This is 8 years old but it's still relevant http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2kyg4?SB-TWF-Paladin-build-advice#3 Short version: You need DEX if you want to TWF. I am playing a paladin currently, you either want a 2 hander or go ranged to maximize damage in that class. TWF is really good but Paladins are such a MAD class and feat starved that TWF takes too much to get going. If I was going to make my paladin again I would have made a small race archer with a bonded mount or a guy with a 2H weapon. Currently I am S&B and leveling up sucks with TWF developing..
Hey, I have a paladin of Paladine in an all range party. A wizard, shaman healer and a bow fighter. Any suggestions on what I should build? I pretty much want to create a character that can prevent others from reaching the ranged group. I am already human so that cannot be changed. It seems like paladins are feat starved...I don't know if I should go with a reach weapons build...dual wielding...pure turtle... Kind of in a loss.
Hey, I want to make a goblin character for a low level game, so max level 6 or so, starting at level 1. Most character will be optimized so I don't want to fall behind but I don't want to be super cheesy either, so no I am human with goblin feats, but dipping in a class is not out of the question. I read about the Roll With It feat and it made me really want to play a goblin. It's probably going to be 20 point buy. I kind of want to play a self-sufficient character that could solo quest or at least survive if the whole party wipes, which has made me start thinking about playing a caster of some sort Also as a side note, Roll With It says that you can move up to your speed if you get hit. So if my speed is 30 and I get hit for 31 points of damage what happens?
Hey, I had created a post a few months ago about needing Paladin advice, but of course we ended up getting a mythic tier which changed my planned progression....so here we are again. Can I get a build recommendation for a
Currently he is level 5, with 1 mythic tier. Party is shaman, rogue, ranger (archer), witch and myself, a Paladin I don't want a totally defensive build because I find them boring, but I am pretty much the only person in the party that gets hit to the face so I have to be able to survive.

I'd prefer spells slam, since you could full attack with your main hand before hitting them with the shield to bull rush. Would that require Two Weapon Fighting feats to do?
Long John wrote: Entirely personal preference. I prefer non-reach to reach, excepting in the case of monks, where I threaten adjacent anyways. Less odd things to fret about, which means more paladin & cat arse-kicking action. That makes sense. 3 more questions 1. What familiar do you recommend?
Long John wrote: Also Halberd is the non-reach polearm I usually use with this build. What are your thoughts about reach vs non reach weapons? Why is Halberd usually used? Trying to understand the mindset, not questioning the advice. master_marshmallow wrote: Using your shield as a primary weapon can be fun, I recommend using Improved Shield Bash and using your weapon two-handed Are you saying carrying nothing else but a shield? How would that build look like? Just shield feats :)

This is why I posted this question :) I have read about things like trips, bull rushes etc. To me that's control, can't hit my friends if you are on the ground, or 20ft away from them and can't get past me. But obviously I don't know what way makes sense for a Paladin, they have such a limited amount of feats that I want to be cautious.
Hey, I am a first time Pathfinder player, coming from DnD. I want to make a tank like paladin for my party. The party has a shaman, ranger, rogue, wizard. I want to be up to the front protecting the Squishies from death and have high survivability. For various reasons in and out of character I feel that I should he using a shield, then the ranger and rogue can clean house as I stand there taking punishment. I know there is no actual way to draw aggro, so I feel like control can allow me to protect others. Race: human
I need a build that's good from 1 to level 12-16 so no late bloomers please. Edit: Priority wise I care about being a tank for my teammates more than having a shield. So if reach weapons make sense or whatever that's fine. |
