"By th' by, c'n any one be castin' some more light in't th' place?" she looks to Desidera and winks, Sunset's grin looking strangely feral in the flickering lights the party is currently in. "Y'know, t' be helpin' Gloisil checkin' fer bumps an' stuff?"

Mox:
"I know him; I know him, Dread Kojan with Red Jejua his brother and Archmagus Fystor and Balfic High Priest of the Dark and his Champion the Mother of Darkness and Magus Monk Lorm the Shifty, and even Baelinor Stormwall, Hearthstarter <a very rare dwarven title> and so on; but all dim in the light our our Mother, Cera Angel, all bless her mighty arm; her dread sword, and her loving arms."
Mox in nearly in the throws of divine passion. There is not doubt he is a true believer in Cera, who some of you probably have heard of as she is one of the most famous Ranger Lords currently active. Any elf or dwarf <from this world> will know about Kojan and Red Jejua on a knowledge roll of a 6; yes, he is that famous or infamous.

"Sunset, I think that is a good idea, but since they are able to speak for themselves, I think they could just tell us if they would like Desidera to heal them."
Turning back towards Koridur, Gloisil says, "Koridur, would you happen to know were the forges are? My uncle says that the most likely place to look is in a vault near the forges."
"And as Sunset suggested, do you or your companions have any injuries that need to be healed?"
Then to all who are here, Gloisil says, "May we discuss this further as we travel, as I feel that it is urgent that we find the seal as soon as possible."
If our new friends do not know the way in which we should go, then I suggest that we continue down the hallway in the direction that we were headed when we stopped to rest."
Gloisil pauses for a moment waiting for other suggestions, and if there are none, he heads down the hallway in the direction that they were heading before encountering Yuri's lab.

"We're going with them, Kurg. And it would be wise of you to listen to the nice elven woman lest she put that bolt through your skull."
The stout dwarf turs toward Sunset. "What was your name again? Sunset you said? I do apologize for my companions behavior. I've only met him but this once as we fell through the shaft together. Hearing Gloisil begin to speak, Koridur turns to face him.

A look of concern waves over the dwarfs face as he motions to Sunset and says "You know Kurg, maybe we ought to let them look us over. We were in a pretty bad fight and had a hard fall... twice. I want to make sure we're fit for combat if it comes to that again. You've been good to have in a fight thus far and I'd really rather not lose you to a goblin." The old dwarf adjusts his hauberk, hoists his heavy shield, puts his axe back in its place and walks towards the others. "I thank you for your assistance. Who is your healer?"

Gyldyr gestures to Desidera.
He wonders why the rest of the group isn't catching on yet.

Desidera Tahn |
As if having the Dark elf travel at her back was not disconcerting enough, this meeting was something that she was not expecting in the slightest, thus her eyes were a slight bit wider than usual, glancing back and forth amongst the speakers and their fluid words, understanding none of it. Desidera gave a rap of her staff on the floor at the dwarf's question, nodding at him.
"I am the healer. Are you hurt?" The question was directed without malice to the three that were standing before the group.

Dwarved try to use volcanic heat sources whenever possible; as as this mountain range is volcanic; there will be such things and such dangers here; as as usual; dwarves use a lot of steam power; and all that augmented by the magic of gnomes. so; volcanic beds are usually very low; but also whereever a vent through the magma layer comes up; and this is usually somewhere near the heart of the lowest living level and in a central chamber to where most of the entrances to all the mines would occur; the chamber is usually huge; wide and hundred of feet high; much like a classic beehive but reveresed; were the bee hive is empty and the dwarves (bees) live all round the central hub like spokes of a wheel; to mix metaphors. The central chamber is nearly always filled with the sounds of hammers and breaking of ore and the smelting process as well as the sound of sung dwarven chants. It should be very weird and sad to you to not be able to hear the reverberation and echoes of the singing and pounding constant in a dwarven hold. Usually; you go to the stronger source of that sound; as the kings chamber and grand hall is always on the first level up from the central floor where all the smiths and smelting and such happen.
on the second level; up; classically; is the spokes that hold the entrances to each of the tunnels to the veneration/clergy of the various dwarven dieties.

ok; some legendary things:
an Ork named Balfic Graa is a priest and a companion of the greatest living dwarven hero named Kojan, often called the Fist of Dumathion; the Silent God. Kojan weild the hammer relic left from the dwarf/elf wars; a Greater Runic weapon called Red Jujua "Tears of Mothers" and armor custom made for him by Vulcan; the Greek diety; as Dumathions request as Kosan stood up alone against the Four Horsemen and their boss who tried to sacrifice Kosan to a demon lord; but kosan escaped into a random layer of the Abyss and more or less fought his way out of a few hundred layers of that dread place.
The stories about Balfic Graa are even more disturbing. He is reputedly an assassin and High Priest of the Dark God and cousin to the Elven Emperor Sebastion. Balfic is betrothed to the Finish diety Loviatar, Mistress of Pain and has The Drow Princess Akiko; the highest of the high drow nobility as his concubine; who is also a wizard and priestess of the Dark God. Now apparently; Balfic is nigh unkillable; has been infected with countless types of lycanthropy and died and was buried a few times and is the most beautiful looking ork ever; think like 22 charisma. He is a mover and shaker, literally can move armies; is very highly placed and has the direct ear of the Grandmaster of Assasssins and thieves in The Guild. Elves kneel to him; drow kneel to him; ork cheer him; humans love him.
now the greatest of ork heroes is Ugmarr; basically, if it can be killed; he can kill it; well maybe not a tarrasque; but hey; nobodies perfect. the battle between Ugmarr and Kosan is Legendary and everybody knows it. Ugmarr and Kosan fought for three days without stopping and couldnt kill each other; so when the sun went down of the third day; Kosan said " yea aint dont nothing but make me thirsty" and the Ork laughted and replied "Same here, yea stumpy little shi#; lets get a drink" so they both put up their weapons and drank a whole lot and left with a lot of mutual respect.
Current events; Ugmarr leads about a couple million Ork against the Ghoul invasion in the southern continent; The dwarves have about a millon there fighting the ghoul invasion; nearly every elf in the world is there fighing the ghouls. 100k viking are there fighting hte ghouls; about 500k greeks are there fighting the ghouls, about 500k Chinese refugees are helping everywhere. And there are 5 Elven dieties; three dwarf dieties; 2 viking dieties; 5 Greek demigods; 10 Ork dieties and so on; all fighting down in the Southern continent either against the ghouls or the Snakemen; and the ghouls and snakes are winning.
So; this guy; if it is true; saying that he is Ugmarr grandson; is saying something; he is about as close to "up there" (if orks had royalty) among his people as one can get by birth. And looks like he has the Blessing of the Dark God; Balfic's diety, and is a citizen of the empire; which means he has the ability to speak directly to Balfic; or the Emperor or anyone else in the empire.
so; that is what you know about this young orks bloodline from the knowledge roll without knowing to much about him; the dward with him proabably knows a lot more and you figure Gloisil can figure out or ask his uncle a lot more and thinking of that; you can confirm or ask gloisils uncle to check into it; as he too is a citezen of the empire; granted; the ork could be lying about all this, but orks dont usually lie as they consider it a show of weakness.
Sunset continues to frown and maybe glare at the Orc. Though glaring seems to much effort and a smile keep trying to break out.

Gyldyr goes over the orc's explanation, seeing no obvious flaw. There was still something mysterious about these two... but the orc had said something that had made him reconsider for a moment. Gyldyr guessed that his allies didn't know all that much about him, either, so he'd content himself with keeping a wary eye on the two. It would be better to have one god-blessed on their side instead of as an enemy. Also, the orc knew about their suspicions, so he decides to risk another question. "Why are you in possession of such strong magic? Your aura is far stronger than I would have guessed for two ordinary mortals; even a god-blessed one."

the ork replies:
"ah; perhaps; just hand me downs from the family; got some ancestors of note who took an interest in my welfare. Also; Priest Kosan and his group of freedom fighters raided the vaults of the captital of Tarantis few months back; so as the Mother of Darkness; being Champion of High Priest Balfic; had just converted us by the Flames of the Dark to the Dark God; we all went out in support of that Foray into the demon held city and did what we could agaisnt the scrags thereabout to confuse the issue and sh*t and give some payback; so we got a bit of hand me downs from there; and then as we all got in a big fight up top with bunch of gobbies; well some of the really tuff guys fell and some of us grubbers got what we could from those that fell; then fell down this hole; so; aint saying I got this or that but some of my stuff has this or that. As fer this Gobby; I only met him couple minutes ago own self."

Valegrim |

Ok; at the mention of Tarantis, I think all but Gyldyr would have a clue about that place unless your character was a rural hick.
Tarantis was the known worlds (that means here in the West) third largest city; the greatest seaport and citadel of humans. It was the first major city to fall the to the incursion of chaos hordes from the wastes. Many demons were reported as leading and joining that horde; the city itself was betrayed by a human mage who was one of the worlds greatest magus and once friend of Kosan, Bob, Peter, an elven druidess and the Nez-Bert a barbarian warlord.
This was the premier adventure team that tried to stop the chaos incursion, but they were in their citadel (which actually is not very far from this dungeon and might be worth a look at) here on this continent and didnt get to Tarantis in time due to the betrayal of the human Magus in their team who led another horde through the Underdark to appear here and sack their citadel; killing many of the defenders; Peter and Bob went missing; good luck finding a halfling and gnome; but Bob the Halfling is known to have survived; Kosan (who wears Thunderfoot from The Prophesy) ended up in the Abyss, Nez-bert; the Barbarian tried to save the Pick of Ages (a powerful item of The Prophesy) and used it and shifted to the Happy Hunting Grounds. No one knows if the druidess died; last Kosan heard; she shapechanged and left to find Ca-el and his team as reinforments; but nobody has heard from her or them.
So; the Human Mage, I forget his name right off; been a while; there were other heroes too, but these are the main ones. Maybe Kosan remembers if he reads this thread.
Anyway; the fall of Tarantis is the start of "The Age of No Hope" Where civilization has been overrun for the last 25 years; city after city sacked; race and peoples destroyed and plundard; millions dead or enslaved. Trade stopped; Dwarves pulled back to their Holds; Elves pulled back to their mystical forest in the Elphantine Lands; the Holy Cities washed there hands of all who had betrayed them; some say lost in pride that they failed to help the world; Persia fell to civil war; the Darkwell opened in Greco/Rome polluted by a Shard from the Illearth Stone; the Dead Opened their Crypts and with the Darkwell spreading darkness all over Greece and Rome; the creatures of the night never had the take shelter from the Sun Bane that kills many of them.
so; this is what the mention of Tarantis should bring up in most of you; so a successful Raid on Tarantis, is a big deal. For the last 20 years the High Magus of Tarantis has issued a proclaimation that all magic items no matter how big or small will be brought to Tarantis; so the Hordes have done just that; all magic has been stripped from just about everywhere. Thieves from the Horde raid civilized cities thought safe; so all the local theives guilds and such were driven to become one force under a Half Orc called Ronin; the Grandmaster and his Rune Sword "Deathkiss" who follows behind him; now some say that Ronis is also the Forth of the Four Horsemen who lead the Choas Hordes; but nobody knows for sure; that is just a rumor.

you are actually above ground; which agrees with the stonework hereabouts. You figure you are in an area very close to a tower that looks out; which makes sense as the majority of gnomes dont like going underground and you see a lot of evidence of this being a workshop for gnomes and some dwarves who do things like rain collection and air venting and monitor outer grillworks and such. This is typically where gnome magic types and engineers would be located.
your altitude is about 75 ft over the outer groundworks; so you have come up 200ft in the elevator; which would have still been very high; in a typical Hold of one the age of this one; there is probably 30 or so levels. There will be many types of ways down; some that go down one level at a time; and some that go many levels at once which are typically paths for warrior and paths for workmen/engineers. Somewhere are probably slides that go a long way; these would be used for fast movement of warriors from the surface to get to the lower levels quickly; as kobold, goblinoidss; drow; orks; and other subteranean threats tend to attack from below; Dwarf Holds are rarely attacked from the surface from much besides a Dragon.
The dwarf thinks hard for a minute and to no one in particular states "All right. If we're to find this seal, we need to find a golden box that it's hidden in. Desidera looked thoughtful as she reached up to touch the end of her staff with a word of warning, her voice only as loud as it needed to be.
