This will be the new campaign thread. I will link for any references or notes Needed. I’ll get to work having a sheet for loot and something set up for maps. I’m thinking of using google drive or some other aspect of it.
I’ll start work preparing and hopefully next weekend I can have everything ready to kick things off for Brinewall. In the meantime feel free to make any edits to your characters builds, (no 3rd party please) and spend the allotted 2.5k of extra gold you all are given however you wish. Please try to get headings organized as well.
While I am away till next Wednesday please answer questions as best you can in the recruitment thread. You also will be the main voices for what type of character you pick up as your 5th. Thanks again for letting me join you guys and I’m excited to run this for you all!

Can I hide behind the ninja? Not sure if that works. ;)
Byron Vhiski |
Hello, I was wondering if I could join in on this. I did not see the posts because it was closed, but I am still interested if possible.
Byron Vhiski |
Cool, thanks for letting me back into the game.
Byron Vhiski |
So I read through your discussion on the previous game and saw you mentioned rebuilding/rebalancing.
If we are seeking to potentially rebalance I thought I would toss in that I want to mostly keep the character the same (backstory and class), but I am happy to switch over to playing a ranged slayer type instead of a melee character as I would have fun either way and I am happy to help fill whatever the group needs.
So if there is a 6th player who looks like a great addition for the story and wants to do melee, I can shift back to using a bow instead. I could make those changes in a few minutes to make sure we have the best fit for the game. I would keep the trapfinding skills I built in and then I could just back off to let someone else open doors as needed while still handling traps. I would actually be a bit better at it with the improved Dexterity.
Although, looking over the options it looks like the closest to being in melee is a summoned creature. So it probably won't matter.
Also, you gave 2.5K to everyone when people thought I was out. Should we go to 2K now to spend?
Hattori Aiko |
I guess I should note that Aiko can still find and disable traps, she just can't disable magical ones. Since she has Trap Spotter she gets the usual free check to notice a trap just by coming within range of one. Having extra trapfinders in the group lets us disable better by Aiding (when possible) and having options for disabling magic traps (like glyphs and such) without having to use specific spells.
Winsome Briskalberd |
That's why I mentioned that Winsome has trapfinding in the recruitment thread, so that potential applicants don't focus on our lack of a standard rogue. :)
Hattori Aiko |
I mention this because people seem to have a tendency to treat it as "character cannot find and disarm traps at all," which is not true; Aiko can still find all kinds of traps, and can disable non-magical traps. It's only disabling magical traps that requires the trapfinding feature. And that's something that can also be handled with dispel magic or summon monster.

I think he said there were times he would be sporadic. I think it is more of that.
GM-MM |
Sorry been away since the 9th and got back very late last night. Yes everyone gets it and use the 2.5k gold how you wish. As for rebalancing feel free to and let me know what you do.
For the 6th player I would like to do a vote between all of us to figure out a player. Taking the applicants available and each of us picking one, with top two getting to go a final pick between them.
Hattori Aiko |
I've sent my vote to the GM.
Since we got our slayer back, we are pretty well-positioned tactically. I think it would be useful to have someone whose skills can complement the group, and that probably means either (or both) diplomatic stuff and/or wilderness survival stuff, as this AP eventually has you crossing the planet. We do already have a bard (Ameiko) but she's currently out of commission. Thus I lean toward a character who will provide (1) interesting interpersonal interactions and (2) support skills that will be useful in dealing with overland travel and interactions in faraway places.
But that's just me. :)
Byron Vhiski |
I was going to hold off on voting until the 17th like the original post indicated to see what the last person or two brings in. I can vote sooner if people want to move up the timeline though.
DeJoker |
Oh this is going to be a vote -- I will pull my hat out then -- not spending time creating something that might not get used have lots to other potentially waste my time. Have fun you all and if you need a Samarai later on let me know as long as I am not creating something for a potential waste of time.
GM-MM |
So we will be taking Lyraesal from the applicants and she should hop in here soon.
An update on the game situation, work ended up being busy this weekend, and packing somewhat for a move in the future took up more time than expected. Hopefully tonight I can get some assets together tonight. I’ll see if I can get a post up tonight as well to allow for some role play and set the scene and transition.
Just for fun post any interesting items bought with the cash you had, as well as any changes for builds! It should help keep people engaged just in case the post tonight doesn’t get up.

I decided to take a runestone of power, to basically give Winsome an extra spell slot. Not real exciting, but kind of interesting all the same.

Hey everybody, thanks so much for having me! Looking forward to playing with you all. Will be reading through the old tread a bit for inspiration on what Lyraesel may have come across while tracking the caravan.

I am going to take Eyes of the Eagle.
GM-MM |
Neat stuff so far, I would add some pizzazz to them to make them more than simple number buffs but plain items will do for now. Please make sure they are added to your sheet! First post it’s up, still adding assets but the link should let people see the map, NPCs, and loot sheet. Will add more as needed. Just a quick question, do you all prefer pre spoilered info for recall knowledge or roll and find out? I’m fine with both and enjoy the efficiency of pre spoilered but find it can ruin the flow or be jarring at times.
Hattori Aiko |
Aiko picked up cat burglar's boots, a naginata, some masterwork darkwood nunchaku (for fightin' skeletons!), and an adventurer's sash with a compass and a smoke bomb.
Winsome Briskalberd |
Pre-spoilered is very efficient; I'm a big believer in lessening back-and-forth posts where everyone is waiting on someone else to proceed. :)
Zaraleva |
Just looking it over to help make sure you get the most out of your awesomeness, did you select a feat? If I’m wrong ignore this haha.
So much for the player's Wisdom check. I did not. Tomorrow, if it pleases m'lord.
Zaraleva |
Partymembers, what say you to "Craft Wondrous Item?" In my regular in-person games, I have a standard policy of making items for partymembers at a 25% discount and then I have some leftover to craft things for myself. Would anyone want me to make them items at such a price?
Lyraesel |
This is a campaign that lends itself to item crafting with weeks of caravan travel time.
Winsome Briskalberd |
This practice always rubs me the wrong way, because it is a player using one of their class features to advance their character over others. If you take the feat, it costs you nothing to craft things at cost, so charging us anything over that feels unfair. I'd feel similarly if you started charging for cure spells or channels. :)
Lyraesel |
They invest a feat to do it. You carry on with your progression. It balances out, and no one is forced to pay them to craft anything, you'refree to buy it full price anywhere else. They're spending their goal on crafting/raw materials etc.
If you're going to pay all the crafting costs then maybe there'sa point there, otherwise I see nothing wrong with a crafter PC charging other PC's a discounted rate above cost.
Hattori Aiko |
I like having a crafter in the group to get gear at a discounted rate, time permitting. Remember to jack up your Spellcraft skill for those crafting checks. Usually I'm the one doing it and I make items at cost for the party, because benefiting the party benefits everyone!
