The frieght elevator is a common device for dwarves; you have no issue using it; good thing; as climbing those cables would be slick and very dangerous; not just the cables; but all kinds of things like to hide in such cabled shafts; expecially big nasty spiders, a constant problem in dwarven halls.

ok; so you start the elevator and hop on; it begins to rise with a squeel and shreek; then chug chug chug begins to rise after long unuse; all the noise probably alerted lotty dotty everybody though; good thing your moving; there are usually many many levels to a dwarven hold; and looking from the inside; you realize there is no way to stop the elevator. Yikes! you will have to jump at some level; dwarven elevators come in two types; one that goes up and down; and one that goes one direction in a loop; so goes up one side and down another with a large gear at the top and bottom. Each type also has built in engineering defenses to get rid of pests.

Looking at the inside of the elevator lift car; you realize there are no controls, they have been removed; no brake; nothin.

you pass one level; bricked up. pass another level; boards boxes and whatnot jammed in front of it; your knowledge of depth tells you that you are higher than the sink hole on level land that you fell down into; so up into the mountain a bit. Generally where light craftmen; lookouts; visitors and the like are housed along with some of hte general population.

the goblin and ork with you seem unaware of the issues at hand. Dwarven frieght elevators go about 20mph; so, pretty good clip; you will have to take a chance and jump soon

The ranger replies: I heard something as well and felt a vibration in the floor....LOOK! points.

The elevator begins to rise...pretty quickly too.

Gyldyr ponders the intellectual problem for a few moments. "We could bother finding another pathway, with the dangers and uncertainty that entails. Or we could return to the elevator; it might be taken onto another level, and we would then be well advised to revert to the former option. It might also be occupied, but remain there, in which case we will likely have to fight them, but will gain the now-working elevator. It seems likely our foes would by merely goblins. So, I cast my vote for going in search of the elevator." He gives a deferential little bow.

Desidera could not come up with a better suggestion so nodded her head in agreement to Gyldyr's proposal (With a small amount of suspicion). She was trying to focus, but there was a tiny smirk on her face, even though she had exhausted herself with laughter. Truthfully, she was not too happy about being next to Gyldyr in the marching order, but bit by bit, she was easing off on her suspicion of him. It was tiring to be that suspicious constantly, and if she was watching him, she was not watching their surroundings.

ok; as the party is watching down the hallway; the noise of the elevator continues.....

and....

out jumps a heavily armored dwarf who lands very badly (and is a bit stunned so talk a few rounds like mush mouth)

and a heavily armored Ork; who lands badly and ontop of the dwarf...

and and Goblin mystic? in robes (he has a staff with a collection of various toes hanging off of it) who jumps out, looses a bit of his tail in the elevator; lands badly; but rolls and is up facing the party sniffing the air; a hostile gleam in his eyes as he glares at you.

"ooh, what have we hare; humans and elves and drow; oh my, Imperial Citizens I see, we greet thee or we eat thee; choose!"

Still trying to stifle a snicker, though she wore a smile and there was some color to her cheeks, her expression was somewhat confused as a dwarf, an orc, and a goblin jump out of the elevator, the former two landing rather badly. She was still trying to figure heads or tails of the situation when the goblin spoke, which made her smile. Lifting a hand, she gave a tentative wave, glancing at those ahead of her.

"Um.. Greetings?"

He feels for the handle of his axe hoping this group is friendly, as he is outnumbered.

As Gloisil watches the dwarf pull himself up off the ground, he relpies, "Well master dwarf, we are a group adventures tasked with recovering a object of some worth from these 'dwarven' mines."

We have come to secure the seal in this hold and were in a fight with some goblin clans above ground when we hit a sink hole and fell. The little goblin you see before you helped us with a straggling goblin that fell through with us. Other than that, I know not these other two. My brethren are still fighting above us. Whether they live or not I am unsure. We were heavily out-numbered, about 10 or 15 to one.

"Well we had heard that others had been sent in search of the seal. My hope is that even though we may have been sent by differing entities, for different reason, we may work together to accomplish the goal before us."

"Well Koridur, that certainly matches the information I was given about the dwarven group that was sent."

Smiling coldly (though at the prospect of disembowling the uncouth 'orc', instead of out of nicety) he remarks, "how delightful that such different peoples can work together towards a common goal.
