"What What Biscutt?" The Ork goes over to where Sunset was pointing; but apparently doesnt notice anything, isnt nervous and is generally thick as a brick.

Gyldyr nods in response to Gloisil's question, waiting in the hallway. If it was safer, he might want to try and communicate with the spirits, but in the current situation, it was too risky for him and his apparent companions- who he unfortunately relied on.

Sunset's demeanour changes as fast as a drop of water flashing to steam on a hot plate. She storms over to the thing she's seen and slams her hand onto it, hard.

Str Check:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

"This thing, ye big lummix!" Glaring up at the Ork, her previous fear and trepidation completely forgotten. Along with Gyldys' warnings....

She waggles the finger of her other hand in the Ork's ace.

"I be tellin' ye afore, th' nick name be 'Sunset'. Yer doin' a right fine job o' fillin' me attitude with displeasure!" She rants at him.

The hallways looks the same as before; the falling elevator lift doesnt appear to have damaged the elevator doors or the hallway here.

Kurg thows his head back in a great, full belly laugh. "HO HO HO HO" it is kind of weird to see a great, black, tusked ork laughing; but there you go.

eyes watering with laughter, he looks down.

"me zztinks you found a journal n shiit, my luvfsy biscut, gut job, Kurg is proud of Sunny Biscut, n shitte. Can zyou also vead?"

On the ground the wood has separated and a small journal can be seen inside; looks like a thin stiff leather jacket like an folder with a few pages stuck inside.

Fem Elf Bard 3

"Rrrgh!" Is all Sunset can articulate as a reply. Stamping a foot in anger and frustration before quickly bending, scooping up the things that have been revealed and storming off to stand back in the corridor with the others.

Silver Crusade

m drow Ranger 1

Gyldyr's attention is immediately drawn to the small journal Suny has recovered. "Where'd you find that?" he asks gravely, holding out his hand in an obvious request to see the journal. "It might hold some clues to our way."
On to the original issue. Gyldyr keeps his voice fairly low, uncertain exactly how aware of the living world the spirits are. "You likely didn't see it, but the veil between life and death in that room is very thin, due to all the violent death those years ago. It wouldn't be wise to stir up the spirits, but both sides of the conflict remain. The only way the dead goblins might turn a blind eye to the dwarf is if they assumed we were going to do something terrible to him. With my race's prowess in torture and the reputation we have for it, it may not be too difficult to make them think that." Gyldyr smiles thinly. "If we tried to appease the dawrven spirits, the same is true of myself. It may be worth noting there are more dead goblins than dwarves."

Fem Elf Bard 3

Sunset blinks as the looks at Gyldyr, then blinks again looking at what she holds in her hands.

"Oh, right, these thingy's." She says. "Well, I did notice th' odd thing out an; I were thinkin' 'No Dwarf'd be so careless as t' leave a bump ltike that', ye ken?" Her frown returns, "When that big lummox's gone an' tweaked me ire, causin' me t' go stormin' off liken I did." She sighs.

"When we've time I'd like t' talk t' ye about yer clan some." She finishes to Gyldyr, with an open and completely honest look upon her face. Sunset's large blue eyes gazing at Gyldyr innocently.

"Now then, since this plcae be Dwarven, I be thinkin' Koridur should be th' one t' be havin' a gander first. Unless th' writtin' be Gnomish, then o' course Gloisil be th' one t' take a peek." Sunset sums up her thoughts on the journal succinctly. "But first, lets be gettin' our selves t' some where's reasonably safer, hey?" She suggests.

Aye, lets be getting safe and secure first!

Koridur stares at the anvil with great distress on his face and fire in his eyes. A small tear begins to roll down his cheek. I'll be wrighting down those clan names in my book of grudges. He turns to Sunset and Gyldyr. "I'll be havin' a look at the journal first." The dwarf motions to take the journal from the last holder. "Mox. What do you know of this massacre?" The dwarf hoists his axe and readies his shield. "I will *not* let my brothers die in vain. Let's find the seal and be done with this."

Fem Elf Bard 3

Perception:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Sunset steps across and wraps her arms around Koridur.

"There now mate, we'll do right by you an' yours." She assures her freind. After a brief hug she steps back and offers him the journal.

SO, we's back out in'a corridor agin?

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Mox replies:

"juz what I said bout it why?" he looks; they peers intently at hte dwarf

"healer, what is wrong with the dwarf; he is leaking fluids"

<sniff sniff> "I smell nose poisons nor mus n rooms"

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

"Well we could go and check the barracks and see if they are any more hospitable as far as the spirit world goes, and perhaps spend a moment checking out this item Sunset has found."

Silver Crusade

m drow Ranger 1

"Yes, that might be safer than traveling through that room," Gyldyr concedes.
I wonder how Houses work for surface elves? Still... no one should know I have no House behind me. Gyldyr smiles politely at Sunset. "I'm afraid you'd find I have nothing interesting to tell."

Fem Elf Bard 3

Sunset gives Koridur one last friendly hug, making sure the sacthel she's found is safely tucked into his belt/pocket (Whut ever t'is th' feller be usin' t' keep letters'n stuff), before turning to Gyldyr as the group moves on to the next room.

"Why sure'n we do have heaps o' things t' talk about." She grins innocently at the dusk skinned Elf.

Movin' on then?

Sovereign Court

M Halfling Rogue

With a forced smile, Koridur takes the journal from Sunset and puts it in his belt. "Thanks, lass" are the only words he speaks, fearing to show too much weakness with a choked voice. After a moment to regain his composure he looks again toward Mox. "Nothing is wrong with...the dwarf...my friend. But I do need to know everything you know about this. Be absolutely certain you are leaving out no small detail." After the conversation concludes, Koridur walks to the hallway.

I'll look around the room a bit on my way out to see if there's anything I didn't notice before.

SEARCH: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

O_O ...BA-BAM!

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

wow; a critical success; hmm....mox shows you his evidence; though you dont know a lot of details bout goblins tribes and marking; on this subject he could sell holy water to the pope as he seems in this instance completely guiless and sincere and knows what he is talking about; all left here is refuse apparently, but amazingly; you find a signet ring in the rubble in some bones as if you were guided to it. you may roll lore to see if you know the clan house and line; but obviously this guy swallowed it so the gobbies wouldnt get it and it wasnt found.

after the search; the dwarf and goblin are pretty dirty so the party heads to the barracks.

This room his long and high; but not very wide; once was a dorm for perhaps a hundred; beds two high on each side and two same way across from each other ;rows and rows of beds with footlockers and wall lockers with a central run that spans the like a hall leading to the end of the room.

this room has been wrecked; smashed and partially burned; despoiled; with urine and poop and who knows what; the only thing certan is that no dwarves died in their beds; there is some blood in front of hte door where you came in; probaby the walking wounded made thier defense.

glydr; no notice some fragments and magical residue at the door; obvioulsy the gnomes had this door warded; also looks like they expended some spell power here; probably their exploding gem spells; probably killed a few would be raiders.

on thing is very obvious ; there are two stone goblins outside the barracks door; looks like they didnt even see what hit them; and got turned to stone; details so acute and accurate and not a chisel mark on them and a dwarf probably wouldnt make a statue like this here even though they might have the skill.

Sovereign Court

M Halfling Rogue

Alright. I'll go ahead and roll to see what I can see for the ring. If he didn't want the gobbies to get it *that* bad it's gotta have some purpose.

LORE: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

o_O Not near as nice as the last roll.

While I'm at it, I'll give this room a look over as well.

SEARCH: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
^ That's +2 more to notice unusual stonework.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Stonework is all dwarven; good and solid and with artistic touches. This room is large and would take days to go through there is so much broken stuff; after a initial looks and moving a few things; you give it up as hopeless to search and still stop the evil inside this hold in a timely manner.

Sovereign Court

M Halfling Rogue

"There's nothin' here. We have to move."

In a fit of boyish humor, while everyone is searching the barracks (he doesn't see any significant magic so doesn't bother), Gyldyr takes a bit of charcoal and scrawls arcane curses and grotesque features on the stone goblins. He makes an effort that no one notices what he's doing. Then he stands somewhere far away, his dignity regained.

ok; this is the end of this hall; where does the party go next? or where you going to discuss things here?

Fem Elf Bard 3

Am happy t' follow Koridur or Gyldyr or Gloisil or Desidera or Mox. (^_^)

While the others are debating and considering things, Desidera is taking the relative peace to sort through the images in her head of the dream that she had. There was more seeming to be there than she had thought initially, though sorting out what it all meant was rather confusing. So far, she had vague impressions of some sort of chess game, and a river...

Not that she was going to mention this to any of the others just yet. She was not sure how much of it was vision, and how much of it she got confused with something else.

Blinking in uncertainty, she nudged Sunset lightly, and gave her a small smile. It was getting harder to keep cheery underground, and the Orc and Goblin had given her other things to worry about besides Gyldyr.

Looking to Desidera at the slight bumping, Sunset grins and slides a comforting arm around the other woman.

"So? Where'd be th' best place t' be lookin' fer stairs, then?" Sunset asks. "Since goin' down th' same way that Koridur an' what not came up be out'a th' question."

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

"Well since this seems to be a dead end, I guess that we should return to the machinery hallway and continue down it, is that acceptable with everyone else?"

Gloisil waits a moment and if there are no objections leads the way back to the machinery hallway. At the intersection he turns left and continues down the machinery hallway in the direction that they were originally going. Now that he know what to look for in the way of a way down to the lower levels, Gloisil and his owl Hoot keep a lookout for any way down.

Ok; the party...

please write the marching order like this, so we all know where who is

Gloisel
Mox
Koridur
Kurg
Gyldyr
Sunset
Desidera

for example

... heads back down the hallways past the cargo lift to the T in the hall which is across from the room with the Great Gear which is turning, a bit quieter now that it has been greased. Koridur and such will notice all the blood and burn marks and deep scratches here as there as a fierce battle at this intersection.

Mox turns to Koridor the rear of the party after he licks a few scratches "Troll" he points and sniffing and licking more; points at a few scratches on ground "Bugbear, but mostly goblin and dwarf"

All the blood is nearly black as it is not fresh. In this hall there is the sound of a lot of machinery; pumping pistons and gears; the floor vibrates a bit.

Koridur
[spoiler]
This tells you a bit about this place; with the elevation and the fact that this is a volanic region; you peice together from the sounds and eleveation and work rooms that is area has bellows and grills which provides the central air ducts to the Dwarven Hold the pistons and wheels push air to various levels as well as down to the central smithy at the bottom; being from nearly the peak of the mountain; the air would also provide cooling from the intense heat. Through the open door at the T, part of the turning gear can be seen where it would be maintained by engineers; the apprentices would apply grease and the like.
[/spoilier]

Having been in this hall and coming from the right; Gloisel turns left into soon uncharted hallway though the party did get to the first door which is battered down and is a double set of pumping pistons; though they scream horribly due to years of lack of service. The hallways continues; another 60 ft there is a door (left side of map of hallway) that has been not been inspected; the blood, bits of bone, and signs of combat (weapon hits on floor and walls) in the hallways continues and the dwarven engineers didnt give up an inch of this place without resistance.

the next door is a steel door, it and the floor around it are blackened with fire; it has a heavy handle and the door doesnt look any worse for wear; but the door jam and the wall it is attached to is severely damaged, thus this door should open fairly easily unless the damage has frozen it some how.

Mox sniffs the door and smiles and rubs his tummy.

The hall continues another 60 or so feet.

What is the party using as a light source; it matters for several of the characters who can see in the dark and those that can.

[smaller]Sunset will/would like to be with Desidera. I thought Desidera was generating a light source? So, maybe Kurg and Gyldyr at the back. Sunset and Desidera in the middles. Koridur and Gloisil at the front and Mox...?

"There's water ahead," Gyldyr comments, absently stroking his viper.

Gyldyr will stay as far away from the light source as possible, preferably at the back.

I was just giving an example; I would like the party to hash out the marching order and post it.

Gloisel,
Koridur,
Desidera,
Sunset,
Kurg,
Gyldyr,

Double file:

Mox, Gloisil,
Koridur, Kurg,
Desidera, Sunset,
Gyldyr,

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Silver Crusade

m drow Ranger 1

That looks fine.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

mox will follow Gloisel, as and npc and goblin; is not brave enough to be out front

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

"Gyldyr, thank you for the information about water being ahead."

"Koridur, is there any chance that the water Gyldyr is hearing would lead us to where we need to go?"

Gloisil will stop in front of the first door on the left that they had not previously inspected and check it real quick.

Gloisil will search the door for traps as best he can without being particularly trained to do such. Search: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8. He will then check to see if it is locked. If it is not he will then listen to see if he can hear anything beyond the door. Listen: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16.
If Gloisil hears anything of interest he will discuss it with the others, else he'll just open the door.

As far as marching order, Gloisil doesn't mind leading for a time, but would like a fighter type behind him to swap places with if the need arises.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Your search does not reveal any traps; though you see a whole lot of scorch marks; you do not hear anything of interest; the smell is like burnt fat or flesh.

Opening the door; you see many vats of grease; animal fat mostly; you guess bear; much has burned; looks like there was a huge fire started in here but used up so much oxegon that the fire just burned itself out; starved. This is probably where the grease is stored that is used to lube the wheels and pistons. You can see tracks as if some creatures have been eating or using this stuff.

------------\

can I get a verification on the light and what type of light source please; thanks.

Fem Elf Bard 3

Desidera has cast light upon summit which she's carryin'. See, this be why I'd like Mox t' be near th' front with his keener eyes in'a dark. How well c'n Koridur see in'a dark, by the by?

Sunset wrinkles her nose.

"Ewww! This is a mess!"

Silver Crusade

m drow Ranger 1

"Is anyone adept at tracking? I'd like to know what sort of creatures made those tracks, and how recently."

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Mox turns his head, "no sure, dwarf, goblin and some bug scent I no seen before" <shakes his head and scratches the knot on the end of his stick> "like a centipede, not not; tracks much bigger"

---------
Sunset; you should ask Koridur how well he can see; dwarfs are known to have various abilities and gadgets for it so it could vary

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

i was hoping Desidera would chime in about the light and how long it lasts from when she cast it; been a while; and where she is standing in the marching order.

This hallways has easy room to allow you to go two by two.

Fem Elf Bard 3

Well, Desidera is in the middle of the group like. And a light spell? Doesn't that last ours per casting, per level?

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

you guys have been in here a few hours; so I need her to say how long it lasts and if she recast it if necessary. I actually wanted to know the light source before you got to this last door; cause if you had open flame; then boom; but as your all first level, and this is pbp; is kid gloves for a while.

Sovereign Court

M Halfling Rogue

To Sunset: "I can see pretty well in the dark." (Up to 60 ft in total darkness.)

To Gloisil: "I'm sorry, I don't know what the water would be, however I do know this area is made to push air down to a few chambers. This grease is pretty nasty. It looks like it'd be put here." Koridur points toward the point in the gear where the grease would go. "Maybe if we use a little we can quiet these pistons a bit."

Male Gnome Sorcerer 3

"Yes, we did grease some of the equipment back down the hall, but I'm not sure that we can take the time to do that to all the equipment in the hallway."

Gloisil can see pretty well with just a bit of light and so he hasn't used any of the sunrods that he brought with him. He will make a check of the room that the grease supply was in for any other exits or a way down to the lower levels. Spot: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8, not seeing anything of interest, he will continue down the hallway to the next door.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

The party travels down the hall another 70 ft; when Mox says
"ssst, I smell, you wait; I look"
He slinks to the floor; scuttles off; comes back a couple minutes later
"much blood on floor, bits of bone and so so; see nobody"

After which; I assume the party moves forward cautiously and comes to the place of much blood spilled months back; thick the floor is with it; as are the walls; countless bodies must have fallen here; but where are they?

from here there is a stair at 45 degrees angle going down; these two are covered with dried blood; it is not apparent if the fight was with the dwarves defending up the stairs or down; only that it was hard pressed and each inch won by blood; how furious the enemy must have been driven to continue such a bloodbath for surely the dwarves sold each foot dearly. Some of the blood still smokes faintly.

the blood stains are grey; dark red; black; and green.

Mox "something Twisted this way come" but what a goblin means by twisted is anyone guess.

Many of you would recognise the Troll blood as trolls are racially enemies of elves and dwarves being nearly the strongest of the goblinoids as would drow as they conscript trolls for duty from time to time; the troll blood is the green slighty smoking blood; its regenerative properties keeping it alive even now.

Silver Crusade

m drow Ranger 1

Gyldyr steps lightly, glad that he had the common sense to wear traveling clothes instead of full-length robes. "What do you mean by twisted?" he asks the goblin, wondering if he meant a fiend; or something else from the dangerous depths, which could be very bad indeed. "Odd, I don't see any corpses."

Sovereign Court

M Halfling Rogue

Koridur raises his shield ready to defend from any attackers. "I'd say the fight went down here. The more important members of this hold would still be a few floors down, in the central chamber. If we follow this blood trail, it could lead us to where we need to be."

Fem Elf Bard 3
