If we are doing background skills, I need to tinker with my sheet a bit yet, but that shouldn't be much trouble and will end up with a few more points which will indeed be handy :)
Looks like we've got a pretty diverse group.
Oh, hi everybody!

Yes it is good to be in another game with you. I am also glad that you guys were able to find a new DM for the RotRL game. I hope it continues to be fun for you.

I am wondering...since Power Attack is part of the feat taxes...is Piranha strike as well? It does not say so but Piranha Strike is just Power Attack for dex fighters. Thought I would ask since weapon finesse is gone which lets me use Dex or strength for an attack.

Unfortunately, I will have to rule that the feat tax rules will not apply to Piranha Strike. My rationale is that while most anyone can simply put more raw muscle into an attack (i.e. Power Attack), it actually takes training to accomplish the same through finesse.
What format will we be using for maps?
As for maps, I typically create Slides or Drawings files on Google Drive. For instance, I have added links for regional maps at the top of the page. I do the same for Encounter Maps, except I add tokens for PCs, NPCs, and enemies.

Should we assume that the expedition ahead of us hit most of the Book 1 set piece encounters? You've mentioned the Temple of the Elk and bandit fortress -- just wondering if the rest of the named/marked locations have similarly been explored & documented by the prior party.

Yes, the previous expedition documented each of the Book 1 landmarks, dealt with hostile creatures, and pillaged their treasure. Of course, you may yet find some of those treasures elsewhere in your travels...

@brand Oluffson. Awesome. I am fixing my armor and getting ready for Pennsic War in just a few weeks.
I will be out of town till late Monday night. I am starting the actual construction on the viking house and will a bit busy. So my posting will be limited at best as it will be from my phone. BOT as needed. I will have a post up sometimes this weekend I hope.

Just got home. We got a lot done over the weekend. Foundation, floor and walls are all done. We also wrapped the structure in water proofing.
I get to go back up in a couple of days to start filling in the dirt to cover up most of the house. I also will start building my stone wall.
Then it is on to the loft and roof. Still need to build a door and complete the fire place in the floor. Then after all that is done I get to start work on the carvings inside. I have a few people I know who love to do these things. That will help out as I will be very busy forging the a frame to hang all my cast iron pots from.

I made a couple character posts of Sava/Vera speaking common, but since decided to retcon that Sava speaks Elven.
By this point, Lord Christian (and any others fluent) will have noticed that Vera and Sava chat in Elven, if a simplified and slangy version. Since Christian speaks Elven himself, I'm assuming his impeccable etiquette here will have him address Sava directly in the current, not-time-sensitive discussion outside the fort!

FYI. I'll be on vacation this week so my posting will be limited. Feel free to bot Mr. Pink/Mr. Black as needed. There is some wifi but I will only have my phone so I'll try to post when I can.

I am at Pennsic War 48 till August 11th and I will be back to normal posting at that time.
I have my phone and I have the ability to post but the responses will be limited and at odd times. I will have to limit how often I post as my wife has gotten my oldest daughter involved in pokemon go. This is eating up a lot of our data for our phones. I want her to enjoy the game so I am limiting what I do with my phone until we get back home. If it is needed..bot me.
Thank you.

I am home from Pennsic War 48.
Lots of excellent fighting and good times even with some very sore ribs.
I will have a post up sometime soon. Still have a tone of things to clean, unpack and put away.

Glad to have you back, Orlog. I was starting to get worried.
I'm headed to the beach for a few days, I'll see if I have time to keep up.
Have fun, Brandt!

Welcome back! Dare i ask who you fought for?
My unit fought with the East this year, well the Kingdom of Acer who allied with the East. I was able to field about 35 mercenaries and kings-men combined. Nice small unit. It was fun, lots of fun.

I will be out of town till the 22nd or 23rd. I can still post but it will be from my phone. I may not be able to see the maps.
I will be very tired at the end of each of these days. I am in the process of finishing my roof on the viking house. Thousands and thousands of little cedar shakes sidings to be stapled into my roof. This part is being done by myself...I may not post often, if need be...Bot me.
