"I have a better idea. I'll draw everyone's attention. When I do, you all sneak out, split up, and meet back at Longroads later tonight."

Saul pulls on his Jackdaw costume. "Besides, I've been wanting to do this."

Before the others can stop him, Saul bursts out of the guard tower and screams, "Jackdaw lives! All Dottari will die! Freedom for Kintargo!" He runs at full speed into the nearest alleyway, turns three more quick corners, and tries to scale the most accessible building when there is no one is sight.

All people around stare flabbergasted after the crazy bird that runs off from the gate house. The Merchant decides that he doesn't want to be at this gate anymore and turns his cart and leaves. The three people on the street turn to their own business after a few moments.

"Are all dottries sick?" a little girl asks her mum. But the woman just drags te girl in the other direction.

No one tries to hold one of the Silver Ravens, if they even notice that they come out of the guard house. And with the new harsh rule of Thrune most would think, some unfortunate souls managed to escape the dottari. As it becomes clear that something happened when the next shift of dottari arrives no one is still around who has seen something. But the rumor of some crazy bird named Jackdaw being there as the dottari died is told all over the city.

After waiting a long time, Saul carefully peers over the edge of building. When no one is around, he carefully climbs back down and makes his way into the streets, trying to act as if nothing unusual happened. He heads back to Old Kintargo and his office, but stops at the Tooth and Nail first. He asks to see Miss Setrona.

Setrona is found behind the bar of the Tooth and Nail, like almost all of the time. As she sees Saul, she waves him over to an empty bar stool. "You got news for me?" she asks, her hopes obviously up.

Saul glances around to make sure nobody is paying attention. Assuming that is true, he replies, "I did, gorgeous.. Found him right where you said. He seems happy and hale enough, though missing his friends. Asked me to look into that. Apparently..."...and Saul lowers his voice even further..."...a bunch of them got themselves locked up in the Holding House."

"I they're in the holding house they got off easy. Could as well rot in the prison below Castle Kintargo." Setrona comments. "So, you're going to do something about it?"

"Would be a shame to spill that good whiskey on the road, but if you have the time to sit down I'll pour you one." she tells, winking at Saul, and turning to fetch the bottle and two glasses. She pours two whiskeys shoves one over to Saul and toasts "To a good day for us and a bad day for Thrune."

Saul knocks it back, letting the liquid warm his tongue and ooze down his throat, and soon he feels the heat in his belly. Gods, that is good.

"Maybe one more. For friends dead and departed?"

Saul nods and leaves, the taste of whiskey still on his tongue. I think I can handle just one or two drinks. Doesn't seem to be a problem. Maybe I'll stop by Clenchjaws for one before I make it over to the Longroads.

He stops by Clenchjaws for a quick nip. It ends up being more than one or two.

Fhingle helps to clean up the coffee house, once that is done he will go and visit Rexus and Maggie.

As the excitement is over for the day and everyone heads home, Zea also leaves and heads back to her small flat in the Devil's Nursery.

Later in the evening there is a knock at her door. An elderly tiefling man stands in front of the door, asking if he can come in for a talk. Under his arm he carries a package wrapped in cloth.

Jarithe will once more rest a bit and then get his cart and head out into the streets for regular business and street chat.

The tiefling walks in and seats himself at the table, putting the package on it. "I has come to my ears that you joined that group, that ended the threat to our people lately. Would you tell me about it?"

The old man looks familiar to Zea. She remembers having seen him together with Strea Vestori, from the Cloven Hoof Society, years ago. He has become an old man since.

But this is for you to use for the good of our people." he tells and shoves the package over to Zea. "But remember, it is not yours to do with as you like, but for the cause. Saul stumbles out of Clenchjaws and makes his way to Longroads.

"LARIA! COFFEE! Black like my soul. Shot of whiskey if you have it."

He slumps down hard in a chair. He looks around with unfocused eyes. "Where's little Mac? I have mace with his name all over it. Where is everybody anyway?"

Zea nods gratefully to the man with a look of awe on her face. "Uncle... These are wondrous articles the like of which I have never touched..." Except maybr my sword... I don't know what to think of that thing... "Thank you from the fire of our blood. I will serve and protect the people." She bows again respectfully as she gathers up the items as if they might break if she breathed on them too hard.

Laria comes over and takes a look at Saul "Would you come with me into the basement. I have to tell you something important." Laria asks, and then turns to go directly there.

Zea nods to the old fellow and watches him as he leaves. So maybe I can live to be old while looking out for my people... I feared it wasn't possible... Then she takes up the items quietly and stows them carefully. She tosses and turns much of the night worrying and wondering... Why'd he give those incredible things to me... I'm just a kid trying to help... I'm not a REAL fighter...

She wakes up the next day and hurries to the coffee house to talk to the others and see what she can do to help next. I've got a burden of my people's trust now...

"So, nothing so. You show up drunk and cause a ruckus and want more alcohol? There is some hard stone floor for you to sleep off your intoxication and think again how you want that to go. Because if that becomes a habit, you can search yourself another hiding spot. Silver Ravens or not." With that Laria leaves the basement, slamming the door shut and leaving Saul to his misery.

Fhingle eventually finds Saul curled up on the stone floor. Fhingle pokes him a bit with one of the bows that he just left near the entrance.

Saul gets to his feet. "I feel like I was hit by a horse. I was... feeling a bit stressed after my Jackdaw run. Came down with a headache, maybe was a bit sick." Saul wipes his mouth with his hand.

"Had an idea, though. Let's poison a batch of ale and deliver it to Holding House for the guards. Need two things. A good poison, and a patsy who will bring it to the guard with the best of intentions. You know any stupid Thrune supporters?"

"Could you look around for a stooge, Little Mac? I will try to find some poison. Or, maybe try my hand at making it myself. I have some experience in such a thing."

Investigators have some class abilities dealing with poison, and I have a skill of 8 in craft alchemy. I will look up those crafting rules.

meanwhile Jarithe does his job as a street merchant with his cart and horses selling his wears and listening to the word on the street as he makes his way through the day and waits for contact from the group for the next task to take up.

I can probably aid another at craft alchemy as I have +3 int.


"Do you want it delivered personally, or can you simply put it there for them to find?" Maggie asks.

"If you need it done personally, how about doing some good disguise as a delivery boy? And invent someone who sent it? That prevents some dope from spilling details about the real sender."

Saul sits in the dark, waiting for his hangover to pass, while contemplating what poison to make.

It's been a while since I've used a good poison to solve a problem... What would be the right one... hum hum hum. Agh. My head. Why did I do that? Should have known better. Should have known I couldn't stop.

I want a poison that should be ingested. Also don't want it to hit immediately, but take at least ten minutes, so it can affect more than one guard. That would mean something like arsenic, or belladonna, or blue star. Arsenic can kill and is cheap, but it is too easy to resist. Blue star would costs a fortune for multiple doses. Goblin's eye hits too fast. Bah. Let's be honest, arsenic is the only thing that I can afford. No... no... Blackfinger's salt. Arsenic is too weak. Blackfinger's salt it is.

It is a DC17 to make, it has an onset time of 10 minutes, damages at 1/min. for 6 min, dealing 1d2 con and 1d3 bleed at each tick (and I would imagine the bleed would tick each round during that minute increment unless healed), it is cured with two saves, and is a fort DC of 17. Because it is expensive, I will only make three doses. Looks like for crafting you spend 1/3 of the price. So all together will cost 300 gold.

Saul grits his teeth and leaves the basement, and just has to suffer through the bright lights. just occurred to me that perhaps it is the next day, and that I slept down there all night

Saul stops at this shop and that, hitting a few apothecaries as well, breaking up his purchases so as not to arouse any suspicions. Then he heads back to the Longroads basement and begins brewing. At some point, Zea shows up to give him a hand.
