Burkhadt also examined it, particularly looking for nefarious defense mechanisms. Old places like this? One can never be too careful...
Midfoviing calmly airlifted the dog over to the grate, looking more amused than she had any right to be. Brute strength seemed like the best way to open the way forward, though, although it did squeak rather loudly when Hadran tested it. Still, it wasn't locked - so there was that, at least.

"Yes, indeed. At your will." Burkhardt prepared to assist should Hadran struggle with the physical effort.
Six round pillars and a large iron gate built into a low archway on the west wall are not the most compelling features of this musty cellar. Drawings rendered from soot and dark brown paint cover the walls. They’re broken up by narrow fissures of dark earth and crumbled plaster. The room is filled with bones, most of which are heaped around a large throne against the south wall.

"Ominous," Burkhardt noted cheerily. He examined the drawings, various bones, and the gate, but was careful not to touch the throne before Hadran can. "Hadran, might I ask you to probe for magical auras here? I fear my sense for magic is yet slower than it ought to be."

There didn't seem to be much in the way of magic here - the most notable thing, in fact, was the growling sound coming from the west. It sounded distinctly... trollish, and was accompanied by the rattle of chains.

Burkhardt rolled up his sleeves, and he and Erstehund followed Hadran.
The only response from the darkened area was a louder growl - but you could also barely make out what seemed to be a large figure hanging in the air as metal continued to creak.

Burkhardt kept close, stopping only once his darkvision could reach the source of the noise and tell them what it was.
Skeletal corpses thinly wrapped in decaying burial linen rest in niches cut into the stone of a wide hallway, which is intersected by numerous narrow fissures. Many of the niches have collapsed, with bony remains jutting out of the rocks and dark earth. The hallway opens into a larger room, where a stone altar is surrounded by cracked walls decorated with intricate reliefs of religious figures and prominent Davians whose tombs lie beyond. The reliefs depict scenes of Aroden on Golarion, particularly a lesser miracle performed at Westcrown, in which he transformed and revitalized a garden of roses.
Of course, it took a few moments to notice those details, distracted as you were by the sight of entrails slowly making their way back into the body of a troll that was hanging from the ceiling.

Hanging from chains, I take it?
Burkhardt frowned, finding another language gone from his mind. How does a pact maker make pacts when he can't communicate? "Hadran, Midfoviing? Be on your guard, as that damage would be fairly recent.
"Do you speak the tongue of giants, my valorous friend?" He fished a ration from his bag. "To my ears it rather sounds like he's waking up, and I'd like to offer him this morsel if he could tell us what did this to him." Flickering his eyes towards that slow-motion, reverse waterfall of viscera, he added. "Once he can properly digest it, of course."

In Giant: "Troll. I am Hadran, this is Burkhardt. What can we call you? What did this to you?"
Hadran tries to openly communicate with the foul beast knowing it very well could be hostile.
The troll didn't answer verbally - but it did turn its head towards the corners of the room, where body parts copiously littered the floor. It growled a moment later, then spat towards the southwest corner.

Burkhardt glanced at his allies and shrugged. "If protective wards be your style, I'd raise them now." Once they had done so, he moved carefully and deliberately to the southwest corner, with the words the universe had taught him waiting behind his tongue.
Each round, using a move action to walks towards said corner, and readying a reversed lesser energetic buffer to cast at anything threatening we might find there.

Hey how about that? Fixing now while I wait for my turn :-)

*Snickers* That was a mod I made since this game was originally made as a solo one, and losing a saving throw could be nasty. Also, thematically speaking, gods regaining their power should be harder to affect than mere mortals. You are not simply adventurers with more-than-normal talents, and the rules are very much aware of this.
Hadran's blade dug into the creature, but it would clearly take several more to fell the beast - and before your eyes, you could see its body starting to repair itself as it laughed. "Fresh meat walks right into my home! I suppose I'll thank you for THAT much, at least." it said, raking out with jaws and claws.

The claws didn't do much, but it did manage to sink its jaws into Hadran's flesh, tearing off a mouthful. The lord of valor's body wasn't so easy for diseases or paralysis to affect, though...
The troll, for its part, just started swinging back and forth on the chains.

Burkhardt took a step back as he unleashed the recitation on the flesheaster, but choked on the last syllable. He felt his throat seize up: the universe insisted that he took care when speaking it's tongue, and this was his penalty for not doing so. "Erstehund, stay back."
Bleh. Well there goes a turn. -2 to truenaming checks for 5 rounds, and I can't speak above a whisper for that duration.
Erstehund should go on your turn. And yes, this thing is just undead. XD
Hadran's blade plunged deep into ghoul and twisted, but it wasn't enough to drop the undead. It was, however, quite damaged - and its wounds continued healing as it continued to rake out at Hadran, apparently ignoring Burkhardt for the moment.
That was when the troll swung in close enough to rake out at it, bellowing a hateful battle cry before its swinging motion pulled it away again.

The ghoul let out a screech as it ignited - and the troll looked all too happy to get as far away from that as it could. Between Erstehund's trip and Hadran's followup stab, the ghoul was down for the count... and Midfoviing, stuck further back in the hallway, cheerfully applauded you.

Also, FYI Hadran, you don't need to jump right into healing your wounds at the end of combat. Two of my recitations are useful for healing; the 'daily uses' mechanic is that each recitation gets harder every time I use it before eventually becoming impossible, but that is tracked on a per-recitation basis. No matter how much I chew through other recitations or abilities, these stay fresh until I use them. (Hey, wands are cheap, but free is cheaper.) I'll give you a heads up if I need to start conserving (because I can also 'reverse' them for necromancy effects), but otherwise, you can assume that Burkhardt's got you covered when the fightin's done. ;-)
Burkhardt mimed a curtsy to Midfoviing, and waited for his voice to return before he complimented Erstehund. "Bravo, faithful companion! That flank and trip was a display of teamwork at its finest!" he stated. Congratulations were in order for Hadran as well, but the god of valor was already initiating conversation with the troll again. Tireless forging ahead must be the only path Hadran knows. Well, best let him keep to it.

Victories like this must come easy to a god of valor as he seemed to act as if combat never took place. If not for him breathing heavy and beads of sweat you would never know any different. The question above mostly being rhetorical Hadran moves and begins to free the Troll first assisting on pulling or breaking the chains.
If it hadn't been for the fire, the ghoul probably would have risen again... and Midfoviing moved over to it, sniffing at it before letting out a disgusted noise and kicking its corpse away. There were, apparently, some meats even she wasn't interested in.
For its part, the troll let out a pained grunt as you unchained it, but it didn't show any hostility... possibly because you'd already displayed mastery of fire, and it definitely didn't want to piss you off.

The troll was clearly happy to hurry out - but a check around the area revealed that this seemed to be the last room on the lower floor. With a few arcane words Hadran cast Detect Secret doors and begins walking back around showing caution if or when moving through the garden as Burkhardt examines what he finds in the sack.
As Hadran spoke, Midfoviing's stomach gurgled audibly. Looking around, though, there didn't seem to be any hidden doors here - it really was just the two rooms.
Inside the bag, you found three potions of cure light wounds, an elaborate metal ring worth around 75 GP, and a hand-drawn map to somewhere in the hills beyond the estate. The scribbling on it was barely legible, but ultimately something you could decipher.

Burkhardt blinked in amazement. "Hadran, look at this. This speaks of the same language I've lost so much of, the one the multiverse itself placed in my hands as I swore to work on its behalf! Lost power, as you described!" He shoved the haversack with its other contents into Hadran's arms, and practically sprinted out of the room to follow the map clutched in his hands.

"We should follow after our new friend. He may get into trouble alone."
The two make haste and follow after.
Added potions and ring
Heading back towards the stairs was easy enough - although as you reached the top, the large field of gourds came into view again, and the rather frightened leshies could be seen off to the side, well away from some rather large, troll-ish footprints that had crashed straight through the dense patch of vegetation.
For her part, Midfoviing just saluted Hadran and followed him up the steps.

Given the plants are living beings, as little hp as they would have, would it be possible for me to try to heal them?
Per the rules on the plant type, non-creature plants are treated as objects even though they're alive. They don't have HP of the type that can be healed by positive energy (channeling, cure spells, etc.), but they can be healed by any effect that can fix objects. Plant Growth-type effects would also be effective.

checking in, sorry buys weekend around the house.
First question is how are we going to play this at start? Do Orithos and I know each other? Will we be waking up in the same temple or structure. I'm still a little iffy on my mythic path. Guardian for sure I like trickster for the path dabble just not sure if it fits. Champion or Archmage may fit the profile better. Just wondering if we will be working together as it could change some decisions. Thanks. Will adjust my crunch to your template tomorrow at work.
If it helps, Trickster would let you Path Dabble -once-. If that's all you want from the path, then I recommend not taking it.
As for knowing each other or not, you should work that out between yourselves. ^^ Do you feel that your respective histories would have allowed for knowing each other before losing your thrones? If not, it could be interesting to come face-to-face with an unknown deity who has also lost their power... or perhaps form a closer relationship with someone you may not have known too well before. There are many ways we could do this, and I'm happy to listen to what the two of you would prefer. XD

At this moment, I'm just letting you know I also got back from a busy weekend, and I'm addressing the tasks that we've been assigned. I do have something to ask though.
I don't exactly know the end result of my character, so when it comes to explaining how the character will progress when they gain more levels, what do you want me to put down? My characters are more story driven than optimized or min/maxed. I can try to optimize if you want me to, but it really depends on the events of the campaign and how the character reacts to them, not necessarily a rock solid plan that will last an entire character development.
@Hadran - Yo! I'm glad you were able to make it! For our characters, I don't mind either way. I mean, the way I see it, our characters knowing each other is circumstantial. If Rednal puts you or I in a situation where you're in battle, and my character is close, we might hear each other and come to each other's aid. The only actual way I see of us knowing each other right off the bat is if we met in the same destination when we came out of our respective temples, and joined up then.
I don't think you really NEED to optimize. XD Pick things that you feel will work well for you... and if you change your mind, well, that's what retraining rules are for.
As for explaining your progression, just list the basic idea of what you plan to focus on. ^^ You don't need to decide everything right now, after all.

@GM, what do you think of this template seems strong. So thought I would ask about it Celestial Blessed
@Orithos. I'm glad we both got in as well. I think it works better for the story if we don't know each other and we will leave it up to the GM when and if we meet. I was thinking it would be cool though if it was kind of like Highlander. So if when we get close some sort of sixth sense thing goes off and we are like who or what is that guy. Is he like me? What do you think?
Yes, it is fairly strong. ^^ It also requires you to know a celestial entity... so you'll have to acquire it at some point later on in the campaign if you'd like to take it, as no celestial entity currently knows you. A Celestial Blessing is also a major gift, and the sort of thing that would more-or-less immediately alert the entire pantheon to your presence - first as a subject of interest for having received it, and then if they realize you're more, well... possibly the subject of outright divine action.
That aside, this is also a template that can be lost - if the host dies, the celestial leaves, and you'd have to specifically work at getting it back. ^^ That will be enforced if you choose to take this template.

I was curious if it could work as your Herald, All gods have a herald. Was thinking about down the line as well. Either some celestial sees the potential and becomes your herald blessing you or b/c they are pretty much immortal, at least when it comes to aging, your old herald may one day remember you? Just looking around the only template I'm planing on taking still is Half-Celestial As Hadran was an angel before he ascended. My plan for this is probably 5th level. When we hit 5th I won't level and just burn all 3 level for the template.

Woke up vomiting and couldn't get back to sleep so I finished Hadran. Should be good to start now. Just went guardian will probably dual path into Trickster, maybe champion this way I have time to think about it. So ready to start whenever you are GM.
As far as Celestial-Blessed goes, the entity in question is quite literally inside you - which would make Herald work just a bit difficult. XD Tedious but possible, I suppose - and it's not so much that they don't remember you as they can't remember you. This is part of the curse affecting your characters.
That aside, I hope you feel better soon. ^^

We apologize for the inconvenience and inanity. She apparently is pouring on the "ditz" act, for some reason. You may go back to your previously scheduled gaming and feel free to discuss or ignore at your option.

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant
By the way, if anything in the above bothers you, I earnestly apologize; it's in the spirit of comradery and enjoyment. Mostly, I'm just saying that I'm enjoying your story and your character. It's really cool. The rest is just silly joking around on my part in-character.
To be clear, I'm the poster who made the Herald of All post. I'm following your stories because your characters are cool concepts.
If it helps to clarify things, "H'ecks-pha-czu'whaugh" and "Heksfazia" are two sides of the same character. She'll be switching forms a lot, and have slightly different personalities with the different forms. That said, though she's not an outsider, if you do ever get the chance to summon or call her, that'd be pretty funny awesome. She is not in your game at all.
Also, she very much so pretends to be less intelligent than she is. Helps people underestimate her and enables her to manipulate them more. She's also a shapeshifter, hence her final line.
If you're interested in out-of-character discussions, I would be! I love the dual connections to Saranrae: both your own (her love) and the Raven Queen's. Pretty interesting, honestly, and fascinating to watch. It's also fascinating because both you and Sevia had their relationship changed with the advent of Rovagug, though not directly through said qlippoth god's actions, but rather just in how it changed perspectives and ideals.
Further, as a big fan of Forgotten Realms, it's really interesting to see someone else's take on a newly reborn Tyr-who-is-not-Tyr. Geeking out over it, really.
If I'm at all annoying, please let me know: it's not at all my intent.
I'm really looking forward to following your progress, unless you'd rather not, and I'd have a blast chatting with you about it on occasion, if you'd like. Either way, have great gaming, and God bless you! :D

Hey, guys: I was hunting for my own character when I cam across this thing and thought it might be worth suggesting to both you and/or the Raven Queen. :D

Rednal since the ACG came out now I would like to take the cross blooded archetype I will be mixing Destined with Celestial. This will let me get the wings I wanted for the angel theme. It won't be until level 12 but thats ok. By doing this I won't be thinking about taking half celestial any more. I still would like to pursue the Celestial Blessed template, but we can also bump it up to a CR +2 instead of the +1 listed since it is pretty powerful. Still trying to work up a dude for you RoTRL game. Let me know if the above is cool thanks.
You get experience when you should be getting it. ^^ Don't worry about that - I am keeping track of it.
As for archetypes... as it turns out, you're still first level! Which, in this case, means that retraining is free - you can apply that change the next time you rest for 8 hours.
As for Celestial-Blessed, the issues with that template are plot-related. It would essentially be announcing your divinity to the entire pantheon... and will most certainly stir gods into action. ^^ Just something to keep in mind.

Think that was everything. I was thinking the haunted could be visions of his past faiures that caused him to fall. So even though he is on the path of redemption and regaining his power he still is haunted by his failures and lost love.
Oh I had to trade a trait out. I realized I had 2 campaign traits, in finding a friend/kin, and defender of the society. Defender of the society is also a combat trait if you are a fighter, but I am not. It was a campaign trait in Shattered Star and anyone could take it regardless of class. I replaced it with Blade of Mercy. Shoulc come in handy when trying to subdue targets in the future.
Looks mostly good - but I'd like you to double-check your saves. Bard 2 should have you at +3 Will, so you shouldn't be getting anything from Oracle 1 there. Class aspects that overlap (including BAB and saves) are not cumulative for gestalt characters.

Anywho, on a side note, how are you guys? It seems like all we do is type strategy and what not. Whatcha been up to? Anything interesting coming up? Kicked anyone's butt lately?
I believe I may have found Paizo's limit on watched campaigns... Ah, well. XD At least I'm having fun getting everything organized for these games - and it's given me a good excuse to really start looking through all these PDFs and adventure options...
And your level-up choices look fine to me. ^^

Nah, it just seems like 16 campaigns or so is all it really wants to show... I think... XD Have you done more yourself?

Nope!
I'm not too great of a "post for watch" type guy, though I like many ideas.
(PbPs are semi-new-again for me.)
I was just curious!
Wait wait wait...you're running 16 campaigns? O.o
No, I'm only running about six of them. I'm a player in the rest. XD
Ah...gotcha. How long have you been playing dnd related games and what got you started?

Hey Rednal, yeah I know there not cumulative, you take the best bonus offered at level up though right so like when you so bard to adds +1 to will where the new oracle level adds +2 to will or is that wrong. If so I have made every gestalt character I ever made wrong. Saves are the only place I know this gets fuzzy with level dipping and what not and taking the right levels at the right time you can get some good saves. Just let me know :) Will save will be a 9 if it is the Bard +1
@Hadran: The rules could be a bit clearer... but as was pointed out in another thread, somebody could do a Level 1 fighter/wizard, then do wizard/sorcerer at every level afterwards and basically end up with double the will save they were supposed to have, completely breaking the system. Gestalt is a high-powered variant, but not that high. XD You're not taking a +1 from the Bard at level-up - you're taking the +3 (total) increase.
@Dunmuir: Not all that long, really. XD I think my earliest exposure was a couple of Forgotten Realms books, but I never actually played the game until relatively recently - mostly, I just like Pathfinder's ability to be creative with storytelling, and I got Hero Lab to aid me with creating characters for fun. Kind of got sucked in from there.

Thats good to know, I have been doing it wrong when making higher level gestalt.

My dad got the 1.0 pamphlet when it first came out, and half way through high school, I introduced my friends to 3.0. We've gone through 3.5, and then transitioned over to Pathfinder once we saw where dnd was going. A couple of my friends have tried 5.0, though, I still prefer pathfinder. There's more of an emphasis put on actually character identity rather than "the one build to rule them all." Hell, I remember the days of Pun-Pun back on the giant in the playground boards...that was scary...(shivers).
Do you have a main at all, or someone you see as your signature character? Mine would have to be a cross between two.
Lore, my paladin, a little hotheaded, but he wields his magical kite shield into battle and gets the job done.
Tammerin is a misunderstood...well...demon summoner. He summons the nether to help the good. Kinda backwards logic, I know, but hey, it works. The only gripe I've been handed about that was when there was something I was trying to do but it was too complicated and not described in the rules, so, we just kinda dropped it. Think imps building a tower, and keeping them all in check.
