Fortitude (Orithos' second): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Knowledge can be a very helpful thing. The beasts in question are Troglodytes, reptilian monsters who typically live underground. Among other things, they're known for having surprisingly impressive fortitude and being relatively capable of stealth... but these creatures are considerably smaller than the standard Troglodyte. In fact, they seem to be juveniles.

One of them flinches slightly, and it's at that moment that a dominating spell is sent towards it...

Will Save: 1d20 ⇒ 19

...which, somewhat surprisingly, the creature actually throws off. It seems to be good fortune more than anything else, considering the fact that Troglodytes certainly aren't known for resistance to magic or being especially strong-minded. The creature in question took a step of about five feet backwards to rejoin its companion, and the two of them hurled the javelins they were holding - one towards each of the intruders.

Attack Roll (Hadran): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14 for Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Attack Roll (Orithos): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 for Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

However, perhaps due to their surprise, neither javelin is accurate enough for a hit - and the one thrown towards Hadran was so poorly thrown that it wouldn't have been dangerous to a child.

Stunned to silence, Orithos pulls himself back from further offense.

Draconic:
"Tasskar was right - you're just here to cause trouble!" One of the Troglodytes observed - though it was fairly apparent that neither of these creatures were the brightest bulbs among their species. "Leave at once!"

Each of the creatures picked up a heavy club as the advance against them stalled - and then, just a bit cautiously, they darted forward and lashed out with their weapons, clearly trying to maximize what advantages they had against their rather larger opponents.

The Troglodyte Hadran struck simply fell, unable to survive such a powerful blow. The other one, seeing his companion fall that way, let out a yelp of terror - and dropped his club before darting towards the spiral stairway that led further up into the tower.

Draconic:
"Heeeeeee! D-d-don't kill me!"

"If he doesn't awake from that, then he is most likely gone to us," he said in a fit of fright.

The moving one was gone, however, up the stairs and out of sight - clearly too panicked to stick around. The other one would have bled out soon enough on his own... but while Hadran's blow was powerful, it hadn't been instantly and irreversibly lethal.

6/16 HP.

The smelly reptilian creature opened its eyes - and, seeing the two of you, screamed and scrambled backwards as best it could ...which wasn't very well. Much like a human's form, its body wasn't designed for that kind of movement.

Making sure not to make any sudden movements, Orithos began channeling again, letting light flood out of him in waves so that the creature would feel peace, or something similar, rather than run away in fright.

Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 5

The small Troglodyte looks, by turns, extremely confused and extremely worried - which is perhaps no surprise, because his people are known for being gleefully violent towards others. In fact, the worldview of his entire species couldn't be much more opposed to either of your ideas about how the world should be. It does accept the help up, but it's clearly expecting to die at any moment, and its vile stench seems to be getting stronger because of its fear... but it doesn't talk, perhaps believing it could only make the situation worse.

The door to the spiral stairs is still open, and directly on the east side of the room. There is also a closed door to the northeast, as well as the contents of your current room to examine - though this armory-like area is filled with old items that haven't been cared for, a careful appraisal may be able to find something of value.

"That I can do," and Orithos went to work.

Speaking a word of arcane, the fiery one let his mage eye sweep over the items in the room. Additionally, he performed a second check for any weapons that might fit his fighting style, particularly a light hammer or mace.

There don't seem to be any magical auras within the room - if anything of that sort was here, it would likely have been robbed long since. There aren't any larger one-handed weapons in good condition, either, as rust seems to have claimed most of their surface.

Note that you can make an Appraise check within this room to search for anything else of value.

Meanwhile, a few sounds could be heard from up above, but it didn't seem like anyone was coming down the stairs...

Though clearly afraid, the Troglodyte closes its mouth tightly, apparently not convinced by Hadran's efforts at diplomacy. There is no reply from up the stairs - it's not immediately apparent if anyone even heard you, much less plans on replying, and the only way to find out is to go up...

What in particular is Orithos finding? Short swords, light hammers, longbows? He'd like to pick up something for use, but I don't know exactly what he sees, so I don't know what he can or can't pick up.

Orithos is finding old, rusted weapons that don't seem to be particularly useful - as mentioned, an Appraise check is necessary to search for anything useful.

It doesn't take very long to ascend to the third floor using the spiral staircase. It continues to be open up above, leading to the fourth floor, while the only door here on the third floor seems to be solidly locked. It would be possible to pick it (DC 25), though it's very solid otherwise. It might be easier to find the key than to try and break through.

The door on the fourth floor is unlocked, though it's not apparent whether the Troglodyte who escaped before went through it or darted through the door on the third floor and locked it behind him.

Letting the trog be, and trying his best not to make the creature fearful of him, Orithos calmly walked over to the supplies in the room, and began rummaging through the goods.

"Hopefully, I can find a good throwing hammer or something similar," he said nonchalantly.

Orithos' full check of the room is very thorough, but doesn't quite manage to turn up anything of value - it seems an especially keen eye (Appraise DC 20) would be needed to pull out anything of value from this storeroom of junk.

With a disappointed sigh, Orithos reluctantly followed Hadran up the stairs. "Well, hopefully, the folks up here won't be as inclined to fight."

Crude bunks line the walls of this room, which is filled with the nauseating stench of troglodytes - several of them, as it happens, made immediately apparent as you open the door. Roll three Fortitude checks - DC 11, failure causes you to become Sickened for ten rounds.

There are four of the beasts in total, including one you recognize as the one who fled up the stairs earlier - and though they all look young, it seems they're more than ready to fight.

As the fiery one arrived on the upper floor, an onslaught of nauseating scents assailed him, almost grounding him if not for the wall to brace himself against.

"Why...why in the realms did it have to be trogs?"

Four foes, but only three saves - you already saved versus one of them and are immune to their stench for 24 hours. Orithos is sickened per standard rules for ten rounds.

The responses from the guards are immediate - and very pointy. Multiple javelins are hurled through the air in rapid succession, each targeted on Hadran as the only target they could realistically reach.

Ranged Attack Roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 for Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Ranged Attack Roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 for Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

Ranged Attack Roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18 for Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1

Hadran is, however, able to deflect most of the javelins with his blade, smashing them out of the air as they come dangerously close to striking him - all except for one poorly-thrown one that abruptly swerves out of its path and avoids the counter-strike... only to fail to do any damage at all as it breaks into splinters upon contact with Hadran's body. This, young lizards, is why maintaining your weapons is important. That was just sad.

Masking his face with the upper portion of his tunic, Orithos crouched on the side of the stairs away from the trogs up ahead. Hearing a mumbling sound as if an incantation was being cast, and unsure who was casting it, Orithos realized the nausea wouldn't allow him to get Hadran out of there, but he could be saved at a later time. As a result of this conclusion, Orithos hobbled as best he could back down the steps and away from battle.

Two of the troglodytes hurl javelins again from their very small supply, clearly hoping to better luck hitting.

Attack Roll (Javelin): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 for Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1

Neither of those strikes hit - and seeing the poor performance of their weaponry, the other Troglodytes simply charge forward, slashing with their claws in an attempt to break Hadran's concentration and cut his spell off before it can finish.

Attack Roll (Claw): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 for Damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Attack Roll (Claw): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 for Damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

They seriously need some training - both claws are deflected by Hadran's armor, giving him the time he needs to finish the spell and hit one of the two groups of Troglodytes with it. Your choice of the javelin throwers or the melee attackers. Incidentally, it'd be great if you could add in the DCs for your spells, where applicable, into your alias - makes things easier to check.

Hearing Hadran roar in a language he could not comprehend only made Orithos worry even more. With javelins falling down the stairs, and sounds of battle ringing out, he knew not whether to join Hadran in the fight, and try to push through the sickness that assailed him, or to keep to a defensive position and try to wait it out.

Slowly, his health started returning to him, although the nausea still wracked his body with waves of disruption. Looking back up the stairs to find the shadow of Hadran still fighting, Orithos grabbed one of the javelins, and rushed back up the stairs.

A quick slap sent Hadran's blade well away - and that was all the opening the creatures needed for unleashing a series of vicious attacks onto Hadran, clearly looking to wear him down.

As he approached the top of the stairs, Orithos saw one trog collapsed on the ground, while the other was merely reacting to its partner's seeming death. Seeing his companion not killing them outright made Orithos think he was actually trying to give these creatures a chance, and since he trusted his companion, Orithos did what he could to assist.

Dropping the javalin he held in his hand, Orithos took position behind Hadran, and let some of his true emotions show.

Anger flowed through his eyes with a searing gaze. The flaming hair turned a brighter, hotter color, and if not for the trogs being a good distance away from him, they might have felt the heat. By use of his own nature, Orithos hoped he could subdue them in the same manner as Hadran.

"Tulok!" the injured Troglodyte said loudly (and fearfully), stepping about five feet backwards and bringing its weapon up protectively. The other Troglodyte moved backwards as well, but towards the northern door instead of the south - clearly trying to get some room between them... though it wasn't entirely clear what else they were trying to do. Both: Total Defense.

Sleeping Trogs: Round 3/10

The injured Troglodyte simply ran, moving through the southern door as his companion retreated towards the north - though he didn't open that door. <"Y-you shouldn't have done that, h-human."> the beast stammered in its native tongue - the general failure of the javelins doing exactly nothing to fill it with confidence. The reason for its words becomes clear a moment later, as a new creature steps into the room.

The other Troglodytes were on the small side - this one, not so much. In fact, it looks even larger than usual for its kind, but its reptilian hide is covered in cracks that emit a reddish-orange glow - and even as you watch, its claws begin to glow bright and hot. <"...You idiots needed me for this?"> the creature - apparently the Tulok mentioned by the other Troglodyte - asked. Its own stench filled the room, overpowering that of the other Troglodytes, as it merely looked over at Hadran - and Orithos past him. <"...Pathetic."> It wasn't quite clear whether he was referring to his companions or the people who had invaded his home. Honestly, it might have been both.

Fortitude check, DC 16 this time. Failure causes you to be sickened for 10 rounds.

Orithos be careful this one may be dangerous. I don't intend to play with it.

Thinking he might actually resist the stench of another trog, this one's odor just barely achieved success, forcing Orithos to double over. Feeling no want to fight, the fiery one placed the javelin firmly on the ground, and stated, "I do not wish to fight. We have already approached you all with intent of negotiation and peace. I dearly hope you understand the language that I speak."

Tulok glanced to the side, where one of the smaller Troglodytes was waiting, badly injured by Hadran's earlier blow. He sniffed a moment later, then took a leisurely step forward. "I'm not like those others." the strange Troglodyte said in reasonably good Common. "Even if hearing your voices is just making me madder. Couldn't even eat those other humans..." he spat to the side, a few licks of flame coming out of his mouth. His words serve as a relatively good reminder of the types of creatures his people are. They despise valor, focusing instead on strength and brutal domination... and the laws they recognize are mainly just a show of force, as the huge majority of the lizard-men are actively chaotic, evil beasts that are more than happy to murder their way through a settlement of innocents. "Still, I suppose we are all... civilized. So let's... negotiate." Tulok smiled slightly. "Surrender your equipment, join the other captives, and we might keep you as slaves. If not, I'm just going to kill you. My terms are... not negotiable." Despite his apparent ease, he seemed ready for a surprise attack. No slouch, this one... Action: Total Defense.

This room seems pretty small are we within a 5' step of one another now that he came forward? I mean can I strike him if I step up?

Sorry was going to post this but got called out of office to take care of an issue before lunch. So here goes.

You speak of being civilized when you hold humans from the village here as captives and slaves. I tried several times to talk to your people and they responded with hate and attacked. I will show you what power is beast. You rule through your power. I will take that from you.

IF I can 5' Step and Reach him.
Swift Action: Arcane Strike, Using mythic power to last 1 min and to Bane weapon.

Move Action: Start Battle Dance

5'step and free action Rage

Standard Attack w/ Destined Strike: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
Damage: 2d6 + 17 + 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 17 + (5, 5) = 34

IF not within 5' step:
We will not negotiate either. You have surrendered your life making such demands to me. I would tell you my name, but you will not have the honor of knowing who sent you to the afterlife. Now come at me if you dare.

Do all of the following except ready an attack to take 5' step and attack as he comes within range. You can 5' move with a readied action if you don't otherwise move in a round.
