I assumed the ship woke you up, but NAvarre will do so, give me a second. I wasn't sure that Navarre should answer the comm, though I guess he did make the roll

Edit:
Ship Info:
Aslan Noble stealth-Scout-ship.
100T [Aerodynamic ship hull] [normal speed in Atmos Mk3 sonic]
Armoured hull DM 3 [40p, per foot]
Main power unit Fusion [H2O]/ [Back up Batteries 3 days, life support only 12 days]
Entry by Loading ramp under ship, + 2x Iris air locks, 1 front Under flight deck, and 1 back top above engineering.
Jump Drive 1 [Fuel Depleted] But has Fuel scoops + Fuel refiner [H2O]
Hard mounts two [Top wing* Turrets but no weapons fitted]
Crew 2 [+3 Life supported] [Total 5]
Compartments: As seen in deck plans
It can take 15t of cargo, in ROOM 5 and over ships spaces.
Thrusters Space + Flight + Vertical Take off and landing.

This thing was made to be fast and light. Someones personal transport, Ships armor is light for its kind. That is down to the air streaming, as this thing moves fast in atmos, also looking at its space manoeuvrability its more like a space fighter than a scout. It has turrets but no mounted weapons, in there place is more Enhanced ships long range scanners sensors and some kind of electromagnetic Jammer system.

So what tech level is 'Steed'? More specifically does she have artificial gravity on board or are we walking around with the wonderful magnetic boots from 'The Expanse'?

Or, I might change my mood. I'm allowed to do that.

I was trying so hard not to comment, but it's been an exhausting, fun-filled day and my filters down. So, I'm doing something foolish that I'll probably regret later.

First, I'm going to chime in with a couple others and say play the system you want. I'm also going to say play the 'game' you want to play.

But it sounds like you're trying to build a game that will get people to stay. I don't think any format will guarantee that. If you want to start a game with a really good chance of not losing players, I think you'll need to be really specific about the selective process, more than about the game you're running.

Yes, give as much information about the game, your expectations and your style as possible. Then be super selective about who you pick. Be willing to ask folks you've played with, be willing to be up front about the process be willing to use unconventional methods of recruitment.

As you've said, you probably won't start until late summer. Prepare the game you want to play. When you recruit use methods that are brutally honest about what you want, then examine the applicants to see if their history matches what you're looking for.

I know all of us have had good reasons to slow down, drop out of games, or stop playing for a time. I'm not saying this to upset anyone. But numbers are real and reputations matter. Be willing to ask around a little and trust what you see and what people you've played with tell you; more than what folks say in their recruitment application.

Those all work. I was trying to figure out if the patch hole would let us get through a wall quickly or not.

YBD wrote:

Patch Hole (slotless; 7,500gp)

A patch hole is a black circle of cloth nearly identical in appearance to a portable hole. It is 6 feet in diameter, can be folded as small a pocket handkerchief, and lightly adheres to surfaces it is spread against, allowing it to easily be placed on ceilings and walls. When fully spread on a surface it bends space, creating a cylindrical hole 10 feet deep in whatever surface it was placed on. The created hole lasts for 1 minute before reverting to cloth, and may be activated three times per day as a standard action. A patch hole otherwise functions as Create Gap.

I didn't find create gap.

Monger Abebe *He that flys* wrote:

Abebe sees the terrible set up in the rooms and notes that there is nothing he has that can deal with the big robot so he thinks of a stupidly brave plan. Since we can see the small robot(SM) working at the table, it implies that the stairs are not completely surrounded by walls. He moves to the front and says, "I'll break for the area the small robot is in, drawing fire, that should make a great chance for everyone to open up on it. Whoever takes the kill switch should hold back because the item itself will be the main target."

Assuming no one blocks him, Abebe does the run of his life trying to reach cover over the left edge of the stair to where the SM is. He will dodge any attack from the really large laser armed robot(LAR). There should be limited cover after he goes over the edge. Note the he will be about half way down the stairs before jumping over any rails or equipment in the way. His final objective will be the desk the SM is working at, using it by crouching behind.

Abebe, a couple questions about your posting style to help me respond to your character better.

you said your character moved to the front, he then made a recommendation completely different than Navarres. Did you read Navarres recommendation? Was there a reason you didn't reference to it? If you felt Navarres idea was bad, a conversation would have been great. I'm not sure if you felt your idea was better why we didn't talk about it.

Second, you said 'assuming no one blocks him' then you described your actions. I don't know about anyone else, but I will NEVER stop another character from doing something they post they've done. I hate retconning so if you post an action I will try and work that action into what my character is doing. So please, don't post an action assuming someone may stop them.

Like I said, I'm just trying to understand your posting style so the game would run smoother. Last interaction you stayed completely away from combat, here your rushing in head first with apparently no other purpose than to get yourself shot. If someone didn't like Navarre's strategy I would have like to discuss it in game. Instead of someone recommending a different strategy then enacting it with no conversation, forcing the rest of us to either support said person or let them die.

Breathing a sigh of relief as Cable gets the cable unlinked just in time, Navarre, looks up at the broken guns, wondering if they were something he'd be able to repair. Mentally shaking himself, there were more important things to worry about right now. Turning to the others, "Well done everyone, especially you Cable." He gestures towards the ship and starts to move that way. "If we're going to shut down the main computer we should go back in the ship, refill our tanks and go to the Armory to get the Mind-Killer device for the bases mind core."

After refilling his oxygen tank Navarre goes to the armory. Finding the small black box with three blue lines on it he takes off his pack, hefting the item in his paw, he places it the side pocket of his rucksack. Once he's resecured his pack he heads back to the airlock waiting for his companions.

It appears that Venssa found some cool stuff, I'll not steal her thunder referring to it in character. But I would recommend that we avail ourselves of the rifles and pistols, Boom, it would seem that you can replace your 'stick' with a Shock-stick. :) We still have the three azlan lazer armor but I'd assume we'd need to take some time and make some rolls to adjust its size to fit us. I've not posted the time to do that, but if someone else wants to Navarre would help.

Now
As they move through the ancient facility, Navarre is impressed with the wealth they've found. As it dawns on him what this find will do for his clan, he starts to be humbled. They would be celebrated as heroes, but they'd only done what any true clan member would have. Realizing they'd gathered at the door to the control room, Navarre focus on the task at hand. Dropping his pack, he takes out the small black box with the three blue lines. "Steed said we needed to put this in one of the control slots." He looks at the others, "I'm assuming the 'mind' will do everything to protect itself, so we need someone fast to place it." Giving a light smile, "We all know I'm not that fast, especially for a Varg, but I can distract it with my shot gun. So, I'll be the first in the door." He gestures towards the torch. "Who's going to cut the door open, who's going to follow me in with the cube and who's going to give suppressing fire with those fancy Aslan lasers?"

If were going with my plan, we need someone to cut the door in, someone to follow Navarre into the room to plant the cube and the other two to be ready to shoot. Or we can do something else.

Have at both the pistols Cable :)

Resting the pistols on the nearby console, Navarre shakes his head in response to Abebe, "Abebe, keep looking for a map, maybe figure out where the hanger is, I'll deal with the robot."

Drawing his shotgun from its scabbard on his rucksack, Navarre peaks around the corner. Exhaling, he rushes around the doorway towards the security robot. Getting as close as he can, he fires the shotgun point blank, as he tries to get past the robot.

The intent is to move towards the robot and hopefully past. I'll roll both the attack and the move. Since he is shooting first then going past, I'll roll in that order.
Shooting: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 5) + 1 = 7 hit?: 1d6 ⇒ 5
co-ordination: sprinting?: 2d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5, 2) + 1 + 1 = 9

Handing the obsidian dagger to Zeetri Ivar quips, "My föður says vone can never have too many knives." He watches as Selja casts the spells in a dance-like fashion. He noted the spells were lovely to watch but decided it wouldn't be very practical in combat. In aww of the sights and sounds of the spells and stepped back as the light flashed down and eradicated the pile of dust and ash.

Pausing, he would have sworn he heard the song of a tufted titmouse. As Khumla begins to speak, Ivar, trying to clear his mind, shakes his head and watches her fade away. The spells over, Ivar raises an eyebrow as Moira surrounds Zeetri with the skeletal soldiers. Relieved it was his friend instead of himself, he turns towards the door near the throne "So have you explored der whole crypt?" He then inspects the door making sure it was clear of traps, then attempts to open it.

Earlier
Seeing Cable moves towards the lockers, Navarre twists the nob on his 'anytool' and used it as a flashlight so Cable could see what he was doing. As they emptied the lockers he stuffs the three hand pistols in his rucksack. Stuffing the upper body armor in bag, he hefts them over his shoulder.

Now
Once they get the gear loaded and the doors open, he draws his shotgun, carrying it in one paw and the duffel bag in the other. Keeping a keen eye out as they move along he tracks he's relieved to see the stairs climbing up. Moving carefully up the spiral set of steps, moving through the Iris door into the corridor, he asks, "Lets try the PDL see if it can open any of these."

Did the robots come with us?

Just spit-balling ideas about how folks might know each other.

edit: Tribim grew up a street rat in the poorer part of Wati (Bargetown) and was 'discovered' by a priestess from the temple of Bastet. Hired to be a dancer at the temple. That should give opportunity for him to know a couple of folks.

outside the inn
Keeping Storm at a pace where he could listen to Kisaiya speak, Rory listened, not sure how to respond. He listened as Mukluk apologized, not that Mukluk really had anything to apologize for, but he was right, it would have been hard. Sadly, or actually, fortunately, Rory didn't really have anything to compare it to. He talked about his people freeing slaves, but that had been in his grandfather's time. He'd grown up safe in Wolves Den surrounded by kinfolk. Sure, it was a rough life, but happy and healthy none the less.

As he pondered the differences between his upbringing and Kisaiya's, Storm moved closer to the big one-eyed cook, Rory realized the wolf was planning on licking her hand. This time, he didn't stop the wolf. Sometimes the best you could do was let someone know your there with them, and nothing says that better than a warm hand lick from a furry friend.

inside the inn
Relieved that Ameiko had picked a large table, Rory climbed into a high-backed chair and let Storm move under the table. As Rory took off his pack and dropped it to the floor, Storm sniffed everyone's feet and then spun around three times and curled up in a ball near Rory's chair (hoping the halfling would drop him scraps.) Happily, 'wolfing' down the food the Inn provided, Rory spent most of his time focusing the food and drink, instead of the conversation. He was surprised by the burning dessert, he never seen such a thing, and it was quite delicious as well.

Raising an eyebrow as Ameiko interrupted the dessert with her very serious question, Rory looked towards the others as he mentally answered the question. Having joined the Rangers for a small time, officially he'd been a part of a group but never actually 'formed' one. He blinked as Mukluk asked if she meant a 'Troupe.' Smiling to himself, the dwarf did have an interesting way of looking at things; Though Durgan's answer was more along the lines of what he'd expected.

Smiling, he wipes some of the desert from his mouth with his sleeve, "I'd love to join a group going north, see the world and all that." He nods towards Ameiko, "I can follow orders, or take votes." As he speaks he lifts the porkchop bone off his plate and slips it to the wolf, smiling, "Though Storm tends to like to do his own thing."

Seeing Leothar surge forwards as well, Ian knew it was too tight for him to get in clase. Instead he keeps his sword raised, this time moving it in a Dazzling Display, attempting to intimidate their foes.

5 ft step, full action Dazzling Display
intimidate: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30 if evil + 2
For all of you:
Mythic Focus: Whenever a mythic ally that is within 30 feet uses the surge ability, it rolls its bonus die twice and takes the higher result.
Iomedae's Inspiring Sword: 2nd of 2 rds. While wielding a longsword, you can perform an impressive display of prowess as a full-round action. All allies within 30 feet who can see your display gain a +2 sacred bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks for 1 round + 1 round per 5 points of base attack bonus you have.

Cool, I'm fine with that, my first concern was if we only had a couple of days then needed to be back to work (like a weekend). The second concern was one character narrating an event that impacts all of us instead of speaking with the other characters and Abebe's response satisfied my frustration.

Since he posted on Friday, he may have been talking about us the players, being the survivors, and that we weren't posting over the weekend. However several of us, including the GM, posted over the weekend. So, I assumed our characters stopped working on Friday night and went to our favorite hangout to start the weekend in game. Again, an assumption on my part. But I did address it in game.

Chuckling at Durgan's responce, Rory is about to respond when Kisaiya enters the conversation. He listens, as the tall cook speaks of fairness and reciprocity. Durgan's logic makes sense, Rory wasn't sure he'd carry someone that didn't want to walk either. Had he really said that he expected the dwarf to carry Storm? He really just meant he'd need help lowering him down. Funny how things don't sound the way you mean them when it's repeated back. When the dwarf asks the cook her preference, Rory stops daydreaming and listens to her comment. Raising an eyebrow as she says she doesn't have one but is concerned with 'tenets of the code.' Rory blinks, the cook had a code involving harmony and peace. Looking up at her as she says she would assist him, he blinks again and smiles; being as surprised by her as he'd been by Durgan. Nodding he puts his hand to his chest. "Thank you Kisaiya."

Turning towards Durgan he smiles, "I'm Sorry, the whole thing seems to be a misunderstanding. First, if we are in a situation where we have to climb down the face of a cliff, yes, I'll need help. But other than that, Storm and I will do just fine."

Reaching down he pats Storm on the head. "Second, you asked if the wolf and I are so attached that we cannot be parted, the answer is absolutely. Generations back when my folks were slaves, we had no defense against the humans. Many of us escaped into the woods, some of us were befriended by wolves, a lot of the others were recaptured or killed. The wolves helped us survive and we became wolf riders. My people have been breeding and working with wolves ever since, forging trails through the Sanos helping other slaves escape. With this wolf I'm equal to any human, elf, dwarf or orc and in many ways their better. Why would I leave him anywhere, especially if we're expecting a fight?"

He shrugs lightly, "As for the swamp or the cliff. Third, If we go through the swamp we'll move slow enough that Storm and I can blaze a trail. You won't get more than your boots wet and I'll make it clear enough so that even without me you'll be able to find your way out." He holds up a finger. "Fourth, if we take the cliff, and things go to s!#! and we need out in a hurry, are you going to be able to climb the cliff before the undead get you? Or will you take your chances trying to run through the uncharted swamp."

He shrugs. "I think knowing how you'll get out of a rough spot make sense, instead of just dropping into one."

He looks around the table as he scratches Storm between the ears, smiling nonchalantly, knowing if they didn't get out of town soon, they may as well stay for second breakfast. "No reason we can't talk about it on the way though, right?"

The post length isn't an issue, but if I were to make a request it would be to take advantage of the OOC brackets for things that you as a player want to communicate to us as players, and use "bold" for Abebe to actually speak to the other characters. If you want us to know what he's thinking or planning use the Italics.

Also, I'd prefer you ask the other characters to sign the sheet or to doe the inventory check instead of narrate that they do. I get it if the GM is doing narration like that to move the game along, but I'd rather players never assume my characters actions. I know it feels like a small thing but I post too much and too often, and the conversation helps keep people involved in the game.

edit: The lists, if that's something you wanted the characters to be aware of, and didn't want to 'say it' he could have said he'd written a list and offered it to whoever wanted to read it, then put the lists under a spoiler.

Last night
Raising an eyebrow about Durgan's comment about 'Prudent' Rory resisted the urge to comment that 'Prudent' would be to stay home. But when they got to the shop he watched as Durgan haggled making sure a fair price was had for all. Shaking his head Rory Realizes he still had a lot to learn about people. Pleased with the prices Durgan help him get for the Mastiff armor and helping sell their older armor, Rory turned to him as they exited Savah’s Armory Rory turned to the religious dwarf, "Durgan I want to thank you for helping me get a fair price. I underestimated you, thought you were being a stick in the mud when you commented about the wand. But I realize now you were just being frugal."

Turning to the others, he added, "I'll see you all in the morning, I need to let Storm run a little." Having gotten the new armor on his wolf, Rory mounted and headed off towards the lost coast road gate. After they blew off some steam, Rory, not seeing a reason to go clear back out the ruins he was camping in, returned to the open area just east of the church and graveyard. Keeping a small fire by the watch tower, he cooked the last of the snake meat, sharing it and the last of the tubers with Storm. Settling down there in the shadow of the tower, knowing the wolf will keep watch.

This morning
As they rode from one end of town to the other Rory mentally counted his coins to make sure he could purchase breakfast. Entering 'Inn' Storm quickly headed to where the tall woman and beardless dwarf were waiting. Arriving in just enough time to hear the Inn owner ask about their plans, Rory dismounted Storm directly to an empty chair. While Storm moved under the table, Rory listened to Kisaiya's answer. Raising an eyebrow as the tall cook gave her employer the fan. It was a nice gift.

As Mukluk pointed out that there were places on the map to explore, he chuckled when the dwarf said it was the 'best' plan. Pointing at the half-eaten scone on Mukluks plate, Rory turned to Ameiko adding, "The best plan was stopping here to eat breakfast. I'm so tired of eating snake. Can I have two of the scones and a rasher of Bacon?"

Once the conversation with the inn keeper is over, Rory turns to Mukluk, asking, "So are you bringing Moose today?"

Now that the officers have a little time to look around the notice the deck they are on and the cabin doors at the aft of the broken ship.
B9. Gun Deck
This deck once held rows of ballistae, several of which form a broken pile of debris at the aft end of the deck, partially blocking the doors there. The cargo hatch down to the hold (area B13) is askew. The pale crustaceans infesting the deck are harmless.
B10. Armory
The good wooden door to this section of the ship is locked with a corroded good lock (hardness 5, hp 15, Break DC 18, Disable Device DC 27).

Inside:
Inside are stores of ammunition and weapons. Most of the wooden weapons here are sodden and warped, and only six ballista bolts are undamaged. These are +1 distance adamantine light ballista bolts. There are also spare weapons—cutlasses, handaxes, and daggers—for the crew, but all are corroded by seawater.

B11. Officers’ Quarters
This cabin was the private quarters for three of the ship’s officers. Sea chests and wooden furniture lie scattered about. The putrefying mortal remains of Vargus Brack (still recognizable due because of his peg leg) rest on the floor. A potion, still unused, lies on the floor, and the sea chests contain stashes of coins worth 168 gp in total.
DC 25 Heal:
Despite the corpse’s advanced state of decomposition, you notices he sustained extensive scalding burns around the time of death. Vargus was struck by the dragon turtle’s breath weapon and almost passed out from pain, but managed to stagger belowdecks to his quarters where one of his fellow officers kept a spare potion of cure moderate wounds. Vargus lost his balance as the ship lurched wildly, striking his head and falling unconscious just as the Brine Banshee started to sink

B12. Passenger’s Cabin
An upturned sea trunk lies in the corner of this sparsely furnished passenger’s cabin. The trunk contains ten female noble’s outfits and other feminine garments, but all are severely water damaged. At the bottom is a jewelry case holding necklaces and other jewelry worth 700 gp.

When you continue (if you chose to do so) do you swim down the enclosed stair case, swim down the cargo hatch or swim out of the wreck and proceed into the hold from the open hull?

Listening as Abebe described the equipment and upgrades built into the vehicle, Navarre knew that the vehicles functonality would be the difference between success and failure. Smilng at Venssa comment, he nods in agreement, "I think that's a good idea." he adds, "I know I'll be getting my shotgun."

Relieved that Venssa had been able to print a high-res picture of the map Navarre gently accepted it as she talked about it leading to something important. When she voiced her concern about the sheriff, Navarre shakes his head, "We will all share the responsibility with you, besides it's not like we did anything 'illegal'."

Smiling a toothy smile at Feeder of Many and Digger Boom, Navarre holds up the device that he'd assembled in one hand and the map in another. Nodding in agreement with Abebe, Yes come look too!"

Seeing where Abebe was pointing, Navarre stepped back out of the way so Feeder and Boom could look at the map. As the old farmer looked at the map, Navarre hoped it was something interesting. They had the weekend, it shouldn't be too difficult to go look explore in the morning. Anything to do something different than repairing filtration systems.

Looking from Kisaiya to the dwarves, Rory is happy to discuss options, But he doubted if the goblins would give up their ears willingly. When Mukluk asked if anyone could speak goblin, Storm turns and gives a happy 'woof' wagging his tail. Meanwhile, Rory rolls his eyes, "Don't believe him, I don't speak Goblin and neither does Storm."

Looking up from the piece of equipment at his human friend, Navarre considered snarking about machinery losing fluids, but it wouldn't be as funny as Cable's joke. Instead, he greets him, "Hey Cable."

Realizing Abebe was heading their way, Navarre reaches out and accepts the pint, lifting to Venssa, "He's right, at least come over and tell us if you jettisoned anyone today."

Momentarily he turned back to the piece of equipment he was trying to rebuild. He didn't recognize the coupling at all, Maybe if he knew what mining period it was from, he could narrow his search down. Knowing Cable had an interest in Xeno medicine Navarre turned the 'handle' towards the medic. "Hey Cable, Pa and I found this broken at the bottom of a narrow shaft, near the oldest parts of a nearby shaft. I'm trying to figure out what era it may be from." He points at a mark on the handle, "Do you think it might be 'Aslan'? This looks like it might be a slot for a 'dew' claw."

Looking over at Abebe, "You ever seen anything like it Abebe?"

His eyes widening, Ian watches as Leothar disarms the evil dwarf. Realizing he'd waited to long to use his defensive measures, Ian cannot help Leothar as he is slashed viciously with a knife. As Dadna steps forwards swinging her Dorn Dergar and Ardriel fires again, Ian moves besides Dadna, calling on his Bastion of Good to protect his friends from the dwarf.
