About Alexio Casara
Alexio Casara (aka Gauntlet) Human Male
NG Vigilante 1
Background:
1. What is your character’s name? Alexio Casara
2. How old is your character? 21
3. What would somebody see at first glance (i.e. height, weight, skin color, eye color, hair color, physique, race, and visible equipment)? Alexio is of average height with an athletic build, he has dark hair, a constant five o’clock shadow, and piercing eyes. He wears a leather apron and workbelt with various woodworking tools. As Gauntlet, he wears dark blue hued clothing over a blackened chain shirt. He has a hood he can pull up when necessary but even so he wears a midnight blue mask that covers all but his eyes. He wears a cestus on each arm, carries a chakram at his belt, along with a pair of daggers.
4. What additional attributes would be noticed upon meeting the character (i.e. Speech, mannerisms)? Alexio is friendly and can be drawn into a conversation about the day or local politics. He’s obviously strong for someone his size but then again, one expects a carpenter to be strong.
5. Where was your character born? Where were you raised? By who? Alexio was born in Kintargo to Varisian parents.
6. Who are your parents? Are they alive? What do they do for a living? Alexio’s father Maximillian was a carpenter and furniture maker, his wife Rita managed the storefront. They were quite prosperous. However, a noble was embarrassed when a rival gifted one of Maximillian’s dinner sets to the mayor. The noble, in anger and unable to strike back at his rival directly, had Maximillian’s furniture store burned. Maximillian was present and tried to stop the thugs who showed up. He was knifed and the shop was burned.
7. Do you have any other family or friends? Several friends in and around town. No one particularly close.
8. What is your character’s marital status? Kids? Single, no children.
9. What is your character’s alignment? Neutral Good
10. What is your character’s moral code? Leave people to their own devices unless it is negatively affecting others. As Gauntlet he looks for ways to protect the common folk from the overreach of the nobility and the violence inherent in the Kintargo government.
11. Does your character have goals? To protect the innocent and find and destroy the noble who had his father killed.
12. Is your character religious? Not really, he believes there is a being that created the universe but that those calling themselves gods are not that being.
13. What are your character’s personal beliefs? The unknown Creator made all things including the gods who act as intermediaries.
14. Does your character have any personality quirks (i.e. anti-social, arrogant, optimistic, paranoid)? Alexio is friendly with those who come into his shop and gets out and about his neighborhood to see how the other shopkeepers are doing. As Gauntlet he is quiet, direct when he does talk, and gets straight to business.
15. Why does your character adventure? For vengeance and to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
16. How does your character view his/her role as an adventurer? Skirmisher.
17. Does your character have any distinguishing marks (birth-marks, scars, deformities)? Nothing that stands out.
18. How does your character get along with others? As Alexio he gets along with everyone. As Gauntlet, he pursues results and does not go out of his way to make friends.
19. Is there anything that your character hates? Bullies, criminals, Kintargo nobility.
20. Is there anything that your character fears? Failing to protect others and the loss of his mother.

Dual Identity: Alexio Casara skilled woodworker and Gauntlet fearsome protector of the people both NG
Seamless Guise: A vigilante knows how to behave in a way that appears perfectly proper and normal for his current identity. Should anyone suspect him of being anything other than what he appears to be while either in his social or vigilante identity, he can attempt a Disguise check with a +20 circumstance bonus to appear as his current identity, and not as his other identity.
Vigilante specialization: Avenger. An avenger gains a base attack bonus equal to his vigilante level instead of using those listed on Table: The Vigilante.
Social Talents
Renown (Ex): The vigilante becomes known for deeds and abilities regardless of his current identity. This renown grants him favorable treatment in civilized company and lends him an air of menace while facing down his enemies. While he is in his social identity, a vigilante can spend 1 week gaining renown among the locals of any community of no more than about 200 individuals (a village, if using settlement population ranges). This could be the entire community or a smaller neighborhood in a larger settlement. He must spend at least 4 hours each day socializing and making contacts. After spending 1 week doing this, whenever he is in his social identity, all NPCs in the community have a starting attitude toward him that is one category better, as long as each person’s initial attitude would have at least been indifferent (see the Diplomacy skill description). While he gains renown in an area using his social identity, he also spreads rumors and tales about his vigilante identity. Once he has gained renown in a community, he gains a +4 circumstance bonus on Intimidate checks whenever he is in his vigilante identity. This bonus applies only while he is near the community in which he has gained renown; he must be within a number of miles equal to his vigilante level. A vigilante can hold renown in a limited number of communities (normally one, with other social talents allowing two). If he gains renown in a new community, he must decide which one of his previous communities to lose. These effects are subject to GM approval. For example, the GM might rule that an NPC or monster has not heard any tales about the vigilante. Or, a foe may have a starting attitude toward him that’s one category worse, rather than one category better.
