Use your reroll, maybe, if you have one? With your lucky number being 6 you have a 65% chance at success :) Not great odds, but decent.

Everyone is up except Kane and Baldrun at the moment
I posted here and I haven't seen an action from the nightmare since them, so are you sure I am up? If so, what did it do in its turn? Maybe you meant the AoO? If so...
phaeton_nz
|
It dimension doored that provoked the AOO - that was it's turn
Ting Tang
|
Everyone is up except Kane and Baldrun at the moment
IF the creatures teleport was it's last move, Ting attacked with an AOO, then moved and readied attack, so I believe he's gone this round. If that's not correct please let me know.
phaeton_nz
|
Oh yes. Ting readied so that counts as him gone too
Alexis "The Odd" Trismegistis
|
"Uh-oh..."
Alexis backs away carefully after where realizing the apparition's gone, and draws a wand - a slender reed tipped with an ovoid ruby - in preparation to aid those who need it.
I ready an action to use my cure light wounds wand on the first injured person to come up next to where I am now.
readied heal-of-opportunity: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Syllyn
|
It dimension doored that provoked the AOO - that was it's turn
After that Syllyn moved and started a performance. So now that he has rolled his AoO, Syllyn is done.

A spiritual weapon does not get an AOO as it is a spell effect, not a creature - yes I had to look it up :)
| The Shining Knight |
His mind befuddled by the nightmare creature's magic, The Shining Knight perceives the one who tried to help him--Baldrum Battlehand--as a terrible demon from the Abyss! "Back foul demon-dwarf, lest your touch taint my virtue!"
I'm a bit confused [both in and out of game ;)] so if it's not my turn, please hold this off for next round.
Confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 95
Result: Attack nearest ally--sorry Baldrum, nothing personal!
First Attack Baldrum w/ +1 limning longsword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Second Attack Baldrum w/ +1 limning longsword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

The creature seems rather relieved that it's still intact, even though it looks like it was about to dissipate so it vanishes again - basically withdrawing from combat. No one is near it so it does that safely.
We will stay in initiatives as the Shining Knight is still Confused and has struck at Baldrum.
Everyone is up.
| The Shining Knight |
"And taste my enchanted steel twice more for good measure, thou heartless subterranean varlet!"
Confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 95
Huh, what are the odds? Baldrum gets two more whacks!
First Attack Baldrum w/ +1 limning longsword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Second Attack Baldrum w/ +1 limning longsword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Baldrum Battlehand
|
Sorry, forgot to amend Baldrum's tagline after Syllynn cast mage armor on him (Link) which lasts 1 hour. With AC 21 all attacks of The Shining Knight whould miss the monk. And as he identified the confusion spell, he knows what it can make the victim do, right?
Fortunately, Baldrum is wise enough to know what confusion can do to a person. He sees the attacks coming and dodges out of the way.
"Snap out of it, dammit! Or I'll make you!"
Baldrum casts protection from evil from his wand on The Shining Knight again.
(granting him another save with the +2 morale bonus vs DC 17)
Come on, TSK, you can do it! ;-)
Syllyn
|
Syllyn moves up to the shining knight and goes on defensive, giving him another target if he goes bonkers again.
AC 29 on total defense.
"You should back away, Baldrum, in case he attacks again. I'm all armored up and should be very hard to hit."
Baldrum Battlehand
|
Good idea, Syllyn. If our GM allows a 5-foot-step away, Baldrum will do so!
Ting Tang
|
Realizing shiny was acting a little odd, Ting rests his exotic bastard sword on his shoulder and steps back towards the hall until Shiny gets whatever it is worked out. "Oh, tha bloke seem's a bit off kiltery, wroight?"
phaeton_nz
|
A five foot step is a legitimate move - I'll allow it
Baldrum Battlehand
|
Thanks! :-D I moved Syllyn and Baldrum accordingly on the map.
Syllyn
|
Thanks. I hadn't realized I failed to move Syllyn's token.

Alexis waits to see if anyone needs healing, and since there's nothing to shoot at, the gunslinger also waits to see if the Shining Knight stands down.
We move to the next round, everyone who wants to act may do so.
| The Shining Knight |
"Quick, devoted boon-companions! We must find and slay this maleficent evil-doer before it is too late!"
The Shining Knight rushes towards the center of the room and whirls about, trying to find the nightmarish creature.
Double move.
New save vs Protection from Evil: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 2 = 10
Confusion result: 1d100 ⇒ 23
Result: Act Normally!
Hey Baldrum, aren't you supposed to be making a touch attack to bop me with that wand, you evil enemy you! ;)
Ting Tang
|
Holding his spot near the hallway, ting watches Shiny, hoping the human maintains his present state of normalcy. Responding, "We's'l be's after 'er in a jiffy, you's jus'make sure yer bloody 'ead is screwed on toight, wroight."
| The Shining Knight |
"Fear not, bird-friend Ting! I keep my wits as tightly gripped as a miser does gold!"
Syllyn
|
With a sigh Syllyn moves next to the metal headed ally and takes up a defensive position again.
"I'm a little worried he will dash off."
Baldrum Battlehand

Baldrum would appreciate some healing...

Baldrum would appreciate some healing...
Consider yourself to have received my heal-of-opportunity, then.
Alexis emits a barely-audible sigh of relief as the horror flees, and hesitantly attempts to mend The Shining Knight's body, since it's clearly easier than tending his mind!
Also, DM permitting, I'd like to say I did more of the same last round:
wand of cure light wounds on The Shining Knight: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
This round (as said, if permitted):
She then turns back to aiding Baldrum.
wand of cure light wounds on Baldrum: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
"Apropos surely of nothing," she mentions to Syllyn as she notices him still looming over her, "It may interest you to know the Palatine Eye does a great deal of charity in the form of asylums for the mentally-pandemoniacal."

We should step to the next round
| The Shining Knight |
The Shining Knight strikes various dramatic poses while reciting a strange, incoherent litany of shouted phrases featuring words like "forsooth", "mayhaps", and "oubliette".
Confusion Result: 1d100 ⇒ 26
Babble incoherently? I can do that!
Ting Tang
|
Lulling his tongue in a tengu smile as Shiny reiterates that he keeps his wits as tightly gripped as a miser does gold ting steps forwards ready to head forwards. As the helmeted human starts to babble incoherently, ting shakes his head and steps back into the hall's entry.
Baldrum Battlehand
|
"Thank you, Alexis." Looking at TSK babbling incoherently, Baldrum shakes his head and puts back his seemingly useless wand. He 5-foot-steps over to his Sansetsukon and picks it up.
Whether TSK starts acting up again or not: I think it'll better to disarm him - just to be safe...

Anyone else? Otherwise let's see what happens in the following round.
| The Shining Knight |
"Ah, the fiend appears to have slipped our net! But my instincts are unimpeachable, and now the game is afoot!" So saying, the Shining Knight points his sword to the south and charges forward at full speed!
Doing a double move into the (currently covered on the map) Area # 4.
Confusion Result: 1d100 ⇒ 20
Result: Act normally.
Syllyn
|
Almost as if reading Ting's mind, Syllyn suggests "Maybe we should just let him go and follow at a distance until he comes to his senses?"
Though I'm not sure if that is much of an improvement.

The Shining Knight finds ... nothing of interest
Although that long hallway up ahead does look rather familiar.
Anyone else acting this round or shall we move on
Baldrum Battlehand
|
That knight's a lunatic, that's for sure...
"Good idea, Syllyn."

|
Just to save time, could the Shining Knight give me two more confusion rolls before the spell runs out.
| The Shining Knight |
The Shining Knight begins shouting something about corsets, windmills, and chamber pots before suddenly wheeling around and charging back the way he came, his blade leveled at Ting's throat! "Thou avian cur! Thou feathered menace! Thou bird-beaked fiend!"
Confusion Roll #1 : 1d100 ⇒ 38
Result: Babble Incoherently.
Confusion Roll #2: 1d100 ⇒ 79
Result: Attack nearest creature.
Charge attack at Ting: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 2 = 21
damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Syllyn
|
Syllyn has his sword up ready to defend, but finds he is not the target. And fortunately another one does not come.
"We good now, Shining?"

Baldrum uses detect magic to monitor how long the confusion spell is still active on TSK. When the enchantment aura is finally gone, he sighs with relief.
"The confusion spell is over, he should be back to "normal" - whatever that means..."
Yes, he indeed does the finger quotes. :-P
Ting Tang

Stepping back from the failed attempt, ting warns the unstable human, "Oy! you's gonna attack 'is tengu you's bloody well pack's a floggin' lunch an' bring some floggin' friends."
Hearing Syllyn's question and Baldrum's statement about the 'spell' being over, ting holds his exotic bastard sword at the ready, watching the disturbed human.
All right, where to?
| The Shining Knight |
By all accounts, The Shining Knight seems to be denial of the idea that the nightmarish creature overcame his will.
"Ah, good old Ting Tang, my boon companion! Fear not -- twas' but a clever ruse on my part to draw out our villainous foe by perpetuating the illusion of dissension in our ranks! But that ghostly devil is clever indeed, and continues to stalk us from the shadows, poised to strike. Yet, I shall not lower my guard," he says, continuing the rather long speech, "until the real maidens are rescued and the arch-fiend destroyed forever!"
@GM: There's a bit of the map covered just to my token's left and right that I think I have line of sight to--anything there?

And if you believe that, there's this Chelaxian prince that needs assistance.
The rooms marked '6' are humble shrines provided the crusaders with a place to worship and give offerings. Each shrine features a small altar, religious carvings, and a shelf for holy books. From north to south, the shrines are dedicated to Aroden, Sarenrae, Torag, and Shizuru.
It's about now that two ghostly apparitions float out of the corridor marked '1', presumably attracted by the strong emotions. These strange ghostly creature seems to writhe in the throes of some uncontrollable emotion.
Initiatives:
Alexis: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Baldrum Battlehand: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Syllyn: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
The Shining Knight: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Therin Baldaros: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Ting Tang: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Tuke Aran: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Red: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Green: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
It looks like everyone except Alexis and Ting are up before them.
