As they talk, Rory has an idea about fabricating wands. Turning towards Kisaiya he asks, "Hey Kisaiya, that fancy sword let you airwalk, is that something it could do for others?" He smiles, "And would it be able to help make a wand to airwalk? I'm wondering what Storm would think about that sort of thing."

Mukluk pauses to think about the request, and that how he'll need to help from Koya to get it done. He nods slowly, thinking about how best to proceed.
"Ayep, we can do that. We can do that for sure. But we'll need to butter up Moose before, you know, to make sure he'll be on board," Mukluk replies.
Mukluk nods at Durgan. "You want to help me butter up Moose? It'll be fun. I'll go get butter and you get a spatula."
Eventually, Mukluk will work with Koya to complete the request.

Kisaiya scratches her head at Rory’s question. ”Uh, well the way I see it, Suishen is its own person, so I would just ask it. I’m not even really its owner, just its wielder, so I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving it, well, orders, you know?” She respectfully holds up Suishen in its scabbard. ”Just be respectful when you ask it, Rory. Not only is it an important royal artifact, but its very old and swords are very sacred to the Empress of Heaven, Patron of Minkai.”

Scratching his head, Rory pauses. He was used to talking to Storm, the wolf was a living creature. It wasn't weird speaking to a living creature, Mukluk talked to Moose, he was a living creature. Even the new helmet was an angel in the shape of a hat, and Mukluk spoke to it, as Durgan had. Maybe it wasn't weird speaking to inanimate objects, but it felt like it.

You’re plodding along, descending the mountainside a few days past the peak (Sarenith 11 a Sunday) when you spy a couple of rough towers in the pass ahead. As you close, you are hailed.
This dark-furred creature raises a spiked morningstar, its tiny, milk-white eyes glittering with the thrill of the coming battle. Yet it first cries out to the party in rough common, ”Ho there! We’ll be taking some of your goods if you want to pass beyond these towers!“ He gestures to the nearly half dozen well built hairy bastards on the road before you - and you can’t help but see the archer to his right with a massive bow. A few other creatures can be seen carefully surrounding the caravan - though they all keep their distance for now.
Some bugbears have an appetite for the flesh of sapient creatures, though they prefer consuming others over eating their own kind. They often keep groups of captives for weeks, killing and consuming them one at a time.

New map up! I’ve front-loaded the party in the lead wagons. Some encounters are supposed to be ‘caravan’ encounters, which are boring and lame, so I’ll be converting a few to regular encounters. In these cases, the NPCs are facing foes of their own and cannot directly aid you - Ameiko excepted of course.
As tensions are high, please limit your actions to one round, and chatter too of course. It is a move action to descend from a wagon.

Not really believing the creatures were only interested in 'some' of their goods, Rory starts to move Storm toward the second wagon where Kisaiya is riding. As he moves, he hears Mukluk say the beasts were either bugbears, or bearbugs. Not really sure the difference the stores the information and asks his friend and her friends sword, "Kisaiya, Mister Sword, remember we were talking about 'air walk'? Do you think this might be a good time to test it on Storm? I think we can get to those two archers on the top pretty quick."
Not wanting to overstep he adds, "Unless you want to Kisaiya, I mean it is your sword." Shaking his head, "Well, I know it's Ameiko's sword, and she lent it..." He looks up towards the snarling bare bug bed bear. "never mind, you know what I mean."

Seeing their finest warrior transport to the top of the tower, Rory knew it was up to the rest of them to stall the creatures until Kisaiya and Durgan could return. Wanting to slow the enemy down until his friends return, Rory contemplates the few spells at his disposal. Making his decision, he turns towards the enemy, casting stone call. Placing the center of the gravel storm so that as many of the creatures and as much distance between them and the caravan could be covered.

Mukluk stares at the 5 bugbears in the road, not really sure why he is in front facing them all, and he gulps.
"Uh, that's not good. Not good at all," Mukluk counts the number of bugbears that he and Moose face. "I think that's five. Did you count the same number, Moose? Five of them? Well, that's not good at all. Usually, we face zero bugbears, and that's a good number to face. Five is too many, right Moose? We prefer zero."
Mukluk offers a glitterdust to green, orange, & purple. He stands up. No way to retreat when he has to protect Moose. DC 20 Will vs. blind.

Kisaiya shakes her head at the bugbears as she appears behind them. ”You will not be taking anything from us, nor anyone else.” Having practiced more with Suishen, Kisaiya is finally able to incorporate it into her self-taught fighting style, and she settles into the stance before slashing twice at the closest bugbear.

Mukluk goes to scratch his head, and remembers that Hergarval exists when his hand doesn't hit scalp.
"Oh Hergie! I forgot you were there! HAW! HAW! Did you want to go help Stormy? Stormy could use some help, I think, that's for sure. Them bugbears don't look very nice and I have to stay here and protect Moose," Mukluk speaks aloud.

Kisaiya turns up the heat, smacking the bugbear twice, with a crit! Yet, he does not quite fall… Rory spurs Storm forward, but finds little purchase in their joint attacks - both miss. Durgan indeed smashes the leader fiercely! And still does not fail, though he looks to be hanging by a thread! Mukluk scorches orange (hit!) while Hergarval aids Storm gladly. Ameiko double moves up as she continues to inspire (+2).

Kisaiya, with her forehand severs the arm reaching out to touch her, and the rest of the leader drops to the ground as well. Her backhand wounds the archer. Rory and Storm both hit yellow, though the burly fighter is not dragged down. Durgan wallops the archer as well! Mukluk hits orange again, and is disappointed to see him still up - though surely he’s on his last legs. Ameiko sees the arrayed enemies before them, and sees what they can take, and changes her mind. She defensively casts blistering invective. And of course she continues to inspire (+2).
