Cecilia certainly has no objections. Onward to the next room!

I hope we hear from Kra'el and Ingra soon. Wishing the two of you (and the cat) all the best ;)

I hope that you don't mind me moving Cecilia forwards a little bit. I'm not sure if the party wanted to wait for everyone to be ready, or whether we should just advance.
Aelion Kinandev |
Sorry, I'm sick. Please bot Aelion as necessary. Hopefully I'll be well enough to post again tomorrow, but I don't dare promise it.

Sorry to hear that Aelion. I hope you feel better soon.
I might be a bit slow to post myself over the coming weeks. My partner is really sick at the moment too and I've just sprained my hand in a motorbike accident, so I'm down to one-handed typing for a while.
I'll do my best to keep things moving, but apologies for any delays.
Jathal Mitheralia |
Sad to hear on both accounts, I hope things get better for you both.
Cecilia Hawthorne |
Hope you both feel better soon!
Aelion Kinandev |
Thanks everyone, I think the worst is over.
Also, ouch, DM Kaavek! I hope you both recover quickly!
Cecilia Hawthorne |
Glad to hear that you're on the mend Aelion :)
I originally had Cecilia using her whip to trip the undead goblin, but then I realised it would be a lot more effective for her to just use her rapier. I hope no one minds me changing my post just 10 minutes after I originally posted.
Jathal Mitheralia |
It's not just this game, every game I'm in seems to have this problem. One or two good rolls, followed by one of two days of bad rolls.
In one game I'm in there were five characters fighting one goblin, it took eight rounds for one of the party to land a blow! Even the Wizard throwing Acid splash at touch AC couldn't hit it. Naturally it didn't seem to suffer from the same problem.
We were joking about a One Goblin TPK for a while.
Jathal Mitheralia |
Looking at the characters we have left in the party. We have a Monk, Bard, Witch. Rogue and Slayer.
Much as I like Slayers there is nothing Jathal does that isn't covered by others. Would you like me to roll up a Cleric to take her place and balance the party a bit more?
Zalindra Freston |
I would also be happy to roll up something different.
If we rescue her grandfather, Zalindra could go back and take up where she left off, and I could be the Cleric, so as to not overlap with Jathal. Also, honestly, Zalindra is pretty angry with everyone from the way that things have played out, so it would be easier to push through that whole resolution if she leaves. Maybe this one could be an Aasimar so she can see in the dark. ;) (Or be something different if Jathal feels strongly about changing.)
Dayana Elerye |

And I thought the time my PCs had a derro tripped and surrounded but still couldn't kill it for over 4 rounds in my CotCT game was bad! RNG is a fickle mistress, she is...
Re: Clerics; Dayana can take on a healer/utility role, if neither of you actually want to reroll but we need the slot filled. Otherwise I'll stick to my debuffing/occasional episode of mild blasting/sometimes it's an undead at low levels and I have to go martial on it.
... as an aside, every witch I have ever had has gone up against undead before level 3.

Thanks, Cecilia. :)
I have no strong feelings about who could be a cleric/healer - as long as it isn't me! ;) Aelion isn't terribly competent at the moment, but I'd like to keep playing him, all the same.
I feel like all the RNGs I use - including as the DM in my play by email games - have a tendency to hate everybody in the party, but love monsters. Although, admittedly, once I ran a combat against goblins where no one could hit anything for about 10 rounds. That was... memorable, and inexplicable. Hail the AI overlords?
DM Kaavek |
Since Jathal brought it up, I was actually thinking of possibly contacting a few of the runner up submissions once you get back to Brindol to see if they would still be interested in joining in.
But if some of you would really like to reroll we could arrange a combination of both? What would you prefer?
My three runners up would be:
Morgrym Dolgringrun - Harakani - Dwarf - Cleric (Forgemaster)
Anghar Silverscale - HeftyUpTop - Dragonborn - Bloodrager
Rhona Copperhair - Critzible - Dwarf - Ranger (Trapper)
Zalindra Freston |
I really do want to reroll if it is okay, but it doesn't have to be immediately. I think inviting some of the runners up would be great.
Then I could maybe make a sorcerer, and bring her in after we find out what happened to Zalindra's grandfather. (And would it be okay if I made her an Aasimar? I just looked back at the recruitment post and noticed there that Tiefling is one of your approved races, but not Aasimar, so I don't want to assume.)

If Morgrym is available then he would be my pick.
I'm actually liking the disagreements over tactics and morals the party has, we were thrown together at random to start with. Different backgrounds and personalities were always going to start to show.
Jathal is from a military background, and even there was considered a bit too bloodthirsty. :)
Zalindra Freston |
Oh, I am enjoying the dynamics as a player, but I feel like Zalindra the character is backed into a corner, and can't really play on the fun backstory that I wrote for her. So, I'd rather start over. I think I can make a better character now that I have some experience with the game, DM, and fellow players.
Cecilia Hawthorne |
I'm pretty happy with how Cecilia is working at the moment, so I don't think I'll be changing characters any time soon. I think recruiting at least one new player is probably a good idea, provided that the others don't return.
Aelion Kinandev |
I agree with Cecilia.
Dayana Elerye |
I agree with Aelion agreeing with Cecilia. I do hope everything is alright with our MIA players though; I'm in a different game with Kra'el and he's vanished there too, so I think it's something IRL going on.
As for the listed runner-ups, they all look good to me.
DM Kaavek |
Good news! I've been speaking with Harakani and Critzible and it sounds like both of them are pretty keen to join in (and happy to start asap).
That will bring our little fellowship back up to nine members (including Kra'el and Ingra NPCs), and if neither of them is able to come back, we'll still have a healthy seven to continue on with.
No word from HeftyUpTop but I think taking on these two, for now, should be enough.
Jathal Mitheralia |
Welcome to the party.
Cecilia Hawthorne |
Glad to hear it Kaavek!
Hello Harakani and Critzible (or Morgrym and Rhona), great to have you onboard! :)
Aelion Kinandev |
Welcome!
Morgrym Dolgringrun |
Hey, just had a thought. A lot of games which have a lot of other languages spoken that I have been in use a stand in language. This means it is possible to at least get an idea of how long someone has been talking for without having to read spoilers.
Is there one of those for dwarven yet? If not, are we okay to have one? If not, I like Kazakh because to me it looks like runes, but I'm flexible.
Example
"бәрін гномоваға қарсы алып келіңіз" said Morgrym.
Jathal Mitheralia |
Quick Javos, flirt with Jathal, she needs the reassurance!
Cecilia Hawthorne |
If you don't mind me asking, could you describe exactly how the frost is covering the floor, Kaavek? Because Cecilia might not want to walk through it if there's a chance of it penetrating her clothes. ^_^
DM Kaavek |
The damp that covers most of the dungeon tiles in the catacombs has frozen here to produce a very thin layer of ice crystals, with some larger snow-like flakes which have fallen from the frost zombie.
Something like >this<.
It's purely fluff, no game mechanics, and I'm doubtful it would be enough to seep through Cecilia's boots.
Javos Kincade |
I was wondering why I wasn't seeing posts. Love you Paizo forums... Small glitch, apparently. The gameplay thread wouldn't update. Got it fixed.
Zalindra Freston |
My sincere apologies for leaving in the midst of battle, but I am in the middle of moving, and my posting is going to be spotty between now and the 15th. Packing up the truck tomorrow, and should be in Utah and able to post again consistently (hopefully) around then.
Please bot me as needed, and sorry again... might be able to post in the interim, but just not sure when, and can't guarantee it.
