Trevor the Yellow |
Hi DM, thanks for the selection (or should I thank the dice-bot?)!
Trevor has a few things that can move about, depending on the rest of the group, in particular the paladin class, which could easily be changed if needed.
His background in a nutshell: bored and poor noble turned mob enforcer. The Fall of Krakova brought a lot of shame and need for redemption on his head for having just stood by.
His Big Dream: Lead an army to free Krakova.
DM - Tareth |
Trevor: Welcome aboard! There is a strong 'Krakova' contingent so some definite opportunities there. As mentioned before, I'm fine with paladins. The class will work well from a general game standpoint since we're not looking at an evil campaign. How he fits with the rest of the party...well, we'll see. :)
Gameplay is open as well. I've added an 'introductory' post. As it infers, you've been on the road for a few days, so everyone does know each other. But please feel free to post back story or initial PC interactions as desired either via conversation, flashback, or however.
Actual play will pick up on the road right after the intro post.

Hmm I could still do with a bit of tuning.
I dotted and deleted in gameplay to get the game tracking in my campaign tab.
Brother Aterro |
Happy to be here folks and bring honor to MIGHTY THOR in some GLORIOUS COMBAT! =)
Finnigan Calhoun |
So for equipment the package deal wanted to give me a longbow and 2 swords but what I need is a crossbow and a rapier.
But if I roll gold I can't afford both. I guess I should start out swordless or did I miss something?
Sorry about my profile it keepes taking me to "you backtracked too far" screen today.
Sheet is here for now.
DM - Tareth |
All, once we've got all the PC's finalized and are fully underway, I will remove all of the background info on the races from the campaign tab page in order to free up space for more relevant info. Will leave the regional info so it can be referenced during play if needed.
Thanks to Grimmy for finding an option reference source, a Midgard Wiki that has all of the open license info already available.
Finnigan Calhoun |
Sorry about the unsightly broken spoiler tag in my ministat line. This freaking paizo site won't let me edit my portfolio from mobile to fix it.
DM will it be a big inconvenience for you if I have to track my hp's and so forth on an offsite sheet? It will only be a click away for you, link in my profile.
Vrindel |
I'll clean up the formatting later. Something is funky on the site right now, but all the info should be there.
Finnigan Calhoun |
I can't really blame the site as much as myself for trying to get away with playing these games from mobile. But I seem to be mostly getting away with it. I just can't fix the tags for those unspoiled skills displayed below my name. Or edit my hp total in that field.

Dear Dreaming Warforged:
I am absolutely in favor of a friendly rivalry.
Mind you, sometimes, just sometimes, people say that I take it too far. I don't know what they're talking about, and I get the impression that you're a big girl that knows what she's doing, so I think it'll go well. But I just wanted to say that if I am crossing some boundary, you must absolutely let me know so that I can stop it.
(Besides, I think I've grown. I was gonna put in a post calling Finnigan a "Coward!" but then I didn't. See how much progress I've made? =)
Trevor the Yellow |
Well, he is a coward... ;)
Brother Aterro |
Hey Trevor, can I ask a quick question?
There are still many things I don't understand about 5E, so I'm sure this is just something simple that I'm overlooking.
How do you get a 16 AC with Leather armor and a 12 Dex?
Thanks. =)
Trevor the Yellow |
A feeling of dread overcomes DW, until he realizes he failed to update his sheet correctly when copying it from another character, leaving the reference to a leather armor, though paladins get a chain mail.
He sighs in relief...
So AC is still 16, so it's not as bad as I first thought reading your question. Sorry about that.
Finnigan Calhoun |
Hope I did the action economy right. Finnigan gets a bonus action ranged attack from crossbow expert feat. I'm fighting with a dagger until I can find/afford a rapier.
DM - Tareth |
FYI, I tend to make criticals and fumbles a bit more than just extra damage or auto miss. i.e. Crits can cause powerful or explosive strikes maybe a bonus action, or additional bleed damage, etc, in certain circumstances. Fumbles definitely cause something to go wrong with the possibility to do real harm to self or friends. I've always found it to be much more entertaining but if people don't want to have these little extras that's fine just let me know.
Finnigan: On the actions, I think you got it right as long as the crossbow is loaded.
Brother Aterro |
I like it. A little extra shouldn't hurt.
BAlls, I've even been known to prefer the MERP tables, but that's just me. =)

I echo Finnigan. I especially liked the way the encounter built up.

Cool! I was hoping for a little bit more up close action/threat/surprise out of the bugs but Vrindel's well timed AoE spell and lots of 2's on the saving throws busted up that plan. Not to mention Ibrox's well timed critical. Ah well, there will be more opportunities. ;)

Aterro: Loki is very much part of the Northern pantheon and Midgard. I simply missed him when putting up the info in the campaign tab, so my bad.
Here's a brief description from the world book:
Many liken Loki to a fire—useful, bright, and alluring but also unpredictable, uncontrollable, and potentially deadly. Like a flame he can suddenly shift from small and harmless to large and dangerous. He’s a renowned shapeshifter even among the gods and has sired numerous monsters, including the wolf Fenris, his half-dead daughter Hel, and (allegedly) the World Serpent.
Loki’s fate is a dark one. Driven by jealousy, he will kill Baldur and his monstrous children will bring about the twilight of the gods. These deeds might be in the future, but they cannot be forgiven or forgotten, even before they have come to pass. Some say the suspicion of the gods and the scorn of mortals will drive him from mischief to evil, whereas others claim that Loki was wickedness incarnate from the start. The truth—like so much more about him—will probably never be known.

"Its tragic the letter never reached its intended destination. These northerners, beyond Vanderstahl is it..? Are they your allies? What threat is a 'reaver ship'?" wringing out her smoky blue hair like an old rag.
I don't quite get what Zove is reacting to here.
I did read the spoiler about the message although I thought Ibrox handed it to the kobold so far.
But even OOC I'm not getting the reference to 'reaver ship'.
DM - Tareth |
Finnigan: I believe she was referencing the second paragraph of the note "For the last two days, fishermen have spotted a reaver ship moving along the coast. I fear they are surveying the area for a possible raid. On top of that we've had no word from Vandersthal, the village south of us. Usually we have visitors during the Lantern festival, or to do a little early trade after, but this year, nothing." (Emphasis added by me.)
DM - Tareth |
This might be a good time to bring up the Midgard Status stat which is basically 4 plus your CHA modifier plus a racial modifier. Based on what I can see, Trevor and Zove actually have the highest status at 7, Finnigan at 6, Ibrox and Vrindel at 4, and Aterro at 3. (See the Campaign Info Tab for the racial adjustments)
This means most NPC's will default to either Trevor or Zove as 'leaders' of the group unless RP dictates otherwise. Since Trevor was up front with Rook, is an elfmarked knight (although rather young), and the kobold would be a bit intimidated or wary of the shadow fey, he tends to think of the youthful knight as the group's lead unless someone else steps into the role.
So yes...the cowardly teen paladin is "party lead" at this point. :)
Trevor the Yellow |
Someone please step in! ;)
Finnigan Calhoun |
I've got a long train trip on the 19th and uncertain connectivity upon arrival so it's possible I may go dark for a day or two while I sort that out.
Finnigan Calhoun |
Ok there is wifi here at my new guesthouse.
I lost my us power adaptor though so it might be tomorow before I get a post in.
I picked up some virus on the train journey as well, feeling nasty.
Wifi is good tho. I'll get caught up.
Finnigan Calhoun |
Similar here, I'm in a homeshare in a new state and haven't settled into a routine yet. The wifi comes and goes. Best I can muster is to read the posts and toss an appropriate dice roll :)
Very much enjoying everyone's writing and characterization though (is that a word?).
Finnigan Calhoun |
Ok I forgot this is not a normal thing outside India...
So, picture an air bnb... only the family doesn't leave, theyr'e still there too... and if, say, two to six different parties all answer the add, it's ok you take them all.
Homeshare! It's in the name. Stay as long as you like.
