It does say for the purpose of feats it's considered negative energy but wanted to make sure how you would rule it. Ill find a different domain if it won't heal me.
Edit: Actually now that I think about it, it doesn't matter. Chanelling evil will heal me. I guess I spent too much time switching between pages and confused myself. Thanks for the quick response. I hope i can finish in time, I'm interested to see how this concept will work.
Lol I was thinking the same about casters. Not sure I'll be able to finish in time but I'm working on a demon-spawn tiefling fiendish vessel cleric / summoner. Trying to decide what domains to use and I have a question. Would the "Death's Embrace" ability of the Death domain heal me when I "Channel Evil"?
4d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 4) + 2 = 12
Alrighty then, standard array it it. That was, ah, disappointing.
Since goliath is available I'm thinking going with a barb or fighter. I could use my Fezzik alias :)
I decided to keep things simple. I still need finish up equipment. I've seen a few people roll for gold. If we don't, are we taking average for class?
Here is Zynazyr
Background and reason for adventuring is in the "Other Notes" section near the bottom.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Stat1: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 4) = 10 lol
Stat2: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 1) = 17
Stat3: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 2) = 11
Stat4: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 2) = 16
Stat5: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 3) = 14
Stat6: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 5) = 20
Stat1 reroll: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9
Stat2 reroll: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Final: 13,17,15,17,11,15 interesting - all odd. I'll have to make a strange character lol
Therbin is your typical dwarf fighter. He will continue with the Cleave line of feats and eventually be able to cleave against large creatures. He will typically move into melee and try to hit as many creatures for as much damage as he can. I will continue to improve his AC and DR, possibly getting adamantine armor at some point if I can afford it. An old-school dwarf fighter for some old-school modules.
As his charisma indicates, he is grumpy and gruff. He will tell you like it is and isn't going to sugarcoat anything. If you ask for his opinion on something, he will give it to you unfiltered. It is also quite likely that he hasn't bathed in some time but seems unconcerned about his odor. It's your problem if it bothers you, not his. ;) That said, he will do anything in his power to make sure that if we go into battle, that we come out of it victorious.
Good luck everyone.
Is there a restriction on how much we can spend on one item? I've been trying to figure out a way to get adamantine plate but it's so expensive. I considered going warpriest and making it myself but since there won't be much time for crafting, that would mainly help prior to the adventure. Besides, it looks like you have enough divine characters already.
@chillblame - would the following be allowed?
Trait giving a bonus for using Dwarven weapons - Tar Taargadth Trained. Maybe reflavored as Crystalmist Mountain Trained.
Dwarf weapon - Giant-sticker, Dwarven
Both seem thematically appropriate, but I wanted to check since neither would be considered "core".
Keep in mind that a con started mid-January on Discord and the next Outpost con will start in March around the time the Discord con ends. Those take up a lot of bandwidth. Looks like there are over 50 games being played on Discord for the con there.
Also recruiting for PFS usually happens in the Flaxseed Lodge thread while SFS happens in the Flaxeed Station thread. You can also find links and announcements for cons on those threads. The general recruiting thread typically has AP's or non-society games.
Assuming that Therenger is going with a Treasure Hunter with his hobbit, I was thinking about a more combat oriented character. Based on the starting location, it seems Woodmen or Beornings would be appropriate as DM_DM stated. I was leaning towards a Warrior, but from what I've read so far, I'm not sure if that would be common in those cultures versus a slayer. Can anyone give me some insight on that?
Thanks Helaman. I did mean to ask you about your combat rules. Under the section on non-lethal damage, you mention using a sap but I can't find info on that weapon anywhere. Given my character's background, it is something he probably would carry. Am I missing it somewhere in one of the books or are you adding it to 5e?
Here's my rogue so far. I'm thinking of just reusing an alias and need to write up a backstory still. Also look to see if I need any other gear.
Male Human Rogue 3
Feats: Magic Initiate (wizard)
Wizard Spells Known/Prepared:
Roguish Archetype: Inquisitive:
Ear for Deceit: You develop a talent for picking out lies. Whenever you make a Wisdom (Insight) check to determine whether a creature is lying, treat a roll of 7 or lower on the d20 as an 8.
Eye for Detail: You can use a bonus action to make a Wisdom (Perception) check to spot a hidden creature or object or to make an Intelligence (Investigation) check to uncover or decipher clues.
Insightful Fighting: You gain the ability to decipher an opponent's tactics and develop a counter to them. As a bonus action, you can make a Wisdom (Insight) check against a creature you can see that isn't incapacitated, contested by the target's Charisma (Deception) check. If you succeed, you can use your Sneak Attack against that target even if you don't have advantage on the attack roll, but not if you have disadvantage on it.
This benefit lasts for 1 minute or until you successfully use this feature against a different target.
Expertise: Double proficiency bonus – Perception, Investigation
Sneak Attack: 1d6 if attack with advantage. You don't need advantage on the attack roll if another enemy of the target is within 5 feet of it, that enemy isn't incapacitated, and you don't have disadvantage on the attack roll.
Cunning Action: Your quick thinking and agility allow you to move and act quickly. You can take a bonus action on each of your turns in combat. This action can be used only to take the Dash, Disengage, or Hide action.

I'm lurking. I played in a B/X Homebrew for 3 years here on the boards exploring the Lost City. (Wow, I didn't realize it was that long until I checked the thread.) Unfortunately, the GM vanished about a year ago. We made it to the 4th tier. Part of me wants to finish the module, part of me wants to start something new. I don't recall ever playing Castle Amber or Curse of Xanathar, but I recognize the covers looking at them online. I think it will depend on what you run and how many you have interested.
As I stated earlier, it looked like Lady Barad completed 2 domain turns. I'm assuming it was turn 1 & 2. I'm not sure how to handle income for turns 3 & 4 other than assuming no changes.
Going to need some input on this. It seems trying to pickup a previously played realm is problematic.
How about scribe scroll? I think it would be useful to have access to some spells as needed. Although, with those hp rolls, I might just take Toughness.
How do you change the population of a province?
From the wiki, Abbatour has a population of 3. My law holding is 1. I'm assuming that Lord-Captain Tael Brosuine, the ruler of the province, holds the other 2. If Lady Barad used 2 actions to increase Law, doesn't that switch the control of Law from him to her?
I don't have Player's Secrets of Roesone. Is that available from the wiki?
How are we handling hp? Roll or half?
Also, the wiki mentions that magic items are rare and usually not created. Should we skip item creation feats then? I vaguely remember a post about buying magic items but I couldn't find it easily.
It looks like Lady Barad increased her Law holding in Abbatuor 2 times which would give her 3 of 3. What does that mean exactly?
I hope it's ok for me to move over to the discussion thread instead of mucking up the recruitment thread more. I've been going through the gameplay thread to see what Lady Barad had been up to. I have a few questions:
1. Since she married Daenal and both he and Marlae died, there doesn't seem to be a natural link back to a Roesone. Do we pretend there was another heir or should I come from another family? Maybe I am part of the IHH and am trying to strengthen our power in Roesone by marrying Lady Barad?
2. What turn are we on?
2a. I tried to follow her actions to determine what I needed to adjust from what is in the wiki. It looks like initially she was doing Rule Holding actions on the Guilds but later realized that they should have been on Law. It looks like maybe 2 domain turns were completed.
2b. I don't see anywhere that taxes were collected or expenses paid so I'm having difficulty determining my starting point in regards to my treasury. Should I start with 15 GB from the wiki, assume 2 turns, and the adjustments made during the rounds?
Male Human Cleric of Haelyn 2
Init +2; Senses Normal vision; Perception +5
XX GP, XX SP, XX CP
Treasury : 15 GB
Court level 3
Temple Holdings: (IHH = Impergnable Heart of Haelyn / RSC = Ruornil’s Celestial Spell)
Guild Holdings: (OT = Orthien Tane / EH = el-Hadid / SG = Siele Ghoried)
Force Basic Disposition:
Updated with info on my domain. I used Niall's alias as a template and took the info from the wiki. Please check I did this correctly. The expenses for the individual military units don't match up to what is listed on the page for Roesone. It also doesn't list any Lieutenants.
I also don't know how much a gold bar is worth for me to finish my personal equipment.
Looking back in the thread, it looks like I'm supposed to roll for Realm spells
Ok, here's what I have so far. I decided to stay with Brenna since it fits with the current ruler. I wasn't sure what you were doing with hp so just did max for 1st and half+1 for second. While you let me pick the bloodline derivation, I think I still need to determine my strength. I was getting that mixed up with bloodline score.
Bloodline strength: 1d100 ⇒ 80 = Major
It says something about affecting my hitpoints, but I'm not sure how.
I also added background skills as I see Niall has them. I included some of the ones from the wiki so let me know if you are using all of them or only some of them.
I included basic weapons and armor but still need to finish equipment. I'm not entirely clear on how much I have to spend. Obviously, I wouldn't be cleaning out the treasury to buy things for me.
I also need to get an alias and include the info for Roesone like Niall did for Aerenwe.
Sorry this took so long. I imagine I will continue to move slowly as I learn the system. FYI - I have 2 birthday parties to run for my kids this weekend so will be limited in what I can do here. Let me know if I need to change anything.
Male Human Cleric of Haelyn 2

I thought I was about done with my character and then I noticed the wiki said that a Paladin of Haelyn can only multiclass with Fighter or Noble. On top of that, for some reason I was thinking I didn't need to worry about alignment but the same page corrected me on that too. I don't think a LG leader would work very well in Roesone as it is a N domain and I think would rebel against a leader that implemented too many laws.
I liked the idea of being able to Detect Evil at will, which combined with making Warcraft a class skill and being able to use heavy armor, lead me to Paladin to begin with. I don't think I want to dip 2 levels in Inquisitor to detect alignment plus I don't think an Inquisitor would fit well in Roesone either. I'll probably just look at creating an item at some point to handle detect evil.
What are your thoughts of the Scion or Noble classes on the wiki?
Are we supposed to roll for our bloodline derivation and strength or pick the derivation we want or use the one that the current leader of the domain we will be using has assuming we are a relative?
My current character seems to be more oriented towards Anduiras while the current family line in Roesone is Brenna.
