Finally back from our whirlwind two-week holiday tour of seven states. Hope everyone had a great holiday season. Happy New Year!

I'm sorry everyone. We had a death in my wife's family early last week, and I've been out of town and away from the computer for the past week. I'm working to catch up now, but it may be another day or two before I'm fully back in the game.

Did we find the locks that fit the keys that we took from ghoul-Aldern?

"I hardly think the Cardinal is an appropriate - what the hell is that!" Foxglove breaks off as what appears to be an undead horror comes rushing down the steps, brushing past the others.

"I am the vessel of Iesha Foxglove's vengeance! I am your death!" Aylmora exclaims as she takes a step back and unleashes a blast of fiery energy at the man she believes to be an impersonator of Aldern Foxglove.

I take it from the map that Aylmora can't see what's going on, but can hear what's being said.

Aylmora's blood begins to boil upon hearing Aldern Foxglove's voice. The young woman touches the scarf wrapped around her waist - Iesha's scarf - and remembers the revenant's single-minded drive to track down and destroy the man who murdered her - the real Aldern Foxglove. "This man must be an imposter! Let me at him!" she growls to her companions as her features writhe and morph into a replica of the revenant Iesha.

Manifesting Minor Metamorphosis to imitate the horrifying appearance of revenant Iesha (+2 circumstance bonus to Intimidate checks). Manifesting power (3 pp) augmented by Wild Surge (+2 pp), counting as the equivalent of 5 pp expended; 15% chance Psychic Enervation (1-15): 1d100 ⇒ 43.

Aylmora gains the following buffs for a duration of 8 minutes:
Increase base land speed by 10 feet;
+2 enhancement bonus to Dexterity;

Aylmora searches carefully through the room.

Aylmora follows her companions, crossbow loaded and ready to fire at the first sign of trouble.

"We found Iesha in Aldern's attic at the manor." Aylmora muses softly, touching the beautiful scarf wrapped around her waist. "Maybe we should see if he's got any similar secrets hidden in his attic here," she suggests, pointing toward the stairs leading up.

Aylmora follows her companions into the townhouse, loaded crossbow in-hand as she listens carefully and warily glances about for any signs of an ambush.

My apologies, everyone. For the past week I've been battling what's turned out to be a case of pneumonia, and this is the first that I've felt well enough to even sit upright and turn on the computer. Can't guarantee much posting in the next several days - very low energy and meds that may start making me feel even worse in different ways (yuck!). I'll try to keep up, but right now I'm going to lay back down. Feel free to 'bot Aylmora if need be. Thanks!

Aylmora describes the scenes depicted in the windows of Foxglove Manor as best she can, trusting her companions to add any details she may leave out.

"And he stunk to high heaven," Aylmora adds, grimacing and pinching her nose for added effect.

"You said that the victims' spirits said they were 'set upon by several assassins and that they looked upon their own faces'?" Aylmora asks the acolyte.

"Aldern had that strange mask that he used to make himself look like Vaclav when we battled him," Aylmora reminds her companions. "Sounds like these assassins may be using the same type of thing - maybe they're who Aldern got his mask from."

Good luck with the move! I know it can be stressful.

Aylmora is pleased to find a shirt crafted from fine links of mithril chain for sale at the Bazaar of Sails. As she shops, she listens carefully for information regarding strange murders in the City of Monuments.

"Sounds good, Vaclav. You check in with the temple while we secure rooms at the Dowager Duchess, then let's meet up for lunch and some shopping and information gathering. I'll even treat for lunch!" Aylmora suggests.

Aylmora wants to purchase a mithril chain shirt.

"So that's what that was?" Aylmora asks her companions, the barest hint of alarm in her tone.

"My name is Aylmora Mvashti. From Sandpoint. My companions are Gornak, Thanadros, and Brother Vaclav Rennet of Erastil," Aylmora indicates each of her companions as she introduces them. "We were attacked last night by some creature that breathes fire like a dragon, screams like a banshee, and produces an unnatural fog. It killed three of our horses. Does that fit the description of the Sandpoint Devil?"

Aylmora rushes back to the ruined campsite around the same time as Gornak.

"Don't feel bad, Gornak. You weren't the only one terrified out of their mind by that horrible scream. What was that thing?" Aylmora asks Vaclav and Thanadros.

No ranks in Knowledge (local), so couldn't attempt the check.

And I was going to make it "just a noise on the road" but everyone has armed themselves so actively it seems a shame to waste it...

Can we revisit this option? Maybe it's all a dream?

Since Aylmora was panicked for 3 rounds, just let me know when she regains her composure (and how far she has to travel to make it back).

"Horses sound good to me."

"I think it's impressive, Gornak," Aylmora praises her friend. "I've picked up a new ability, too. I can 'feel' my surroundings out to a range of twenty yards or so without sight... for a limited amount of time, of course."

It will take 2 days to make a +1 weapon, so it depends on how big a hurry we're in.

If we don't have time then don't worry about it. I can wait until we have more downtime.

Aylmora will pay 100 gp out of her share to buy Iesha's bladed scarf.

Can I pay Gornak 1,000 gp to have him place a +1 enhancement on my masterwork light crossbow?

Once back in Sandpoint, Aylmora will check in with Aunt Niska and tell the elderly woman about all that happened at Foxglove manor. Then she'll go to the Rusty Dragon to check in with Ameiko and Bethana. After that, she go visit Ven Vinder to let him know that we dealt with Katrine's killer.

We should keep the keys and the painting - at least until we find the townhouse in Magnimar.

Aylmora would like to keep Iesha's bladed scarf - I'll purchase it out of my loot share.

I'm also going to toss a few of Aylmora's minor magic items into the group pot to sell:
- Wand of Shocking Grasp, 28 charges
- Scroll of Burning Hands
- Scroll of Sleep

If we've got time and money I wouldn't mind getting my masterwork crossbow enhanced.

Or maybe he just hasn't had time to write the awesome scene where flames consume the house and beams are revealed as black silhouettes against the bright flames until they fold violently inward and a geyser of sparks shoots skyward.

That's exactly the scene I want to see!

BTW, Aylmora is all leveled-up. Guess we just need to sell loot and make any purchases we want?

The letter found with the drawings in Aldern's cavern said that he had a townhouse in Magnimar, and the portrait of Iesha showed a specific building in Magnimar through the window, so it is likely that the portrait was painted in the townhouse. Therefore, it is possible that the two keys found on Aldern are for his townhouse in Magnimar.

I'm in favor of seeing if Father Zantus would want to purchase/destroy the mask.

Aylmora contents herself with watching the fungus burn as her friends examine the various items discovered.

"Sounds like we need to take a trip to Magnimar," she comments, overhearing their discussion regarding the letter.

"I agree, Brother Vaclav. Let me give Gozreh some help," Aylmora snarls just before unleashing a blast of fiery energy at the humanoid outline in the black fungus.

Aylmora levitates downward and makes her way to the crumpled form of Iesha. The young woman removes her cloak and gently places it over the dead woman's remains, offering a silent prayer to Desna to guide the avenged woman's spirit to its proper resting place in the afterlife. "We should return her remains to Sandpoint and see that she receives a proper funeral at the cathedral," she says sadly.

"Is everyone okay? Sorry I wasn't of more help, but it looks like Aylmora could've handled the whole gang of ghouls by herself!"

Thanadros nods. "I never knew you had such power, Aylmora." he says, impressed.

"I... I guess I didn't either..." Aylmora begins hesitantly, unsettled by the volatile display of her own power. Her expression hardens as she looks toward the smoldering remains of Aldern Foxglove, and her voice becomes firmer as she continues, "But I wasn't about to let that madman hurt any of you. He had to pay for what he did to Iesha and Katrine and all the others."

Once it finishes smoldering, Thanadros starts to loot Alderns body. "We should look to the room in back where he came out of. Then we should leave this wretched place."

"I agree," Aylmora concurs with Thanadros. "I say we burn this whole place to the ground."

Should I assume that the duration of Aylmora's Minor Metamorphosis has ended now?

Also, Aylmora takes a moment to regain her psionic focus.

Aldern for his part steps nimbly to one side as Aylmora's blast sears the rock at his feet.

"Temper temper!" he chides. "How will you feel when I peel your friends and saw off their skins? I think I'll do Brother Vaclav the Inept first!"
The skin of the mask warps and shifts to present a likeness of Vaclav, and skipping nimbly along the rim of the drop apparently without a care he slashes at the cleric with his war-razor:

"NO!" Aylmora cries, seeing her friend wounded by the ghoulish madman. Eyes blazing with unrestrained fury, the young woman unleashes another blast of devastating fiery energy at the undead nobleman.
