could someone explain the special signups and why they have titles like soldier and champion beside them?
Normal/Hard mode, basically.
Soldier is supposed to be a little more difficult than a standard scenario.
Champion is hard mode. At some points, the difference is very noticeable.

This particular PFS1 special has two levels of difficulty. They were officially described as:
Soldier - slightly harder than normal
Champion - hard mode
Each table has to be only one level of difficulty as the signups reflect this. If starting in Soldier mode then the table must continue in Soldier mode. Champion tables who are finding the difficulty too challenging may change to Soldier mode at any time but once they do so must continue in Soldier mode without the option to change back.
There are other differences as well. I may suggest we provide a write up so players are prepared.

Siege of Gallowspire also has you bring along 3 of your other characters of 5th level or higher as Aid Characters.
The Aid Characters can die. The lower level they are, the more likely they are to die.
The abilities of the Aid Characters don’t matter, just the character level. They are used in a very abstract way to help with the mission.
Using a Pregen as an Aid Character is allowed, but they have very little chance of success.

Do these characters follow the 'one scenario at a time rule'? In other words, can those three characters be played in another PFS game while the Gallowspire is active?
Do the alternate characters receive a chronicle sheet?
BretI |
The Aid Characters do not receive a chronicle sheet. Instead, you copy the one you get with your main character and use it as a boon on the Aid character.
I have been recommending people treat the Aid Characters as locked out. As a GM, I also refused an Aid Character as that character was going through Eyes of the Ten. There are special rules for that set of scenarios.

As there is a higher than normal risk of death for each of your characters during this Special I would consider them locked out of other games for the time frame of the Special.
Even with the potential of death it is a very fun scenario! I highly recommend it and bringing aid characters,

As I understand it, Core and Standard are separate campaigns. They should never be mixed.
Given that, I would say that the Aid characters must be of the same campaign type — which would make it really tough in Core to have 3 Aid Characters.

I was thinking of signing up for Siege of Gallowspire with my lvl 6 character but I have no idea what RPGG is, I've only ever played here on Paizo can someone explain what it is please?
It’s RPG Geek...don’t know if you’ve ever heard of Boardgamegeek but it’s the RPG version of that site. I got my intro to play-by-post there. Here’s the link to their Pathfinder Society Guild there:

So...I am not finding the PLAYER signups for Siege of Gallowspire. That's kind of an obstacle.
On the spreadsheet, it’s the tab labeled ‘PF1 Special Signups’. Are you not seeing that tab? Should be between the ‘Player Signups’ tab and the ‘SFS Special Signups’ tab...
I'm Hiding In Your Closet |
I do see that...but despite the clear label at the top, there's nowhere for players to sign up.
EDIT: *sigh* Thank you, TOZ.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to check in. I just finished a 10 year play by post campaign and am starting my first Pathfinder Society character for another, much shorter game. I wanted to drop by and see what options we available for play by post or email games and get any advice you might have.
We did just start another 10 year campaign as well, but it is nice to have other characters and games for variety.

Welcome!
Many GMs may hold off starting new games right now as we have a convention beginning at the end of the month. Check out our event thread for more details.Player signups can be found here.
You are clearly familiar with Play-by-Post. Do you have any specific questions about Society play?
Bosk DeOx |
I don't have any specific questions at this time. Today I am starting my first society character. She is a life oracle that I am playing as an elderly woman just starting her career. Starting out her ability to heal is impressive an she should become monster when it comes to supporting others.
My 10 year character was a combat focused cleric and my new one is a druid designed for combat. For this game I figured I would try something different. It is nice to know I can come here to find other games when this one ends.

Attention Outpost III Players.
We’ve had signups open for a week now and while a lot of tables have enough players to fire, we still have many openings including a number of tables that really need more players.
As such, starting now, we are raising the signup cap to 5 tables per player. You may also sign up for both the Pathfinder and Starfinder specials (these special count against your max table limit).
As always, sign up for more games only if you know you can handle posting regularly to all of them. This goes doubly for the specials. Please only sign up for both if you can be certain to post every day to both.
As a reminder for newer players, a character can only be played in one game at a time and you may only have a single character at a given table.
Thanks and happy gaming,
Mike Hallet

Some also go longer. I played a 12-week scenario, and one I'm currently in is 8 with at least 2 to go and honestly probably 3-5 weeks to go.
My shortest has been 3 weeks, and it would have been 2 but some players thought it was too fast already.
6-8 weeks is a good range to set your expectations. As a GM, I aim for 6 but I warn players if it's less than 8 weeks to a milestone (e.g. 8 weeks before Thanksgiving I warn it may run over Thanksgiving, 8 weeks before Outpost I warned we may not finish before Outpost.
It's fine to ask what the expected pacing is during recruitment. The 2-week campaign had a GM that aggressively botted. The 12-week campaign went over two major US holidays so posting ground to a halt for several days each.

Hello everyone!
We are a long-term CORE party making our way through PFS Season 5. We are looking for a replacement core campaign character to join our group on our adventures. The group is fun and role-play oriented.
Most of the group is fourth level with 10xp.
We have been trading off the GM duties but there is no requirement that the person coming in GM if they don’t want to. What do we want? Someone who roleplays and has good chemistry with our team. We’ll also need someone who will fulfill group needs with a cast that rotates a bit as different people step up to GM.
Currently, our members are:
Damiar Apastron -- Mischievous Elven Bard Archer, twin to Iovo
Iovo Apastron -- Mischievous Elven Rogue / Wizard, twin to Damiar
Phinellippa Diotrice -- Inquisitive Gnome Wizard Illusionist with her familiar, The Amazing CoCo
Kleines Johann -- Strong and Stalwart Human Paladin of Irori
Rees Kovu -- Somewhat Paranoid Elven Ranger
Garif Stonetoe -- Well grounded Dwarven Druid with his black panther, Nico
If you think you have a character who's a good fit, post to our Recruitment Thread and tell us about yourself! We won’t necessarily be taking the first person to post, as there are a lot of factors we want to balance here.
Thanks for considering us!

I've been bringing a group through the module Gallows of Madness. We've just completed the 2nd chapter and will be commencing the 3rd and final chapter, The Festering Blot, soon. Along the way, we've lost a player and I am wondering if anyone is interested to come in.
The party currently consists of a cleric, swashbuckler, fighter, wizard, and alchemist. They are all at level 3, but I can take a character from level 1-3. Each chapter is replayable for level 1 characters.
Please take a look at some of the expectations for my games. As I can only post once a day (which is also my request for the players), the game can move somewhat slowly. Please take note if you want to sign up. If you're still interested, please PM me directly, with a link to your character profile page. (Please don't post into the Discussion or Gameplay threads.)

Odd Question: Is there any reason I should feel nervous about coming here, like to expect encounters with humorless types who'd codemn me just for being the wacky scofflaw this avatar makes it obvious I am?
I'd have a lot more fun on these boards if I didn't somehow feel I always had to watch out for some sort of secret police.
