I may be possessed by a daemon, but that just makes me stronger! Looking for an adventure. I'm a tough frontliner and will protect my party.

Here be Pip.

A mid-level character originally created to enter midway through an AP, but I like her, so if anyone needs a lvl 11/ mythic 4 character, I'll join.

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

I would like to get into one or two PbP games. I have some prior experience with PbP, specifically with PFS (it's been a few years), though I'm open to any kind of Pathfinder game. Let me know what kind of game you're playing and what kind of characters you're looking for and I'll work one up.

Lots of experience with PbP, lots with Pathfinder, none with Starfinder. Would v. much like to join a Starfinder game that is just getting started.

An arcane caster (Arcanist or Wizard, or something like that) Kitsune looking for a home. I've always wanted to try Rise of the Runelords, but I never caught an open call for it before it filled. That said, I am willing to play other adventures.

Sab's backstory was written assuming Carrion Crown, the most recent game she was a part of. Should be fairly easy to do a re-write for most games.

Ahoy-hoy! Would this be the place to find a 2e playtest group, or am I in the wrong spot?

There is thread here that is dedicated to the PFS version of the Playtest. You might have some luck finding a game that is recruiting there.

Grand Lodge

Half-elven scout (ranger) looking to adventure!

Mechanics are mostly set (and posted in profile) but backstory details still in progress. Willing to play most APs, except Shattered Star and Skull's and Shackles as I am currently playing in them outside of PBP.

The main concept for the character is a dedicated scout. Tends to travel significantly ahead of the group, even while engaged in a dungeon crawl. Looking to use stealth to full extent, but only while scouting. Once things go down he will work with the group as part of the team 100%.

Envoy's Alliance

Looking for a Return of the Runelords campaign.

I'm looking for any ap with an above average focus on player agency and narrative. A shadowy figure standing up in the corner shouldn't be automatically assumed to be a bad guy to kill before it does anything else, not even if we rolled initiative already (which really should be done at the end of the previous encounter anyway).

Gyn is a ysoki operative with the explorer specialization looking to join a group playing Against the Aeon Throne! His profile says he has the wild warden theme, but I've seen the colonist theme from AtAT1 and I'll probably swap out for that.

Is nobody running a Return of the Runelords campaign? Normally the Recruitment area would be swarming with threads by now. I'm keenly interested in playing.

So am I. I have a concept for the Accidental Clone trait for a guy who now is not a guy anymore, which could be quite funny if there is any hefty roleplay.

As most of us DMs have just received Chapter 1 and the Players Guide within the last week, please give us a chance to read it first. (chuckle!).

Also, the whole "Sihedron Heroes" bit (ie. characters that played in Rise of the Runelords or Shattered Star) is not detailed till Chapter 2, so some of us are waiting for that book to come out also.

I think it was in Chapter 1, or maybe in one of the threads, but I read that this AP is somewhat dungeon heavy. In Chapter 1 there is a lot of investigation, and role playing, especially at the beginning.

Note: As for me, I just finished a campaign that ran for 5 years, 7 months and am taking a break from running my third one till Chapter 2 or maybe Chapter 3 comes out.

Dark Archive

I'm looking for a low-level AP for Leyten. He's a kineticist who's run afoul of bad people. Thanks!

Dungeon heavy doesn't matter.

You could say there is "light roleplay" which is basically "playing the rules," treating this like a boardgame, in which players think about actions and choices primarily (maybe not exclusively) according to system mechanics and then simply dressing up their choices with characterization.

Metaphorically, playing chess with custom painted pieces. Chess is still what is played, the paint is just something cool layered on top that isn't really allowed to impact things much.

For example, playing a tiefling and having that be ignored. I've played many tieflings. Still waiting to feel like I'm playing a tiefling cause gms are mostly ignoring it.

Another example was me having the task of aquiring a certain document and destroying it. I came up with a plan and even did the prep work for it, but when I tried to enact my plan, I got ignored "because the book doesn't say how to handle that."

Another example is having a dark shape stand up and the response of players be to attack and kill it before it even acts, because they as players expect a combat encounter because of metagame reasons. They ignore what their characters would see and know. The characters don't know that initiative was rolled. The characters don't know that this a game and not a living breathing world.

Opposing this style of play is deep or hefty roleplay, where the mechanics are just guidelines imperfectly attempting to mimic the narrative world, for which the narrative world milieu is the metric for choosing action.

For example, there is no mechanic in the rules for flipping a table over to get cover. There doesn't need to be for deep roleplay, cause it makes sense in the narrative world milieu that a character can do so.

Thus, when deep roleplaying, the narrative world milieu has a larger impact on the course of events than the system mechanics do.

Another example, player plays a tiefling. Uneducated goblins think the character is an actual demon, yell about it, scream about, and act accordingly, whether it be aggressive, "kill the demon! focus on the demon!" or it be submissive "We'll do whatever you want oh great demon lord!"

In deep roleplay, narrative and world milieu is the primary consideration above and beyond mere mechanics.

Want to try out a race/class/build? Go light roleplay.

Want to try out a characterization, relationship, or a gender swapped character? Go for deep roleplay.

What he said ^^^^.

As others have said, I would be very interested in Return of the Runelords and/or Against the Aeon Throne.

Acquisitives

Greetings. I have heard rumor of the Azlanti Star Empire being in the middle of a heist of sorts on a distant star system. Impex would be very grateful for the opportunity to investigate these rumors personally.

Seeking for an opportunity to play Against the Aeon Throne!

@ Interesting Character

WoW….I agree with virtually everything you said. On the flip side, I have run a number of games were that kind of detail had been implemented, which had a negative response to the unanticipated addition to the mechanic. It seems to me that the majority of players today prefer an out of the can, play it as written play style, vs. the older genre role play, where the GM implements on the fly with commonsense narratives and results.

In one of the games that I ran, I had a couple players begin an encounter that resulted in a fight that took place in an alchemist shop, which resided on a side street in the main city. After the fight had concluded, the players where ready to move on to the next aspect of the scenario. Before moving things along, I asked the players what they intended to do with all the dead bodies they had just created. For some reason, that question brought about a large question mark. One of the players even stated “WOW I’m not sure. No one has ever asked me something like that in a roleplaying game before.”

I believe many of the new generation of role players have been cultivated to expect a more mechanical type of play. Create a character, complete a task, level up, advance your build, and reach the ultimate goal of success or failure of your character concept. I believe this type of game play has been inspired by many, many, many of the MMORPG’s that people today have grown up with. Those of us who reminisce on roleplaying like it was back in the day, during the original release of D&D, tend to focus more on the journey, the role playing, and the interaction with outers. We generally find what people describe as role play today to be somewhat lacking. Ultimately the difference comes down to (Play style). I believe the solution to this comes down to shopping till you find a likeminded group who enjoys the same kind of play style as you.

I'm a GM that floats between the two
Generally by the Book, but if it is thought out, sounds cool and or out of the box thinking, I'll either OK it or suggest a few changes before execution.

I have a feeling we are going to get beat up for discussing this in a recruitment thread LoL……

Shadow Lodge

Is anyone going to make Campaigns where evil characters are allowed?

Not "Evil Campaigns", Not "Let's murder all the puppies" campaigns, Just normal campaigns, where the party gets together, works on something that normal adventurer parties would do, the party members generally works well with each other, but one or more of the party members are allowed to not be necessarily nice guys.

There is no reason why 99.9% of the evil characters in a given setting would not try to stop the impending end of the world by a terrifying creature they have no relation with. Nor there is a reason for them to murder in cold blood the people that fight with them and that protects them.

I played a couple of evil campaigns and it is fun but it devolves too much into a posturing game of Maniacal laughter and killing random dudes because that is what evil people do apparently.

I have a ton of Evil character concepts I would like to explore that are not stupid evil, is just that all campaigns that I see offered and that seem interesting have a ban on evil characters for fear of the stupid Evil or are happily embracing it, no campaign really offers "Evil allowed but the campaign will not focus on villainous pursuits."

One of the campaigns in which I was a player just wrapped, and I'm surprised to see no one has started a recruitment thread for Against the Aeon Throne. Would love to give that a whirl or one of the more recent PF APs (i.e., Strange Aeons, Ironfang Invasion, Ruins of Azlant, War for the Crown).

I'm not recruiting for any AP, but I am just dropping a message in here to recruit for the Golarion based campaign I'm starting on these forums. The Recruitment Threat

There don't seem to be a lot of AP recruitments lately. Is it because 2E playtest and Return of the Runelords are just out (relatively speaking), and potential GMs are waiting until there's more information on those?

Yes, waiting for Chapter 2 & 3 of Return before putting up a recruitment post. Also, just finished DM'ing a 5 year 7 month, level 1 thru 17 PbP on the boards and need a couple of months break.

The Mysterious Cube

A horned bipedal figure walks into the room and cautiously looks around. Without delay, he reaches into a small satchel and pulls out an ominous looking black cube. He then sets the cube on a nearby table and walks away. The cube’s darkness beckons the curious to step forward.

Interested in monster campaigns so I can play a Minotaur and/or a campaign that I could play my Anti-Paladin Dread Gnome in. Very specific and usually a pain in the butt for the DM, I know! Figured it doesn't hurt to ask.

Looking to play in a PBP for literally any AP. I'm a long time player and GM, and open to play pretty much whatevers needed for the party.

Forgot to post here. I am recruiting for "Return of the Runelords" PbP. Submission deadline is tomorrow at 08:00 EDT, which is 21+ hours from now.

I am interested in playing in a campaign which allows monster race because I would like to play a giant frog monk other than that I don’t can about what campaign I play in

So I originally made this character for Rise of the Rune Lords and lost out on the first attempt and vigilantes were expressly forbidden in two other games I took interest in after that. The character is a vigilante using a 20 point buy. To be honest I have never had a real opportunity to play the class and really want to give it a try. I am willing to adjust or even make a different vigilante character that better fits a given adventure path.

I sent you a PM.

My super-heroic campaign (LINK) uses a simple "two-best/two-dump" array: 19-19-15-15-11-11, which is better than a 20-point buy. We take turns GM'ing, so you won't be the only Vigilante when I play. Mine's a magical child archetype who kick-combos with her Stiletto Boots. As long as your archetype is different, our supergirls (or wonder-women, if you prefer) won't feel like clones.

GMs don't play, so the current group has a Shield Champ (brawler), but no vigilantes. See if my game is your cup of tea, and if so, adjust according to char-gen and join us!

Looking to join a PbP for Starfinder, Society play. New player, have a Lashunta Operative with one adventure under his belt and an Android Mechanic I'd like to try.

Hi - I'm new to Pathfinder looking for a PBP game. I don't have a character already made since I'm open to playing any class. I have enough free time to post more than once a day so hit me up if you have questions or think I'd be a good fit for your game!

Hello! I have been playing Pathfinder since the Beta and D&D 3.5 before that. I am new to the boards and the PBP, but am catching on quickly. I am in a homebrew game currently but would love to play in an AP from the start.

I have played Strange Aeons and Shattered Star.

I would love to play Kingmaker. The open(ish) world style intrigues me.

Hi! I am new to the forums and new to play-by-post but have been playing Pathfinder for about 5-6 years now.

I am mostly a GM but hardly ever get a chance to play, what little free time I do have that goes to playing Pathfinder goes to Gm’ing for my friends. I have Gm’ed both Rise of the Runelords and Serpent’s Skull.

I would love to play any AP!

I'm new to this site and looking to play a PBP. (Warning I have no idea how to PBP!) I love role-playing and Homebrew campaigns! I have lots of characters but I will put Sir Oscar Blublus, a dim witted Cavalier with a kind heart, on here. Thanks!

Hi, I have a level 1 sword and board fighter looking for another PFS adventure. Just finished Fallen Family, Broken Name #1.

This isn’t exactly the place to ask about that. If you’re looking for PFS stuff then stop on by the Flaxseed Lodge.

I used to play-by-post on Paizo, but it's been a few years. I'm thinking of getting back into it.

Think I'll look for a game to play in first, but what kinds of games are people looking for GMs for?

Been years since I've played in a pbp, but would like the chance to test out my new sorc in a level 1 start campaign. Anyone looking for an extra spellcaster?

Silver Crusade

I have a paladin of Shelyn that is looking for a hells rebels game if anyone is looking or has an opening, here's her bio-

background and personality:

1. She lives within the temple of Shelyn. It was they who took her in after she was discovered as a child on the outskirts of town.

2. She guards and helps with the temple of Shelyn, aids in their gatherings and proceedings, and frequently sings when possible. She also paints when she finds the time, however due to the martial law and utter oppression she has been unable to do either for awhile. She also has tried her hand at smithing, or, more aptly, etching and embroidering of armor.

3. She is closely tied to the church of Shelyn, and is well acquainted with many folk of the Opera and enjoyed their shows.

4. Aria often can become lost in her thoughts, even walking around town, many times she has wandered past her destination due to becoming so lost in her own thoughts that she all but stops paying attention to things.

5. No family, at least not blood family. She considers many in the church close to her, and while she loves the idea of love, she has never truly taken with a suitor, be it male or female. Though she often will at least accept and spend time with those that pursue her. She hasn't yet found one she feels "right" for her.

6. Well, they would gain closer ties to the church of Shelyn for one. Aria also has a level-headed mind, usually, has proven to be a natural leader of others, and is well respected by many of the cultured folk in town. She is a great mediator and diplomat, as proven when she managed to convince a couple of hellknights to not torture, or possibly kill, a poor man in the streets. She brings a kind perspective to things, and is defiantly no slouch with her Glaive or blade.

Timezone: EST

Aria was found on the outskirts of town near the hinterlands when she was but a young child hardly able to walk. By a cleric of Shelyn who had been wandering the countryside for inspiration. When she was found, she amazingly wasn't malnourished, and already had raven black hair to her shoulders. Her piercing red eyes were seen for the wonder they were. The cleric sought about her family, but found none, and so decided to take her in at the church. What other reason would he have found her for, for surely the child was blessed by Shelyn due to such beauty at a young age. The cleric, by name of Daren, would care for her like a father would his own child. Teaching her the values of Shelyn, and, against the will of some of the clergy, taught her the art of combat, particularly that of the glaive, his deity's favored weapon. As of now, Aria still believes herself to be a human, completely unaware yet of her divine heritage

As the years past, it became obvious that the child had indeed been blessed by Shelyn, for when she was a teenager, her beauty was unmatched by any within the church, and possibly within the city (though this was quite debatable depending on who did the talking). Not only was she beautiful however, but she had been blessed with a wondrous singing voice and she grew into a very humble attitude that has been tempered lately by a growing pride.

She loves all art, and is a prominent promoter of the idea that anything can be made an art, even the dreadful business of war and battle. And that should times demand such horrible actions, to do them as elegantly as possible. Though, her personal taste is favored more towards that of music and practical art. She finds the greatest joy in both hearing, and making music. To her, music is the most powerful form of art, able to evoke a plethora of emotions in people, even ones they try to hide or do away with, and even can affect some animals. She also sees music as the truest, if perhaps, simplest form of expression of ones soul. At least, when ones creates music that is influenced by their feelings at the moment. Even bad music can move a persons heart, as she has seen with many couples. Her second preferred art is making the mundane and practical beautiful. Such as embroidery on armor and weapons. It does not lessen the quality of the item, but gives it even more value for beauty it adds to it. Though, she does understand the beauty of simplicity as well.

She also goes to great lengths to master combat, treating it as both an art, and a way to defend the ideals and beautiful things shes holds dear in the world. Her favored weapon is the glaive, though she easily make use of a sword and shield as well. Every morning she spends time practicing with her glaive in a ritualistic way, more to ingrain the movements in her muscles, and to help her clear her head for the day, than anything else. Much how a monk may meditate while practicing their movements.

While Aria was deemed blessed by Shelyn, she is still young and even by her admission has much to learn in some respects. She holds some sway in the decisions of the church of Shelyn in Kintargo, particularly those involving her adoptive father Daren, but holds no real place power as of yet within its clergy.

Recently, her few feats have been that of deflating a dangerous situation involving two hellknights and a civilian, managing to convince the knights to spare the man death and torture. She also created a painting of minor renown within the art community depicting a beautiful rose that bled blood, symbolizing the beautiful city of Kintargo that is being drained of its life and beauty by the oppressive rule of Thrune. She has also, away from prying eyes, urged the church of Shelyn to consider doing something, making points that, at the present state hardly any true art could be created, and even less could seek to create. She even made the outrageous claim that the rule of this Barzillia was suspect, if not outright unjust in so doing. The clergy of Shelyn were not even allowed to express themselves with their clothes due to all fine clothing being outlawed for any save a select few, or those that pay exorbitant sums of gold. The clergy, particularly Daren, have warned her to keep such thoughts to herself and close members of the clergy. However she is finding it ever harder to do so, not only in respect for the arts, but for the people of the town. She feels a rebellion may be close, their is a stiffness to the air and a hanging sense of dread. The thought of so many lives lost troubles her, she hopes a peaceful solution can be found before that happens that both keeps blood from being shed, and brings life and beauty back into the city. Though, if there is nothing that can be done to stop bloodshed, Aria has already made up her mind which side of that battle she would stand on.

Personality: Aria is contemplative most of the time, however this doesn't stop her bubbly nature from overflowing often. She is kind and caring to most everyone, always trying to bring cheer to folk. She has a tendency to easily get lost in thought, even at very inappropriate times. She can come off cold at first due to this and her piercing red eyes, however, any conversation with her quickly removes any thoughts of that sort as her friendly nature comes out quickly. She always looks for the best in people, sometimes to her own detriment (often times overlooking obvious flaws, particularly in those that seek her affections). Though, she does sometimes indulge in a bit of fun due to the cool demeanor that many seem to get from her. Acting the part of a cold, if almost abrasive, woman. Over time, this too, has turned into a sort of Art for her.

Appearance: Aria is of athletic build, and much more muscled and toned than an average woman. She isn't particularly tall, but she is mildly taller than the average human female. She has pitch black hair, a soft, pale complexion, and the only thing that would even hint at an angelic ancestry would be her red eyes, and sheer beauty.

Hello everybody, I'm looking for Pathfinder/Starfinder PbP APs. My free time is erratic, but I can reliably post daily around midnight PST - and often more.
I'm looking for a group where we can tell a story together - whether it's a grand epic of killing the tyrant king, or just a party trying to make ends meet. On the other hand, I do enjoy combat, particularly with interesting setups.
I'm open to any AP, aside from War for the Crown, Carrion Crown, Iron Gods, and Ruins of Azlant (I'm already running/playing these).
I usually prefer martial or magic characters, but I'm flexible.

I think it's time I threw my hat back into the ring.

It has been a number of years since I have played in a Pbp game of any kind, and have never done so here. I have a very hard time finding games to play in locally, other than my PFS group, and so far have been forced to GM to get the games I'm interested in. So I'm very interested in playing any APs (except for Skull & Shackles, which I'm currently running). I especially have an interest in Rise of the Runelords, Shattered Star, Reign of Winter, Hell's Rebels/Vengeance, Ironfang Invasion, Rise of Azlant, and/or Return of the Runelords. In reality, though, I'd be interested in any AP, if it was offered. My only stipulation is that I would rather it not be home-brewed. Nothing against it or anyone who runs their games this way, but I really want to experience the stories as they were written as much as possible.

As for characters, I am always thinking up and making new and interesting character concepts, so I have can usually play any role needed, and am more than will to share some of the ones I currently have available.

Oh... one last thing. Seeing as how it's the story I'm most interested in, I would far prefer joining a new game, rather than being brought into something that's already started, but I'm not completely against the idea either.

Hope to talk to someone soon.

Hey everyone!

We're looking to get started on our low level, homebrew horror adventure, but we're in need of 2 additional PCs to run for our 2nd group. I'd rather have two fully formed groups of 4 than play a 6 person group, so I'm chucking my open call here.

We're playing through Discord, but we're doing this same as a PbP. No need to schedule specific playing times, it really justs lets me be up to date on the adventure, and have a Bot handle some of the more annoying things in PbP on the forums.

Here's the link to the thread, but feel free to DM me. I'm going to go first come first serve, since we're already ready to start this adventure.
