ARRRGH!! Vanna’s rapier sinks into the captain’s abdomen, spilling more of his blood on the caravanserai floor!
Badly wounded, and clearly unnerved by the magical powers Altin and Volreg display, Captain Barak strategically withdraws from the fray as best he can, but the cramped caravanserai makes a clean break impossible...
Provoking AoO from Vanna and Wulfgar as he flees the caravanserai!
Seeing his captain routed by the Northman and his company, First Mate Toruko turns and flees from the fray as well, dashing out of the caravanserai and off into the night!
Withdraw from combat and double move out of the caravanserai...
The crewmen, scorched by Mwikali’s magic fire spell, and intimidated by Altin’s and Volreg’s displays of magical power, and by Wulfgar’s and Vanna’s victory over their captain and first mate, run from the caravanserai out into the night!
'Oh thank God, I was afraid this would be the end, that my anger finally got the better of me. But if we don't stop him he will just enslave more people.' answering Altin, also it looks like Giovanna took 17 point damage and Mwikali has healed 6 of those.
'Blast the bastard got away!' Seeing his foe flee, Wulfgar releases he rage, and almost slumps to the floor. Nodding his head at altin, "Your are right we need to go, but save your potion."

feeling Mwakali's healing touch, he nods to he witch, "Thank you." and then quickly grabs whatever possessions the dead pirate had and follows Altin and the others to the boat, calling up to Volreg. "True Volreg, I should not have attacked, but the man had evil intentions, and my anger got the better of me. Thank you all for your help. I would have gotten myself killed were it not for you all."
at the boat
Nodding his head in agreement with Altin, "Yes, well done Little Lord." Looking at the boat Wulfgar, speaking his thoughts as much to himself as to the others. "This is what the Arabs call a dhow, it will need a crew of around ten. If we had time I could teach you all to sail it. If we want to leave soon, we will need to hire a crew."
Walking up the gangplank, he asks, "Do we want to try and spend the night here, or do you think the captain will come looking for us?"

We might need to scrub this from stem to stern...just to get rid of the stench...disgusting. Shall we keep her or sell it?
'I never really noticed.' Sniffing the air Wulfgar turns to Giovanna, "You know, I never really noticed the smell before." He shrugs, "Always smelled like 'boat' to me."
He gestures to the boat in general. "I may not have trusted the Captain, but he had good taste in vessels. There are good points to both keeping her and selling her."
He looks to the rest of his companions, smiling. "Any opinions? Either way, smell or no, we may need to spend the night here to protect our 'investment'"
As they talk, Wulfgar starts moving through the boat, looking carefully at it's fixtures, stores and equipment.

It is a cool night, the 8th of January, and a waxing crescent moon hangs in the sky amid stars that twinkle like fairy jewels dangling in spiderwebs against a field of midnight blue...
The tide gently rocks the Alanqilis at the dock in Anfa, and the adventurers debate the merits of selling or sailing the dhow...

Altin considers the ship. "We have a mode of transport right here. If we can get some hired help in the morning and set sail quickly, we should take it elsewhere and sell it. I imagine there could be trouble if we try to sell it here. After all, it's not like we bought it from its previous owner. I think we should leave, get to a place where neither we nor the ship are known, then sell it."
Passers by give the Alanqilis wide berth, having heard that it is haunted by vengeful spirits...
In Arabic; There she is! The Eel! She’s haunted by the ghosts of Christian nuns raped at sea by those pirates Captain Barak and First Mate Toruko! Beware!

looks at his pipe and then at the Crew then at his weed pipe then back at the crow. Giggles and the falls off his perch, landing on the deck and giggling some more before saying.
"I'm really hungry, who wants to hummus"

He must’ve gotten ahold of some hashish in the bazaar... Hahahaha! It gives you good appetite, yes, m’lord? Hohohohoho!!
As they board, answering Giovanna
He nods in agreement, "You are wise on all three counts; selling the boat elsewhere, resupplying here in Anfa and a watch."
He looks at the group, "There are six of us, we should each take a watch, with some of us sleeping on deck in case of retaliation."
With Mwakali
Walking over to the rail and leaning there by Mwikali, "They care not that it was nun's just that it was ghosts. They know the evil they did to all it haunts them."
Looking out to sea, "It will be wise to sail to another city to establish our deception, but we will get to Marrakesh and end the slave trade there."
Hearing the bird and the Little Lord, Wulfgar turns to watch their antics, he smiles. "It's good the Little Lord can fly or he may try and mount your avian friend."

That night, as Wulfgar and Mwikali look out at the dark water reflecting the light of the crescent moon, the adventurers are visited by the Harbor Master of Anfa...
Rising up out of the water to balance on its shifting surface, she hails the new owners of the Alanqilis...
In Arabic: Hail, companions of Fey Lord Perpireen! I see that you have acquired the Alanqilis for yourselves! I congratulate you on your acquisition. It seems that you are making progress in your quest to abolish the slave trade! I commend you for your noble deeds, and I shall grant you a boon that may aid you in the course of your adventures! Take these six potions of water breathing with you on your voyage. You never know when your quest might take you underwater!
She strides over the waves and hands Wulfgar a great clamshell containing six stoppered glass vials of pale blue liquid...
6 potions of water breathing for the party, compliments of the Harbor Master! This will not count toward your 3,000 gp wealth maximum...

Walking a bit after the group, Volreg looks at the others and steps onto the gangway of the vessel, making some mental notes to himself. "Maybe we should stock up a bit in the morning before pulling out. I would use a bit better armor than the padded kind, if things are hitting as hard as they seem to be. Maybe a few healing sticks as well, and something for us at night to see or read in the dark." Shaking his head, the man seems somewhat oblivious to the antics the little Lord was up to. I swear, the wind is guiding more and more, and it feels refreshing. I need to keep my wits about me lets I start to lose myself.
A somewhat worried look shadows the man's face for a few moments before his thoughts return to the conversations on the deck of the boat. "I'll keep watch up here for a while, and will find a spot to sleep on deck. The sky and stars seem to calm me quite a bit, so I may be a bit more at ease up here." Turning around as he finishes speaking, the sight of the guardian of the port makes him take a few steps back before realizing that she is helping the group.
Everyone can take a water breathing potion, and an extra, as I don't need one with Air Shroud always being active.

with Volreg
Turning to answer the Spaniard, Wulfgar nods, smiling at the mention of ‘something to use at night.’ He illuminates his halo. ”That has not been an issue for me, but yes, resupplying would be wise. One of us should take a quick inventory to see what supplies are below deck or what treasures the captain has hidden. As for tomorrow, I will also be in search of an armorer. The kings breastplate is a fine piece of equipment, but I will need armor for my arms and legs, weapons and fighting styles have changed a little since the legionnaires times.” He lays his hand on his gladius, smiling.”Not that they aren’t still useful in certain situations.”
with Marid, in Arabic of course :-)
As the Jinn, reveals herself, Wulfgar puts hand to heart and bows low, ”My Lady.” Reaching up and accepting the Clamshell, from the beautiful guardian, he smiles at her compliments. ”I thank you Mistress. Your boon is as delightful as it is unexpected.” He gestures to the ship, ”The Alanqilis is a lovely vessel and wasted on the slave trade. It is unfortunate that the beautiful bounty of the sea is wasted on such a trade.” He shrugs, ”But that is the way of men. To use all at their disposal for their own ends.”
He then gestures toward the open sea, ”Tell me Mistress, how did such a creature as yourself, with the wide open sea before her, become the guardian of this small place?”
Alas, it is a very long story, Northman... I inherited this duty from my fathers, who were bound by an oath to the Maranid sultans to patrol the harbor of Anfa and keep foreign invaders adrift... I interpret this command in a way that does not always coincide with the sultan’s intentions... He is not a worthy master, so I subvert his commands when it suits me! HAHA!!
The marid favors Wulfgar with a smile of endearment, then her lovely face seems to blush a deeper blue...
Give me a kiss, Northman! It will give your voyage good luck!
The giant blue woman bows to kiss Wulfgar on the lips...
'Inherited the duty... bound by an oath... interprets ... Lucky we are that she does.' Transfixed by the Marid, Wulfgar takes in every word. barely noticing the blush, but when she asks for a kiss he also blushes, then Kisses the wonderful creature, reaching up and gently touching her hair as they embrace...
trying not to speechify here... he will 'thank her' once the embrace is over, but I don't want to 'overplay' the moment.

Wulfgar has received the boon of the marid’s kiss: 3 times, he can function when underwater or in any other liquid as if affected by freedom of movement (caster level 9th). Once the third use is expired, he loses the boon.
'I feel ... different.' Releasing the embrace, Wulfgar breaths a sigh, his blush brightening, "Thank you for your kind words and your gift. If it weren't for your 'interpretation of our intentions, our task would have failed before it ever started." He looks down for a moment, "It saddens me that you must call any man master, Is there a way to break that curse?"

If it weren't for your 'interpretation of our intentions, our task would have failed before it ever started." He looks down for a moment, "It saddens me that you must call any man master, Is there a way to break that curse?" Yes... But these ways are very difficult... My freedom from this pact can be purchased with an aquamarine jewel called the Tear of Poseidon, said to lie somewhere in the sunken temples of Atlantis... Or by exterminating the Maranid sultan and his heirs...
'Aquamarine jewel 'the tear of Poseidon' in a sunken temple of Atlantis, or the murder of a man and all of his children. I think I know which would be easier and which would let me sleep better at night.' Nodding his head thoughtfully, "Both tasks, difficult in the extreme, for entirely different reasons." He smiles, "I will think on these things. Once I have fulfilled my present obligation, I will attempt to return to discuss it more with you. What would happen if the city came under control from another regime would you be free then? Or would the new regime have the same sway over you?"

If there is no longer a Maranid Sultanate, my pact becomes null and void...
'So there is a third option.' Smiling to himself, Wulfgar nods, "You have given me many things to think about. As I told you when me met, my concern is freeing those who are in bondage." He winks and smiles, "But it is always more personal, when it concerns yourself or someone you know." He bows politely, "Thank you for your gifts. I think that'll be it for Volreg, putting the rest of his share into getting a cart and animals for our new venture in tomb rai.... Archaeology!

I was also wondering if we should sail out of Anfa (Casablanca) to Azemmour or El Jadida. There we present ourselves as the entourage. Then sail to Safi and purchase the animals to 'head inland' to Marrakesh to head to parts beyond (or so the story goes)
That way there is less chance when were in Marrakesh to tie us to anyone who saw us in Anfa.

Quick advice: should I get grease, or silent image as a new 1st level spell? Grease is handy, targets reflex (which I haven't got a spell for yet), but silent image is super handy. What do y'all think?

Imagine the hasty grave robber’s terror as he starts to slide inexorably down the chute into whatever trap awaits in the darkness below...
Back in the day I played in a AD&D game (I don't remember the name of the Mod.) where the hall floor was a teeter-totter and once the party walked past the fulcrum the floor tipped into a very deep pit... TPK...

So having had a bad experience with halls and such before, and having seen 'raiders of the lost ark;' is there a large stone ball above the lintel that's rigged to roll down the hall?
Seriously, my first GM stole the crypt from the beginning of 'Raiders' and put it in the beginning of a homebrew. I had not seen the movie yet, so when I did I was like "Hey, I've been here" My date did not understand.

Cue Altin's joke about big stone balls.
I'm sorry, I didn't hear you, I had my ear buds in, did you say something about big balls?

Alright, where's the golden idol, I got my bag of sand right here...
Ok, due to work I'm three hours past bed time, I'm ok if Wulfgar goes first, but are we waiting for lord P to report? If we have to move in the next six hours send Wulfgar, but he's taking 20 on perception, if we get in combat he will rage and use the sword, if there happen to be undead, and more than one, he will channel...

I assume everyone is going down the chute... or does someone stay topside and guard the rope?

No way Altin's staying behind! He's keen to go first, but I'm happy for others to lead if they want.

So: Wulfgar, then Altin, then Sulayman, then Volreg, then Mwikali, and finally Giovanna? Lord P flying about?

See, it's reasons for posts like this that Wulfgar said 'take 20' on perception checks. It's ok if we take our time, we brought cookies...
@ Lord Perpireen McGibel note that I asked if we were waiting for you! ok, now that I'm done whining I will go back to the game thread.

When there is a penalty associated with failure (such as not noticing a deadly trap), you cannot take 20 on a skill check.
booooo, yeah somewhere in my head I knew that, like I said, just whining, but on the bright side it let Wulfgar test the new halo...

That’s correct, so really, you could have taken 20 to spot the trap, DC 26, but it still would’ve been out of your reach lol ;-)
I'm cool with that, I was just double checking. There need to be some traps, that go off just to keep everyone honest :-), anyway it was a nice way to let Wulfgar introduce the healing thing.
I haven't quite figured out his relationship to Raphael yet. Without realizing it he was a good choice for a 'healer' I figure when Wulfgar gets to the 'spirit' part of 'spirit guide' that he will talk to different angels as the 'spirits.' But for now his 'sponsor' or 'patron' is Raphael.

Haven't been... But I'm playing in two games and running two others, so I've always got plenty to look at!

So Wulfgar should get the wand... Who's having the amulet and the ring, before we face this boss?! I plan to stay at a distance, so don't really need either.
I have not read the other table as I want to be fresh when we all meet up one day. Meta knowing what the other players will be like would kind of take something away I feel.
Hey, why does Wulfgar have to take the wand? Does he look like he waggles wands?
Just sayin...
OH and I will be away from the computer for five hours, but I will check to see what's going on before I go to bed!
