Keeping his crossbow trained at the opening, the man tries to peer into the darkness.
"I still can't see them, but can definitely hear them!"
Altin Karela
If we're intent on drawing them out, which I think is a good idea, I'll ready a spell... Maybe Lord Perpireen could do a fly-by the front of the cave, poke his tongue out?
Hyena of Africa
Assuming Lord Perpireen lures them out with the old fly-by tongue-out taunt...
A pack of four mangy hyenas darts out of the black cave mouth, a fifth coming from deeper in to where the first four initially lounged in the opening...
HAHAHA! HAHAHA!
4 hyenas move out of the cave mouth and trigger the party's collective readied actions, in initiative order, then attack...
#1 Bite at Giovanna 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 misses!
#2 Bite at Giovanna 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 also misses!
#3 Bite at Sulayman 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14, who dodges!
#4 Bite at Wulfgar 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9, who dodges!
#5 Dash from out of the deeper darkness to the cave entrance!
Wulfgar Ivarsson
a quick question for the purposes of the readied action, the map has us 20 ft from the edge of the cave, I assumed we stopped moving when the yipping started so we would get 60ft for ranged attacks. Are w in fact further away, and just there so we can see our alignment to the cave or are we actually that near the cave?
if were 60 ft away, Wulfgar would use the sling first round and then sword second round, if we are 20 ft away he would have switched to the sword.
Altin Karela
Altin holds his spear to the side, humming a comic old Romani tune, drawing on the musical magic of his people. As the gnolls get closer he releases the magic.
Hideous laughter, releasing it when the first gnoll is 10' from Altin. Will save DC 14.

Ummm, the first wave is hyena's, so will the hideous laughter work on them?

They are tenacious, forcing you to draw within twenty feet before giving fight... They, too, wish to lure YOU in...

Would he actually cast the readied spell on a hyena? He stated gnoll as the ready trigger...
Altin Karela
Gah read the words Hewy... Okay, so I thought gnolls were coming because idiot. Altin would be able to see that they're hyenas and shoot though, is that permissable? Or am I locked in to the spell?
Lord Perpireen McGibel
Choowww ChoowW all aboard the GM Train :)
Seeing there cunning plan fail with a sniff. Lord Perpireen goes to high, some 35' above the Cave entrance and lights up. Glowing while moving about, in the way his light shining into the cave a little and distracting the ones inside.
Full Defence AC26
Hyena of Africa
'We got sloppy, we should have stayed back, where we could use the ranged attacks.' Realizing they were too close too late, Wulfgar raises his greatsword and slashes at the nearest hyena.
[dice=attack]1d20+6 for [dice=damage]2d6+6
YIIIIIIPPPE!!
The hyena is cleaved wide open by the savage sword of Wulfgar! It falls lifeless at the Northman's feet!
Altin Karela
Thanks GM :)
Altin looses an arrow at the nearest hyena as they charge.
Point Blank Shot: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Lord Perpireen McGibel
Then Lord McGibel bright as a touch Zips into the Cave and flies around it at stop speed doing a recon flight, looking for how many are there and the space inside.
Fly speed 60' Perfect 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28 Acrobatics to get out the way of danger. Full Defence again, to keep himself safe. His aim is to detracted them while getting Intel.
"You Silly Dogs, can't hurt us, we will wait outside until you starve"
He calls to them as them as he zips past. He will keep out of OoA range flying high and low.

Damage+Point Blank Shot: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Volreg lets loose a bolt at one of the hyenas coming out of the cave.
"These look like malformed dogs! And why do they laugh?!"
Volreg Sundek
I think so, but may be posting soon after looking at the times posted earlier.

So with Sulaymans attack we should be at the top of the order, yes? So anyone going before the gnolls/hyenas can go?
'Need t get these things off of us.' Seeing the hyena he attacked dead, Wulfgar turns and slashes at the nearest one that attacked Giovanna, Two on one, that's not quite fair is it?"
not sure which figure is Wulfgar or which hyena is dead, so I'm hoping he can move or 5 ft step and attack another hyena, preferably one of the ones attacking Giovanna.
attack: greatsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 for damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 6 = 10
Altin Karela
Having some difficulty shooting past his allies, Altin wheels around past Mwikali(?) on the outer edge of the back row in order to get a clean line of sight on the hynena at the end of the row.
Moving in a straight line through Mwikali's space, continuing on for two more squares, then firing at the closest hyena.
Short bow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Dmg: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Wulfgar is the mini with an oversized greatsword closest to the hillside, with an overturned hyena mini in front of him... He can easily move to the rear of a hyena attacking Giovanna and get a flank bonus, so that would make his 12 attack roll a 14, which hits!
Dashing to the rear of the nearest hyena snapping at Giovanna, Wulfgar chops into the mangy beast’s rump with his massive blade! It yelps in pain...
YYAAALLLP!!!

[Dice=Short bow]1d20+5

Altin sends an arrow flying into the breast of the hyena Wulfgar and Giovanna are now flanking! It yelps a death cry and collapses, twitching in the bloody sand!
YYAAARRRPP!!! *Thump!!*
Hyena of Africa
The other hyena on Giovanna now turns to snap at Wulfgar... Bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 sinks into the Northman’s leg, dealing 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 piercing damage, and it yanks, trying to trip him... CMB 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15...but the Northman stays upright!
Another hyena snaps at Sulayman... Bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 sinks into Sulayman’s leg, dealing 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 piercing damage, and attempts to pull him prone...CMB to trip 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 fails to bring him down...
The third remaining hyena dashes toward Altin and bites 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19, dealing the archer 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 piercing damage, and yanks...CMB 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23...pulling Altin off his feet to land supine on the hard pan desert ground!
Yikes! This round could be called “Revenge of the Hyenas!”...
