Darn. Well, that's that.
Yes you are. And we should talk about the next table I'm running for you :D
Sooooo...if you say we should, shall we? What do you have in mind?

Hey folks, because I will primarily be running my Kinetic Chirurgeon through Flaxseed, I want to get all of your input on which Mercies you all think would be best for me to select for my PC. He will gain 1 Mercy at 3rd level and then can select a new one every 2 levels thereafter from the available paladin Mercy list.
So far this is the progression I was looking at, but I'd like to get some input from you all considering I'll be working for your PCs!
3rd - Fatigue
5th - Shaken
7th - Diseased
9th - ???
11th - ???
What say you?

![]() |

Well if someone is doing something at a higher tier, I have a level 5 inquisitor dying to get some action!

GM.Kashka |

Exactly as described in the Roleplaying Guild Guide. Page 16
It's very similar to Player chronicles.

![]() |

I would definitely do poison at level 9, and probably cursed at 11. And my first three choices would be the same as what you've already got.
Thanks for the input, Granta.

![]() |

I am trying to figure out though how I would report it.
When you report the scenario it asks for your PFS number and dash. So assign to any dash you want. If the chronicles is for a higher level than the character is at you just have to wait to apply the paper chronicle to the character at the appropriate level. The system doesn't care if things are out of order really.
In fact, the paper chronicles are always the official record. The reporting just helps Paizo understand what is going on in organized play and give players a place to look if they get confused about the bookkeeping.

![]() |

Not an online thing but I'd figure I'd get input here.
I'd like people's opinion on this.
Edit: Whoopsie! Syntax is important!

I.... don't know if I'd agree about classing this as a 'genuine mistake' -- not that I think he was lying, but in terms of, that's what I'd classify as some super scenario shopping, which in general PFS play sort of tries to discourage? The player used meta-knowledge from having already GMd a scenario in order to switch factions all for the sake of trying to purchase a cheaper item, etc.
I dunno, I'd probably refund the prestige I guess but I'd also not fault a GM for saying 'welp, guess you oughta double-check something like that before you try to scenario shop and faction-swap just to get a discount.'

The World's Most Interesting GM |

And this is why we can not have fun things.

![]() |

No I would go with being wrong about the cost that gets refunded. Switching factions was entirely their idea and they are stuck with it. I believe prestige changes are always non refundable unless you have done something you couldn't have done. (such as buying an exchange only boon when you are in fact liberties edge)

GM Hmm |

Tyranny of the Winds Part III Question
Was that chronicle sheet poorly worded? Yes, it was.
I can see why the player that you talked to would be confused over the issue, and empathize with their frustration here.
____
Refunding the Item?
Yes, that can be done. If you bought the boon item at the wrong (illegal) price, you can either:
A) reverse the sale, and sell it for 100% of what you paid, since the sale could never have happened at that price;
B) pay the difference and keep it.
Refunding the Faction Shift?
I cannot speak for how other regional VO corps might rule. This is a grey area that is ultimately a VO call.
If this happened in the online region, Jesse and I both feel that the prestige for the faction shift would not be refunded as that was a voluntary and legal action, regardless of the reason for doing it.
Ultimately they should discuss it with their regional VC where it was ran as their local Venture Officer should help them make those corrections.
I hope this helps.
Hmm

Thanks for the imput. The thing is that I am the VO here. I will drop a line with my V.C. to get his input, but I've been second guessing myself, hence why I sought out input.

How exactly does enchanting a double weapon (a quarterstaff, for example) work in Pathfinder? What does it cost?

![]() |

I thought as much - even though I have mixed feelings about that.
Personally, I'd rather they'd gone with treating it as a single weapon, but each enchantment costs +50% beyond the standard.

I agree with Shifty. If you made double weapons cost less than the equivalent two weapons, then they would rapidly become everyone's go-to. Double the cost for double the weapon is fair.

I was *not* a fan of them until my taglines got so spammy that it was overwhelming some of my posts, so the brevity offered by them was helpful. Because they are spoiler'd, they can still be clicked.

![]() |

I tend to spoil my active spells and buffs, everyone can still see the total stats easily, and if a list of exactly what's up is necessary, it's there without cluttering 90% of the time.

![]() |

I put my pertinent info in my main tagline, and I spoiler my skills in a second tagline... works for me

![]() |

As a GM I like to see AC and ideally hp. Perception (and in some scenarios sense motive) are also handy, as are saves if the GM ends up needing to roll them.
While I like init too, I only use it once, and generally make an init block for the start of each combat. It does make creating the block to start with faster.
The only place I use spoilers is for my animal companion stats.

I prefer this template, but my rule is simple - if I have to look something up, you need it in your tagline. Too many systems don't include some of the critical information.

I hope this is the right place to come ask for help.
I'm looking for a mentor to help me through my first PFS gm game. I'd be open to the mentor either lurking in the thread or being a player.
A little more about me:
I've been GMing a home game for about 2 1/2 years now.
I've been playing PFS games in PBP for about 1 1/2 years.
I have a GM star, but it's from campaign mode chronicles with my family.
I would like to try GMing a Pathfinder Society play-by-post game, but would like an experienced GM involved who I can turn to with questions and for suggestions.
Is there someone here who would do this, or who could tell me who to contact for help?

I am willing to help as well. Player or some one if you just want to message when you have a question.

Ah, grooming her for Management. Well, looks like she's got a fine set of guides. She'll do well, I think.

If you're a prospective GM, speak up. We have tons of friendly faces looking to help out! BTW, finally back from PaizoCon. If you've been waiting for a response from me, know that I see the PMs in my inbox and will get back to them after a) laundry b) falling down and crashing.

Because I'm a Minnesotan and played PbP once under Silbeg, I tried that template out and liked it so much that now all my current characters use a variation of it. You can see a sample of how it looks on Cup, my studious librarian bard.
I don't enjoy as a GM clicking a spoiler for any main character stats. Having tons of little spoilers in the stat block drives me personally off the deep edge -- but hey, it's not a long trip. I know other GMs who prefer it. The most important thing is clarity. Your stats should be easy to find and up to date.
I do like using it to track consumables like wands, but I suspect that I could only do that on low level characters who have a small selection!

Hmmph. Good reminder. It's time to level Cup so that she can travel the planes, or planets, or whatever it is we'll do in Cosmic Captive.*

* Feigned ignorance about the plot of the upcoming special? You bet. I gotta compartamentalize somehow.

Who wouldn't have fun with Tineke and Therry?
And who says that I don't have secrets about her? Remember, I asked her questions all weekend. I now know everything there is to know about the Netherlands. I can pronounce Tineke's name. I can say 'stroopwafel' and I know what a Rotterdam accent sounds like. I shook her down for top secret information on all of you Netherlanders.
Muahahaha.
Remember that though Tineke tagged me as being part of the "less crazy" Minnesotan group, I'm still certifiable. All Minnesotans are. Must be something in the water.
Oh. Here's a fun fact. Tineke recognized me from my green gnome avatar. I look just like it apparently, except taller and more purple.
Hmm

A big part of wanting as much info in the header as possible, spoiler tags in headers, and placing not placing your maps in the header if you're a GM is Wayfinder. The app is wonderful, but trying to navigate to a character sheet, or trying to get at the maps when they're not placed just so is a royal pain the ptukus.
I highly recommend it, but if you start to use it, these things will start becoming very obvious.
