I thought management once said they track how many new events happen and that they preferred a new one per game day, though this is old and possibly wrong info.

"What? What? Hey! I've got another announcement for you all while my son is still off on some top-secret grand adventure, what!"
"First, more than 400 years have transpired since the Pathfinder Society began in a humble tavern that has quietly weathered the centuries without incident. The Flaxseed Lodge has decided to support a few adventurers who would like to go experience the location themselves. Come see me if you are interested!"
06-10 The Wounded Wisp has been added to EndlessForms' signup sheet. It is "an evergreen, replayable scenario designed to help introduce players to the history of the Pathfinder Society and Absalom’s greatest sites." Levels 1-2 only.
"Who? What? Ah! Secondly, an elusive enemy of the Society has launched a campaign of espionage and intrigue from Stonespine Island, the homeport of the infamous Okeno pirates. The Society wants to sneak a team of agents through one of the largest slave markets on the Inner Sea and track the slippery mastermind to her base, what? Ho! Come see me if you'd like to play the part of a slave and infiltrate our enemy's hideout!"
06-11 The Slave Master's Mirror has been added to EndlessForms' signup sheet. Liberty’s Edge and Silver Crusade factions should be interested in this one. Levels 3-7 allowed.
----
As usual, sign up for either scenario (or both) if you have a character available. I'm still in New Zealand but when I get back to the States on January 13th (or more likely a day or two after I get back), I will announce who has won using a lottery system if I get more than 6 signups.
Thanks everyone and good luck!

Whoops! Meant to post that in Gameplay. Oh well, I'll go make a duplicate post there and then no one should miss it, haha!

Could I get you, or someone to please put Shel down for consideration for The Slave Master's Mirror? Thanks!

Although Shel just got into one of my modules I think so check the Gameplay thread! Unless you've got another character in tier, that is, then feel free to sign up with that character.

I would like to start GMing some PFS scenarios through this lodge. Who do i contact to get a tab up top for a sign up sheet? and is there any special info/requirements for GM through the Flaxseed lodge?
Professor Snouts Oinkerton |
I'm not EffortlessForms, but he's the guy who'll eventually see that message and is owner of this thread. In the meantime, set up a GoogleDocs (or other preferred filesharing site) with the proper share permissions to let everyone edit, and post the share link here.

Right here! If you've got a sign-up spreadsheet, send me the link and I'll add it. Or feel free to advertise games right here or in Gameplay.

Many thanks for linking my sign up sheet. I am currently running The Pallid Plague and will start The Rise of the Goblin Guild as soon as there are enough to start and my schedule clears up some. I hope to get through more in the future.

Qwerty has inspired my to look into GMing.
I have plenty of years experience with both F2f and PbP games in the past, but not PFS, which I am relatively new to. But thanks to the lodge, it was easy to get into playing, and I really enojoy the format, pace and participation. So I am ready to explore doing my part to run games for others. However, I am not sure where to start.
I have read the other posts about how to GM, but what I need help with now is some of the specific details. How do you set up for PFS? I assume I can just buy the modules online, but is there another source or place I need to register first? Is there any sort or qualifying process, or can anyone jump in?
I would think it is easier to start with a low-level module, and there always seem to be plenty of players for that, but I would almost like to start with a low-level for other GMs who are willing to help a newbie get their feet under them. Does this make sense? How did you all get started?
Any advice or direction is appreciated!
thunderspirit |
Fuzzfoot: welcome to the club! :-)
You've got an account at Paizo, which is really the only place you need to register. Since you've played a couple of play-by-post (PbP) games, you have an idea of what needs to be done — the only qualifier is a willingness to see the game through to the end.
You can buy the scenarios and/or modules through Paizo; scenarios are all .pdf, but the modules can be hard copy if you'd rather. The trickiest part of any PbP is preparing the maps, which is easier, in my estimation, with the .pdf version but can certainly be done with the hard copies.
Online play also requires some method to distribute Society chronicles; once you've signed one, you can scan it and upload to Google docs or something similar. Or you can go more fancy and use image manipulation software to fill them out, or something in-between.
Starting off low-level is fine; feel free to let your players know this is your first try at PbP and they'll almost always be willing to help out any way they can.
Most important things to remember: have fun, make sure your table has fun, and keep things moving as best you can. The last is best accomplished by consistent posting from you and your players (along with contingency plans for when someone can't post).
Good luck! :-)
Professor Snouts Oinkerton |
Qwerty has inspired my to look into e...
Given that you're posting on here, you've already got a Paizo account. Conveniently enough, that's the only registration required! And if you've been playing PFS, that would mean that you're familiar with (or at least aware of) the Guide to Organized Play. Once you're comfortable with that, then just buy a scenario and find some players.
There's always more minute details like FAQs and Reporting, but that's the gist of what you asked.
Or Thunderspirit will beat me to the punch with a more through post...

But then I wouldn't exist! o.0
Cheers to all who want to use the CRB (and PFSGTOP and additional rules). That is not my aesthetic, but clearly it has a lot of support.
Tyranius |
You can still exist. It just allows you to play scenarios again for credit with core only characters. They are not eliminating PFS
EndlessForms |
Yep, just think of it as an entirely separate campaign. If you're content with PFS the way it is, just keep playing as you have been. But for people like me who are running out of things to play and run, it gives me the chance to play/GM some of my favorites again. And some people actually prefer the slimmed-down core-only rules set to what has become a fairly bloated system.
I will run some Core scenarios in the future after my current batch of scenarios and modules finish up. I've got enough games going on at the moment though.
DM Rah |
I think it's a great idea. I know a few casual players who want to play PFS, but prefer simple games. This would do a lot to make them comfortable with the system.
Once I'm done playing EF's Wounded Wisp I think I'll run it as a Core Campaign scenario. I'll add it to my sign-up sheet a little later.
Fuzzfoot Hogan |
I like the idea of a campaign limited to the basics. That might just be where I start running a campaign - seems to simplify things a bit.
EndlessForms |
As I'm out of scenarios to run except the new stuff, I think I'll just start back at the beginning running everything for Core. But it'll be a while, maybe a month or so, before I can get some of my current games finished. And of course we'll be due for some new scenarios soon too and I will, of course, run those as well.

It's crazy, always-busy GMs like you that made Core so appealing to many VOs. :-)

The Core announcement was the final push I needed to give this a go. So I am now announcing that I will begin a Core System game on Feb. 16, assuming the final details on running these is ready (and I have players). This will be my first foray as a PFS GM, in case that scares anyone off.
I also have not yet decided on the scenario, but I think I would like to stick to a season 6 scenario since that will require the least amount of variation due to faction changes, etc. So, I believe I have successfully setup a signup sheet here.
If you would like to join me, please sign up and if you know, give an indication of class (I know no one has new core characters created yet, so I won't hold you to it), and what season 6 scenario you would prefer to use. If we get a common thread, I will use it - if not, I will choose from those listed.
I would like to choose the scenario by Feb 3.
qwerty1971 |
just as an understanding, CORE rules only means bard, barbarian, druid, cleric, fighter, monk, paladin, ranger, rogue, sorcerer, and wizard with no archetypes...
EndlessForms |
^Not just limited to those classes, but everything is limited to the CRB. In other words, only CRB feats and spells are allowed.
Signboy77 |
I'm pretty excited about this. I'm not even close to reaching my limit of scenarios to play or GM, but this means that some of my favorite people on the boards will be able to play a bigger variety of scenarios, and that just makes me happy.

I'm also excited about Core. I'm looking forward to re-running some of my favorite adventures, and it really helps with the paucity of low-levels I could run for credit for my home groups.

Some might argue that those guides were written by a Flaxseeder as well. ;)
Also, I love the Core option as well and expect to spent more of my time there.

Now, where's the much ballyhooed Painlord's Guide to Dancing With The PbP Stars?
