I would still play 1.0 and run 1.0.
When 2.0 comes out I'll take a look but my main focus would be 1.0 as I have a lot of scenarios I have not played or run.
And I do like CORE..............

This one. Tonya ran Hands of the Muted Gods at a con I attended last year, and it was the closest I've come to being on the receiving end of a TPK. Even with modern, power-creeped characters, it was still brutal.

In the same way that Venture Officers currently are for both Pathfinder and Starfinder, they will continue to help out with both first edition and second games as long as first edition games continue to be played in their areas, I believe.
Here is the post by the OPC answering this question. I remembered it earlier, but was too sleepy to find it.

Count me among those cautiously optimistic/excited for 2e but also more than willing to keep playing and GMing 1e for as long as there's interest for it here in the lodge. Since I largely only play and run games via PbP and since I only started doing that seriously within the last year or two, the vast majority of 1e material is still open to me :)

Speaking of playing games.....I have 3 characters that are pretty new looking for games. #1 hasn't played anything, #2 has only played Confirmation, #3 has played 3 games but not Confirmation.
I know that Outpost is just starting, but the 1-5's filled up in just a few hours. Anyone planning to run something low-level anytime soon?

Everyone, with the triple bar on the top header now pointing to the forums, do I still need to have the forum navigation link at the top of Flaxseed or can I take it down now?
Also... I am thinking of purchasing some treats for the tech team that got us back private messages and forum navigation. If anyone wants to join me in this, we could have a local bakery send one large basket to Paizo. Let me know if any of you want to join in with me on this.

If we are REALLY going for #completionist, then they may have to un-retire some of those older scenarios that some late comers never had a shot at. After the start 2e, is there any reason not to do that?
So...once Paizo stops supporting 1e in PFS you don't really need them to un-retire them. You can play them for "credit" because the official credit giving people won't be giving credit for anything anymore and they'll be just as legitimate as anything that was never retired.
In theory, if you have copies of the adventures from somewhere, a player could start 1e PFS after it is officially retired.
The rules are out there and as long as a group agrees to abide by them, you don't really need Paizo to sign off on what you do with them (so long as you're not breaking any copyright laws.)
It's not like they can send out the PFS Inquisition to shut things down (though I suppose they could forbid 1e play on the forums.)
Just like WoTC can't stop anyone from playing 3.0, 4th ed or even adjectiveless Advanced if those people have copies of the content.

Gotta agree, and I got to play it at SkålCon with Boomer as the GM. It it was also a blast.

I still need help. Google Docs still isn't working for me, and that's no good at all.
It was fine until I made another one of my own for the adventure I'm running now (which I've got a link to right here). I have no idea what's going on or how to fix it.

@ philipjcormier,
Including outpost, i have 2 games of which i think they will come to a close in the not too distant future, given their post rate.
Are you looking for repeatables, or just low tier in general?

That sounds great, thanks Redelia! I didn't realize that the Venture person model was "game neutral."

I'd contribute to that.

Philip, I recommend taking some time to go through all of your chronicle sheets and either enter them into a spreadsheet, or use the handy PFS Tracker to track your plays. Once that is done, it becomes pretty easy to figure out what you have available when games are forming.

I took a look at your link and the document looks normal to me. I didn't try to move anything or interact in any way.
Best I can suggest is that you search online for solutions: here's a linky that might help get you started.
(I use Google Slides for my games, don't know if that might work out better for you).

Well, it isn't always completely game neutral. For online, we have a separate Venture Team for the card game, although we work together/talk a lot, since we do conventions together and share many of the same questions and complications.

I'm considering dipping my toes back into the GM waters after my GMing hiatus, so I could possibly open up a low tier table.

I still find it useful, because I have my Campaigns page bookmarked as my main entrypoint to the Paizo website, and the link in the Flaxseed header is still the easiest way to get from there to the main forum directory. Every other way requires me to click through another page to get to where I want to go.
But this is just my own use case; navigation is much better now overall, and I could just as well bookmark the main forum menu. So if you want to de-clutter the Flaxseed header I won't be upset. :)

I know this board is blowing up with 2nd ed. scuttlebutt but, does anyone have time to answer a 1st ed. Question?
LOL
Constructs ( not summoned constructs or other corner cases) The class of creature known as a construct, does it detect as magic if detect magic is cast on it? If you have a reference link to your answer it might be helpful barring an official ruling, I’m inclined to disallow detect magic to be effective.
DebugAMP |
Generally, constructs are either crafted using Craft Construct which has a caster level requirement, or by Animate Object (possibly coupled with Permanency). The latter would definitely be detectable via detect magic according to RAW, and I'd argue the former should be no different although I have nothing to back that up.
Chyrone |
I doubt it works on every construct. Golems for example are animated by elemental spirits.
But i agree with DebugAMP, animate object would definitely ping.
The only creatures Detect Magic itself mentions as giving off a vibe to that, are outsiders and elementals, provided they are summoned via magical means. :o
There might be quicker and clearer answers in the rules section.

By that logic wouldn't an awakened animal also detect as magic? I know it changes to type magical beast..but now it detects as magic?...
DebugAMP |
No, awaken has duration: instantaneous. It makes a permanent change and leave no lingering aura.
Animate Object has a duration, and Permanency changes it to Duration: Permanent, thus the spell would detect.
Chyrone does make a good point though about golems though. It likely depends on the construct. A robot would not ping as magical although it would ping as technological if using technomancy.
GM Cwethan |
Well Detect Magic only works on active spells and magic items.
The Animate Object spell clearly detects as magic, whether it's been Permanencied or not, but I don't think constructs are magic items, so they wouldn't interact with Detect Magic, just like I wouldn't let someone use Dispel Magic to temporarily suppress them.
My 2 cents

Interesting. So you have a slide show in your header, and it appears to be editable by others — good. How are you accessing it, Closet? If you are on mobile, I recommend using the Slides App. It is much easier to manipulate slides when using that app in mobile platforms (like iPads and tablets.)
BTW, would you like a cleaned up image of Tahonikepsu?

I believe it is safe to take down now.
EDIT: The mobile website is still a little wonky with navigation, but once you figure out where the drop down icon is, it's fine.

I'm selfishly hoping Flaxseed will become the place where I can make a run for Seeker... in like 5 years.

I am willing to burn my replays for another run of EoTT.
Continuing the discussion from the recruitment thread, I too was a little bitter when the new edition dropped. Especially with what is going to happen to all the race boons that most of us worked hard for.I was immediately shut off and thought of just dropping all my tables, because you know, whats the point. My table credit will not mean anything after the switch anyways since we are going with the whole clean slate thing.
But like others, I am going to be running and playing first ed. until either I run out of scenarios or characters. I will probably stop making characters though.
On another topic...only 22 games away from my 4th star....doubt I will get to 5 before the switch.

Wanted to respond to what's happening at the recruitment thread, but decided to do it here (since it's not about recruitment per se).
I must say I was quite taken aback by the actions of the GM in question, because in many ways, our situations are similar. I only started less than two years ago (coming May will mark my two-year PFS anniversary!). And I've sunked quite a bit into this, what with the pdfs and the hero lab packages. But perhaps what might differ is that the vast majority of my games are played via PBP. In fact, in recent months, I've stopped playing face-to-face or roll20 games completely without realising it. I've found this medium much more conducive for my roleplaying, and besides, this has been a fantastic community! But as such, I'm playing through the scenarios incredibly slowly. Moreover, I've barely touched most of the modules or APs! So even though there are no new scenarios coming up, I imagine I would still be playing for years to come. Certainly, I would most likely stop creating new 1E characters (but when I'm up to 17, I better stop) but I see much life ahead for my current ones just yet.
So why I am writing this? Well, this is a commitment that if there are people still willing to play, I will continue to GM 1E games here on pbp. Yes, I'll likely hop into 2E when it comes out, but I do not wish to retire my characters just yet! (Except for a handful which didn't quite click after playing a few scenarios but that's a different matter.) So, here's hoping there are others who would do the same. Otherwise, my characters have no games to play in... :)
Warah |
Yeah, they way I see it, there will be enough people still playing 1E for quite a few years after 2E hits that I’m not worried. I’m just not going to purchase any other 1E stuff. Since I’m fairly new to this, I may still create some characters just so I can start understanding on a basic level how some of the different classes function, but I don’t plan to get attached to any of them.
