I guess it's a possibility at some point or another, whether it be of actual playstyles, misunderstandings/misinterpretations or another cause.
If both parties want to talk out their differences to clear the air, great.
It wouldn't always work, i guess, but if that's the case, water under the bridge and move along.
And who knows, perhaps in the future the two game alongside one another (unknowingly perhaps, or through limited seats) without a hitch.

I joined the PbP universe less than a year ago, and I've found it very helpful to ask the people I've really enjoyed playing with to introduce me to like-minded GMs and players. I've also met a few through cold-calls, some hits and some misses.
The incompatibles have my best wishes, and we go our separate ways. Plenty of Golarion for everyone.

Hey everyone,
It's now 1 week until the start of OutPost. If any of you are signed up for a game but the game has not mustered yet, please let me know so that we have enough time to deal with any problems.
GMs, please make sure that you have put a link to your game in the spreadsheet. If you have players who have not yet checked it, please send them a PM; we would like to fill any empty spots in a few days.
If there are any other problems, let me know and we'll try to get everything sorted out.

#13 The Prince of Augustana (line 35), GMCariMac hasn't mustered yet. There are two player slots that aren't fully filled out there, either.

Where can I find the PbP Character Sheets for the Paizo Pregen characters?
I recall some awesome people put a lot of work into them, so I figured I'd make some use out of them since I plan to play one. :)
BTW: I was looking at the HP/Skill Point numbers for Balazar (the Summoner) and the numbers don't seem to add up. He also has 1 too few starting languages, numbers for the Eidonlon, etc... What is the deal with that?

Brunoreturns, Thank you for letting me know this. As I headed the project off, at the prodding from a certain lady in red, I will check into this and post an update shortly.
Would you mind letting me know which Level you saw this with please?
Edit/Update: I reviewed the PbP BB code Summoner Level 4, as I believe that is the one to which you were referring, and it matches stat for stat against the Paizo Pregens you are able to download from the Community use section.
I, however, do agree with you Brunoreturns that what you have pointed out is off, I will look into forwarding this on up through my VO chain to see what can be done to resolve the error.
Thank you again for letting me know what is going on.
GM Poblano Pepper |
Yes, level 4 :)
I started off plugging the values into HeroLab and noticed the discrepencies.
When I play the character, should I use the values that are in the Pregen or should I plug in an extra language, etc so that the stats are "correct"?
My understanding is that we must use the Pregen as it has been written. I could be wrong here though.
Ietsuna |
I noticed something strange with the paper Seltiel Pregen level 1 a while ago (He has spellstrike at level 1 even though magus doesn;t get it until level 2). I was told that the pre-gens bend the rules sometimes and we just go with it so the values may be right as per to pre-gen but not quite "correct" if you built it from the ground up.

I was also told that HeroLab also has a problem with you being able to buy magic items beyond the Fame level if you have the cash listed on hand. For example, I had bought a Ioun Torch with a 1L character paying GP. Ioun Torch is only 75GP but the character did not have the 5 Fame minimum.

Correct. Hero Lab does not enforce (or even let you know you are breaking) the rules for having enough fame to make a purchase. Would be a nice improvement if they would add it.
GM Hmm |
Ah, but how then would they account for chronicle sheet purchases, which bypass Fame requirements?
Hmm
GM Hmm |
I am not talking about free purchases. I am talking about purchasing with real money items found on your chronicle sheet. HeroLab has to allow people to do this.
Hmm

Hmm
Since it doesn't enforce spending rules at all, it would explicitly allow you to purchase items on your chronicle sheets. :)
This issue may be the reason that they don't enforce the rules. Otherwise they would have to require you to enter all of the items found on your chronicle sheet. Much better to have the uset self-manage.

Hmm
HeroLab does allow you to do this. The weakness of HeroLab is that it will allow you to make purchases that you're not entitled to make.
While HeroLab correctly calculates the amount that you are allowed to spend based on your Fame, and displays it on the Journal tab, it does not prevent you from spending money in any amount. It is still up to the user to only make legal purchases; HeroLab won't prevent that.
HeroLab allows you to:
- purchase items up to your current wealth in value, whether or not the item is within your purchase limit based on your fame
- purchase items of any amount for free by checking the "Buy for free" box, whether or not you have enough Prestige to claim the item from your faction for free
Zin Z'arin |
This is probably becoming a topic for a HeroLab forum, but in the same way that they offer a check box to "Buy for free" they could offer a checkbox to "Buy with Prestige Points" (deducting PP from the journal tab) and "Buy from Chronicle Sheet" (allowing the purchase in excess of Fame).
At least that way the user would have to take deliberate action to make a purchase that they wouldn't normally be allowed to make, and document the reason why it's allowed.
I'm not a programmer, but if they could do "Buy for Free," the other two options don't seem like they would be any more difficult.
brunoreturns |
True, adding those checkboxes should not be difficult for the devs.
I think the core problem comes down to devs only having a limited amount of time to handle all of the player companion releases, ap releases, etc.
They also have to support 12 or so other game systems. What is really needed is a product that supports Paizo exclusively. Something like dndbeyond.

Heads up: I looks like the new site layout doesn't show new Private Messages. With Outpost gearing up, you might want to be sure and check that manually.
I'm Hiding In Your Closet |
Yeah, I was gonna say about that: Holy Chao! When did THIS happen, why did they do it, and what if I don't like (at least parts of) it? I don't mind the shaving-off of that left-hand bar with all the pan-forum thread updates, but other elements of this don't feel like improvements so far.
GM Hmm |
Yep, that is a known bug, along with links looking like regular text and navigation to campaign pages being more difficult.
Still, if this is more stable, I will take it!

Where is the tab that shows my active campaigns? When I go to my previous bookmark, it takes me to the main paizo site, and I can't find a button anywhere that takes me there?
Click on your own name and head to campaigns.
You should be able to find your active campaigns there.GM Z..D.. |
I have been going to my profile, then the campaign tab.All active campaigns should be there.

Yep seems to be the fastest path.
Click on My Account (top right)
Then select My Profile
Then Campaign tab

What's the etiquette for summoning monsters in a PvP?
Do you just tell the GM what you want to summon and where or should you have tokens ready?

I like to have a token (with profile) ready. But this PC is built around summons. I don’t know if I would go through so much effort if I just happened to be summoning once in a blue moon.

Everyone, there is a new version of the Roleplaying Guild Gude available. Everyone may want to download it. Not only has the Concordance been opened up (pages 28-29) but there have been changes to retraining rules on page 38.
There are some big changes here, including allowing oracles to retrain mysteries. (Price is steep, though.)
There are also new Faction Cards available including cards for the Concordance!

I have spent the last 15 minutes trying to track down where the Roleplaying Guild Gude is now. Can someone help me out? (It's probably somewhere obvious, and I'll feel like a dufus when I see it.) Thanks!

They updated both without the date changing. It messed me up when I first looked too.

That one leapt out at me as well and allowed me to switch my heavens oracle to bones which fits him much better. The 10pp and gold was well worth it.

Hey, everyone, there have been some heated discussions recently about maguses using Dervish Dance. I just wanted to make sure everyone in our Lodge is aware that an official clarification has been made on the issue. It can be found here.
GM Aerondor |
I thought there was going to be something in the new guide about the scarab sages going away, and options for conversation to other factions. But I didn't see that.
Someone might want to also tell Paizo that the "last updated" date is wrong for the guide, it is still showing last years date.
GM Poblano Pepper |
Page 28 of the guide (Top right corner) Refers to this happening.
Along with Linda's and John's and Tonya's Blog posts all allude to the if anyone wanting to switch to the Concordance faction will be allowed to do so for Free without having to pay the 3x Char. Level in prestige to do so.
It could also be attached in line with the first Concordance Tagged Scenario 9–14: Down the Verdant Path that was just released Yesterday. The Great Lady in Red has stated that the Scenario does not have rules/guidance on a faction Change over.
I'm just spit balling here though, I'd keep an eye on the Paizo blog should something come up explaining in better detail.
Edit: It looks like John is on the same boat as us. He commented on the Paizo Blog Yesterday stating he is currentlyt speaking with Linda and Tonya about it and will get back to us soon.
