We haven't gotten it either, and have been exposed a couple of times. Knock on wood as well. I still keep a cloth mask shoved in my purse, though the last time I used it was in a theater to block the scent of the heavily perfumed patron behind me (!!).

So dragon is getting carved up, at least a little. Helping the townsfolk recover, and at least getting the necessary clean up out of the way. Are there any tracks to follow? Like Turq said, that would be a good lead. Guess next is where the heck we going, do we leave now or after a short or long rest?

Also our DM is about to drive from Ohio to Wisconsin through icky weather, might be a day or two without updates. (Drive safe honey!)

I hope the eye surgery turns out well for ya! My mom was able to go without glasses for the first time in her adult life for many years afterwards. I'll probably need to get it someday, too.

I think fights should be a bit of a challenge, sometimes necessitating a pause to rest and recover or some other action that makes us players think and take stock of what might be coming up before we react. But not so much we have to retreat back to town and start over (it is after all a game). Dunno the last few fights, before this part of the adventure, were maybe a bit easy but we've got some excellent role players so it keeps being enjoyable.

I'm glad you all are finding good/better positions within the teaching fields. It is a thankless and tragically underpaid profession. And it's not going to get much better in the next few years (but maybe after that fingers crossed). We don't have any skin in the game, no kids, but I do wish things were different. Just, yikes. Also thank you for putting up with the hellions as well as the kids thirsty to learn.

Hmmmm....evens longsword, odds another battleaxe... 1d2 ⇒ 2

Umikh is grateful to Horschach for the opportunity to get back to banging out the old steel. At first he thinks to make a simple utilitarian axe, and once he's back into his groove, Horschach encourages him to go bigger. He tries to remember how old his family heirloom of a battle axe actually is, and realizes that since his family have been city dwellers for some time, it might have seen the most use fairly recently. Umikh remembers his parents, his elders, and the wonderful work they did back in the old days. He recalls being taught how to hit the metal at an angle just like this (as he does the action himself here and now), how to feel the grain of the metal, how to temper in just the right fire.

As the thoughts in his head give way to the actions of his hands, he is surprised to find a lovely longsword taking shape. His focus brings him peace, and he is exhausted when Horschach tells him to take a break. Never expecting to see this fine work again, he profusely thanks the master for the time at the forge and takes a well deserved rest.

Or that happens after several days; I know zip about smithing other than hitting hot metal until it does what you want. Anywho that seems like a great way for my boy to spend his DT, and maybe a nice break from his old ways. New weapon, new attitude? And now Patti Labelle is stuck in my head.

The tales of Baldrick and company?! Heh, he really is a cool character. I think you all have had really shining moments :-) Umikh's over here just trying to figure out what to do with himself. I'm hoping he becomes some great fighter or local hero but who knows.

Sorry, thought I'd replied. I'd prefer to keep the current backstory, with the same story, though I'm not married to the location. Rodalas' escapade has caught my full attention now!

Umikh would simply state his name, if asked, as he is embarrassed at what his family has become. Perhaps someone can remind him that his history is still one to be proud of.

Background for the new/refresher: Umikh's family is from the Far Hills, east of Baldur's Gate. His forefathers were highly regarded metal smiths. Some of the metal work and weapons they created are still functioning. Which is one of the many reasons for their family's decline, including declining demand and increased supply costs, as well as the interfering presence of the Zhentarim.

To make ends meet, the family cuts corners. Doesn't heat the metals hot enough, mixes dirty sand and inferior metals into their kilns. The mob's pressure to produce contributes to the inferior products they churn out. His family doesn't really seem to mind, the money is still enough that they have all they want and much of what they need. It doesn't feel right, but no one is getting hurt.

Until someone does. The failure of their product cost lives in a tragic accident that no one was left to blame them for. Umikh decided no more. He is not cutting any more corners. They can just make better products for fewer people. His family said....nah. So he left.

We won Halloween! Heh heh. It was a fun weekend of games, puzzles, brain benders and a whole lotta luck. The costume contest was really fun, and we learned to play Crazy Moose.

I went with the bracers of keeping warm, and also picked up a short bow and arrows so I have a ranged weapon just in case. The idea of an earring whispering to Umikh was not pleasing to the character (!!).

Umikh will explain that he remembers a frequent customer explaining at length how resurrection works, that you need the perfect moon alignment and a holy symbol and a specific incantation. Or well the moon part for sure, another customer had started arguing about what else was needed. Customers were both picking up dinner knives as he recalls, it had to have been a slow day for all that chat.

Meaning he doesn't think it's right this guy betrayed his own kin. Umikh would not like to be screamed into oblivion again and would be highly reluctant to go back to the banshee, but if everyone goes, he'd go.

Welp, guess this is the one Roddy...Rodalas talked about. And he runs up to swing with that axe: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 unsure if that hits, but if it does 2-handed damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5.

I'm actually grateful for people sharing what they feel like after the shots. Good to be prepared and know what to expect. No idea when we'll qualify for them but I hope it's soon.

I actually like the pace of these games. But DM is right, "patience" is foreign concept to me, lol.

Umikh audibly gasped at the suggestion that a trap was to lure in dogs, but upon examining and thinking about it, he agrees this is probably to attract bears. Or people.

Well we best be on our guard regardless. Does anyone see tracks of the ones what laid down this trap? Perhaps we can follow them. Or wait, maybe they'll come to us?
