Baldrick Longhall |

Baldrick, still using his warhammer as a head-scratcher, is caught by surprise as his comrades charge in. Turning his head slightly to look at Khitt, he thrusts his weapon in the direction of the druid, shaking it slightly for emphasis: "What's this guy's problem?! He should really just calm down..."
As he speaks, a faint glimmer accumulates on the head of Baldrick's warhammer, which he unknowingly shakes off in the direction of the frost druid. The glimmer drifts toward the man, surrounding him alone.
Using a Sorcery point for Careful Spell, meaning the following only affects the enemy:

Khitt pops out of his hiding space and with a click, zip and thud, the goblin's quarrel embeds itself into the icy exoskeleton of the dark-skinned man! Blood pools briefly and freezes in a line as it runs down his chest!
You barely have enough time to see the frost druid reach back to cast something and Baldrick mentions something about calming down... Chill out! XD And no sooner does the comment leave the soldier's mouth does the druid's chanting become slurred and his eyes droop, the icy blue glow fading... Then he is face down in the snow!
Combat over. You were lucky! Beat his hp by 3!
The young woman silently stares over the unconscious form of her father, the fire slowly fading from her hand...

Baldrick Longhall |

You were lucky! Beat his hp by 3!
HA! Amazing! :D
Baldrick walks over and looks down at the druid, his mouth open in surprise: "Is... is he asleep?!" Shaking his head in a slow, incredulous 'no': "I don't think I'll ever understand humans - they're just so weird!"
"Well... I guess we should tie him up, eh?"
Do you need a roll to bind and gag someone? Maybe some kind of DEX roll?
Tying knots: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
oops! well, maybe if a roll was required, someone can tell Baldrick he's doing it wrong...

Umikh Ironbender |

Baldrick you silly old dwarf, we know that was you!, and without waiting for a reply moves to help tie the slumbering druid up. Umikh assumes at this point that Baldrick has been trying to keep his casting covert, but this one was pretty obvious in his opinion.
Now what? Give him to the town? He looks at the man's daughter for the answer. Family first.

![]() |

The young mystic nods, The laws of man and laws of nature must be in balance... Give him to the Speaker, to show that we respect their laws. Best knock him out, if this sleep magic will not hold long... Elf? You seem to hit hardest, or perhaps the master Dwarf, with the large axe?
She seems on the verge of tears, but holding herself together by sheer willpower. The young woman approaches Baldrick, since he was the first to address her father, thinking him your leader, Could you take me to where you found my friend's restless spirit?

Baldrick Longhall |

"Wha..." Baldrick frowns at Umikh, about to respond that no, he is most definitely not weird like a human! when the young woman approaches him.
He immediately swallows his bluster, but then quickly looks uncomfortable - not so much because of the tears, but because he's been approached as the leader: "Er... um.. sure, miss. But Rodalas here probably knows the way better'n me. And he actually spoke to 'er."
Baldrick will likely assume that he and Rodalas are the only ones who are immune to whatever power the spirit had, so he is happy to accompany the woman out on the ice

So, if anyone wants to converse with the young druid or do anything other than turning the druid over and taking the girl to the banshee I'll give a little more time...

Rodney Lash |

Just as Rodney is about to let loose of his spell. The male druid drops to the ground asleep. His magic slowly fades.
"Well that was quick."
Rodney helps tie the druid "I think druids are like most spell casters and use a focus and/or spell pouch. So those needed to be removed." And he start to search and remove items from the druid.
But when he comes across something of value it goes into his pocket, hoping others don't noticed.

Deception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

It is up to the players if they notice or not. I don't allow skill checks against other PCs, but the druid does not seem to notice.

Khitt |

Khitt shoulders his crossbow and steps away from the stone he was using for cover. Whistling lowly, Khat returns to his side. ”Thanks for your help Sister. This couldn’t have been easy. Are there more druids here to serve the stones or is it just you two?”
Khat sensing a primal connection with the young woman, moves toward her slowly. First taking in her scent and then rubbing her face along the druids leg affectionately.

![]() |

She accepts Khat's affection, petting the snow leopard and scritching her cheeks, There was one other, my father's student, but he has not returned from his migration circle yet. We expected him home two nights ago...

Rodalas, are you in Winter mode?
The young woman looks at Rodalas with curiosity at that comment...

Baldrick looks confused: "Well, yeah, someone could take his hands, and someone else his feet - prolly easier than dragging him..."

![]() |

alright if we take him to the spirit I think we will be bringing back a dead man. If the town wants justice we need to bring him to town and his daughter to testify and then to the spirit. While we carry him to town I will just ping him every minute without killing him to keep him unconscious

![]() |

Baldrick's attempt, whether intentional or not, to cover up the winter Eladrin's cold solution elicits a smile of thanks from the young lady, Let us take him to face justice from the Speaker, and then...
Her voice cracks, and she stops speaking for a moment to compose herself, ...Then please take me to her...

![]() |

Assuming that no one wants to do anything else right now, and that there are no objections to the plan...
On the trip back to town, your rag-tag bunch draws the attention of the people as you see them peeking from behind their curtains, a couple open doors to watch from their thresholds...
Once or twice, Netzer thinks he sees the druid stir, and pops him in the nose for good measure...
After about a half-hour, you make it back to the Speakers house. Edgra looks impassively at the dark-skinned man, then to his daughter, as you tell her the tale of what you think happened, and how this man ended up in her living room. She sighs heavily, as if this is the worst part of her job, and looks to Rodalas first, Will this put those spirits to rest?

Umikh Ironbender |

In a stage whisper to Rodalas, [/b]Tell her some of our group is gonna go see the spirits next, with this one's kid, reckon we can ask 'em. Just not right,[/b] he finishes, shaking his head.
Meaning he doesn't think it's right this guy betrayed his own kin. Umikh would not like to be screamed into oblivion again and would be highly reluctant to go back to the banshee, but if everyone goes, he'd go.

Rodalas Windrace |

I am not sure how to respond to the question, if it were up to him, the banshee would get the man

Khitt |

when did this suspected murder take place? Do we know? Is the timing on the senior druids student not returning and the murder suspiciously the same day?

![]() |

Based on conversation with the daughter, the last time she saw her friends was about a moon cycle previous...

Baldrick Longhall |

There were two figures on the lake - maybe the other one was the apprentice?
Religion: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8

The other spectral form looked like a rogue or something similar... Of course the corpse that you were trying to investigate was a druid... ;)

Umikh Ironbender |

It's always a possibility: Religion check: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Umikh will explain that he remembers a frequent customer explaining at length how resurrection works, that you need the perfect moon alignment and a holy symbol and a specific incantation. Or well the moon part for sure, another customer had started arguing about what else was needed. Customers were both picking up dinner knives as he recalls, it had to have been a slow day for all that chat.

Rodney Lash |

Know religion: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Rodney sits back in amazement on how astute Umikh is about such things.
"Well who knew that you were so well read, Umikh. But it's not any moon, but a Witcher's moon that happened about ten days ago." Rodney comments

Baldrick Longhall |

Baldrick, completely confused, looks back and forth between his comrades: "Moon? Wha-"
Giving up, he turns back to the Speaker: "Well, I dunno about them spirits, but don't you humans have a system for dealing with criminals?"

![]() |

Edgra gives Baldrick an irritated look, Of course we do! But what don't have is a system for getting rid of angry ghosts!
The Speaker of Dougan's Hole composes herself, I apologize, Master Dwarf. I am not used to dealing with outsiders. My primary concern is the safety of my people. If bringing the man to justice is enough, then we will do it. Hold a trial and execution... If not, I will not endanger my people.
It is then that the young woman speaks up again, It will be enough. We will bring her his head if we have to... He is no father of mine...
She stares hard at the frost druid, as if steeling herself to do what is needed.
What is the plan then?

Khitt |

Religion: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Khitt feels like there still a piece of this puzzle missing but he goes along with the plan. He can’t quite put a finger on what’s bothering him.

Baldrick Longhall |

"Ok - so I guess we go see Rodalas's ghost friends now. Could be they'll wanna do the executin' themselves. Probably want to do this trial before the giants get here, though..."

![]() |

The Speaker shrugs her shoulders, I'm not one to stand on ceremony. Maybe a half hour?

Baldrick Longhall |

Baldrick shrugs again: "Okey, half an hour sounds fine - will that give us enough time to talk to the ghosts and come back? We should probably be here, since he attacked us. Maybe those ghosts want to come as... uh, what's the word? witnesses. Y'know" putting on a sppoky voice: "Here's what man that murdered me!"
"Anyway, if you wanna put that together while we go back onto the lake bit a quick visit..."

![]() |

ok we know that there was this guy who was found first out in the snow attacked by the ghost was a druid fella too right? So we take this here fella out to the ghost as the sentence and we let the spirit decide the justice so that the justice is clear in all ways and the girl here gets ta say goodbye to all she sets aside and can have peace each way? I will drag this fella and punch him the whole way for a chance to see peace in this girl's heart and for this town to have it's defense too cause maybe the spirit can help against that evil that is coming in some way? Netzer says with a big break having not ever talked so much in his whole life

Umikh Ironbender |

Umikh looks a bit astonished at Nezter's long ramble, but nods his head in agreement. He makes ready to leave as it sounds like we're headed out right now.
Right? We got a good plan in place, nicely summed up! Well we think we do anyways.

![]() |

Edgra nods, If the spirit recognizes him, that will be evidence enough for me... Let me ask, though, how do you know it was him?
@Rodalas, did you tell her about the visions given to you by the banshee?

![]() |

Gotcha!
Oh, right, right. The banshee gave you visions. I was in the business, I know what you mean. If you take him and come back alive, I will know that you were right. If not, well, we have to take care of our own... Edgra Durmoot goes back to her wood stove and warms her hands, giving you a silent nod to get going...
--
You carry the body out to the ice, to where you were last attacked and keep an eye out for the telltale signs of the phantom apparitions that attacked you before.
Are you making any presentation of the druid to the banshee?

Umikh Ironbender |

The dwarf way would be to shove him up front and shout 'hey we got your murderer here'. But maybe y'all have something more elegant?

Rodney Lash |

Before they leave Rodney grabs a candle and places a silver coin on the counter. "That should more than cover this." he says as he walks out the door.
Rodney starts to put wax into his ears as he approaches the ice and hands some to anyone else who wants some.

Khitt |

Khitt takes Rodneys offer of wax. He has a feeling, if this goes bad, the wax may not be enough protection though.
”Rodalas, you should probably present Druid for inspection. Make sure the banshee is appeased with his offering. She seemed to fancy you from what you told us.”
