Paizo Welcomes New Order Editora as New Brazilian Partner

Brazilian Portuguese translations begin soon

Paizo is pleased to announce a partnership with New Order Editora that brings the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, and the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game to Brazilian gamers.

New Order Editora's first products will be for the Starfinder RPG line, targeting a Q1 2019 release of the Core Rulebook, Alien Archive, and Dead Suns Adventure Path, along with the GM Screen and character sheet accessories.

New Order will begin its Pathfinder line of Brazilian Portuguese products with Pathfinder Second Edition. More information will be released after the conclusion of the Pathfinder Playtest, which continues through the end of 2018. The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game will release after Pathfinder Second Edition.

Claim Your Heritage, Level-Up, and Join the Crusade in Part 5 of Doomsday Dawn, The Heroes of Undarin

The Pathfinder Playtest continues to evolve with an ancestry rules update!

Paizo Inc. turned its attention today to The Heroes of Undarin, the fifth of seven scenarios in the Doomsday Dawn adventure in the worldwide, free Pathfinder Playtest. In this chapter, players create new hardy 12th-level characters who are accustomed to facing terrible foes in the Worldwound, a land ruined by demonic powers.

"A group of agents is sent deep into the Worldwound to uncover the secrets of the White Axiom. You are sent to protect them, said Jason Bulmahn, Director of Game Design at Paizo, setting the scene.

Throughout the playtest the Paizo design team has listened to players and made changes to the game, including modifications to core systems like proficiencies, difficulty classes, death, dying, skills, classes, and multiclassing archtypes. Today marks the release of Update 1.4, which delivers an overhaul of the ancestries. Starting with this update, when players make a character, they select not only an ancestry but also a heritage from within that ancestry. The heritage gives them additional physical characteristics based on their lineage, and choice of heritage is in addition to the ancestry feat that they gain at 1st level.

Bulmahn added, "The one thing we’ve heard mentioned over and over is that many of you felt like the ancestries weren’t quite giving enough at 1st level. We also saw a number of responses saying that taking a feat to be a half-elf or half-orc was too steep a price to pay. This update makes changes to the way that ancestries work, while also giving you some additional high-level ancestry feats to use in your game!

In addition to surveys on Chapters 1 through 5 of Doomsday Dawn, there are now surveys up for Ancestries, Classes, Monsters, Hazards and the Rules as a whole. The playtest bundle, updates, and surveys are all free to download at PathfinderPlaytest.com.

Solve the Mystery in Pathfinder Playtest Part 4, The Mirrored Moon

Today, Paizo Inc. officially began The Mirrored Moon, the fourth of seven scenarios in the Doomsday Dawn adventure. It runs through October 8 as part of the worldwide, free playtest of the second edition of Pathfinder on both real and virtual tabletops.

The adventure sees a return of the characters from Part 1, now at 9th-level. In the years that have passed, these heroes have grown to be powerful adventurers in their own right, but the mystery that started all those years ago in Keleri’s basement has yet to be solved. In Part 4, they continue the quest in Thicketfell, in the faraway River Kingdoms.

"The heroes from Magnimar are sent to secure aid in the River Kingdoms, while looking for a place called the Moonmere, the home of an ancient Kellid wizard who has something to do with the ominous Countdown Clocks," said Jason Bulmahn, Director of Game Design at Paizo.

Today also marks the release of Update 1.3, which delivers a number of substantive changes to the game, including a revision to the Proficiency, DCs, death, dying, the Medicine skill, and revisions to a number of classes. But there’s one other gigantic addition.

Multiclass Archetype Update

Paizo has playtest material for all 12 of the multiclass archetypes, along with some revisions to the existing multiclass archetypes found in the Pathfinder Playtest Rulebook. These additions expand the range of tools when building new characters. With these changes, players can now create a bard that dabbles in the strange mysteries of the monk, or a barbarian with a sorcerous lineage. Paizo put all of these archetypes in a document for ease of reference, the Multiclass Archetype Update. The playtest bundle, updates, and surveys are all free to download at PathfinderPlaytest.com.

Paizo released Escape from the Prison Moon, a Starfinder science-fantasy adventure for 3rd-level characters, by Eleanor Ferron today. Fight to Survive the Night in Pathfinder Playtest Part 3, Affair at Sombrefell Hall

Paizo challenges players to confront the horrors of Doomsday Dawn and then give feedback at PathfinderPlaytest.com

Today, Affair at Sombrefell Hall the third of seven scenarios in the Doomsday Dawn adventure officially began at Paizo Inc. The relentless adventure for four 7th-level characters was written by acclaimed Paizo Developer, Amanda Hamon Kunz. It runs on real and virtual tabletops through September 23 as part of the worldwide, free playtest of the Pathfinder Second Edition.

Jason Bulmahn, Director of Game Design at Paizo, introduced the new scenario saying, "A group of agents of the Palantine Eye are sent to secure the aid of an occult scholar who is on sabbatical at his family estate, which just happens to be in haunted Ustalav."

The playtest is available as a free PDF bundle. Changes to the playtest have already been made! Rules Update 1.2 and a new character sheet have just been added. Player, Game Master, and Open Surveys unlock as each new part begins. They will remain open throughout the playtest period. The PDFs and surveys are all available at PathfinderPlaytest.com.

Today Paizo launched The Reach of Empire, a Starfinder Roleplaying Game adventure for four 1st-level characters. The adventure begins the Against the Aeon Throne Adventure Path, a 3-part, monthly campaign in which players visit and explore some of the worlds of the sinister Azlanti Star Empire. Pathfinder Playtest #1 Starts Today

Tell Paizo how "The Lost Star" went at PathfinderPlaytest.com

The first of seven Pathfinder Playtest adventures officially began today. The Lost Star runs through August 26 as part of Paizo's multi-month, worldwide, free playtest of Pathfinder Second Edition. Paizo needs player feedback to make one of the world's best fantasy RPGs even better.

The Lost Star is an adventure for four 1st-level characters. Paizo's Director of Game Design Jason Bulmahn gave a spoiler-free introduction to the adventure, "A noblewoman's vault in Magnimar is pillaged and you are tasked with recovering a lost family heirloom. Can you find it in time for her to visit the Swallowtail Festival?"

After completing The Lost Star, players and GMs should go to PathfinderPlaytest.com to give their feedback through online surveys. The surveys will remain open throughout the playtest period. Players can also share their opinions on the Pathfinder Playtest Forums on paizo.com.

Paizo will be discussing the results of the surveys and changes they are implementing based on player feedback both on paizo.com and on the Paizo Twitch channel. Players can stay informed by signing up for email updates at paizo.com.

Today, Paizo Inc. launched the worldwide playtest of Pathfinder Second Edition, an evolution of one of the world's most popular tabletop roleplaying games. PaizoCon 2018 Set to Celebrate Hobby Gaming in Seattle and on Twitch

Taylor Fischer is an artist who works with Paizo to conceive and illustrate many of their books such as the Curse of the Crimson Throne hardcover and Occult Adventures, as well leading up the early designs for the Starfinder series. Taylor's work is diverse in style and background, from sci-fi to fantasy. Taylor has "AAA" gaming industry experience, having worked on Elder Scrolls, Civilization, Xcom, and more. As an Adjunct Professor at the Maryland Institute College of Art, she taught students how to create industry standard concept art, the production quality artwork requirements required by the artistic game and visual development industries, and the techniques for digital painting. PaizoCon 2018 Runs May 25-28 in Seattle

Gamers worldwide converge for the annual celebration of all things Paizo

Join Paizo staff, authors, artists, and more for a weekend of gaming and camaraderie! The Pathfinder Playtest doesn't release until August, but attendees at PaizoCon will get a chance to see the evolution of Pathfinder in action. Paizo Inc. today announced the worldwide open playtest of Pathfinder Second Edition, an evolution of one of the world's most popular tabletop roleplaying games. The playtest begins August 2, 2018 when Paizo releases the Pathfinder Playtest Rulebook, Pathfinder Playtest Adventure, and Pathfinder Playtest Flip-Mat Multi-Pack, kicking off a massive multi-month free playtest.

Digital editions of all three Pathfinder playtest products will be available for free at paizo.com starting August 2. A limited number of print editions will be available at game stores and bookstores all over the world, as well as at Paizo's booth at Gen Con in Indianapolis, Indiana, August 2–5. Players can preorder print editions of all three playtest products from local game stores now, or directly from paizo.com between March 20 and May 1. Paizo will not reprint the playtest rulebook or adventure, so players must preorder to assure they do not miss these items.

Paizo launched the roleplaying game industry's first large-scale public playtest in 2008 to create the first edition of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. Tens of thousands of gamers collaborated to improve its original concepts. "As Pathfinder has developed over the last ten years, we've continued to think about how to make the rules more fun, easier to learn, and better for telling our favorite fantasy stories," said Erik Mona, Paizo's Publisher and Chief Creative Officer. "It's time to take another step forward in the evolution of the game."

Jason Bulmahn, Paizo's Director of Game Design, has been the lead designer of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game since its birth. "With the new edition, we have a chance to revisit some decisions we made with the first edition of Pathfinder. We're updating the game's engine while also adding a bunch of fun new ways to play," said Bulmahn. "There is a lot to discover, but you will never be far from the game you love—the game you helped us make."

"First and foremost, the game has to be true to itself. We're very excited about the new edition, but it won't be perfect until you've had a chance to try out the new rules and let us know what you think," said Mona.

The 400-page Pathfinder Playtest Rulebook contains everything players need to create characters and run Pathfinder adventures from levels 1–20. The rulebook will be available in softcover, hardcover, and deluxe special editions in addition to the free PDF. The 96-page Pathfinder Playtest Adventure contains seven short multi-encounter scenarios designed specifically to playtest the game at different levels of play, corresponding with regular playtest surveys released through PathfinderPlaytest.com starting August 6. The Pathfinder Playtest Flip-Mat Multi-Pack includes 2 double-sided miniatures-scale maps for use with the playtest adventure.Paizo plans to release Pathfinder Second Edition in August 2019. Pathfinder: Kingmaker Launches Kickstarter Campaign

Owlcat Games outlines its ambitions for the first isometric RPG set in the renowned Pathfinder fantasy setting.

Developer Owlcat Games announces the launch of its crowdfunding campaign for the party-based fantasy video game Pathfinder: Kingmaker on PC. Players will shape the history and destiny of their own kingdom in the game, by choosing the path of tyrannical rule, subtle diplomacy or trickery and deceit. Pathfinder: Kingmaker Marks First Computer RPG Created Based on the Pathfinder Universe

New Starfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Takes Players to the Stars with New Adventures, Starship Combat, and More

Starfinder Society will be a brand new global, cooperative roleplaying campaign with its own quests, scenarios, rules, documentation and characters. The team behind Starfinder Society will be a familiar one to gamers already playing in the Pathfinder Society. Organized Play Coordinator Tonya Woldridge leads the team, with John Compton taking on the role of Lead Developer of both the Pathfinder and Starfinder organized play programs. Thurston Hillman joins the team as Starfinder Society Developer. Hillman has been a part of Pathfinder Society since Season 1 when he authored Pathfinder Society Scenario #55:The Infernal Vault. The volunteer team of Venture-Officers will also remain the same for both campaigns.

Arclight and Paizo Partner to Release First Japanese Translation of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and Pathfinder Adventure Card Game
