This is a dwarf centric story with a token elf and a human storyteller to regale the elf with more dwarf stories, and then a human who counts himself a dwarf by upraising so... Yeah
So the eladrin wants you to believe, bwhaa has haa

lol - well, Baldrick, Umikh, and Rodalas have certainly been around the longest (with Turq popping in and out). Sorry if I've dominated too much of the conversation! I've had the idea for Baldrick for a long time with a sort of clear vision for how I wanted him to develop (except for the switch to Barbarian - that was a new idea because of the recent Wild Magic subclass).

It's also a side-effect of being one of the most interesting and unconventional character (no offense to anyone else)... ;)

I like coming up with weird-ass people to play :)
unfortunately, sometimes they turn out to be a~%#~!&s and then I have to shelve the idea. Baldrick is just a sweet, confused dude, and being with this group has helped him come out of his shell.
Baldrick, if you missed the previous post where I added to your DT story, let me know and I can post it again for you.
Thanks! I did see it, I'm just working through how to incorporate it. I like the idea of one or more of the trio having different training (i.e., other than battlerager), but I think Baldrick's progress to control of his magic has to be more drawn out.
Since the incident that gave him (or brought out) his power, he's been hiding it from himself and others, partly because it reminds him of the trauma of losing his squad to a magical event. He's slowly become aware that maybe he's the source of the weird things that happen and that scares the shit out of him. Having to confront that, for now, is going to send him into a Rage.
The rough idea is that, as he reaches Barbarian 3 (and gains access to new wild magic powers), he will have learned to channel his fear and anger and trauma into Rage Magic. (Assuming we're still going at this point) I might then switch back to Sorcerer, where he can try to control his magic and maybe gain some peace of mind.

Sounds good. This little detour is how you get your magic weapon, having the opportunity to forge it yourself, like Umikh...

Baldrick Longhall |

lol - I forgot that Paizo censors the swears.
Oh right the forge...
Baldrick does have the Smithing skill, but I think of him more as a "sous-chef" level of skill (or maybe just lacking in confidence).
I recently reread The Crystal Shard, which reminded me that they collapsed a bunch of tunnels during the attack on the Ten Towns. Restoring the buried forge seemed like a good way to give Baldrick a chance to meet some new people, with a cache of magic items provided for their reward at the end. Very happy to change that though, if it doesn't make sense.

Haha, only flaw in your logic is that this is over 100 years since they did that. The tunnels have long since been cleared... ;)

Baldrick Longhall |

lol -- hey man, why clear out old tunnels when you could be digging new ones!

The tales of Baldrick and company?! Heh, he really is a cool character. I think you all have had really shining moments :-) Umikh's over here just trying to figure out what to do with himself. I'm hoping he becomes some great fighter or local hero but who knows.

Ooh, that could be good. Second wind will also give you a way to get some hp back too...

Greycastle |

Fighter Barb is good especially with that INT to back up the eldritch knights spells. Downside to casting is you cannot maintain concentration through rage so you have to be carefull. Another interesting combo based on your story could be Paladin not sure if you have th stats for it though.

Baldrick Longhall |

Similarly, for Baldrick, not being able to cast/concentrate while in Rage is a disadvantage. Concentration spells didn't really fit with someone who was casting unconsciously anyway, though. That would mean that B wouldn't work very well in a smaller group (or one where an arcane caster is required) since most of his spells are instantaneous / support.
I like the idea of the earring encouraging Nezter to seek out magical power as part of its evil influence. If he had the WIS or CHR, cleric or warlock would also be really interesting choices.

Rodalas Windrace |

Sorry, had to teach last night and this afternoon. I went to Mass, took a nap and am not ready to catch up!

Baldrick Longhall |

So sorry to hear that, Netzer. May their memory be a blessing.
I think we're on a short hiatus anyway, as Aeshuura is on vacation.

![]() |

Condolences, Netzer. Take any time you need. I will be gone almost 2 weeks, and will start back up around then. You take care and we will welcome you back when you are ready.

Baldrick Longhall |

Aeshuura's last post says he won't be back until the 28th (that's tomorrow) and Netzer had a death in the family.
I had thought to do a bit of RP, but stuff piled up at work and I picked up a freelance project (I'm writing the rulebook for a board game)

Okay, I will try to get a post up today, but I am playing catch-up at work, so it may be a bit... We have no gas at home, so trying to get ahold of the Gas Company so we don't have to take cold showers like we did all weekend, so there is that too.

![]() |

Yeah, we have gas again and hot showers! ^_^ They need to replace our tank, because of some rust, so we are on the waiting list for that, but they are partially filling it so we don't need to worry.

Rodalas Windrace |

Sorry I was not really around this weekend, a good friend of mine passed away on Friday evening.

Baldrick Longhall |

That's really rough -- hope you're doing alright

Rodalas Windrace |

Thank you. He was very active, always bike riding or hiking or white water rafting. He had a heart attack and the loss of oxygen to his brain is what did him in. So very sad.

![]() |

I will give Rodalas until the end of Monday, though it is completely understandable, given the circumstances.
Then I will continue and he can jump in when he feels up to it.

![]() |

Sorry folks. I am swamped here at work. I will try to get something posted at lunch... :(

I'm out of town for a few days. I still have solid internet access -- I just might forget :P
