I like this.

But also tragedy needs a note of hope to really get my feels going. The darkness makes the light that much brighter. :)

Agreed. This is why I have always loved fairy tales. Sometimes I've had some trouble with people over the years because of genre confusion. Because someone else thought that it was supposed to be horror. See, I grew up with the old kind of fairy tales, not the disneyfied versions. And those are chock full of terrible things. The main difference between a fairy tale and a horror story is the ending. There is always a happily ever after. But getting there, well, anything can happen. ;)

Grimm Fairy tales or bust. Best stories ever.

Just a reminder (given the time in real life that's passed since):

Nearly everything pre-Tryko'Sam going off and being possessed was started out of SIM Room 3, which no one's really returned too.

Once I get a proper queue from someone in-game, as to finding Maya here, or return to the sealed off SIM Room 3 (unless teacher on a security by-pass access it), I'll keep an eye out.

Now, on the off hand you folks involved in Tryko'Sam's re-re-rescue just want to fast forward so we can proceed with Time Skip (+1 week), lemme know and I'll draft up something to post once we get to that.

Life is choice. Embrace it.

As for the Murderer 'bit', still keeping an eye on further steps there too. ;) Not ignoring you folks, honest, just ... waiting for key words to trigger reactions.

Cheers.

1d20+16caster level check against the DC of the poison to remove.

Without actually examining the poison itself (impossible without cutting Tryko'Sam open, though he might not care), applying the cure proves to do little to nothing. The patient is dead too often for it to work, and further, it appears the neutralizing agent is resisted-- which is odd, and unexpected, considering the adaptation potion took. Selective potion use?

Landscape wise, everything is perfect. Perfect temperature, breeze, clean air. It's heavenly! There's a city far in the distance with shining spires and an organized layout, way that way, while hills and mountains stretch elsewhere. Lots of green, perfect grass. Two diva types flying over, nearly arriving.

When Silinrul examines the figure of Tryko'Sam, he notes that the guy has no scars, or other wounds. He sees first hand someone denied the chance to stay dead, and is perfectly well built for his apparent age of mid-sixteen or nearly twenty. More importantly, however, touching him in relation to the setting around, doesn't feel 'good'. There's an obvious unnatural, dark, nastiness around him which he'd immediately attribute to his Druidic awareness, or ties, telling him such. Plus, a corpse should stay dead- this guy defies Nature's cycle.

Very perceptive folks will realize that the pattern of Tryko'Sam's deaths, aren't exact. But they are repeating often, without any indication of abating.

The Chosen One blissfully resists the urge to pet Jeran, while people use skills and do things behind the wolf. She clearly isn't too perceptive either.

If the people he freed don't wish to follow him then so be it. It's dickish, but that's what he'd do. He's since quit wondering about Vickory, assuming she can handle herself since she came here in the first place. But yeah, I guess, wander around to get a sense of the layout of the place, and find a way out, freeing people along the way.

Roaming the halls, Casseus finds more abandoned individuals, none of which appear native to the mountains, chaotic pluckings from the multiverse in various dying, or horrible mistreated states that would need serious dedicated medical or priestly attentions. The occasional animated skeleton or zombie, though few and far between.

Any written material of worth is not in Common, probably requires Read Magic or the like, and no sense of organized layout to the place either. It does, however, after a tour match with the bits he'd seen back in the mission room pre-portal leaping.

Suddenly, behind him, a voice speaks, completely sexless and lacking any emotion or tone. It almost sounds bored.

"Multi-query; What is addressed designation of Outsider entity before this One. Purpose of presence in current physical location. Allow for non-invasive scan of surface thoughts for expedited analysis. End multi-query."

The being from which the voice spoke floats without any visible power, two feet off he ground. It is completely white, save for the edges of its various surfaces which are grey, with light sky blue tentacles jutting out from its top and bottom which wave and curl, in a rhythmic fashion. The body of this being is a perfect octahedral, with each edge a two feet in length. It's basically small sized. No face. No visible eyes or features.

SIM Room 3

Tryko'Sam spots Vickory approach and pass out some bags, seeing it ignored by Jeran now wolf.

"Get close, this gate will be two way-- if something tries to get through it, as you move in, I'll shut it, but you'll be dropping down in the middle from above. People tend not to look up. Go figure."

That said, and presuming they gather together a bit more, the floor in front of their feet of Casseus, Jeran and Vickory starts to open up to another location-- the summoning room.

Unless they actively move out of the way, there will soon be nothing to stand on, as they will be in the air and gravity pulling them down. The option to 'leap on in' is viable, before the portal's edge gets to them, so they can have their own motion versus merely uncontrolled falling.

-----

Cultist Kill Team:

Vickory, please list what's in the bags when you post next. Thanks.

You guys welcome to have a free surprise round of action-- however, all I request is, do NOT assume your actions are successful, against any of the NPCs here, unless informed of such. We'll go with the cinematic fight, you posting your actions/reactions to what I post, and I'll do similar with the NPCs you choose to assault/attack.

Please be sure to track your own resources, spells used, etc. And above all else, list what spells you have on you prior to leaping in. I think Vickory's the only one with Tongues at this time.

For the record, the room is a vast expanse, let's say, one football field circle, with four central massive pillars, and then another row of eight in circles, holding up the ceiling, though anyone immediately would realize they aren't needed, as the dome of this roof is the means by which it stays up, carved out of the very stone the floor and pillars are made of. You are indoors, underground, if that matters, and the only way out of this room you can see, before the portal shuts above you, are the two massive doors mentioned previously, which were mentioned leading out to hallways on opposite sides.

Four Major Summoners, Eight disciples per Major, total of thirty-six humanoid beings in the room from prior determination. The room itself has numerous shadowy sections and mostly lit by braziers and torch sources. Could be easy to sneak away, given some pillars and shadowy area. Stone floor, smoothed out, ceiling is some twenty to thirty feet high.

Any questions, feel free to PM, or Discussion post it. Warning in advance, I'm going to be out tonight after 4pm Pacific, until late, so apologies for slow down on my part.

2) That roll if he maintained it, would get him 3d6 gp/day. In time, he'd draw attention from distant patrons, or even from extraplanar beings.

That's just rolling a 30, btw on 2) above.

Now, I get it, he's a teacher, its within his rights, but he completely refused to talk OOC with David and I about, thus pretty much forcing our PCs to do what he wanted, regardless of what we ourselves wanted.

Its kinda taken me out of having any desire to continue this entire scene at this point.

Maybe you could roleplay out your apathy, due to Royston's actions, with the other Teacher present-- and express your distaste IC?

Radical other Thoughts:

Venting your RAGE at the complete and utter removal of your Freedom by that emotionless husk of a 'professor', going completely against all you stood for (and also proving to be stronger/more powerful than yourself) which could also, ICly, be a rude shock to Ace's self-image. Thoughtful for that moment before being distracted by the question about music, though if he's really paying attention, he might notice a slight deepening of the scarlet...

Grinning quite a bit and looking at her while she talks, he does notice her blush with a smirk, though says nothing to listen to the rest of her comments.

In the end, he grins, leans only a bit forward saying, "Oh yeah-- chatty, and buggery, all wrapped up in one. Or, wait, buggery is -- yeah, not that. Something akin to that, but not /that/."

He smiles a bit more, then gives her a 'look', saying in a deeper voice and sort of presence that his glib earlier manner didn't suggest he had, "I /love/ using my mouth... it's /always/ a pleasure." This is the sort of look that might make some ladies (or guys) weak in the knees and swooning. Massive insinuations there, with no chance to fail getting the 'secret message'.

Then, sitting back after, he adds casually, "What's wrong with talking? Nothing. We're just moving the air around and sharing thoughts, right? Expressing ourselves to one another, while passing through reality and time, less alone than some others out there. I love it. Sometimes people don't quite grasp how simple a gesture like that can be for someone. Helps me not thinking about s$@* too-- thankfully the mind job that I got recently lacks some nasty memories, but, I'm sure I'll get new ones soon enough."

"Well, there's two ways to describe this-- the technical terms and what our culture whipped up to explain it, which might seem silly, but that is how things were with the fairly new science and what not."

She considers Vare for a few moments, then says, "In short, I created simulations, or duplications of reality; energy, force, light and a few other fundamental bits of creation as we know it. Now, they existed for a duration, my concentration was required often, initially-- the key though, was once someone actually realized their existence, they tended to fade for the individual. So, they were hallucinations, yet, recordable, intractable, real-- as much as that dead cat was, when observed in one manner. State of mind, we deduced, that field of science was so young and unproven in many ways, it was akin to just going with your best guess, or opening a comic book up and saying, 'It's like this.'. In our casual terms, I basically created simulacrums, quite vivid and realistic, that were often impossible to dismiss as fake without being abnormal. I did great with birthday parties, and such-- but, again, other stories. These abilities, apparently, were passed down from my father, my birth father. Coupled with this, was an untrained, initially, form of mentalism-- a telepathy, of sorts? Or quasi-mind control, that was more of a sympathetic connectivity, or ties, with any other living mind nearby. Being a second generation super powered being, born of two first wave super powered beings, it appeared the capacity was carried and enhanced from the parents. When I actually fought and helped capture my Father a few times, he was clearly not as powerful, but definitely more experienced and skilled. I'd argue that towards the end of my efforts, I did reach a state of very potent and experienced, but we all speculated there were vast potentials none of us were tapping into. Basically-- I was a veteran and often times people would not want to fight simply due my reputation." She beams with a bit of pride at that. "Plus our ... odd code of conduct, between members of our super community."

With a brief smile, she then says, "I rather did enjoy the superhero scene-- we were the rock stars, a type of musicians of a genre type, of our time. Fan clubs, and adored by the public when we weren't terrifying them with the occasionally new eruption or psychological break down by one of our fellow abnormal. Highs and lows."

Then looking back to Vare, she too seems concerned. "Is it a fragment, Wizard Vare, or something else?"

Darkness, she had dealt with before, and with a few incantations and a gesture, illumination formed through out the room, as dancing flames threw their brilliance out and about. No warmth, but light.

Via the Collective, Anahita thinks, ::I would suggest, to be safe, we post some guards near the entrances, to be on alert. If a scouting group returns, or what have you. Does it appear to anyone else that there is a possible threat, or do we know that the number slain were in fact, all that were here? Thoughts? You are all collectively-- quiet, and it is disconcerting the lack of activity.::

Looking back at the newer person, who she'd just spoken with, Anahita fixed her gaze upon him again and asks, "Excuse me, sir. If you have any skill with gathering and assuring people of their well being, may I impose upon you to usher these people's states of mind towards calmness, with the assurance that soon they will be returned to their village if they so choose? It would be most helpful, I feel."

She lingered on his face for a few moments, seeming to dwell on something she sees, or perhaps hears. It might seem odd, but she's certainly not been your average desert dweller thus far. Calm, too, nearly stoic expression and manner.

While waiting on his response, she does occasionally peer around as if seeing or hearing something no one else does.

Vai says, gesturing in a cutting motion, just a little ferociously. Her passion becoming unbridled in that moment as the shy, demure girl slips away to be replaced with this woman so fierce in her convictions.

And then it slowly receeds, with the dragon girl taking deep breaths, regaining her self-control. "Maybe there's... a way to send her back to her own timeline or... something? Nature seeks a balance, that's one of the natural laws of the universe. I mean, look at diffusion - perfect example."

Looking back at Vai, Anahita says plainly, "See, that is the aggression I speak of. I am not doubting you or your resolve, yet you took my words to say that, why? Do you have any reason to doubt I am anything but a companion of this school, which you are a member of? What reason would I have to be against you? This Champion thing? I assure you-- last reason in the world to be a foe of anyone."

She says that with hands spread out, looking at Vai with a frown while speaking, though clearly not insulted as much as, firm in her manner.

"Who do you know that might speak properly to this diffusion as it applies to someone who does not naturally belong /here/? How can that process be reversed? Is it something worth investigating? And most importantly, can it, without the snubbing that occurred before, occurring again?"

She had decided after the conversation with Fei and Vare, that finding this crater Fei spoke of, and wanting help with, would be a wise place to study for preparing.

Doing so in the past had helped her much, so it made sense to repeat the tradition again. Without much effort, she moved without taking a step, or rather, each 'step' was another jaunt via the Champion teleport, making travel a thing of thought, and not action. She didn't notice.

Jivana's constant conversation with her-- or merely her constant steam of sharing, was becoming familiar, not as much a distraction, as much as another sense, she was gathering. Quite similar to maintaining a detection spell of any sort with duration while walking and-- well, not so much walking.

Then, in the sky, the silvery fire glow of something aflame. Reflecting on the hue and coloration, the still huge fire bear shaped elemental form of Anahita moved off, to find a vantage point, and eventually gaze upon where it landed before the flames ended.

It was the intriguing Champion of Courage, carrying someone-- another Champion, and two more followed suit in their own manner. She took a few moments to dwell on this, perhaps a good hundred or more yards away in the night, before taking a step closer.

-----

The shape of a thirty two foot tall, fire bear, appears behind Fei, some twenty feet or so away, just as Fei finished his bow to the other two. It's eyes took in the scene quickly in the dark, night being no hindrance, and then asked, "Fei, Champion of Courage, is this a private affair, or am I not interrupting?"

The bear of fire, now of dark red hues and dark orange, oddly enough not illuminating the area and rather silent save for the speech of a young girl's, Anahita's if memory serves anyone who'd spoken to her previously, inquires of the monk with Keme.

After a moment of study, Anahita asks simply, "Why is this being injured and not tended too?" Her tone and manner merely suggest curiosity, nothing more.

I just want to put out there, two things--

1) If this magical item (the mask) is Renkai's primary PC 'power', or a major component of his PC's storyline and reveal, you're effectively taking away his secrets (potentially) simply because he put himself in a situation RP wise without even rolling for it (i.e. unconscious, etc.)

2) You are /taking/ someone's property away and researching it. Any competent magical research/student/user would realize that magical items (especially high end ones) are attuned to a specific user, 24 hour thing, and by taking it away and researching it, you're a) borrowing it without consent, and b) perhaps ruining that attuning.

Ask before you do this with the player-- that's my suggestion.

Jaiye nods. "Yeah I can wait. It's not like I have somewhere to be in a hurry after all. Thanks. Again."

There is a nod and a quick hug, and Anahita says, "I shall return immediately-- you must think of twenty five words or less to express to Ehos, which I will send for you. Returning briefly, I assure you."

Anahita literally vanishes for ..well, three to six seconds, and then reappears. She appears to be completely the same, just the disappearing act, without sound or indication of doing so.

Upon returning, she smiles and asks, "Well? I am ready to cast this. He will hear it, though I do not expect him to reply, due to his silence issues."

There's a warm smile on Anahita's face when she finishes, glancing off briefly to where the arrows had pointed before at Vare, then back to Jaiye.

"Oh I'm sure we'll meet again at some point, if you're going to take off. As far as study plans... well. I like to learn a little of everything, you never know what will come in handy. Maybe I'll try my hand at becoming a powerful wizard." he finishes with though last words said in a deep(er) voice with a somewhat 'big arms' display, his arms held above his head as though he were about to call down some mighty spell. He laughs easily afterwards at his little joke.

"I might go down to the town and see if I can help in some way, but not before I finish lunch." he says with a friendly smile, genial and happy at that moment, the evil-looking red eyes aren't moving around the room or studying anything, other than his plate.

"Sounds like a plan, there, Repp. You be cool. From what I heard, there's a team in town handling that, just in case. I'm gonna go ...roam, feeling like stretching my mind, now that the body's done it's leg work."

With that, Tryko'Sam waves and walks off, heading for his personal SIM room to keep busy with.

I'm probably out most of the day tomorrow-- til the evening, Pacific, so I don't keep you waiting longer, sorry for missing this post.

Tryko'Sam waves unconsciously as the smaller members of the Peace Expeditionary Force (PEF) ran off, taking the flying Zilla and the sky Hew.

"Heh, that's kind of cute-- in a way. In fact, this whole situation is kind of adorable."

Whether or not he's talking to Ryo or Kitty isn't clear, could be he's talking to himself aloud (most likely).

"Alrighty, sounds like we have fifteen minutes to prepare, kiss our last goodbyes and make off to resolve war between the deadly ninja clans. Food for the trip? Really? Just a ...lunch? This isn't going to be a week long excursion or something?"

>> [i]I remember reading a module like this once-- it never is short. Huh. Guess we'll see.[i] <<

On that note, he looks to Kitty and says, "I'll go wait at the front doors, right? Hour away from here is nothing, we could get there really quick.. just saying." He grins at the notion, waves and seems to head off adding, "Don't keep me waiting too long. I get impatient sometimes."

Off Tryko'Sam goes, heading for the front doors. Walking the halls, again.

But that's all sad and stuff. I don't think he would take it well to get pulled into a relationship so quickly and then get it dropped again exactly the same way. Anything less emotionally damaging?

Short list:

1) She discovers she loves females, and thanks you.
2) She goes blind, gets hit by a car, veggie Elf for the rest of her long elven life (yay! one with plants)
3) She gets turned into a tree, grows roots, finds peace, is watered.
4) Finds someone else that's not tragically, yet 'okay with it', to be freezing things for the rest of their lives, falls in love, happiness. One kid is named after you that has 'cat like features'.
5) She just fades from your memory-- poof, magic. No pain. Just happy thoughts.
6) Meteorite takes her out-- sudden, nothing to be done, move on.

You'll laugh, cry, it'll become a part of you. Five stages of life.

Or better yet! FROZE TO DEATH.

Midori Tsuyomi wrote:

"I'm... not entirely sure that would be appropriate." Midori says, sounding a little shocked. Honourifics maybe didn't mean much to people of other cultures, but the suggestion obvious disturbed Midori. "Senpai is a term of respect for an upperclassman. I would not want to be disrespectful." Midori finishes formally, with an apologetic bow.

"Blackscales-sensei is the Headmistress of the school for the younger children." she explains after straightening. "She has asked all of us to tell her before we leave the school grounds."

"As far as finding my parents... I don't know. I don't have any magic, and I haven't learned to track yet."

One thing Tryko'Sam may notice about Midori's manner is that she appears to scan the room - hallway, area, etc - occasionally, as if a little paranoid, or perhaps looking for hiding spots herself.

>> Wild, so she is like a Japanese person-- okay. <<

"Uh, alright, Midori-san, did I say that right? You can call me what you like, but officially-- I am called Tryko'Sam. One word, just a light pause in the middle there. It's my preference. No stress though, if you want to really go shorter on it. I'm not a fan of nicknames, sorta... plus my birth name is really boring and I'm not really into sharing it, cause, well, that'd be b-- well, no. Won't really matter, but forget it, I'm used to not sharing my real name."

That's right, he just rambled a bit.

"I'm very pleased to meet you, regardless, both of you. We should come up with code names-- I already gave you mine, and since it's a code name," he's grinning at the logic he's using here, "You don't need to add the senpai to it, we can assume you are not being disrespectful by honoring my wishes, see? how's that grab yah?"

Looking around then back, he asks, "Well, can you write them a letter, or call them-- er.. scratch that. Magic. Uh, can we find someone who'd know where they are? Time to do some leg work."

Rena, the Companion wrote:

"Ohhh, a rainstorm would be much better I think." Rena says while looking curiously around the room, the sauce having mostly dried during their return to the school and then subsequently their journey to the SIM room. Rena appears to be studying the grey lines, poking and prodding the smooth surface with her tail. "Is there some kind of illusion magic in this room which could duplicate those things?"

"Vare usually helps me to get clean, so I've never really had a bath before... what do you suggest? I like the rain, it's usually not wet enough and runs off my feathers... it's just when I immerse myself that it's an unpleasant feeling." she asks, still studying the blank room intently.

"From what I can tell-- this is super technology at work, and perhaps, some magic. I'm not quite sure who or what, but some female body robot, Rosa, gave me full access to this room to personalize and make scenarios with, to store into the data banks for future use. Okay-- hang tight."

With that, Tryko'Sam says, "SIM Mind, Tryko'Sam accessing SIM Room personal, prepare for new parameters. Please scan and recognize secondary participant, keyname, Rena. Store Rena details for future participation."

There's a bit of a shift in the lighting, minute, but noticeable and then a disembodied voice says, "Greetings Tryko'Sam. Rena Ident and data collected and recorded for future participation. What will we be working on today?"

Grinning at Rena, Tryko'Sam then says, "We're looking for any prior thunderstorm, or heavy rain scenarios. Grid size, 3 dimensional, let's go with 500 meters in all directions, flat plains, no other life save flora, and ... well, temperate biome. Grass half meter height, various trees sparsely placed, objective is primarily to simulate thunderstorm setting and downpour of rain-- no hail, no lightning events, Rena here wants to take a natural shower. Please negate all interaction of events from my person, and let her rip. Let's have it build up slowly, and maintain rain for approximately 5 minutes, without flooding or other potential natural events. Store and execute, thank you."

The disembodied voice says, "Activating, Thunderstorm setting, 001-TS. Rena, please prepare for thunderstorm in ... 3... 2... 1..."

With that, the white and grid are gone-- grass, randomly half a meter in height grows up and out of the ground, the space spreads out a good 500 or more meters (it appears), and the sky blurs out as dark clouds roll in. Thunder can be heard, Tryko'Sam grins as the winds pick up a bit, not touching him, and Rena's subjected to ...well, a thunderstorm.

The rain falls quickly, cool and, obviously wet. He merely stands there and smiling adds, "If you wanted, we could just make a huge bath tub for you, but not sure you can swim with the wings-- I'm assuming you don't use those to fly with, huh?"

There are no other life forms, just the 'plants' and the two individuals in the room.

Would you like her to be from Agartha or from off world? Knowing what culture to place her in will go a long ways towards fleshing out her background.

If from Agartha perhaps she could be from the city-state of Lemnos, a bustling port with a lively black market and competing thieves guilds.

Note to current players, I'm just making this s#$# up as I go. This place hasn't been mentioned before. I can flesh it out more if needed.

I both approve of your expression of emotions, Lynora, and creative efforts.

Hat tip!

"Vare is a wizard, he might be able to help if someone did cast a spell on you. He's not a priest, but he can read magical auras quite well." Rena offers modestly, flicking her tail. "I'm not a teacher though, I prefer just to watch and listen."

"Thank you." she says suddenly, after a few more moments of deep thought, as they go down the hill to the increasingly bustling city.

Walking along, Tryko'Sam asks, "You're welcome, mo problem, not sure what for. So you can eat, right? Or rather, do you eat stuff like we do? Or do you need a bunny or something? Glad to hear you like to people watch, that's my favorite past time too, unless there's something to be done to help folks."

He'll keep walking along with Rena, looking ahead as they walk down the slope and see the town up ahead in the distance, not too far off, through the winding path and what not.

"Hey-- for the next six or so seconds, I need you to trust me and keep moving in a straight direction, but shut your eyes, okay? After all, evening's only going to last so long..." He grins when saying that, seeming pretty gleeful at the suggestion.

Rena, the Companion wrote:

If Rena had eyebrows she would've raised one at the casual use of the expletive, but as she did not have eyebrows, her head merely comes up slightly in shock.

"Mostly I just bother my friend for fun, or talk with him. He's... occupied right now though. We have only been at Avalon for a few days ourselves... I do not think the town would go over well, friend Tryko'Sam." She curls her tail around and places the tip beneath her chin, looking thoughtful for a moment.

"What is it that you like to do for fun? Before you came to Avalon." the strange serpent creature asks, her head still resting on her tail and examining the young man in front of her. Her voice lilts ever so slightly on the word you, as if she were attempting to be playful, rather than entirely serious.

It should be obvious that Tryko'Sam doesn't understand the basics of long snake like creature expressions at his use of an expletive, so after her head goes up, and she asks her question, he thinks.

"I don't remember-- I like swimming, I think. Warm water is good. I suppose roaming around and exploring? Talking doesn't hurt. Oh, I ..." He looks thoughtful for a moment then shakes his head. "Can't remember right now. It'll come back to me though, always does at one point. Any nice vistas around here? I remember hiking.. or something. Yeah, getting to the tops of mountains, looking around. That sort of s#!+."

He grins.
