Seeing Sadie start to go to work on the machine, Vai glances back around at the group. She then focuses on the starcasters, punching in various settings. "Alright, the 'casters can bring me back right to here."
"I'm.. going to go and ask Tryko'Sam for his help. He's the best option we have right now. I hope I'm not intruding on anything. I'll be right back."
With that, and a small burst of light in the gloom, Vai is gone.
Unfortunately, she must have forgotten that she was on the one illuminating the room, which proceeds to plunge into the deep darkness of the underground, with the ghostly form of Jan providing a small bit of illumination, barely anything.
Arthur Barren

As Arthur did his laps around the school one thought echoed in his head why were the good ones always taken he realizes it's an extremely selfish thought, but that he realized it did not immiedietly banish the thought away, and so he flew.
Flying had allways been an activity wherein he could clear his head, where the earthly concerns no longer mattered, ever since he finally got the flight suit to work, and even before then on the rare occasions he could use a flying broom or magic carpet. For some reason it wasn't working very well this time.
His mind kept going back to Melody and Raelle, no matter how often he tried to banish the thought with some airel acrobatics or going over his designs.
you could always try steeling the girls away from them, it wouldn't be the first time,
no I couldn't do that, I respect Mels and Raelle way too much for that, and besides, Ardiente's a good guy
ooh? And what about renkai? Is he a good guy
"Gaaaaaaaaah" Arthur shouts and does at triple backflip trying to clear his head
just to be clear, Arthur is not possessed, he's just arguing with himself

Darkness, she had dealt with before, and with a few incantations and a gesture, illumination formed through out the room, as dancing flames threw their brilliance out and about. No warmth, but light.
Via the Collective, Anahita thinks, ::I would suggest, to be safe, we post some guards near the entrances, to be on alert. If a scouting group returns, or what have you. Does it appear to anyone else that there is a possible threat, or do we know that the number slain were in fact, all that were here? Thoughts? You are all collectively-- quiet, and it is disconcerting the lack of activity.::
Looking back at the newer person, who she'd just spoken with, Anahita fixed her gaze upon him again and asks, "Excuse me, sir. If you have any skill with gathering and assuring people of their well being, may I impose upon you to usher these people's states of mind towards calmness, with the assurance that soon they will be returned to their village if they so choose? It would be most helpful, I feel."
She lingered on his face for a few moments, seeming to dwell on something she sees, or perhaps hears. It might seem odd, but she's certainly not been your average desert dweller thus far. Calm, too, nearly stoic expression and manner.
While waiting on his response, she does occasionally peer around as if seeing or hearing something no one else does.
Monkeygod, that's towards your guy, in case. Fairly sure we didn't swap names yet.

The question of his knowledge of magic seemed to stoke the flames within him to make them even hotter. "Cowards use magic," he said, remembering the words of his tribe's eldest member and most decorated warrior. "Most weaklings who can't wield weapons of the strong fall back on it. They make things appear out of thin air to trick people, set fires to homes, and dishonor the dead by removing them from graves."As he grew angrier, Kodjack's eyes seemed to start glowing a faint red hue, before he shook his head, realizing that he had to keep himself in check if he was going to get the help he needed so desperately. "Magic is...was frowned upon in my tribe," he then explained. "I only know what I've been told by the elders who survived magic. Not many did. I'm the only one who has now."
"And what of the magic that heals? That brings the dead back to life, not as undead but as if they'd never died?" He asks. "The kind that protects people, or helps build wondrous new things?"
"I can understand your viewpoint. It must seem incredibly easy to say a few funny words and wiggle your fingers and conjure ferocious beasts or waves of fire, especially compared to the training it takes to wield weapons and wear armor properly, but did you know it can take just as long to learn spellcasting as it can mundane warfare, if not longer? That more die trying to learn it? Magic is like a sword. Not good or evil, but can used for either."

She shrugged. "I had a lot of time to myself in the tower. Lots of chances to think about things. I figured I could either become obsessed with revenge or I could try for being happy instead. Happy sounded like much more fun."
"Hmm....things you should know about firebirds....well, we're vulnerable to cold for one thing. It hurts us. Kind of like how fire burns humans, cold damages us. And fire heals us. That's why I curled up in the fireplace this morning....my muscles were sore and fire makes everything better. Ummm....and if I'm not sick or injured, then fire is extremely pleasurable. It feels pretty much as good as sex. Actually, I'm pretty sure that a lot of firebirds use fire to make sex feel even better...at least if I'm piecing together stuff I overheard the servants gossiping about correctly. Oh, and I can't drink water or eat too much water based food. It would make me sick. I need to drink oils and eat charred food. A lot of firebirds have fire magic of some kind. And music is really important to them. But I can't make fire, and I'm tone deaf. So I'm not so typical in that regard. I can't think of anything else you might need to...
"I know a bunch of scientist back where I came from prior to here, who would give their left arm to chat with you, or more. So, fire, right? We're not talking center of stars hot, are we? I can dig that. Good to know."
Grinning, Tryko'Sam gets comfortable and waits for Asha to take a seat as well, once a place to sit is located properly.
"I'm not hungry, but if you want some oils and carbon, by all means, go nuts. I like the hoody, by the way. Pink, very girly."
Grinning further at that, he sits back and gets into leisure mode scanning the cafeteria.
"Kinda quiet, but... not a bad thing."

"Aside from you being amazing?" he says sleepily, still absently stroking her arms. His body was in a state of confusion, between desperately needing sleep and very much wanting to stay awake. "You've done a lot for me. You've supported me so much in the past few days."It was kinda like he was floating in his a dream with her there, and the state his mind was in. He kissed the top of her head absently, and pulled the blankets up and around them both.
"Mmm. Well, you've been there for me and supported me too. So I think we're pretty even there," she said, feeling sleepy herself now. "That's one of the things I like about you. You let me be an equal, not always trying to protect me. Not that you wouldn't protect me. But you don't try to when it's not necessary. It means a lot to me." She yawned. Maybe it would be alright if she closed her eyes for just a minute.

Each hit does 5d6 so max damage is 30. So she's not exactly going to be smashing it quickly.

After the discussion on the use of magic. Lang goes back down the steps to the landing platform.
he starts to set up camp.
We will camp here tonight, there are no restrictions of magic use here nor in the village down that trail over there. There is food available in the village, I would recommend the honey, several of the villagers go to great pains to harvest it during the summer months. I do mean pains. referring to bee stings.
The food is free , It is a gift of the villagers, but please, try not to over indulge winter is coming and they will need food to last for themselves as well. Oh, and there is no fish available
Lang works on setting up camp, as he explains things so everyone understands.
When we are finished, I will guide those that want to, through the shrine.

>> So, no real social structure I can determine, this school's standing out, there's various structures on the planet, and all in all, magic's a predominant thing, save for the tech here and mention of space flight. What an odd universe to say the least. This'll be entertaining. <<
He looked down at his hand for a moment, bending fingers a few times, then looked back up and around, seeing if anything else in the Cafeteria stood out.

Just as one blonde hurries off to get food, she's replaced by another. Vai appears in front of Tryko'Sam in a burst of light, glancing around to double-check where she was before looking at him. She appears to be holding a pair of grapefruit sized metal devices, and looks to Tryko'Sam. She seems to be a bit ruffled, her clothing slightly bloodied, and she's wearing her sword at her hip as she did the previous day, when she and Tryko'Sam had gone into town.
"Hey. Uh... sorry to barge in like this, but I could really use your help with something. You can make portals, right?" she asks in something of a rush, apparently whatever typical shyness Vai possesses is not coming into play right at this moment, as she looks right into Tryko'Sam's eyes as she asks the question.

::I don't know if there's much point in speculating about it Jaiye. If she is from a different timeline or whatever, then it might not even be something you did, and she's just taking revenge about twenty steps too far.:: Ehos adds, still poking at his food, not really feeling all that hungry.

Tryko'Sam doesn't appear /too/ surprised, but he does appear quite alert the instant there's light and Vai appears.
>> Whoa. Teleporter. << He quickly assesses, and then looks her over before making the eye contact while she speaks.
"Uh, yeah-- you need to move things, I can help. But I'm not usually public about that. Mum's the word and all, though, might be wrong planet to do that on now. What's going on?" He gives an up nod towards her bloody outfit.
"You need to hide some bodies?" He grins charmingly at that.
| Jiminy, Prankster of the Future |
When the group arrives back in Kuros with the train they find a very different scene from when they left. There are people collecting the bodies from the streets and bringing them to the town hall. Others, looking for missing loved ones, are being organized into lines so that lists of the missing can be made to compare with lists of the dead. Elsewhere there are people organizing healers for the sick and injured. Every intact temple in the town has been converted into a makeshift hospital. And there are supplies and hot meals being passed out for those who are in need. At the center of all of it, Jiminy and Dennis have been working non-stop to bring order back to Kuros.

"Once everything is stowed away, we can head outside. Skydiving is hard with a ceiling."
Cameron follows with a slight, eager smile. This was gonna be fun!

"is there anything more we can do to help?" Dave asks
"We'd appreciate any help with healing. Or with moving the bodies from the train to the makeshift morgue. We're trying to get everyone sorted out so we can identify the dead. For that matter anyone who can cast speak with dead would be much appreciated. It makes it a lot easier to identify the ones who aren't easily recognizable anymore."

Tybalt walks the two of them outside onto the lawn. Jericho has climbed down into his shirt and seemingly disappeared.
"OK. We're remaining inside the wards. Speaking from personal experience, it's best to be inside them if you hit the ground. Not that there's much of a chance to, but better safe than sorry. I haven't done a whole lot more than floating since I last ate, so we should be able to go for a while."
As he talks he moves his hands about. He stops for a moment to wrap his measuring tape around his rounded belly, looking at it and putting it away.
"Now. Here's what's going to happen. Each of you give me one of your hands and then you two link your other ones. I'm going to blink us up. It'll be a couple blinks to get us up to full height. When we get up there, spread out to arms length so we can get some drag and not fall so fast. When we get close to the ground, I'll blink us again, but in the same place, facing us the other way. Our momentum will carry us up, when we crest, I'll take us back up again. Just give me a shout if you need to land. It'll take a little bit to slow us down after. That's normal. OK. Ready?"
He pulls his goggles over his eyes and takes both of their hands, assuming they follow directions.
"Here we go."
There's a blip of light and you all appear just over a thousand feet in the air. You begin to feel gravity take you before another blip happens and you feel that weightlessness again for another moment. This happens several times before you begin to actually fall. When you do, the wind rushes past you and you fall in a slow turn, in a triangle formation. Once you near the ground, about 30 feet before it, you begin the same weightless climb in steps you started with.
Tybalt gets really into it, laughing and yelling, being able to forget about everything for a few minutes and just have fun with his friends.

Tyrrin's mastery of illusion magic helped her craft a scene - Jiminy collapsed a few moments after the arrow had struck him, and folks were panicking around him. Her own figure in the illusion had turned to scan the direction from where the arrow had come, but Tyrrin herself was moving to Jiminy's side.
It was important for the assassin to think he'd succeeded, or there would be more arrows.

"I don't know about magic that heals, but that's exactly what I mean about dishonoring the dead," Kodjack said between his teeth in response to the headmaster's rebuttal. "True warriors do not fear death, and are honored in death after fearsome battles with peaceful sleep. To disturb that sleep is to dishonor them and all they died for."
Kodjack then looked down at the floor and pinched his nose as he grunted, obviously not ready to accept what the headmaster said about spellcasters, though he also obviously knew that he was at the disadvantage, seeking to get smarter in a place filled with magic and its users, unable to escape it if he were to get revenge. Even he could figure that out. "Just...just tell me what to do," he then groaned, having to force the words out. He was very afraid that he would have to become a coward to beat a coward, and that was something he was certainly hoping to avoid.
