"Well, I think in this case it is better to overreact rather than to underreact. If it's as bad as your instincts say, we'd be fools to leave it be, right?" Rena says encouragingly, laying her tail across his shoulders in a comforting gesture. After Vai takes off and is gone flying around, Rena says more softly. "You don't have to apologize you know. We're here to help you. Don't worry about wasting our time or anything., alright? I'm your friend after all."
As Vai took up and off into the air, Tryko'Sam nodded without replying to affirm the five minutes or so.
Looking back to Rena, while still holding the small bit of metal, he says, "It's just annoying, perhaps this thing knew, and did the damage intentionally to kill my memories. Either way, at this point, it's a cat and mouse game. Not my preference."
Oddly enough, depending on Rena's attention and skills, Tryko'Sam might say he's annoyed, but he certainly isn't displaying it-- cool and collected.
"You know, thinking about it as well? maybe I need to join the younger kid school and re-learn things too. Then again, from what I heard, maybe there's a school for old farts that need to learn too." He grins at Rena, seemingly relaxed and back to his non-serious mode now.
"It's a shame that when I got up from my injury I didn't think to check on /why/ I was injured suddenly for no reason. Guess I was distracted by various things-- like that little girl or what not."

The figure of Vai, some two hundred feet overhead, conducts her search, circling around the city...Throw me a few Perception checks, Vai. Say three. You're peering around for 5 minutes, right?
Yup.
Perception: 1d20+11
Perception: 1d20+11
Perception: 1d20+11
Initially, Vai /thought/ she spots something-- but there's distance and such, and then-- for the remainder of her peering around, the only transmissions spotted are those that the city appear to be producing.
Imagination, excitement, the eagerness to hunt and fight more, it's not immediately clear, but what is clear, no more burst transmissions at this time similar to what she saw before.
The only radio waves or the like, perhaps mostly from the factories, where skimmers and such are made, or the 'space port' mentioned a while ago (if that), appear to be standard. Depending on technology levels, it might even be impossible to determine just how many unique signals there are now flying in the air, versus underground in a sewer where none 'should' be.
Elusive quarry, or thankfully, the only one, now destroyed.

"Which she has already done - though you both seem to have risen above that. You are doing very well thus far. Are you sure you actually require Ryo and I's assistance? You seem capable enough already - simply treat this like a hunt Jaiye. I suspect you will be forced to bait this woman out of whatever hole she lurks, but beyond that, all three of you seem competant and able to take this on. Ryo and I were just informed of a much larger threat - one that affects the whole planet - and unfortunately I must direct my Sight towards that problem, else I would offer more of my abilities. The best we can do is guide you." Denulia says calmly, not allowing any emotion on this entire matter to dispaly. "I am surprised you have not enlisted Tyrrin's aid in this matter... are you so ashamed Ehos?"
The look on Ehos' face is pretty clear - yes, he is that ashamed.
"Thank you, High Seer," she said, nodding her head in respect. "Sometimes the hardest part of solving a problem is reframing it so that it can be broken down into manageable parts."
"Um, actually we can't ask Tyrrin at the moment. She's not here. She went on a field trip with a group of students looking for some sort of book to help one of the students. Embarrassment aside, while we can ask her for help when she gets back, in the meantime we can't afford to delay pursuit of this person until she gets back."

"I'm not reckless though! I am simple seeking more alchemical knowledge through experiments."
"Judging by the number of explosions that occur in the alchemy lab on a daily basis these are not mutually exclusive concepts," she said with a mischievous smile, clearly teasing him.

"So you're saying you can help with that. . . . Thing? All you magic people up at your castle on the hill? With all that's been going on that gets it's way here I'm not sure you can handle those you have. Let alone more. All those kids coming down here and causing trouble for all of us."
A small girl peeks out from behind her with the dog in question in her arms.

"Well, I'm glad you didn't run. Nightmares infuse my body now. Don't worry, it's under control... I think."

"I apologize for that. We certainly do our best to contain any trouble that they get into to the school itself where the wards are there to protect them and others. Unfortunately sometimes things go wrong. And my understanding was that a team from the school showed up to contain the situation and help the injured within moments. Still, it's a valid concern. Working with children with special abilities is an extremely challenging thing and finding teachers willing and able to take up that challenge is a neverending quest for us. We are pretty much always in need of more of them. But it is certainly better than the alternative which was nothing. And for every troublemaker, there are also many students up there willing and able to lend a hand to help when needed. Sometimes the troublemakers become those students with a little patience and guidance."

"It's not that fine a line. Especially in a case like this. Gee, the last people who did this died horribly and caused the deaths of several other students and teachers...I know, let's try it too....it can't go that badly a second time. Bloody morons, the lot of them. Why can't they ever be trying to summon something nice? Why does it always have to be demons?"
"Well...demons are kinda bad ass."
He shrugs"Mortals get some kind of kick being able to control outsiders. It will probably always be that way, till one guys summons an elder god or something and ends existence...stupid is as stupid does."

"I'll have you know several students chose to study alchemical bombs instead of the healing paste I did."
Didn't you already figure out how to make the alchemical bombs?" ;P

With just enough time to cast a few spells, the remorhaz turns the corner and screams as it spots the group, it's spines flaring red-hot.
Could someone please sum up for me where we are, thanks? Last I knew the group was standing around debating where to go next and we found out that there had been a remorhaz scouting the hallway that was blocked by Tyrrin's spells.

They found an 'empty' area on the map that made no sense, given it's size and lcation, and are looking for a way into that area. They left the walled off area.

"Hold your weapons a moment! Hostile actions will break my spell!" Tyrrin cries as she intones a few arcane words the remorahz is envelopped in a brilliant rainbow pattern of colours.
Will Save DC21 or be fascinated. If it fails the save, Tyrrin will lead it away from the party, down a hallway away from where it came. The spell in effect is Rainbow Pattern, and each creature fascinated counts as 8HD lower than it's true HD for the purpose of this spell (thanks to Awesome Display).

Technically, Michael can't use bombs, since his archetype replaces them. Now I have to supersize some alchemist's fires though...
"Yes, but that isn't the point, is it?"
"I believe the point is this: Michael here is obviously a capable young man, and it is his choice if he wants to risk life and limb to advance his interests. Is that not right, Tanaka-senpai?"

"Yes, but that isn't the point, is it?"
"Yes, of course it's his choice," she said sweetly. "Which is why he should choose very very carefully which risks are worth exactly how much of life and limb." Somehow this tone is more frightening than when she had been scolding him.

"So if I let her attend your crazy school you can promise me she'll be safe?"
"I can promise you that we will do everything in our power to keep her safe, that if she is injured or sick she will receive prompt treatment in our infirmary which uses advanced medical technology as well as divine magics which are always available to our students for free, that if through any action of her own or others she is placed in a dangerous situation we will make every effort to save her, and that she will receive a quality education as well as learning how to control her abilities in an environment where she won't hurt herself or others during the learning process, all free of charge to you. I cannot promise perfect safety. It doesn't exist. Not anywhere. Life comes with a certain degree of risk."
Ephebe
"And if she attends how often will I see her?"
That probably wasn't as comforting to me as she might have expected. . .
The small dog jumps from her arms and runs to the familiar sign of Vare. It paws at his legs and wags its tail much like a real dog.
"Well, I suppose that depends on you. Avalon is a boarding school. While it would be possible for your daughter to attend it as a day school it would certainly limit her social time with friends. My recommendation would be that you allow her to stay at the school during the week. She can come home on weekends if you would like. Or not if there is some reason that won't work. And you can come and see her there any time you like."
"If you don't wish to send her to Avalon, or think she's still too young, well, we'll respect that. It's an invitation, not a demand."

She kneels down and looks the girl in the eyes.
"Honey, I know this is a very important decision to make at your age. You can see me and your brother whenever you want. You know I want what's best for you and this is very hard for both of us, but . . . . Would you like to go to the school?" She smiles and throws her arms around her neck.
"Yes!"
They hug there for a moment before she stands.
"Should she start after the weekend?"
Dom Waverider
"Taron, Morrivan mentioned that you used to be in a band. What band were you in. Where you the lead singer?" He asks wondering why he hasn't seen her/him play.

"Yes, that would be best," Ephebe said, smiling at the girl's enthusiasm. "If you would like, you can come to the school tomorrow to have a tour so she'll know what to expect on Monday, and take care of the enrollment paperwork...or we can take care of that on Monday if that works better for you. She'll be in Mrs. del Sol's class I think."

Keme grinned. "I am in fact excellent at poker, though I rarely get the chance to prove it. For some reason people seem to think gambling with a kitsune is a bad idea," he said with a faux injured sigh.
Casseus Rex
"Hmm, I bet they do. I have a game I play with some vrock buddies I summon up about once a month. You're welcome to join if you want. Cigar?" He says, opening the box and taking one out for himself.

"It's a shame that when I got up from my injury I didn't think to check on /why/ I was injured suddenly for no reason. Guess I was distracted by various things-- like that little girl or what not."
"I didn't think to check on that either, I thought you had been hurt, but then I was so relieved that you were alright I didn't even think of the why. Maybe if I had known how fast you healed I might have thought about it differently." Rena scolds her friend slightly, though obviously for not other reason than she's concerned at that moment. "Well... the thing I'm most worried about is writing. I can read... but I've never written anything in my life."
"Wouldn't it have to know... where in your brain to attack? That's.... really strange. How could it know that?"

"Yeah, I sure as heck wasn't thinking clearly that night either. With all the passing out in Avalon earlier in the halls and such, now this? I just hope we've gotten the only one and we can call it a day." While he sounds hopeful, it's clear he doesn't seem to consider it all over.
"I found a lake, if you wanted to wash quick-- we could duck into it fast, and come back-- then just dry off. Whatcha think?"
Grinning, it'd only been a few moments since Vai left, he waits to see what Rena says to that.
"Hopefully all this crap will -- well... we could get drenched quick too, but that might be rude for the alley, hang on." He seems to be waiting on something.
A few moments later he adds, "Okay, tropical storm, ready?" If she indicates she is, they are suddenly drenched in a downpour of some tropical storm standing there in the alley. He has his eyes closed and arms out to maximize the rain's effect. The rain itself falling no more than from ten feet off the ground above them both, nice and cool, but very strong.
Letting that happen for about two minutes, it ends as abruptly as it starts and he is wet, grinning and much, much cleaner-- as is Rena is she put the 'new' weather to use.
"I apologize for not sharing of what I can do earlier, I'm used to not letting on with just anyone. It's a classic way to paint a bull's eye on my head, back and ass. Hope you forgive me for that withholding there." Seems the cheerful potty mouthed Tryko'Sam was back in style now.
"As for the brain damage specifics, not sure-- maybe it knows human physiology? Maybe it plugged in while I was travelling? Who knows? I can help you learn to write-- well, English at least. The biggest key there is going to be finding you a way to handle tools. We'll work it out." He did seem really confident.
