Lang slowly comes to take a look at the map they found.
So where is our vent in question?
She unrolled the map and set it down on a study table.
"It's right here," she said, pointing. "You can see that it leads straight into this empty pocket of space, and nowhere else. There doesn't appear to be any other access to this space and it is noticeably absent on the other maps. If them temple is there, this is where you'll find it."
Lang studies the area intently and gradually his eyes light up at the discovery.

after they hit him with the spell, his antimagic levels drop, and his heart rate slows to near-fatal levels. The anti-magic production speeds up again, and after a few seconds he stabilizes again.
Aananda monitors carefully through this process to see what the effects to his body actually are.
This is the first time she's gotten to see what happens during his interaction with magic as opposed to just after.

adon's anti-magic actually obliterates magic on contact- not suppression, but utter, mutual destruction. Both seem to just stop existing.
"Alright, this stuff doesn't work the way I thought it did. I'm going to try something, but I don't want to try it on Adon directly since it might kill him outright. I need you to get a small blood sample and I'm going to see how it reacts to positive energy directly, not through the application of magic. It might feed it enough to where it will stop feeding off of Adon's life energy. And I already have the specs for how to splice that into his genetics if it works since this is what we did to stabilize Ephebe's genetic structure last year. I need you to move Adon out from under the scanner while we run the test."
She waited while the nurses followed her instructions and then observed the reaction carefully as the nanites started feeding positive energy to the blood sample.

She took a deep breath, surprised to find herself tearing up. "I knew what I was getting myself into," she said hoarsely. "I made my choices. I was okay with it. I was prepared for it. It's just records. It doesn't change the way my mother and grandfather rejected me. But...it means more than I was willing to admit. Seeing this...I didn't realize how much this would effect me."
"How do we even go about this? There's no government. Some of these people are still alive and they don't even know. Someone needs to tell them. Preferably before the sun goes boom. They deserve to know what's going on. You don't stop being a firebird with all of the history that goes with that just because you get abjured."
When Fieri began to tear up Ardiente was there, arm around her shoulder to help console her, though nothing more than a friendly arm and a shoulder if she wanted to cry outright... even if she was just as beautiful as Raelle. "Listen, Fieri. I... can't say I can relate exactly to you... but... well I know something of it, my own parents abjured me to protect us right before..." he shakes his head, trying to forget those last horrible moments before they were all taken. "You aren't alone, is what I mean. How many other firebirds are there without family? How many other firebirds yearn to talk to friends... family that they've left behind?"
With his arm still around her, he straightens and says "Government or no, I'm going to find them. I... was going to go with the Avatar to the Sun tomorrow... but I think this is more important. Can the High Seer help us locate them.. or at least tell us if they're even alive? I can fly for three days straight if necessary... but I can't get everywhere on Agartha by myself."

"Well, I don't think anyone sane wants to fight the Empire. But I will fight to protect those I love."

"If the Headmaster can't help us find them Grandma Ryleh can. Scrying is her specialty. There's a teleportation room here at the school as well that can get us to almost any location we need to go. The sooner the better. Firebirds live a long time, and this is a big pile....our people may not be as endangered as previously thought," she said, the possibility of actually being able to do something to help energizing her.
| Pyra del Sol |
"You can go, Ignace. And I'll be going with you. You and Lang are too young to be wandering around the sun without supervision and your father is too likely to get caught in administrative problems regarding the evacuation. No, don't argue, Sorchan. This is not a discussion. She wants to see it before it's gone and I want to see what used to be my home one last time and we have a chance to help the Avatar while we're at it. You're not the only one in this family that gets to make unilateral decisions."
| Ardiente |
"Let's go! I haven't met much of the family yet, but if Scrying is... Ryleh's specialty... perhaps we should speak with her first?" Fieri's excitement was just boosting his own, now that she wasn't looking on the first of tears.
He released his arm from around her and scoops the stack of papers. His heart was beating quickly. "If there's no government, no one can tell us what we can't do. At very least, we can bring them to the camp, maybe reunite them with their families!"
This was it. He could redeem himself with this. He could account for all the lives lost, the pain he had caused his people.

Sorchan wanted to argue, but he knew better than to try to contradict Pyra in this mood. He sighed.
"Fine."

as energy of any sort other then kinetic and heat are applied, it is eaten as well. The anti magic devours everything, and as it leaves the cells, they become sluggish, but they don't die, as the positive energy keeps them alive.
"Bother. Alright, trying something else." She zaps the sample with some of the stored kinetic energy that Fei had supplied to the school's power grid to see how the anti-magic responds to that.

If Rena had eyebrows she would've raised one at the casual use of the expletive, but as she did not have eyebrows, her head merely comes up slightly in shock.
"Mostly I just bother my friend for fun, or talk with him. He's... occupied right now though. We have only been at Avalon for a few days ourselves... I do not think the town would go over well, friend Tryko'Sam." She curls her tail around and places the tip beneath her chin, looking thoughtful for a moment.
"What is it that you like to do for fun? Before you came to Avalon." the strange serpent creature asks, her head still resting on her tail and examining the young man in front of her. Her voice lilts ever so slightly on the word you, as if she were attempting to be playful, rather than entirely serious.
It should be obvious that Tryko'Sam doesn't understand the basics of long snake like creature expressions at his use of an expletive, so after her head goes up, and she asks her question, he thinks.
"I don't remember-- I like swimming, I think. Warm water is good. I suppose roaming around and exploring? Talking doesn't hurt. Oh, I ..." He looks thoughtful for a moment then shakes his head. "Can't remember right now. It'll come back to me though, always does at one point. Any nice vistas around here? I remember hiking.. or something. Yeah, getting to the tops of mountains, looking around. That sort of s#~@."

... snipped from other post too ...
Vare seems to think for a moment, remembering Anahita say that the men of her homeland attempted to impress the women with stories of their boldness and bravery. He cannot remember if she said that she would favour such a thing, and so decides not to. Besides, he had just said that the ought not be beholden to any cultural trappings of their pasts.
"The most powerful spell I have ever cast.. well, I suppose it depends on your definition of power. I have stopped time at certain points to allow me a few moments to prepare myself... but the most impressive from my opinion is the spell which allows me to shift form constantly. I can take the form of a mighty dragon, an elemental, a beast, and I can shift as I would see necessary. Very useful for combatting enemy casters, for I can shift to counter whatever spell they bring to bear."
Vare shakes his head, his hand leaving his chin, and accidently brushing her own. "I do not wish to brag, Miss Anahita. My magic is powerful, but it has limits, as does everything."
"As for when our quest ought to begin... perhaps tomorrow? I am not in a rush after all, beautiful as you are."
Anahita listened at his terms earlier and use of the cantrip, and upon being called beautiful, smiled warmly. "Time stopping, you say? And that other spell, perhaps shape changing? Fascinating. Curiously..."
She asks while running a finger along his arm, perhaps either feeling the cloth there, or the arm beneath, "Do you think the universe cries out on some level when powerful spells such as those are cast? Do you ever wonder about what effect your command of magics has on reality, in their obeying of your working?"
Getting a touch excited by the conversation, she was seated sideways, idle, but then she moves to her knees now, toying with the sleeve. "What does it feel like to you, when you are in full command of your figure, able to change into any shape you desire? how long does that last for someone of your skill?"
Smiling playfully she then says, "I have no doubt you could out smart me with you full knowledge of all these, extra-planar creatures, but, does your knowledge of things include the natural beings? weather and such? I'm curious what awareness you have that share my own."
Once that's said, she reaches for one of his hands and examines the skin and such in her own. "I'm not quite sure who to speak too, actually, regarding .. learning more. As for specifics to cultural, well, we'll need to pick something common between us, no? I'd rather not approach you as a praying mantis after all."
That said, she grins at Vare.
