Farfadet returns on stage, one step behind Lani, mimicking her gestures in a comical manner, as if to emphasize how serious the court wizard takes themselves. His face contorts and pouts, grimacing at every sentence. As soon as Lani appears to turn and check what's going on behind her back, he stops and gazes at the stars, pointing at them innocently.

"A hard truth, My Prince! The stars here reveal that a shadow, whether o' the mind or occult, has a dark hold over you. Search your soul, my lord, for what shakes your resolve anon. But behold! The celestial bodies above us warn against a lingering..."

Aside I dare not say it! This grueling pain lingers in... Should we prune it indeed? He then makes a grossly feinted shocked face, putting both hands to cover his own loins, then chuckles, and shifts back to a serious demeanor.

"Wherever it may be, consider what is at stake, My Prince, for the realm shall not suffer this situation any longer! The reason of state dictates that a fruitful alliance should be concluded."

Marvels of the First World soundtrack

Among the luxuriant vegetation, a small huddled figure struggles to get up. At first, a small pale hand, the fist tightened by a long deep sleep, stretches. Amidst huge moonlike leaves, untidy bright red hair can be spotted, hiding a pair of half-closed eyes. The lids, appearing heavy and burdened, have a hard time opening to the grandiose scenery surrounding the group of wanderers. Yet as soon as they eyes beyond have somehow aligned into cohesion, they sparkle with bewilderment, and the huddled figure instantly rises to its feet, gazing around with great interest. "Where... What... Wow!" he quickly interjects, oblivious at first of his companions. He relapses into an admirative silence, bathing in delight and wonder.

The red-haired figure belongs to a young gnome, dressed in travelling clothes covered with greenery of all sorts. Leaves, branches, wreathes, even some stones of all shapes, sizes and aspect are tied to the gnome's leather belt. Pouches still humid from dew also about, smelling of wet earth and humus. His clothes themselves are mostly green, though it is hard to distinguish whether they were that colour in the first place, or they are thus because of how worn and trodden they are. The young gnome, despite his young age, has obviously travelled far and wide. The gnome's first move is to draw an odd-looking paper lantern beaming a soothing eerie light, although it seems more like a hard-learnt reflex rather than out of present need. He steps forward, ignoring the warning issued by the elf, and attempts to climb on a large-capped toadstool mushroom to gain a somewhat better view. It is only a good half-minute later that he turns towards the other souls that woke beside him.

"Oi! Ye see this? 'Tis the First World! We gnomes come from there, or so I've been told - though the Elders would just bleach rather than admitting it, so busy that they are with they're almighty work." he snorts with disgust at that last word. He jumps back on to the mossy soil, and steps forward to graps the offered hand. "I'd be daft not to honor such a delightful flying creature's greetings. Well met, Clementine, I'm Farfadet, self-proclaimed king of myself, and free soul of the wilds. 'Tis good to see faeries such as you! Do you live here?" he wonders aloud.

Only then does he turn to the other people surrounding them. "Roots! How glad I am to see you here! I haven't seen you in like... wait... a good tenday or so. Fancy meeting you here! Oh, and you're also here Halrod, you are a welcome sight, friend." he greets with genuine warmth and friendliness. "Nidintu, is that you? Now I feel safer already! I see you have met with Halrod and Roots - they're great companions, also lone wanderers like me." he adds, nodding at the verdant warrior leaning on his massive maul.

He finally catches glimpse of Lani and Glitterbloom, and blinks twice. Then once more, at a loss for words. "Err, I, err... glad to meet you, miss! Farfadet, at your service." He stops abruptly, then raises an eyebrow, holding a finger at his lips playfully before winking at her. "'Tis a manner of speaking, of course, but still, I'm very glad to meet you!"

Farfadet then turns to lose himself in the sheer beauty of the wild nature surrounding him and his companions. "The nature here, dangerous? Luring, most certainly... I wonder what brought us here."

Second, a "let's put all equipment here" book becomes, in a way, obsolete the moment the next book with any gear is out, so it only works well if it's the last book in the line. Ultimate Equipment got some flak from people who bought it thinking that "ultimate" implies "all Pathfinder gear" and 5 seconds later somebody tells them their character has an orc butchering axe that isn't in UE.

I'm fully aware of that, but having a big book including most of non-obscure stuff would still be great for me. YMMV

Got my physical copy today, I'm both super-excited, and a bit disappointed. I was really hoping for something along the lines of Ultimate Equipment for 1e, with old and new equipment provided in one book.

I much prefer using books over apps/Internet when browsing for options, and I would have liked to have everything in the same place. I understand that this would push the page count much higher, but now I'm starting to feel $55 for 225 pages is a bit... underwhelming. Still, I can't wait to read it and find out about the great things that are inside.

Lucian's Fort save, moment of prescience: 1d20 + 15 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 15 + 16 = 35
Evanya's Fort save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

Following a hunch, Lucian closes his eyes in time to avoid having his sight taken from him (for the third time in this campaign!), and asks Evanya to dismiss the antimagic field. The devout Desnan first teleports his companions to where Kufieno is, before plane shifting everyone back to Golarion. Once it becomes clear that the Pinnacle of Avarice is falling apart, he pulls his prepared scroll of word of recall in conjunction with his Mnemonic Vestment to bring everyone - blind or not - to the Sandpoint cathedral.

"We made it!" Lucian cheers as he delightfully contemplates the crystal blue sky over his home town. "Karzoug's dead and we're all alive! Praised be Desna, I honestly didn't think we'd all survive to see this day. I'm proud to call you friends, all of you." His eyes are on the brink of shedding a tear as he beams a warm smile to each of his companions. "And you Evanya, you've been incredibly courageous. We wouldn't be here if it weren't for you. Did you see Karzoug's face when the field took away all his powers? Priceless. Which is quite ironic when you're speaking of the Runelord of Greed, now that I think of it!" It is only then that Lucian realizes his azata companion is blind. "Oh, I'm dreadfully sorry girl, let's tend to everyone's wounds first. Wait- where's Thunderpuss?" Lucian contemplates the dead firepelt cougar Sealman has so selflessly carried from the Pinnacle of Avarice. "Great Desna, this day is a day of revelry, not of mourning. Rise from the dead, Thunderpuss!" Lucian casts raise dead, calling the fallen cat back to Golarion - and his loving dwarven master. The Evangelist then conjures a soothing music of the spheres which fills the cathedral with warmth and comfort. Wounds close, and Lucian doesn't hold back on the various curative spells to remedy everyone's ailments. A scroll of mass heal should do the trick. Restorations will be cast on Thunderpuss of course, with the required time elapsed between each casting.

In the days that follow, Lucian's spirits are as high as they could ever be. A bright smile adorns his face, and he hasn't lost any of his optimism. Yet a change has indeed occured for the Varisian, for he appears to be at peace now, ridden of his baser instincts and doubts. His wanderlust is far from extinguished, though, and he speads a good deal of his time striding through Varisia, visiting old acquaintances in Turtleback ferry or Magnimar, or seeing the famed Kaer Maga for himself. However an unbreakable bond never fails to bring him back to Sandpoint, using the opportunity to visit the Turandarok academy to tell a tall tale or two to the local children, to have a passionate chat on Thassilon history with his old master Brodert Quink, or to visit his old adventuring companions.

Yet there's one place he always visits first when he returns home after his long treks in the wild - The Rusty Dragon. The inn has become like a second home to the Desnan. Is it because its many customers never say no to a story told jointly by Lucian and Evanya? Or because of the unique taste of the ale from home? All these reasons may well play a part, yet they don't compare to the Varisian's strong bond with its owner Ameiko Kaijitsu. Her smile as Lucian pushes the inn door after a long absence is its own reward, and so are the endless laughter of the two former adventurers sharing a hilarious anecdote. Complicity is beyond words with these two, a relationship that is bound to bloom in the years to come. Lucian soon proposes to her many unique journeys, be them to show the Tian-Min where his long fight against the Runelord's minions took him, to discover uncharted lands or explore a unique and ephemeral demiplane he created just for the occasion. Time will tell where their paths will take them and what form their relationship will assume, but one thing is for sure - Lucian's life will never be the same without Ameiko.

Sound advice from Dien, thanks for posting that. I'm also going to add that complaining to have to roll nat 20's to save in one's worst save can't be a valid complaint at level 10 if that person didn't take steps to help make things better with aforementioned save. Consumables indeed, but also a more defensive array of feats, like Iron Will, will go a long way. That's the main issue with builds relying solely on offense. Versatility is key, especially at higher levels when you have decent wealth.

The explanation is the following, Xiaobo: when a spell exists on the spell list of more than one class, we always consider it to be made by a cleric, wiard, druid or psychic.

Guide to PFS v.8 p.20 wrote:
All potions, scrolls, wands, and other consumables are made by clerics, druids, wizards, or psychics in Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild play. The only exceptions are spells that are not on the cleric, druid, wizard or psychic spell lists. Hope this clarified things!

No problem for any purchases before you go. Xiaobo, please use text formatting correctly: OOC chatter ("Refen can reroll etc.") should be put between the correct OOC tag. Thanks for preserving the immersion or everyone, including me.

Refen, as well as all his companions save Noro, somehow remembers some of his lessons with the late Master of Spells Aram Zey. How ironic that he would have been the one to teach you about the ethereal plane so many years ago! His stern voice and professoral tone still echo in your mind.

"Pay attention, young ones. Who knows if you will ever set foot - figuratively speaking of course - there? The Ethereal Plane is a transitive plane that is coexistent with the Material Plane. It is possible to see into the Material Plane from the Ethereal Plane, though the view is indistinct. A creature on the Ethereal Plane is invisible, insubstantial, and completely silent to someone who is positioned on the Material Plane. The Ethereal Plane has no gravity and is mildly neutral-aligned. Magic functions normally on the Ethereal Plane, though its effects do not extend into the Material Plane. Spells using the raw energy of force, as well as the spells and effects that specifically affect ethereal beings, cast on the Material Plane *can* affect targets on the Ethereal Plane, but the reverse isn't true. Refen, are you daydreaming in my course? Get out. Now. Report to the warden and have him assign you to toilet scrubbing. That'll teach you to focus properly."

The memory seems so far now. Why, it might even bring back a hint of nostalgia in your heart as you think back on the unsympathetic former Master of Spells.

Alie and Sharna's recollections of Zey's lessons go further beyond that. Maybe it happened after Refen was expelled from the wizard's lesson. The teacher's voice continues, in his ever-monotonous tone.

"There is little in the way of actual geography on the Ethereal Plane, and even most of those who are considered “native” inhabitants of the plane are but mere travelers here. Such creatures include etheric dragons, phase spiders, night hags, and xill. The Ethereal Plane is home to aether elementals and many forms of incorporeal undead."

Night hags. Of course! These cursed wretch of creatures, Sharna remembers them well. Resilient against weapons save for enchanted cold iron ones, they are known to haunt dreams and feast on them. They often have spellcasting abilites too, but Sharna can't quite put her finger on which ones. Was is invisibility, perhaps? Or glitterdust? Not very potent magic by any means, but arcane spells that most Pathfinders find very handy.

Voros always was the good pupil. Perhaps he endeavored to show that his monstrous nature did not affect his intellect, or maybe he though he had to prove something? He alone knows. However, he does remember an old tome he read under the guidance of the apprentice librarian Kynrac Chronarion, a minor expert on planes of existance here at the Grand Lodge at the time, so many years ago. The tome spoke of tales of an occasional marketplace that occurs on the Ethereal Plane, though the location and time of this event changes at the whim of its organizer, a powerful etheric dragon. This fair sells all sorts of strange and rare objects and services, but no conventional money or goods are accepted in trade.

You snap out of your reverie, now fully into the present. Xiaobo quickly returns with a newly-bought dark leather baldric, while Sorrina Westyr indulges in your questions much more that Aram Zey used to.

"That is so, Sharna. You will have to find some kind of currency that might interest the hag, as normal coin is of no use there. Explore the market and find for yourselves what it is Aslynn might be interested in. What she values is unknown to us. What I can tell you is that night hags are usually feasting on dreams and recollections."

Then she turns to Refen, nodding gravely. "You are familiar with Aslynn’s deviousness, so you can understand the need for caution here. In the Ethereal plane, deception may take other forms than hiding, so I suspect that you might find her easily. As for this wretched 322, we’ve learned a few things about her tragic background, and while I think it would be foolish to trust her implicitly, I do believe she is trying to turn her life around in her own way. Furthermore, if she’s allied with Aslynn, you probably won’t be able to attack her on sight and still do business with the night hag. Think of the Veiled Bazaar as a place where violence is only met with the lack of patience of the etheric dragon who runs the place. The Veiled Bazaar appears to be a place of open trade, but hidden offers. With all manners of extraplanar creatures roaming its stalls, you may very well find yourself with competitors who are also after Aram Zey's soul."

If you have more questions you may ask them, otherwise we'll proceed.

"We need the most experienced agents possible right now to save our former Master of Spells, Aram Zey." Sorrina Westyr, the old and new master of Spells, explains. "You there, Alie, Paarin, Lady Landros, report at once! We'll need our very best on that mission"

I'll answer the call. Recruitment is open for #7-23 Abducted in Aether. Two slots are reserved for my EotT applicants Alie and Morrin, two others for Paarin and Lady Natalia, provided they can play that scenario of course. Please note that we'll play the higher subtier, and that as such, I expect people to bring their A-game. Finally, there's no reason not to make that scenario part of the Gameday V, so that's that.

Believe it or not, it does exist! The Archive of Nethys is much better than the PRD (and far superior to the pfsrd), because it not only provides us with all Pathfinder material (including AP, Companion and Campaign Setting lines), but also because it includes whether something's PFS legal or not. If the feat/item/archetype/etc includes the glyph of the open road, it means you can use it in PFS!

Have you read the campaign rules for PFS yet? I'd suggest starting there, then rolling your first character while making sure that everything you're using to create this character belongs to the Additional Resources. You can then create a PFS profile for your character by going to "My Account" at the top of the page, then follow the steps indicated in the PFS part.

Once you're ready to play, you're more than welcome to joing my evergreen scenario trilogy by signing up here. I'll reserve the two last slots for new players like you, so feel free to join!

This is the chance of your life. Do not waste it.

A steady voice rises above the crowd, expressing dissent about the Sword Night's bold words. Anarxos steps on a nearby crate or barrel to be seen and heard by all. His sash is clearly visible.

"Good people of Longacre, I conjure you not to succomb to the Sword Knight's false hopes. You know as well as I do that good and evil don't exist - only acts of goodness or ill intent do. Is the Archbaron a hard man? That he is, but he asks nothing more of his people than what he demands of himself - loyalty, faith in his leadership, dedication to the town, and hard work. Sword Knight Allamar would have you believe he is evil incarnate, but the sad truth is that he is just a man, like you and me. He's like a father, stern perhaps, but wishing nothing else than see his progeny grow up and bloom in this harsh world. Do not blame him for the hardships our very existence bears upon us."

Then he turns to address the Sword Knight directly.

"And what of this Angel Knight? You would have us believe with this finely-crafted helmet that salvation has come? This title and helmet are nothing but theatrics that you present to us like a comedian on a stage, a deception. Why do you seek to raise false hopes in the hearts of these good people? You would have them defy the Archbaron in your stead and end up being slaughtered - no - sacrificed like the proverbial lamb? You know full well that a rebellion will be bloody, and that the good people of Longacre will be the first ones to pay a steep price for it."

Anarxos once again addresses the crowd, his eyebrows frowned in what looks like sympathy - but anger could also be read from the same features.

"Lanbert Wilton will be remembered indeed. Our condolences go to his family and friends, who mourn his loss even more than we do. However, do we want to remember him as the defender of a greedy man who wasn't paying his due taxes, or as someone who sparked a bloody and needless uprising? I will not have the people of Longacre march to the slaughter for the petty ambition of a Sword Knight, not when their lives and those of their children are at stake. Go to your homes, good people of Longacre, and pray that the Archbaron will show mercy for even listening to Allara's lies and fallacies." he concludes with a threatening tone.

It was a blast - although it was more a mash-up of various sci-fi / space opera settings than actual Starfinder. For example, we had a jedi adept and a protoss zealot in the group, had reflavored encounters from Star Trek, Dr. Who or the Star Wars universes. Our ship was called "The Millenium Yak", with an antropomorph yak as its second-in-command!

We played it on these boards as a PbP, feel free to check out the campaign if you want. Unfortunately, we had to stop after part 3 of the AP.

Here's some additional information about how this special scenario is going to play out.

The Overseer GM, Jesse Davis, is going to post information on a regular basis at the following location: http://pathfindersocietyonline.com/2015/11/pbp-gameday-iv-siege-of-serpents -overseer-posts/, where some capital information will be communicated. It is paramount that you check that link every time you check the gameplay thread.

For ease of use, I've included the link in the header. The password to that website has been PMed to you - please don't divulge it or post it in a public area.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

I'm really happy about this game!

Captain, you surely remember that wreckers are not an uncommon hazard and finding the specific crew that attacked the Lady’s Sting will be a difficult task. However, it’s possible that the Temple of the Hidden Name in Beachcomber might have some information that could lead to the wreckers. suggests Xerxes before the chase begins.

Now...
Xerxes nods, putting his full attention to the task at hand. His inner voice echoes in all the minds of the crew, instilling both courage and confidence in the assault ahead.

Note: if you are one of my Skull & Shackles players, leave now! Captain's orders!

Here's a challenge for all of you who love creating characters. Design one (or more) character for my PCs' pirate crew!

The gist
I'll be running the Skull & Shackles AP, mixed with Razor Coast, as a sandbox adventure using the P6 rules. One of the important features of that campaign is the PCs will be able to recruit valuable NPCs to have them join their pirate crew. Later on, these recruited crew members can join the PCs on their adventures as if the PCs had the Leadership feat. Those characters need to be memorable, and the PCs should really see the interest of each character. I'm not really good at designing characters, so I'm turning to you for creative ideas!

The rules
Each character submitted can only have 6 class levels (since level progression stops at 6th in the P6 ruleset), but can have up to 10 additional feats to complete his/her build. If you're familiar with the E6/P6 systems, signature feats are not necessary. Any class/archetype in Paizo material is fair game, except for the pre-unchained Summoner and its archetypes. The game has guns and cannons, so any black powder type is welcome. Lastly, it's a game that won't be using alignment, so you need not bother with it, and the pre-requisites based on alignment don't exist.

The goal is to create a character that my PCs would love to have as part of their crew, either crunch-wise or flavor-wise (or both!). The submitted characters I like the most will be added to my campaign, with full credit to you for creating that character, of course.

Format
Here's an example of the format for your ideas of characters.

Name:

Race (ethnicity):

Why your character should like to join a pirate crew (short... or not, your choice):

Your character in one sentence:

Build:
1st -
2nd -
3rd -
4th -
5th -
6th -
Additional feats:

Key pieces of gear (magical or not; apart from the Big Six):

May Besmara look favorably upon your sails!

Classes
Like many posters here, most of the things I don't allow in my homegames are in the blacklist because they don't fit the campaign thematically. For example one class that hardly sees the light at my table is the Gunslinger, for flavor reasons. However, we're about to start a P6 Skull & Shackles campaign in which I'm happy to say that we have a Gunslinger at the table.

One of the only exceptions to that is the pre-Unchained Summoner, which I never allow playing (archetype or not). I don't like the class and its potential to break the game. I'm happy with the Unchained version, which I'll gladly allow if a player wants to play a Summoner.

Races
I usually prefer core races at the table. If a player really wants to play an exotic race (barring Drow Noble, Svirfneblin or Strix, which are also not allowed), they have 15-pt buy instead of 20.

Alignments
Evil alignments are also not allowed (except when playing an evil campaign, obviously). I want the characters to be team players, not backstabbers.

Feats
The only feat that I consider banning is Leadership (and Torchbearer variant). That being said, that feat could be truly interesting if you're running a campaign for 1, 2 or 3 players. However, in a 4+ character team, I don't think allowing Leadership is very wise, since it slows the game down most of the time.

3PP
3rd party material is only accepted on a case-by-case basis. I think there's far enough material in all the Paizo books without looking elsewhere. That being said, if a player really wants something from a 3pp book and that it makes sense for his character, I'm happy to discuss it with him.

Crafting
I don't have a problem with crafting feats. I usually say at the start of a new campaign whether that campaign will be fit for crafting (lots of downtime) or not. If my players were to abuse the feat to be way above WBL and start slaughtering their opponents effortlessly, I might add templates/class levels to the monsters. Or readuce the number of items they find. Or reduce the amount of downtime. However, it has never become a problem for me so far, so I don't see myself making these adjustments anytime soon.

As a conclusion, my goal when considering whether I should allow or disallow something for my game is to find a common ground that'll make both the players and me happy. In that regard, I think that a very important point is talking with your players before character creation. I could see myself allowing something that I wasn't planning to if the player gives me a very good reason to allow it. Likewise, a player may reconsider his choice if I explain to him why I choose not to allow something.

Sorry about the week with sparse posting, it's been a hectic time for me as far as work and family are concerned. Moreover, the motivation to GM online is just plainly gone these days, but don't worry - we'll finish this scenario in a (hopefully) timely fashion.
