Fiend series | Shackles

You open the door and look into the room. Three wall-mounted flaming stone braziers illuminate this unfurnished chamber. Lying on the floor in the middle of the chamber are three mangled humanoid bodies—two male
humans and a female elf. Gouges and long scratch marks mar all of the walls of this stone room, as well as several areas on the floor and ceiling. A heavy black curtain cordons off the far southwest corner of the chamber.

A malignant cloud of shadows boils in the air, its skeletal maw soundlessly babbling as the creature’s claws manifest from the darkness.
Knowledge religion on your turn to identify. You can already roll, getting results after enemy has acted.

Maldrek sees the creature as it is, an undead allip. It is a ghostly creature that floats above the floor. He quickly draws his wand and shoots a magic missile at the allip.

MM: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Allip abilities:

Babble (Su) An allip constantly mutters to itself, creating a hypnotic effect. All sane creatures within 60 feet of the allip must succeed at a DC 15 Will save or be fascinated for 2d4 rounds. While a target is fascinated, the allip can approach it without breaking the effect, but an attack by the allip does end the effect. Creatures that successfully save cannot be affected by the same allip’s babble for 24 hours. This is a sonic, mind-affecting compulsion effect. The save DC is Charisma-based.
Madness (Su) Anyone targeting an allip with a thought detection, mind control, or telepathic effect makes direct contact with its tortured mind and takes 1d4 points of Wisdom damage.
Touch of Insanity (Su) The touch of an allip deals 1d4 points of Wisdom damage (DC 15 Will negates). A successful critical hit causes 1d4 points of Wisdom damage and 1 point of Wisdom drain (instead of double Wisdom damage). With each successful attack, an allip gains 5 temporary hit points. The save DC is Charisma-based.

Zavita fires another magic missile. Doyote shakes his head and lashes out with his sword. The salty crust on his longsword make sure that the attack counts!

Dario pours some oil over his weapon while Skarn, Henrick and Maldrek listen to the creature, trying to make sense of it's words. Ilinian shakes Skarn "Snap out of it man!". Skarn takes a moment to readjust himself.

New will save Skarn: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Maldrek comes to senses as when Dario grabs his arm, just to see how the allip is killed. Thanks for helping me professor. He says nothing about not needing to be help if Dario thinks another action is better suited. As my master always said, there's no need of being ungrateful. There will be another option to talk about priorities.

Maldrek waits everybody start walking to follow them.

I can't reach the room with a single move and casting a spell without knowing there will be problems seems worong to me.

Henrick, snapping out of his stupor, finds the bottleneck approach to be cramping his style, so he tries to push his way through (drawing an AoO most likely).

Overrun: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

If that exceeded his CMD, then I placed Henrick right behind him. Otherwise, I think he can be put to the square just above Doyote. If it exceeded by 5 or more (which I think is unlikely), it would also be prone now.

It is clear to Henrick that the pile of bodies in the center of the room has been sprinkled with peper, basil, thyme, rosemary, bayleaf and other herbs. While his contemplating what that might mean the curtain moves aside and he sees the ghostly figure again that possessed Ilzinian! It seems to try something and is obviously frustrated when it does not work!

Movements later a skeletal figure with a long, thin neck seems appears next to Henrick! It floats slightly above the ground. Its jaw is elongated, showing sharp, worn teeth. The jaw opens and bites Henrick, dragging him closer while puncturing the dwarven flesh and sucking out blood.

Sorry Henrick, you just happened to be the closest target, not picking on you in particular

Carried by the quickness of flame, Skarn enters the room and goes straight for the skeleton holding his dwarven companion. "Let him go!" he yells as he fiercely brings down his axe upon the bony grappler.

Maldrek moves inside the room to see the new opponents, and takes a moment to see the new opponents.

What's grappling Henrick!!! Have you ever fought anything similar? asks moments before conjuring a layer of grease over the dwarf's armor.

A creature wearing greased armor or clothing gains a +10 circumstance bonus on Escape Artist checks and combat maneuver checks made to escape a grapple, and to their CMD to avoid being grappled.

then Kahn strikes with his enchanted beak.

Henrick squeals like a greased pig and struggles to escape.

Skarn axe cleaves right through several bones of the skeleton. To his amazement it seems not to have the iconic resistance to slashing attacks that normal skeletons have.

Maldrek is puzzled by the long-necked skeleton and covers his dwarven companion in grease. Zavita banishes some of the evil life force of the undead. Then Doyote charges, both Thunder and himself do considerable damage to the incorporeal creature.

Henrick makes good use of the grease covering him and escapes the vile jaws of the skeleton. Ilzinian moves up to the ghostly creature "Repent now or be gone forever!"

Maldrek, once sees Skarn doesn't pay attention to the incoherent bable Doyote is talking about, shouts quickly to Skarn. Give me some space, I can burn them a little. And be knocked down shortly after. Then he moves in position an unleash a wave of flames.

Skarn hits the skeleton hard, but it does not go down yet. Maldrek's flames wash over the skeleton and the ghost. The ghost stands in the flames and is not harmed at all while the skeleton succesfully jumps out of the way. Even though it does that it seems to be harmed more than it should...

Dario pauses for a moment to try and understand Doyote before realizing the fighting is still going on. He shakes himself out of it and shouts, "Destroy the ghost! It must be behind all of this!" After saying those words the Professor motions and suddenly vanishes.

Use luck for the save. Use Freebooter's Bane on the ghost. All attacks against the ghost get +1/+1 to attack and damage. Cast Vanish.
