Welcome to GM Lithrac's Warden of Sulfur Gulch discussion thread! We are aiming at playing this scenario in subtier 10-11, since I've picked that scenario to allow both Alie and Refen's investigator to reach their 33xp. Bring your A-game!
Also, this scenario will be "invite only". The first slots are taken by Refen, Sharna, Alie and Voros (or alternate characters in level range). That leaves two seats. I'll ask around first, and we'll see if we can fill the two available slots.
Additionally, I'd like everyone to try to post once per day so that the game moves faster than the one we've just finished. I know high-level games tend to run longer (which is why I usually prefer to play them online rather than in Convention slots), it can't be helped, but I'm sure we can manage to finish it within a month/month and a half. Thanks for making that effort!
Finally, please update the relevant information in the Maps and handouts page (imported from our Abducted in Aether game). You may roll your day job now, of course.

Dotting in here! Thanks for the invite! I must still level Voros to level 11. If the party lacks support, I might bring along Shamak, my level 10 growling bard.

Hey gang! Sharna's player here again. I've got a couple of options depending on what we need: a frontliner bardbarian, a heavy-on-supports/heals cleric, and Sharna, whom you know. Could play any of them. Possibly slight leaning towards the bardbarian. (Did Conan and Alie play together before? I think so but I can't remember for sure.)

![]() |

Haha the possibilities to stack the skald's song and a bard's is always interesting ;)
But again, if Dien plays melee and Refen still plays his oracle, I'll stay with Voros so as not to swarm the battlefield.

Refen here. I would very much like to play my Investigator on this one. Will be setting up today or tonight.
He's not exactly a combat-heavy character, but can hold his own in that regard. He's pretty much got the skills down though.
You can think of him more filling the "rogue" role.
Already table variation. Rolling the Day Job with inspiration, which he can use freely on Profession. Investigators get a lot of table variation for day jobs, but Lumpy's isn't really that good anyway.
Profession (Private Eye): 1d20 + 6 + 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + (7) + 2 = 29
So, it's a 20 if you don't let him use inspiration, 29 otherwise.
- Basically, anytime I roll a skill, expect it to be more complicated than usual.
- Lumpy has the Expanded Inspiration talent, which means he rolls 1d8 for inspiration. He also has the Half-Elven Favored Class Bonus for investigator, which currently means he adds 2 to the roll when rolling for inspiration.
- An important rule to keep in mind is that inspiration can be used even when taking 10 or 20, so Lumpy still rolls the 1d8+2 when taking 10.
- In his stat line for his Perception and Sense Motive, I basically just included what is needed to roll the skill.
- I wanted no trap out of reach for him, so he has Trap Spotter, Trapfinding, and Technologist.
- Here is a list of skills that Lumpy can use without using Inspiration: Bluff, Diplomacy, Disable Device, Heal, Intimidate, Knowledge (All), Linguistics, Perception, Profession, Sense Motive, Sleight of Hand, and Spellcraft.
- He's a Psychic Detective, which mostly means he casts psychic spells and eschewed all parts of the investigator that have him deal with alchemy.
- Not going to explain them all here, but he took Extra Investigator Talent 4 times, so he has a lot of talents...

Ha, Lumpy looks fun. I'll commit to Conan unless we really need a healer? But it also looks like we need someone to stand up front and smack things, so, yeah. I need to get Conan's sheet current. *goes to mess with*

![]() |

Hey gang! I think Conan and I played together before. I think.
I'll get your sheet filled out this evening, DM. I've got a busy day in court, so it'll be late today when I get on it.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Conan sits in the foyer of the Absalom Lodge, a rubber chicken in one hand. Junior agents give him a wide berth as he tells 'jokes' to his chicken and it responds.
"Say, Plucky, what do you call it when a vampire slays a snowman and raises it as undead?"
"Gee, Conan, I don't know, what?"
"FROSTBITE!! AHAHAHAHA!"
Someone eventually gives him some gold coins in a futile effort to get him to leave.
Day Job: Perform Comedy, Green Market boon: 1d20 + 18 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 18 + 2 = 40
....maybe someone actually liked that joke!

![]() |

Ok, I'll stay with Voros to keep things balanced between melee-ranged-rogue-magic, then. We still have no healer :D
I'll level up Voros tomorrow.

![]() |

Hey, Lithrac! Elindriel is available if a melee/support (non-healer, sorry) bard wouldn't be problematic.
Perform (Sing): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33

![]() |

Status conditions? My friend, have you heard of the Placebo Effect? It tricks your brain into thinking you don't have a condition, it's great! Of course, it comes back, but for a brief amount of time you are worry free!
I will always welcome a bard in the party. Honestly, I think it's one of the best classes in PF, and a great addition to a party.

![]() |

Yay! A bard! Welcome aboard! :)

A few things mechanically about Conan for the GM/party, I know we're probably not ready to start just yet but doing it while I remember:
-If you're within 30' of him you have a constant +6 morale bonus on saves vs fear effects
-Power attack will be on for every attack unless I say otherwise
-Urban barbarian, will always rage for STR unless I say otherwise
-Crowd control, AC goes up by 1 if adjacent to 2 or more enemies
-He has Combat Reflexes, Uncanny Dodge, and Blindsense, which can be a thing to remember if we get invisible foes or the like
I think that's it! He's fairly simple.

Thanks for the info, dien. It's always deeply appreciated.
If you know someone you'd like to play with and who has a character in tier available, you can drop them an invite. If no one shows up we'll start this weekend.

Just a note to say that I can't make Voros' sheet update this week-end, as I'm away from home (gospel songs). It will be done on Monday, though.
Désolé, j'ai pensé pouvoir faire l'update de Voros en cette fin de semaine mais ça ne s'est pas donné... Et ce week-end je gospelise :D
Je peux poster cependant si jamais pour les détails techniques.

![]() |

We're starting now, Voros will come along on Monday. In the meantime, I still need Elindriel to fill in the chart on the Handouts page, please.

![]() |

Alie will also purchase two scrolls of Tongues for 750 gold total. Those will last for 50 minutes apiece.

![]() |

Updated Voros' sheet. Let's roll!
Dayjob, craft alchemy: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (15) + 27 = 42

![]() |

Le seul désavantage pour l'instant, c'est que je me fais soigner moins bien "Reduce the amount of healing you receive from spells and effects by 1 per die."

Just a warning, starting January 14 I will be on a long business trip in a very different time zone, so likely my post rate will be shifting for the remainder of this game. I still expect to be able to post 1/day (hopefully), but if I go silent for a little (especially on weekends) I just want people to know what's up. :)

![]() |

My turn to give a warning. I'm currently sick, and won't be able to update until I get better (wife is also sick so it's going to be rock n roll for the kids). That shouldn't last more than a couple of days for that kind of ailment, hopefully. Thanks for your patience!

Apologies, but I'm out of town for the weekend. Please bot Alie if the combat hasn't been resolved. I'll be back late tomorrow night. Thanks.

![]() |

Hey guys, I'm going four days in holiday in Edinburgh from tomorrow. I'll do my best to update the game once a day at least. :)
If I'm holding things, please bot me, everything should be in my "macro" spoiler on my profile.

Not a suggestion Conan would make ICly, but as table talk: Alie could turn herself invisible as we got near the entrance (but before we hit line of sight of any Ghost Wolves who might be watching the door), while carrying any stuff we want to take out; at that point the rest of us (sans Alie) emerge enough to see where the Ghost Wolves are, communicate that discreetly to Alie versus message, and she can invisibly D-Door out 800 feet away from them using hopeful terrain cover to block line of sight if they have any sort of true seeing up/etc.
At which point we sadly explain that one of our number died inside and that it's true the technology is terribly and risky and should be left alone. ;)
(Lumpy of course could instead be the one to exit that way if Alie cast invisibility on him, etc).
Drawback: the party member in question would have to make their way back to civilization on their own since they couldn't rejoin us during our Ghost Wolf escort back, etc.
/just an idle notion
After this scenario, Conan's only got one session left of play before retirement so, speaking OOCly, the possible loot loss for giving up some tech gear doesn't matter too much to me. I realize others may feel differently!

![]() |

Alie is fine with giving up the tech gear, but she'd be happy to cast Invisibility on Lumpy if he wanted to try the trick. She would like Isirah to be preserved both because it'd be the good thing to do and the society could also find that as an important find

![]() |

Here are the chronicle sheets for this scenario. Please download them, check them, print them.
Alie
Conan
Elindriel
Lumpy
Voros
Thanks for playing! Please post in this thread to acknowledge you have got your sheet so that I know when to close this campaign.
On another note, Alie, good luck for Eyes of the Ten! I'm glad to have at least helped getting your character to this point.

![]() |

Thanks for GMing! Had a blast, and this was truly a fun party to go through that scenario with.
Also, two characters retired in one scenario... how fun!
Hope to see all of you around. (I have added the chronicle to my own drive)

![]() |

Thanks a lot for GMing this one, it was truly an amazing scenario!

*fistbumps all around* Had a great time, thanks for a good run guys. Glad to kill ROBBOTS with a skilled team!
I have my sheet, looks great. Thanks Lithrac!
