Doyote |
sorry missed that it came up to me over the weekend
will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Ok that was close. Since I doubt I can charge through the hungry fog
+1 adamantine lance: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21 damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
axebeak bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28 damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Foul creature of mist and darkness. You shall not have our lives!
GMG |
No problem Skarn, it just helps us all if we know what modifiers are applicable to each combat. Doyote: good to have you back!
Doyote does some minor damage to the fog, while his axebeak seems to hit it, only to have the fog move out of it's beak before it is completely closed. The fog rolls over Doyote, Skarn, Zavita, Fiana and Maldrek!
(target’s choice) as the hungry mist moves forward.

Doyote |
Since I have reach I assume I still get an attack of op for the fog moving through my reach. as well as deciding to make the attack of op or save vs engulf
+1 Lance: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
reflex Doyote: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Doyote cant seem to manuvour himself out of the fog while astride his mount so he encourages Kahn to bite it.
Axebeak combat reflexes so can attack of op for the engulf and the movement
bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Skarn Moonbane |
Reflex, Prayer: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 10 + 2 = 19
Skarn is luckier in his attempt, and manages to escape the fog's deadly appetite.
Are the engulfed creatures considered grappled? If so I might throw in a liberating command at Doyote.
Maldrek "el liberto" |
will save against shaken, prayer, bless: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 23
reflex save to not be engulfed, prayer: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 = 24
Maldrek proves he was used to run for his life, and moves away from the hungry fog. Before doing anything he focus his mind to catch a glimp of the future, so he can avoid being engulfed again.
If you don't have a magic weapon, tell it to me. Then he picks of his alchemist's fires and throws it at the creature. And burn it meanwhile.
alchemist's fire, 1 range increment: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 2 = 61d6 ⇒ 6 I've put a little explosion where it can't splash no one of us
Activating prescience: 1d20 ⇒ 20It should had been used at the begining, but I let the rolls in the order I make them
Professor Dario Westone |
Will Save (Prayer): 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 2 = 16
Dario tries to rally the group against the formless mist. "Courage! That fire hurt it. We more things like that!"
Activate Freebooter's Bane. Everyone gets a +1/+1 to hit/damage against the mist.
GMG |
Doyote, the way I read Engulf you get a single Attack of Opportunity (since each action provokes only once) which you can trade in for a reflex save to jump out of the way
Skarn: no, engulfed creatures by the Hungry fog are not grappled, it is a specific feature of the creature that they are not.
Zavita and Skarn jumps out of the way of the moving fog. Doyote and Fiana try to jump clear, but the fog moves just that bit quicker. Kahn bites the mist for some minor damage.
Maldrek throws a flask of alchemist's fire at the fog and easily hits it, burning away a few of the eerie faces that linger within.
Dario is uncertain what to do and waits for a bit delay Ilzinian moves forward while drawing his sword, he waves it around menacingly, distracting the foggy creature.

Despite her weakening because of the life-draining fog, Fianna somehow finds the strength to exit it by taking a step back, and bites.
I don't think being staggered prevents from taking a 5-ft step, let me know if it does.
Bite, PA, Prayer: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 1 = 191d6 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 1 = 12 if successful: Trip: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 1 = 15

Doyote, you are not, it is in the Hungry Fog text ;-)
Doyote negative energy damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6) = 12
Axebeak negative energy damage: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1) = 12 lol
Doyote and his axebeak take damage from the fog that envelops them, but manage to kill it!
out of combat, time to heal up!
Ilzinian immediately turns to the corpse in the corner and kneels down next to it "Oh no! It is one of my fellow pathfinders! We must go up again to give him a proper burial!"
Fiana moves is nosing about and growls once, the signal that she found something. She is standing over a small wooden box, about 12 inches long, 6 inches wide and 6 inches deep.
Zavita |
Zavita walks around dressing her comrades wounds the best she can.
If you have your own wand, she will use that. If you need more resources let me know and I will use what is appropriate
Skarn Moonbane |
As soon as the fog disperses, Skarn calls back Fianna and checks her wounds. Once he's made sure they aren't infected, he draws a wand a uses it to close them.
CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
"What did you find, girl? Let's see it..." He then checks Fianna's findings, starting with the strange box. "A folding boat? What are these?"
The oracle then casts detect magic and inspects all the items.
Take 10 in Spellcraft for a 20 final.
Professor Dario Westone |
The Professor stuff the alchemist fire back into his pack as he rushes to the corpse."Let me see." He examines the corpse and picks up a longspear, which looks quite similar to the one the wight was holding.
Dario walks over to the wight's corpse. "Ilzinian, who was that? Did you have two members who wielded longspears like this?"
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Heal to find the cause of death for the corpse: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Maldrek "el liberto" |
Maldrek looks at the corpse, to be sure it's not really a wight spawn ready to jump on them. Using deathwatch to aotu identify it as dead, or undead or whatever
I doubt he has die so near our coming, but better be safe. But, in either case, if one of the previous group has become a wight, there must be another one here who transform the first
Skarn Moonbane |
"I will. The day of reckoning has not come yet for you." admonishes Skarn as he uses the wand to close Doyote and Kahn's wounds.
Feel free to roll the charges yourself, since you haven't listed your current/total hp in your header I don't know how badly you're wounded.
Henrick Bulwark |
It seemed so undead though! Was it an evil outsider, by any chance? I hate them too.
"Well, this is good that we have at least acquired the boat. I am sorry about your friend, and of course, we shall give him a proper final resting place."
GMG |
Henrick, no a Hungry Fog is an ooze, weirdly enough. Please change your header to include the two negative levels.
"My mind is blank to his name and what he fought with. But seeing he is recently dead he must have been one of my companions!"
The corpse is a human corpse, that is really dead. Dario is unable to find the cause of his death

Maldrek "el liberto" |
heal: 1d20 ⇒ 14

Maldrek cast detect magic to identify the candle, unfuortunately there're too many different kind of magic candles he can remember and has not enough clues to know wich kind is this.
If any of you are able to identify the candle, please do so. If not we should go on
Henrick, do you need healing? I can help you with that, and you'll only ping as evil for a little

GMG |
Henrick, you put your negative levels with your animal companion, not at yourself
You exit the room and enter a 5ft wide corridor. The stonework changes dramatically here, as large blocks of dull gray stone abruptly give way to smooth, highly polished black marble. Though the marble is seamless and unadorned, shadows skitter across its surface—moving faster when viewed out of the corner of the eye. These ephemeral shapes and spectral wisps occasionally take on vague humanoid forms with horror-stricken faces. Somewhere in the distance, a low growling sound echoes from deeper within the tomb.
The path through the marble tunnel comes at a t-junction and you decide to take the left path. After a few more turns the path comes to a dead end. You trace back your steps but where you would expect to come upon the earlier t-junction it has disappeared....
Each PC who succeeds at a DC 21 Knowledge (planes) or Knowledge (arcana) check provides an additional +2 bonus on the skill check to navigate the labyrinth.
Can you also give me a marching order?
Zavita |
knowledge planes: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
survival, to aide: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 + 2 = 18
Zavita feels comfortable in the middle.
"I believe it is off in this direction."
Skarn Moonbane |
Skarn would definitely come third, so I'd suggest the following order: Doyote - Henrick - Skarn - Zavita - Maldrek - Professor - Fianna.
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Survival (aid another): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
"Go left! NO- the other left! Nevermind... It's highly doubtful we'll ever leave this place alive anyway." groans the oracle.
GMG |
Skarn, where would you position Ilzinian? He won't take any of the first two places, other than that he is fine with whatever place.
Maldrek "el liberto" |
I like Skarn marching order
If we're going to help with survival, Henrick is the best to make the check, but if you won't mind I'll do the next checks to navigate even if yyou can't help so easily I have a +12 vs Henrick +10 (-2 due negative levels)
survival aid another: 1d20 ⇒ 14
K. Arcana, heighten awareness: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 12 + 2 = 31
If you want to navigate through this as if it was a natural maze I'll hel you as much as I can. But I think I'll do better taking some time to check how this had been built, maybe that help us to move quickier. Then he lowers to the ground and digs and smells searching for any clue that can be useful to Henrik.
Professor Dario Westone |
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Survival, aid: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
The Professor seems little help in navigating the labyrinth, but he does know quite a bit about magical effects, which could cause this type of challenge. "...but when Klisier, the research assistant, read the scroll, he was transported into an interdimensional maze. When we finally were able to rescue him a few days later, the poor boy had experienced over 20 years in the shifting time portals. He was quite insane after all that."
Henrick Bulwark |
Oops. So I did. Fixed.
Marching order works for me.
Survival: 1d20 + 10 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 + 10 = 39 I think I count +10 in aid
Henrick and his snake start sniffing and looking like a dog tracking a bone, looking for a way through this crazy maze.
GMG |
Ilzinian also provides some ideas and Henrick is able to quickly lead you through the labyrinth. The growling sound sometimes is closer, sometimes it is farther of, but you never catch a glimpse of whatever makes it. Finally you come upon a door.
You spend 1 hour in the labyrinth.
You open the door and enter a chamber, itresembles a lord’s banquet hall, complete with a fireplace and a long oak dining table. Dozens of ghostly entities fill the chamber. A score of lords and ladies are seated at the table enjoying a feast, a group of minstrels play lively music in one corner, and more revelers dance and cavort in an open area to the south.
The dancers and nobles seem focused on each other, the music and the translucent food on their plates.
