Right, but part of the problem will be how much plunder Rickety would buy and what percentage of that 1000 gp he'd give you. The 1000gp is the price for a major trading center like a large city, not a small refitting village. That said, he does have a lot of customers who deal in plunder.

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Figured as much. And as this is our first, we will have to stand losing a bit.

Shadow Lodge

I think we should take option 3 in the deal. I don't think Rush would be paying much attention to the negotiations, that's why I'm not saying this in character.

Agree with Rush. But was thinking of some counter-offer.

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

pay it back, but plus a third? ouch.

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

anyway, its not an either/or. we have cargo we can trade. see how far that gets us, first.

also, what improvements do we have in mind first?

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Actually, what about another ship? do we have enough to crew two?

Finding more crew so that if we take another ship we can sail it is a good point. But it might not be one to resolve at this port

Looking through the modifications, they get expensive.
But to start out with Jack and I suggest

broad rudder (500gp; +1 sailor checks) and silk sails (1500gp; +1 bonus opposed sailing checks; waterborne speed is increased by 10%.)

That is 2k for improvements and 2k for the squib, plus the 1/3 (1,333gp) loan interest from Rickety. We might take some of our loose gold lower the loan amount. But we might also want to upgrade some our personal gear.

Also, there is the matter o whether we'd like siege engines. Jack thinks not. He want's to sell undamaged ships. But we should consider it.

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Regarding the smuggling compartments, I can see that might be sorta useful, but ... only if we're smugglin', not just plunedrin'.

Its hard to see how smuggling compartments are sufficient to hide goods alone. its a DC 20, that's not that high. maybe paird with an illusion ...

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Well to be fair, its a DC20 for that particular square. The ship has a lot of squares.

Still I'd rather have a number of other upgrades first.

Also, we should talk to the locals gather news and such. Maybe get a clue where to go next (or where NOT to go).

Shadow Lodge

male Husband 2/ Master of Dungeons 3/ Souless Corporate Lackey 2

I'd suggest anything that helps us go faster. We don't need to hide anything if they can't catch us.

Yeah silk sails is the only thing I see to go faster. A siege weapon to burn opponents sails could be useful, but might have to wait.

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

oh, we might need to hide something if we enter a port to trade our illicit goods and have to pass inspection.

I just see that possibility as something we could prepare for prior to accepting that kind of cargo.

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

good point. who knows, though. maybe Rickety, or someone else, has just that need now.

That's it. Sunyata's out.

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

crap. you'd think that paizo's big site change would include improvements to stability and performance. lost a big block of text again.

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

So, this dude, he plays video games all day, and his girlfriend finds Tinder on his phone. She's had it with this bro. So she buys a samurai sword, tapes it to the side of the bed, hides his phone, and when he's asleep, she attacks him. But he survives after she relents and calls 911. Here is his response to reporters:

Quote:
"I was just so proud for beating this samurai wannabe crazy lady with hate in her heart," the 29-year-old told the Oregonian/OregonLive. "I’ve been preparing my whole life for something like this."
Quote:
"The feeling I had when I won the fight with my bare hands is just absolutely the best feeling," Lovell boasted this week from the hospital. "I’ve played all the sports, won big games, landed some decent tricks on my snowboard. This was better."
Quote:
"I was able to wing chun my way to survival"

My feeling is, she was totally justified.

Farmageddon

She would have been justified to up and dump his @$$. Seems like she just made him more cocky. Either walk away without saying or kill him, none of this half way stuff.

Dump him in a tiger cage and be done. If he survives. Well. Props deserved.

Farmageddon

Let's say that you all knew someone who was starting a podcast about gaming in general and Pathfinder in particular. What questions would you have for them? What topics would you want discussed?

Official welcome, Sunyata:)

Sorry guys, just enjoying the interaction. I'm watching, and will post as needed to proceed, once you have a direction. If you wait for Rickety to show, you can let me know that too, though it was sort of implied that you'd come to the Commons looking for rooms.

The workers can work around a small group if they want to stay; Tap's right on about the numbers - 5 plus 3 on watch would work fine. Also, you're realizing you may be a bit thin on crew, to be honest (potential check penalties in battle), so recruiting may not be a terrible idea.

That's tough Sphen, given the general nature; can you narrow it down at all? Are we talking rules and world design specific to Pathfinder, or the role-playing universe as a whole?

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

We'll go and find lodgings. Just wanted some ground rules set for the crew.

I don't know Rush.
There are different interests out there.
Some people really want to hear about optimization.
Others might like reviews of adventure paths or other materials.
Others want to hear about funny stories related to RPG.
You might break into regular segments on these kind of topics.
Just winging an answer. :-)

Shadow Lodge

male Husband 2/ Master of Dungeons 3/ Souless Corporate Lackey 2

I know it's a broad question. Consider this like a poll. What would you listen to?

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Well, for RPG in general, I enjoyed one set of blog posts quite a lot that emphasized story-telling recount of their games.

Optimization discussions are fine, but not everyone thinks that making sure your character is bad-ass is the point of RP-ing (besides, all that is going to happen is that the DM is going to throw more stuff at you to compensate).

Yay, hi all!

What does tacktack look like??

Tacktack is Taptap's small brown monkey familiar.

I was thinking about the Shackles map. It is difficult to read (text is blurry). I found a high res one (available here http://paizo.com/products/btpy8qzx?Pathfinder-Campaign-Setting-Isles-of-the -Shackles)
,but it made me consider.

Should we know all the names of these places already? I don't want secret island locations getting revealed through the map.

Or should we know just the major locations that we'd have from a common map of the area, and then learn about things through adventuring? I kind of like the latter. If so I'd take the high-res blank map and insert it into google slides that we could edit and make notes of as we went along.

The Shackles Editable Map

Note out ship in the South East :)

Silly Google Docs wouldn't let me upload a single hi res image, so I had to do it a bit piecemeal.

Editable Shackles Map

Our ship is at Rickety's, and I put an arrow from where I think we sailed.

Nice, thanks Tap! You'd know most of these locations, as you'd have many maps on board, and Rickety would have even more that would be relatively common knowledge. Of course, even though you know the names, you don't always know any more details than that.

I'll update tomorrow, as it's a bit wordy...Tap - I'll have numbers for you for crew and needs, etc tomorrow as well

I thought it would be fun to kind of keep track of the in-game date to put in my notes at different locations. Is there a date? :)

I added the current date, crew requirements, and current crew to the info tab. Currently, you're short crew - you have 13 out of 20.

Guys, mind totaling the modifications you want made so that I can post it to the campaign info thread? Sorry if I missed this

broad rudder (500gp; +1 sailor checks) and silk sails (1500gp; +1 bonus opposed sailing checks; waterborne speed is increased by 10%.)

obvious adaption of the classic American folktale.
:)

If any one wants to aid Taptap's infamy play with a few rolls and/or stories, please have at it!

FleetFooted Halfling 39/39 hp |Loot|The Shackles Map

Captain Tap Tap gave an order to all the crew just that morning not to mention Captain Harrigan or the man's promise or any other officer from those ships on punishment of 50 lashes. I think Rush is going to have to whip you. Sorry? -Tap

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

i think that's not going to happen. remember scourge.

Thanks GM Nayr for putting the new informaton in the campaign tab

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

ah, now, that's a touchy thing, about putting a new recruit PC as officer over and above the brave and loyal crew of NPCs who fought for their freedom. There will be whispers and grumbling for sure! I suggest that perhaps the PC make a substantial monetary contribution, to become an investor, you might say.

(of course in real life this is all no big deal. we're all glad that sunyata has joined the game; but roleplaying it, it defies credulity to think that we'd come here, find some random person, and make her an officer after a couple of ales.)

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Tap, I like how you put links next to your character info. i should do that too, for links i find useful (character sheet, the prd, which is no longer conveniently linked in the sidebar, etc.)

Male Human Swashbuckler Lvl 5

Father Time hasn't visited us recently.

yeah the links are nice. Unfortunately the field has a char limit and I am only able to fit two links in...But if I used a link shortener I could fit more. I should probably add Tap's vitals there too, like we do here: viking campaign

The old paizo design was better in many ways. I am sure this will be easier to maintain for paizo, but it seems that many UI upgrades are in fact downgrades. I like the links on the left.

GM Nayr went on family vacation, btw. Shoul be coming around soon though, I think.

Sorry guys...back! Kids were too much fun, so a bit delayed on everything

That's great Nayr.
At the beach myself, about to drive back.
