I can only presume so, with her being a monk.
Sunyata, these are the weapons that you are proficient with (meaning you don't take a penalty to use) by default.
Monks are proficient with the brass knuckles, cestus, club, crossbow (light or heavy), dagger, handaxe, javelin, kama, nunchaku, quarterstaff, sai, shortspear, short sword, shuriken, siangham, sling, spear and temple sword.

should calculate her to-hit and damage with unarmed, vs armed. at her level I'd imagine her unarmed combat abilities to be pretty good

Honestly, I'd play Sunyata as unarmed, but that's me. With the racial outburst ability and +4 str, coupled with flurry of blows, she could be devastating. That being said, I don't think we ever selected rage powers or monk bonus feats, did we? I was in a hurry to get you in, so probably didn't pay enough attention to that. You could be missing a really cool aspect to the character.

Raging Ki is pretty much just punching people in the throat until they fall down, and screaming "Swear to me!" while you do it. Don't you read the flavor text?

Yeah, that's actually a bigger boat than I'd remembered - wp' long with room for 12. If the river were high maybe, but with the drought conditions, it would probably ground out on the muddy bottom

when I did archeology in Belize, when a rain storm was approaching in the field, some of the hired guys would rapidly build shelters by cutting down very young trees, lashing it all together with vines, and covering with broad leaves. it was pretty impressive.

Yeah, that's my fault Jack - been crazy busy, and the initial part of this AP leave a wide open "wait until the ship is done" period. This stuff is mostly made up on the fly. I could always just say...you wait, and then the ship is done, but wanted to give you a chance to do some things on the island.
Also - motivation was largely due to Rickety offering a healthy discount based upon your success.
