No problem at all Sunyata; here's the basics to follow:
You have a standard action, a move action, and a number of free actions each round. Your attack is typically your standard action, and can be casting a spell, using your weapon, etc. A move action is movement of up to 30' usually, though some players have different abilities that modify this. A free action would be drawing a weapon, dropping an item, speaking, etc. Here's the outline for combat
If you want to just attack with your flail to start, that should be an pretty easy one to do. You're already in position to do so, so you do not need to move. Simply roll your attack roll and damage by using the {dice}insert roll{/dice}, except replace the { with [ . Your roll should be by your character sheet, I'll take a look and advise.

yes, a 20 should be a crit, so you get another damage roll.
Sunyata, I rerolled them for you with the brackets. You had the equation right, but need to put the {dice} and {/dice} around the equation to make it work. But, replace the { with [.

Thanks GM, I tried the How to format button and NOTHING happens, I've tried from few different places, phone, tablet, two computers... in 3 browsers. I'd put the brackets around the equation, I thought. Do I need to put them twice?

hi all. uh yeah. water didn't get into living area, but there was 5 feet of water in my basement. breaker panel and wiring, air conditioner, heater, stairs, washer drier, cabinets, and power tools and mower, all trashed.

Hey folks Ive been trying to post but for some reason it goes to a blank and the post doesn't complete. I'm trying again right now. Anyway I've been following although haven't been able to successfully post my dice rolls. I would like to keep attacking and finish the fight...
I gave up after writing my post a few times over a few days... Will need to get to my computer... Maybe it's a mobile phone glitch..??
honestly i've never tried to post on phone, mostly because i hate typing too much on it.
Half my ppists are by phpine but ever since my phipne messed up and turns every letter pi intpi pi, it's been a real mess. :(
Sorry you're having issues Sunyata! I rarely use my phone, just because its so cumbersome to type on the tiny screen. One thing I've learned is to always "select all" and "copy" before trying to post, because you never can tell when it will go wonky on you and delete everything you wrote.

My life tends to be too fast paced to hang out on a non-work computer,so my phone is my brain extension.

Very annoying. A vertical strip of the digitizer is broken..new phone or deal with it...well..I guess I am dealing with it. To type an o, I hope for autocorrect, Or, turn my phone sideways until it reorients, then type the o...but then a whole row of keys stop working so turn the phone around again.

Since you know enough to know that it is the digitizer, I presume you know enough to have checked into the cost effectiveness of having the whole thing (screen and panels) replaced. If by chance you haven't, then I'd recommend looking into that.
Ive replaced digitizers before...what a mess half the time..but sometimes it has worked out well. Main thing though is that, at least on Amazon, digitizers are like $25 to $35..this phone is pretty old now (Nexus 5 came out in 2013).

What modifiers do I apply for sense motive and perception... So I can include them in the dice expressions.

We'll need your character sheet to know for sure, but if you don't have any ranks in those skills then they're both going to be your Wisdom modifier. If you have ranks, then add those. And if they're class skills with ranks, add +3. Or put your stats in your profile. Or if you're using an online sheet, put a link in the profile so we can help and see it.
