here is the real thing. some things are hard in play by post. make a group decision is one of them. also, somethings end up taking a lot of time. i wanted to role play a bit. Set up a scenario with some pirate gambling to determine the exact terms of Plugg's departure; keelhaul Scourge, and if he survives, make him Master of the Privies; offer Scourge back his dried ball-sacks as partial recompense; an interrogation of Plugg and Scourge, for what they might know that we don't (we don't really even know why Harrigan sent us out this way on this ship).

for reference, a long time ago, Jack instigated a conflict with Scourge thusly:
If thou raise thy whip against me, I will cut off thy balls and stuff them up thy fat ugly nose.
After a sharp battle between him and Scourge, he ends it thus:
Jack looks down, panting. A feeling, deep inside, a roiling rising up inside his gut, a lump of shame and regret, satisfaction and fear. Jack vomits on the deck, and grabs the post, his chest heaving, gasping for air.
After a while, Jack looks up at the crew and wipes his dirty mouth with his sleeve. Then, crouching down over Scourge, he takes his dagger, and fulfills his promise.

I'm fine with whatever we end up doing. Rush has no history with these men, so he's just waiting to see what happens.
Either way, I hope they don't come back to us. So as a player, is prefer they die in the end, no matter what happens between now and then .

Sorry Rush, that's my fault. I'm always optimistic about my posting rate while on business trips, but something always seems to hijack it. I'm on my way back home now, so all will be normal soon.

Ship combat here sounds like the ship combat in Starfinder. Note that I haven't played enough Starfinder to have done ship combat yet, just sounds like what I've heard. I'm looking forward to the freedom that I feel is coming in part 2. Also the chance to go be evil.

So, what does a pirate contract go like? What percentage of loot goes to officers, how much goes to swabs, and so forth?

I'm curious to see how this goes. On one hand part of me wants a full inventory of ship resources, salted fish, water, coin, trade goods. Space in the hold to store cargo, have Jack record it into the ships logs, navigation tools, maps, so we may begin sailing the seas as a legitimate transport for legal trade, dirty smuggler for elicit items and rare items, and a wicked pirate who takes ships, builds a pirate fleet, and a bit of all that..

I hear ya, that would be tough for me too. Don't worry, the AP will find you wherever you go, but if you want to just be pirates for a while too...and after the AP of course, then I'm game. I'm going to look for some additional books about the shackles for more depth; I know there's one out there somewhere just can't remember the title. I'll add a map of the shackles for easy reference too.
Do you guys like having the important materials right up top like that; is that easier?

Well a couple of things.
We still have Scourge. He says he can get our ship refitted. This might be important so that we can land in ports without getting arrested for stealing the Man's Promise and it's booty, or other problems associated with that. Do we need Scourge for that? Maybe. Should it be our first priority? Maybe.
Second, navigating means locating us on the map. Where are we?
