I'm GMing a PFS1 and playing in one as well.
Most of my time is now SFS rather than PFS or PFSv2, which is a bit of a surprise.

So I was just thinking, is Pathfinder 1st Edition PFS still played, or is it canceled for Pathfinder 2nd Edition?
It is definitely still played. During our last onlin Con (PlayDis Con 2020) The games were split pretty evenly between PFS 1E, PFS 2E, and SFS.

The nice thing is that Paizo didn't officially shut down 1E as soon as 2E came out.
It would no doubt still be played even if they stopped supporting it, but they're still allowing reporting and even giving out new boons for GMs and conventions.
Personally, I'm a long way from stopping since I still have several 2nd level characters and my highest is only 7th, but I've made the decision not to create anymore new characters.

Same here. I have a 2, 3, 3, and 6. The 2, 3, and 3 are all classes that I knew weren't in the PF2 Core Rulebook (Oracle, Inquisitor, Ninja). I haven't created a new PFS1 character since PF2 came out.
I've probably played less than 10% of the PFS1 material, but I really doubt I will play even half when I "retire" from PF1. My intention is to play through various story lines (related scenarios across multiple seasons) and then maybe include the top 1-5%, the ones where people 10 years from now will still ask, "Remember ____ scenario from PFS1? That was epic."
PF2 is a fine game. The only reasons I still play PF1 are to see how my characters turn out, and to play through the best of a large amount of backlogged material.

I made myself a promise to stop creating new characters when I made way too many upon first getting into PFS. I realized I didn't actually care about a lot of them, and wouldn't be playing with the 40-some I made. Now, I've failed horrendously in keeping that promise. There are all sorts of fun boons that incentivize creating new ones. So I wouldn't fully lock yourselves into that state, but it's a good mindset to have.
I have one or two Seekers and a fair few mid-level characters, but still a lot of scenarios available to play. So I won't be stopping anytime soon! Hopefully.

While I've only just joined PFS (little late to the party, eh?), I've given PF2e an honest try and think I'll be sticking to PF1e for as long as I have people to play with.
To throw my 2 CP back into the discussion from the Recruitment Tab, I'm lucky in that I've not played any Society material, save for 9-22 Grotto of the Deluged God which I currently have my first character playing. It's my second character that I've become much more invested in though, I'm interested in seeing them become my "main" character and go down a proper Pathfinder path so to speak. If there is enough interest, both in players and a GM, I'd love to play The Confirmation; I'd be willing to rotate GMs as The World's Most Interesting GM suggests, but I don't know what goes into becoming qualified to GM in Pathfinder Society.
It's good to see the play-by-post is an active, friendly place, and I hope I didn't arrive too late to experience the best of it.

There are some helpful links at the top of this page. Also, I would suggest if you are not currently playing to just go lurking in a game or two (especially in the discussion and gameplay subthreads) here and there.
Yes, there will be spoilers, but there is a difference between player, and PC knowledge, and folks can go into a movie and enjoy it even if they have already seen it a few times, and can quote scenes in it verbatim, and have matching bed sheets, and all the lego sets, and....
Well, you get where I am going.

I don't know what goes into becoming qualified to GM in Pathfinder Society.
There's a grueling, six-month boot camp that you have to attend. Every night, someone comes into your bunk, throws a pillowcase over your head, and beats you with a bar of soap stuffed into a sock. While they're beating you, they shout out esoteric questions about obscure rules, and you have to answer them correctly or else you get hauled to the toilet and given a penalty swirly. When you're ready to graduate, you have to stand in the middle of a pentagram and swear eternal loyalty to the Supreme Venture Commander, and give the Pathfinder Society a pint of your blood. There's a final quiz, where they ask you to recap the plot lines of 5 randomly drawn scenarios. If you fail, the pentagram flares up and you sink into the abyss, inch by inch, until you answer correctly. If you succeed, they give you a massive tattoo of Lisa Stevens's face on your back, and then you get to GM.
Just kidding, you just have to raise your hand and say you want to GM.

Nah, that's just what happens at conventions, which is why they get treated differently.

I started GMing PBP with no more experience than my own native enthusiasm. Everyone was super supportive, even when I messed up. Now I have multiple stars and novas (meaning I have GMed several hundred games) and you know what? I still mess up sometimes, and everyone is still super supportive. You learn as you go, you get better, and generally speaking everyone has a good time. It's a good community that way.

Yup, lurk a few games and I would suggest playing on one PbP before GMing just so you can see some of the ways to do things via PbP as it can be a tiny bit different in some aspects.
AND as always if you have any questions go ahead and ask them here or send a PM and folks will be willing to help you get set up whatever you need to run your games.

In the interests of getting things wrapped up - especially with PaizoCon Online right around the corner - GMs are encouraged to go ahead and report their OutPost games by/before the end date of May 18th even if the game isn't quite finished yet.
Use your best judgement in terms of reporting prestige and the like and if anything should change between the time you report and the time the game actually wraps up (sudden character death, etc.) just let one of the Online VOs know and we'll get the reporting adjusted accordingly.

Have I just failed my Perception check, or is the Chronicle of Legends still absent from Additional Resources?

I completed my first PbP as GM, huzzah! I liked it so much I'd like to do a module
Yay! And welcome to the online PbP GM family!

Well, crap. I accidentally updated Google Slides on my Android phone last night and now I face the access problem that other people seem to have faced (it just tells me I need to request permission from the owner ... even when I am the owner).
Does a quick solution exist?
(Out of curiosity, does anyone know why the older versions of Google Slides didn't have this problem?)

I would start with making sure it still has you signed in. More than once I have clicked on the link to find out I can see it but the system had signed me out of my google account.

Any chance somebody would be willing to run a high-tier table of 10-07, Mysteries Under Moonlight, Part II: The Howling Dance, sometime after PaizoCon Online? My arcanist has been through part 1 and is now at level 7.1 - I may play him in a game or two on the slow track during PCO to keep him within the range for the scenario, but after that I'll have to put him on ice until the game comes up or just let it go.

RE: GM Pudding’s avatar
First of all: I love that avatar! I've never seen it before; any idea of its source???

![]() |

** spoiler omitted **
Do you know what it is therein, exactly?
*thinks about the avatar again, is struck by a realization*
Wait.
Is it...*gasp* SOUP-PEAR-MAN?!?

Stupid question... How do I report my PbP game? I just finished GMing my first game.
If you meet the criteria (public recruiting, etc), you can use the Online Support Program. Someone else can explain that.
If you don't meet the criteria, or just don't want to, you can create your own event.
1. Go to your profile, and the GM/coordinator tab.
2. Create a new event. You only need to do this once - mine is called "Watery Soup PbP" and I just use the same event over and over.
3. Click "Report" to report a new game.
4. Fill out the PFS numbers and Prestige; the names should autofill. Double check the names and factions (this is important - the biggest point of failure here is transcribing the number wrong).
5. Click "Save and Exit".
It should process more or less immediately. I usually immediately go check my Organized Play menu to make sure it shows up as expected.
I can screenshot you through it if there's still confusion.

If you click on the "kit for new pbp GMs" link at the top of this page you'll find subfolders with the pregen bbcodes (look at the top of the screen). link to level 4s

Sorry, if anyone's able to help: I've finished by 10th GM game (through a combination of F2F games and PbP games), but a GM star did not pop up.
Checking my sessions, I find one scenario, in particular, came up with this note: "Player has already run scenario at session # 143 of event # 92612 Canberra Games Day on July 29, 2018." - this is because I ran that scenario in a face-to-face game during my time in Australia.
I was under the impression we could GM a scenario multiple times, but I'm at a loss on how to deal with this.

You can GM the same scenario several times. Sometimes it takes the website a bit for the star/nova/glyph to show up. Keep on GM'ing games and they will show. :). You can also go to your GM / Event Coordinator tab and refresh your points to see how many tables Paizo is calculating.

At one point there was an effort to make a forum friendly set of character sheets for the iconics. Where the heck is that? I wanted to use the 4th level oracle iconic and need the stats.
Here they are Miteke!

For PFS credit? I thought you can GM as much as you want but you can only get credit once.
You can GM the same scenario multiple times for GM star credit but only once for chronicle credit.
