Going to give you guys a day or two, then I will be moving us on to our Downtime declarations!

Grand Totals exiting Summer
➤Hope (4) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
➤Food (18) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, ⭐⭐⭐
➤Security (9) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, ⭐⭐⭐⭐
➤The Willowshore Curse (6) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, ⭐
➤Pick's Memory Ritual @ ☑☑□
Per this post, modified by the agreement to conscript equally from North & South, here's how far we have left to go before winter:
Hope: 4 (keep this above 0)
Food: 18/26 + 10% (rounded up to 3) = 18/29
Security: 9/10-18 (Total needed depends on the weather.)
Willowshore Curse: 6/?

Now, what should our reasonable accommodation be? Sigurd said something about the Cerulean Teahouse being dedicated to both sides of town. Another option could be that there be no preference or prejudice for North/South in the standing army. (Of course we'd have to word that very carefully or Granny Hu would find a way to comply in word but not in spirit.) Thoughts?
Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |
Using the Teahouse would be a great idea for serving as a more central location for Northerners and Southerners to heal. It would also fulfill one of Granny Hu's "requests" so she wouldn't bother us about it or interrupt our routine to cash in a favor.

Hah! As if she'd allow a two-for-one deal. We'd need a whole new round of negotiations for that. ;D
Auntie Wu |
With talks nearing a die-down, Granny Hu smiles to herself smugly as nobody either 1) challenges her decree and 2) the party stands ready to squander their leverage in abandoning the talks before pressing for a hard-earned "reasonable accommodation"...
Lan, do you want to make the suggestion? Sigurd's teahouse idea works for me.
Vekka Tchakon |
The teahouse sounds like as good an option as any.
DM rainzax |
No new rolls needed - this is built upon the success of the rolls you already made. She must capitulate. Just going to find time to proceed us along...

Off-topic:
I have encountered a bully at work who uses nice language to essentially coerce my compliance. I have spent last couple of days trying to get together a game plan that involves weekly interactions with this person, which has caused me a great deal of anxiety.
That said, I think I am over the "hump" and ready to get back into this delicious heroic horror escapist fantasy. You guys are a great group - a refuge, really.
Soon!

That sounds very familiar (software dev is loaded with them...). For what it's worth, PM me if you feel like talking about it.
Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |
Software development can get very tribal and toxic. Sometimes my consultation lands me at a good spot, and other times I can't wait for the contract to end. I hope you find a good way to resolve this.
Auntie Wu |
Sounds awful. I hope your situation at work improves soon. Good luck!

Awaiting Lan's and Kazuki's Week Two Downtime.
I'd also like to streamline this a bit, and I'm going to ask:
1) That you allow me to roll for you
2) That you plan the next 2-3 weeks ahead
If there is a major event that might necessitate a change in your Downtime, then I will slow us down.
Does this sound okay?
=)

GM, I have a couple more retrain steps that I want to take. It doesn't necessarily need to be now (Vekka should probably help with building tasks now), but I wanted to run them by you to see that they make sense.
Level 2: Spell Parry
Level 4: Expansive Spellstrike
Both are Feat 2.
I want to: Retrain: Spell parry -> Distracting Spellstrike
Desired result:
Level 2: Expansive Spellstrike
Level 4: Distracting Spellstrike
Options (which of these are legal?)
- Retrain Spell Parry -> Expansive Spellstrike, making Level 4 selection redundant and opening it up for the Distracting Spellstrike selection.
- Retrain Spell parry -> Distracting Spellstrike directly, shuffling Expansive Spellstrike from the level 4 selection to level 2
Another take is that it should take two moves, but that oddly leaves him with duplicate feats for level 2/4 selections, and that doesn't seem right.
Step 1
Level 2: Spell Parry -> Expansive Spellstrike
Level 4: Expansive Spellstrike
Step 2
Level 2: Expansive Spellstrike
Level 4: Expansive Spellstrike -> Distracting Spellstrike
--------------------
Distracting Spellstrike doesn't *require* Deception, but it makes primary use of it.
OTOH he does have untrained improvisation, so he woudn't be *terrible* at it, especially as he levels up.
So, I'm also considering
Retrain: Athletics -> Deception
DM rainzax |
Exact levels aside, this to me looks like swapping in one new feat and one new skill. Let's go with two weeks Retraining (one for each).
If a "mission" happens during that time, the feat or skill you are Retraining out of is considered absent.
Sound okay?
Vekka Tchakon |
DM rainzax |
And really, if you are going 4 weeks of retraining, that is what I offered for a full character rebuild. Meaning, if you'd like to make other little tweaks along the way (Raising CHA a bump or two during the same week you retrain Deception, for example), go ahead and fold those into weeks where it "makes sense".
=)
I want you to be fully happy with your character.
If she fails any of these rolls, she will use Halfling Luck to re-roll the check. This also applies to her Week 1 roll.
I'm going to rule that this ability is "out of phase" as a 1/day ability in rolling a check that takes a week to resolve. Let's save it for adventuring!
DM rainzax |
Tea Lore:
We're good with what we have rolled so far, but moving forward, I'm going to ask for "hard" food gathering skills (like Nature and Survival) to represent building up Willowshore's stores. Can't eat tea.
=)
Anyhow, two Skill Challenges, and, I'm going to start getting us organized for Week Three and beyond!
Sigurd Kolphan, Season of Ghost |
GM, can Sigurd purchase a Composite Shortbow? It should be easy to acquire now that we're level 4.
I'm also thinking about a Glaive.
If possible, I'd like to get +1 potency runes on both (or at least the Shortbow.)
According to the Treasure by Level chart, we should have items of these levels:
3rd: 1, 2nd: 2, 1st: 1
We got runes from the mysterious shopkeep, roughly level 4 in power/worth.
DM rainzax |
Any money you have earned from Downtime over Summer (or that you saved from your last level up - be that Itemized or Lump Sum) can easily be used to purchase Common items and services (such as Rune transfer).
I'll leave the exact accounting to you.
=)

Fair. Can't blame me for wishing, though! ;)

Fair enough.

Kazuki Sato |
Sorry. Been quite busy recently. A lot to soak in in gameplay. I'll get to it after work tonight.
If you need to bot me, Kazuki can definitely take care of a few snakes in an outhouse.
Vekka Tchakon |
After that, I can get to chronicles. If anyone absolutely needs their's soon, lmk?
I just realized I missed whatever post these were linked in, and for some reason my search-fu is not finding it. I was checking on my book-keeping for the character I was applying it to and noticed I was missing the copy.
DM rainzax |
Yeah I’ve consistently lagged on this. Will get on top of it soon.

The character numbers and factions do not at all align to the email addresses, right? This was my character info (who was also correctly reported to back in September).

If I think I understand your question correctly, I will email everyone together in a group email, that way the "who's who" will take care of itself.

Leaving this here for my own convenience.
This week is long, but coming up on a holiday weekend, I should be able to get back on top of my to-do list.

Yup, perfect. Ty. Just wanted to confirm since I didn't recognize the numbers that I saw in the spreadsheet.
