Also, I did some math. Beast Shape II lets Garethane move at a 60 ft fly speed. Assuming that he is always double moving, that let's him fly 1200 ft per minute, which works out to 13.6 mph. So in theory, a level 6 feral hunter can cover 160 miles over the course of a long day.
The Kingmaker map scale has edge to edge as 12 miles. That means that 160 miles can cover 13.6 hexes. I will plot courses that don't exceed that maximum.

Busy weekend. Might be a couple days before I get around to making a post. Sorry folks.

Celebeth Quinciel |

Did not know I had a turn.

Rhiannon Wyngarde |

Pretty sure after you were botted last turn, trolls all went so now the whole party is up.

Rhiannon Wyngarde |

Given his last post was Jan 31st, is it safe to assume Kalaman isn't coming back? DM Talomar, were the trolls' attack focus also a subtle attempt to write him out?
We may need a new Magister or to just render him an NPC at this point.

DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |

His job and young family have kept Kalaman away. (Kalaman's player is my son and the reason I started this game during one of his deployments years ago.)
The troll's attacks weren't necessarily an attempt to write him out as much as a half-assed attempt to NPC him as he had been playing the character. With Celebeth invisible and others on the wall, Kalaman was the only logical target.
I'll chat with him to see if he has any appetite for returning and if not we can discuss it further then, but until that is resolved one way or the other I will NPC him.

It definitely felt in character to me, haha. I’m glad I didn’t ruin any attempts to write him off!

DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |

Alright, I talked to Kalaman's player and life is just too busy for him to participate, so I will be writing him out of the game or relegating him NPC status upon your return to Elkmark. In the interim, I will continue to DMPC the character.
So, the question becomes do we continue on with who we have, or do we go recruit a new Magister for Elkmark?
If we want to bring someone new in, I would greatly prefer to bring in a player that one of you know/believe can be a reliable poster (or at least as reliable as this leisurely paced game requires).
Let me know what you all think, and we will proceed accordingly.

I would love to recruit a new reliable player. If that option is not available, one of Celebeth's recruits can slide into the Magister role.

You still playing in a ton of games, Jesse? Anyone come to mind?

Celebeth Quinciel |

Umm I think most of the people here are in other games that I'm in? Not a lot of PF1 players left. I'll do some checking around.

Celebeth Quinciel |

You could try reaching out to:
• Patrick the kid
• Malinor
• Phantom Genius
• Miteke
• Sir Longears

I'm going to be out of town until October 3rd, so my posting will be spotty. I will have my computer with me, so I do intend to post while on vacation.

I hope you enjoy your vacation! I’ll be on vacation too and unlikely to post between 26 Sept - 6 Oct. Please bot Tove as needed during those dates, her tactics will follow the same pattern as last time; Attacking from range until our heavy hitters are ready to engage in melee, then casting Sun Metal for each of them and switching to a support role to keep them in the fight.

So summary for everyone to give DM Talomyr feedback. Looks like we have:
Nitrus Shortspark: Male lava gnome alchemist (grenadier) 6
Skerrin Maltisse: Male CG Elven Witch 6
Sapec Hilorus: Male Halfling Sorcerer 4/URogue 1/ArcTrick 1
Baub the Great: Male Halfling Arcane Blooded Sorcerer 5 / Wizard (Admixture School) 1
Wulfric Tilernos: Male Human Ranger 1 / Wizard 5 (Scryer);
Lucid Highborn: Male human (Azlanti) arcanist (occultist) 6
Sonechka Alkaeva: Female LN Tiefling Winter Witch, Level 5
Wzz-Karr the Wizard!: (never actually submitted profile/stats)

DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |

Thanks for gathering that information, Rhiannon. I appreciate that greatly.
Without an actual submission to review, I think we need to rule out Wzz-Karr the Wizard, leaving us with seven candidates to evaluate.

DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |

Okay, I've looked over each submission and my initial thoughts in who I might select. Please PM me any thoughts you might have around the selection.
Much like passing on Wzz-Karr for lack of statistical write up, I will be passing on Baub for only having a statistical write-up with no background info, leaving us with six to evaluate.
Nitrus Shortspark: Male lava gnome alchemist (grenadier) 6
Skerrin Maltisse: Male CG Elven Witch 6
Sapec Hilorus: Male Halfling Sorcerer 4/URogue 1/ArcTrick 1
Baub the Great: Male Halfling Arcane Blooded Sorcerer 5 / Wizard (Admixture School) 1
Wulfric Tilernos: Male Human Ranger 1 / Wizard 5 (Scryer);
Lucid Highborn: Male human (Azlanti) arcanist (occultist) 6
Sonechka Alkaeva: Female LN Tiefling Winter Witch, Level 5
Wzz-Karr the Wizard!: (never actually submitted profile/stats)

Celebeth Quinciel |

I was idly considering Sonechka Alkaeva because it would keep our ladies-of-adventure theme going, but that character seems to have some weird choices too (for instance, wearing leaf armor, which has a spell failure chance of 15%, but with no feats to mitigate that).

Rhiannon Wyngarde |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I agree that Sonechka Alkaeva looks interesting. The armor thing is weird, but the flavor is definitely there (and seeing icy versions of spells like fireball would be pretty cool.)
Wulfric Tilernos is also interesting with the whole mounted wizard knight role which is pretty unique, and feels appropriate for the court wizard of an Erastil-worshipping nation.

Based on the feedback I've received from you (and my own thoughts on the matter), it looks like this:
1. Wulfric Tilernos
2t. Sonechka Alkaeva
2t. Skerrin Maltisse
4. Lucid Highborn
5t. Nitrus Shortspark
5t. Sapec Hilorus
So with that, we'll go with Wulfric. I'll go post in the recruitment thread with that and send Wulfric's player a PM.

Tove Hellstrom |

Welcome to Elkmark, Wulfric! :D

DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |

The rest of the party has a small fight with some trolls to deal with and after that, they should be heading back to Elkmark. Once they are at Elkmark you will be introduced to the party.
Option: If you would like, and you know where you would like to start from we can do a few posts back and forth describing how you learned of Elkmark and how/why you got there.

Wulfric Tilernos |

In my PbP experience, multiple separate conversations can be awkward to follow, so I will let the ongoing combat play out and pick up with some backstory when they are back at Elkmark.
Wulfric is a follower of Erastil, hoping that a rural and rustic settlement could be more wholesome and honest than the backstabbing intrigue of the generally CN Brevoy (as a whole) or Restov (the city to which he might be most favorably inclined as a Rostlander).
He could have known Tove as a priestess of Erastil, during her ministry in southern Brevoy. Maybe she stopped by to minister to his ailing father (whose fate is, for now, indeterminate). Or maybe he thought her sermons were insightful and succinct, and upon hearing of her successes in the Stolen Lands sought her out to offer his skills. Alternatively, if anyone in the party (or any NPCs) have connections to Lastwall, he could have been directed to the party by the knight he served while he was in that nation.
Anything would do, really. I built him to fit in and have a desire to be part of this.

Tove Hellstrom |

Tove and Wulfric could definitely be familiar with each other. I've never put much thought into her time in Brevoy so it would be nice to flesh it out and tie your character in to the campaign.
We've only been adventuring for around half a year, so Tove certainly would have had the opportunity to come and minister to Wulfric's father after he fell ill.
Actually just checking the calendar, tomorrow is the 24th of Arodus, so it will literally be the 6 month anniversary of when Tove and the rest of the original party set out!

Wulfric Tilernos |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |

Okay, so perhaps Tove stopped by the Tilernos farm about a year ago. Wulfric had just returned from Lastwall where he had been training. She administered some herbal cures to Wulfric's father, and held some Erastil services in a nearby village.
When the call originally went out for explorers, Wulfric declined to take part out of cynicism. He was considering heading back to Lastwall, or possibly to Mendev.
However, word spread of the party's defeat of the Stag Lord., eventually reaching Rostland. Wulfric recognized the name Tove, learned of her charter, and decided to head to Elkmark to see if he could be of service.

Do prayer and inspired courage stack? I can't remember.

Rhiannon Wyngarde |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Yep. Prayer is a luck bonus and inspire courage is a morale bonus. It's only same-type bonuses that don't stack.

Wulfric Tilernos |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Inspire Courage is mostly a Competence bonus (except the saves vs fear part).
So you can stack Prayer (luck), Inspire Courage (competence), and one of Bless/Heroism/Good Hope (morale).

Rhiannon Wyngarde |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Yeah, Inspire Courage is weird in that it's both a competence bonus and a morale bonus, depending on which effect you're talking about.

Azen |

Okay, cool. I'll start singing soon then. I think I forget that I am a bard sometimes. Get mixed up with other characters, and forget to do the basics. :)

Sounds good to me!
Any other maintenance we need to do in the meantime?
How much travel time are we expecting? (This matters b/c Meridian can brew healing potions while we are out on the move, but only if we are out for enough days.)

DM Talomyr - Kingmaker |

Wulfric, the first post with you involved is up in the gameplay thread.
Also, can you PM me a good email address so that I can send you the Roll20 invite?
