Silver Crusade

Throwing my hat in the ring. I'm leaning toward creating the town herbalist/healer. Probably a human or halfling and either an oracle (life) or druid (leaf). The backgrounds that would make the most sense for her would be Outskirt Dweller or Close Ties, and she'll probably venerate Pharasma.

I'm open to being related to any other PC. She'll probably be in her 50s or 60, so maybe a (great-)aunt, once removed, on their mother's side?

Hey folks,
Some of you are looking into exploring the "we're related" concept, which is cool.

As it involves a minor mechanical alteration to Background (well, Ancestry aside...), I would suggest holding off until we have the team selected before exploring that fully.

That said, if two of you wanted to "apply together" as bro/sis or cousin/cousin (or whatever), I won't discourage you. Just be clear if it's a "both of us or none" situation, to keep expectations nice and clear.

...

Relatedly,
I am becoming interested in the North / South split, and imagine it'll involve some major decisions down the AP at some point. Worth thinking about now which "side" you are on!

...

Ordered my books / pdfs last night, so greatly looking forward!

Horizon Hunters

I would like to apply with this character, I believe everything is in the profile. Tengu Cleric of Pharasma

I decided to go with an amulet thaumaturge instead as it made more sense for the character.

I used one of your aliases as a template.

Sovereign Court

I'll be posting a psychic later today.

This is Chapel Ty'El's submission.
Trilu. A Nagaji Dhampir Psychic with the Northridge Scholar background.

Heirloom One predictable silver piece (Advanced Player’s
Guide 262) and a vial containing one dose of oil of potency.
HouseOne of the unmarked buildings near W20/Mother’s Coil
Religion Nalinivatan. The temple would likely be located near W20 as well.
Both sidebars have been read.

Verdant Wheel

Here is Warah's submission.

I have read the “Willowshore Gazetteer” and acknowledge the “Horror and Consent” and “About Your Family” sidebars. Shouldn't be a problem.

Heirloom chosen: 2 minor healing potions and a common piece of adventuring gear worth up to 2 gp (writing kit).

Home: One of the two buildings in the clearing between and slightly south of W5 and W10 on the Southside.

Religion: Pharasma (worships at W10: Cathedral of the Lady of Souls)

Auntie Wu is a bit of a hippie. She prefers to live surrounded by the forest and far enough away that she can't hear the din of other people day and night. For a living, she sells homeopathic remedies that either taste strongly of alcohol (liquids) or marijuana/local equivalent (if burned). Her familiar is a fungus leshy that sits on her head like a hat.

Hi! I'll need a week to write up my character because things are crazy with work + travel right now, but I'd love to throw my hat in the ring as well.

I'm thinking of an inventor with Close Ties (background) to Huo Tian-Zhe, smithy at Second Best.

DM, do you allow alternate flaws (e.g. a halfling blacksmith whose flaw is in CHA instead of STR)?

Addendum:

She will be taking the Blessed One archetype at level 2, which will increase her healing capacity, along with a focus on Medicine skill feats and Assurance (Medicine). Protecting the natural cycle of life and death is deeply important to her, both because of her faith and her druidic tendencies.

Anything in the CRB / Player Core, by the book.

Chadius reporting in.

Rumor has it a lillend came to Willowshore, tired from a great war. She decided to protect this land, fell in love with a mortal, and she remains here, hidden to all but her family.

At least, that's what Sigurd says. His brother and sister adopted more of the performing side, but he found himself drawn to the azata's deity, Shizuru. Emboldened by the tales of bravery, he became a priest and dedicated himself to the katana as well as holy scriptures.

His family lives not too far from the Temple of Pharasma on the south side. Sigurd often spends time in religious discussion with Elizeth Candora. They often share stories of the spirits within, as well as tales from the divine wars his ancestor was tangled in before settling here.

His sister always teases him for being boring, so he's decided to disprove that notion by volunteering to be abducted.

---
Rarity "Boon Slots" (2x Uncommon or 1x Rare options to start)
He's an Aasimar Human, so that's one Uncommon pick.
I'll need to think about the other pick later.

North vs Southside: Kolphans live on the South. Their angelic descendant reportedly settled there. It would be a shame if it were defiled or destroyed by mankind's greed.

Horizon Hunters

Well, just wanted to throw in my submision. I'm open to any of the adjustments the party may want to take on backgrounds.

Pathbuilder Link, levels 1 to 11

I'll make a new character slot if selected, so no problem there. Now, to look for a name, art and a short yet meaty enough intro.

I have nothing in mind yet for the rarity "boon slots" ... most probably will want to use them on some gear I guess.

Horizon Hunters

Regarding the home, religion & heirloom:

Home: Second house from left to right between W20 & W21.
Religion: Yamatsumi (The Mountain Lord) [N]
Heirloom: An exquisite gold and silver laced tarot deck stored within a Harrow Mat

Thanks! Apologies if it was a naive question. I've played quite a lot of 1e but only one game of 2e so far. I like it, but I'm still learning the system to some degree!

Hey prospective players, wanted to pop in with an update as you guys put together your submissions. I'm going to pre-emptively recruit:

1) Sigurd Kolphan (Aasimar-Human Folklore Enthusiast Warpriest Cleric / Flexible Spellcaster)
2) Auntie Wu (Gutsy Halfling Outskirt Dweller Leaf Druid / Blessed One)

For the remaining two or three (probably three) spots, which I will decide at the deadline (end of October), I will try to balance the party around these two submissions (assuming they accept my invitation!), meaning I am still definitely looking for at least one front-liner, probably characters selecting from among the other Backgrounds, probably another human (majority Ancestry here at 73%), and most certainly at least one Ancestry who is considered Common in Willowshore but Uncommon elsewhere on Golorian. I will definitely skew towards "Strongly" and "Recommended" (spoilered here for your convenience) from the Player's Guide.

Strongly Recommended:

Humans, elves, half-elves, halflings, kitsunes, nagajis, tengus

Bard, champion, druid, investigator, monk, oracle, ranger, rogue, thaumaturge, witch

Common (Tian)

Athletics, Diplomacy, Nature, Religion, Society, Willowshore Lore

Ritualist

Recommended:

Other core ancestries, aasimars, dhampirs, hobgoblins, leshies, ratfolks, riftmarked tieflings

Alchemist, cleric, fighter, magus, psychic, sorcerer, summoner, swashbuckler, wizard

Abyssal, Aklo, Elven, Halfling, Kitsune, Necril, Sylvan

Arcana, Crafting, Deception, Intimidation, Occultism, Survival, Thievery

Blessed one, bounty hunter, duelist, herbalist, horizon walker, loremaster, marshal, martial artist

Anyhow, keep any questions coming, we still have three weeks to go!

Horizon Hunters

Very well, I'll modify my submission from psyhic to thaumaturge to better fit the criteria now that we have more than enough casting, while still keeping my focus on rituals and occultism.

Thank you kindly, GM. I do accept. Time for me to bulk up my character sheet a bit with more links.

Horizon Hunters

Here we go, a human thaumaturge ritualist.

Here is PaleDim's submission. I'm still browsing profile pics and may change that, and haven't purchased equipment yet but that can be done quickly and soon.
--------------------
I have read the Gazetteer, and have no problem with neither the “Horror and Consent” nor “About Your Family” sidebars (though there may be some interesting threads there to explore related to his background).

Heirloom chosen Two minor healing potions and an ornately carved staff handed down in his family to him, as his parents did not have any natural children. This staff is for both his Staff Nexus wizard thesis and is the subject of his arcane bond.

Home One of the more humble houses (but not impoverished or lower-class) on Northridge, near W25: The Cerulean Teahouse.

Religion Daikitsu (worships at W9: Nine Ear Shrine)
--------------------
Surrounded by scrolls and fingers perpetually stained by inks, Chikyu is an adopted son which seems to stir up rumors and gossip in town. None aside from his adoptive parents know he even is a kitsune. Mostly he just wants to be left alone to his arcane studies, so tends to be introverted and a loaner. He certainly doesn't feel he "belongs" despite growing up here. Curiously, as he gets older and at least respected for his craft, there are some in Willowshore who come to him for magic advice or input on sightings of the occult or superstitions. One such inquiry has lead to a prolonged, and deep friendship... (TODO to be worked out with DM, which will influence his Specialty Crafting choice)

He feels a magical presence in his blood, but has not determined its source. Does he come from a long line of arcane practitioners, or is there an element of fey in his blood? Perhaps something more celestial. This inspires his studies, but not being able to characterize them, he feels at odds with this part of his nature. He has a Star Orb familiar, Kukan, that he keeps near him at all times.

Since, you've already picked a couple players that likely fill the role I built out, is it okay if I rework the character I applied with. Probably some major mechanical changes, but not as much fluff wise

Grand Lodge

Here is my Ranger (archer) submission. Just a basic ranger. Simple but effective. Might take rogue archetype or just go switch hitter (archer & melee). It's just a rough draft, mind you. His name will change to something more serious, of course. I'd like to possibly go with a Tengu after reading the sidebar to possibly kick up the jorogumo excitement, however, it's not important.

I'm definitely fine with the horror elements in this adventure.

I chose Outskirt Dweller for his background. He lives in a cozy little shack/cabin further south of the southeastern Silvermist Lodge.

Heirloom Chosen: Supplies for an alarm snare, 10 sp, and two lesser ghost charges. (Bought a climbing kit with 5 of those extra silvers.)

Reworked Pek - Tengu Monk, worships Pharasma

Read and Acknowledge "Willowshore Gazetteer", "Horror and Consent", and "About Your Family".

Heirloom Cold Iron Chunk

Home In the Woods west of Lady of Souls (W10)

Religon Pharasma

Background:
Hailing from a family in the mountains of Minkai from the Eastern part of Tian Xia Pek is a bit of an oddity in Willowshire, having moved into town in the past few years he prefers to live on the Southside in the woods near the Pharasman temple. His family like most tengu family both love tradition and love breaking it, and sent him out about 5 years ago to discover himself and Tian and what his place in it, in the family, and the further world would be. Tink, his father, a monk of Irori believed that exploration led to enlightenment, and while he taught Pek much about being a monk believed that it was time Pek himself started to find his place in the world. Pek's mother, Shinyee, was from a family of Tengus throughout the Minkai mountains whose family acted as couriers throughout the region. Tink had retired from his adventuring days in Minkai and met Shinyee after receiving a letter from his old adventuring companion Zarta Dralneen. Pek began traveling around Minkai, but quickly grew bored with the surrounds and sailed east only to find he didn't much like boats as they felt too constraining on the inside. Eventually he wandered his way into the Shenmen only to find himself set upon by ruffians outside of Yin-Sichasi and left for dead on the roadside. He awoke to find himself healed and being cared for in a temple to Pharasma. The cleric recommended he get out of Shenmen or at least out of sight as the opinion on Tengus was shifting for the worse. As he followed a road lined in apple trees to making his way out of Shenmen he happened upon Willowshire and it's temple. He knew at that moment it was serendipity and he needed to dedicate himself to learning the ways of the Lady of Graves. He spent the last couple of years learning from Elizeth Canora while living in the trees nearby. When not at the temple he spends the majority of the his time in the woods still wary of the warning he received, but is familiar with most in town. He's learned much of the local culture and in return for Elizeth's teaching he helps collect ingredients for many of the goods she produces, and provides minor healing for the scrapes and bruises of the children. After a couple years of avoiding the festival curiousity got the better of him and he volunteered to be "taken" as a way to learn more of the town and ingratiate himself further into the community.

OK, here's my Leshy Kineticist: Enoki

I'm flexible about the heirloom; I'm willing to change it to whichever one isn't taken.

I have read and acknowledge the "Horror and Consent" and "About Your Family" sections.

Also I realized I missed the statement in the player's guide that specific Heirloom's can't be picked twice. I picked a different piece of basic equipment than the prior submission, but I suspect it still violates the spirit of it. Or is that okay since it is different?

Picking a duplicate Heirloom is okay - remember you have the option to create your own as well - 10gp is a decent chunk at 1st level

So Im working on a summoner build which somehow ended up turning into a weird series of references to other Paizo products. The eidolon is loosely going to be based upon a grodair while based. Who is the guard? To hell if I know I just made him up.

Spoiler:

“Listen, are you sure that she is harmless,” the guard looked at me menacingly.

I jumped back at his glare. This isn’t the first time I’ve been caught stealing food but this time I had an accomplice. I looked over to her to see how she was faring. She was sitting with her eyes going every which direction with an oblivious look on her face. Perfectly normal for her as far as I could tell.

I can’t even blame him for overreacting. I freaked the hell out too when I first met her. Four eyes, multiple tentacles for legs, and a row of razor sharp teeth made me think I was going to die at the hands of some horrible monster. Turns out she wanted to tell me increasingly elaborate stories of a fisherman who made a bunch of silly wishes. Why? I have no clue but hours later after she finished I decided to ask her to join me. I didn’t have many friends and she seemed nice enough.

“ I may steal. I may try to con people but I will never knowingly put people in harm's way. I met her down by the dam one day while I was trying to find food and she looked lonely so I asked her to join me. She’s harmless if not a little oblivious. If anything, don't punish her as it was entirely my idea to steal the fish from Zataku,” I pleaded with him.

My companion, finally deciding to speak up, said,”Oooo fish. Would you like some fish? We just got some. It's very delicious.”

I groaned out loud and just stared at her. “You can’t offer the stolen goods to the town guard. That’s going to get us into more trouble,” I yell.

Her eyes grew wide at the epiphany at what happened and sheepishly said,”Ooo sorry.”

His expression slightly softens at the bickering and says,”You know I still have to punish….”

“Us? Yeah I know. All I am saying is that just give her a chance and if we screw up again you can banish us to die a horrible death in the forest like you do with criminals. Besides, how much mischief can I get up to anymore with her following me around. Kind of hard to commit crimes when I have a large mobile land fish following me around,” I add.

The guard's scowl softens a bit. “All right, one chance. If you two get up to any more trouble you two are gone. Its bad enough keeping everyone else safe I don’t need to worry about… Wait what’s your name,” he speaks in a frustrated tone.

“My name is Mistress Koi and thank you for giving us a second chance. I promise to behave in accordance with your laws and customs as soon as I learn them,” she says while offering a tentacle.

“Uhhh thanks…. Just leave before I change my mind,” he says while shaking her tentacle.

Also I've read the horror, family, and gazette part of the players guide now to make the actual character. Also I just realized I made my PC's closest family member her eidolon so huh.

I'm still trying to decide on my own character submission, but I just wanted to toss out a reminder to everyone submitting characters here that the GM is using Ancestral Paragon, so you get two Ancestry Feats at level one, and then one every odd level, just in case anyone forgot :)

I'm a little late to this thread, but I'll be adding a submission as this AP&GM combo sounds good. I'm likely to create a druid or an oracle.

I suppose I can choose another human feat now for my bonus Ancestral Paragon one. I'm waiting to see what feats are in the Tian Xia book and might choose one frome there.

Personally, I would go ahead and pick something. That book isn't due until next year and there's this section from page 6 of the player's guide.

"Pathfinder Lost Omens Tian Xia Character Guide Ancestries: Many more ancestries common to Tian Xia will be introduced in the Pathfinder Lost Omens Tian Xia Character Guide, due for publication in 2024—if you wish to play any of these ancestries once these options become available, speak with your GM."

Interested in this. I have a character somewhat built out, will need to update him for Ancestral Paragon.

Base chassis is a human wood kineticist. Will be a fairly tanky character, and depending on party comp I'll either build him as a healing/damage mitigation tank (with help from champion MC) or an aoe buff/debuff tank (with help from wizard MC). Level 9 plan is to of course get whichever one I didn't start with, but that's closer to the end of the adventure and new info might change that plan.

Out of combat will have crafting (including alchemical crafting) as his main downtime thing, and is at least trained in almost all skills, so can put a lot of work in with Aid and Cooperative Nature, as well as whatever skill checks might be required from all the rituals mentioned in the Player's Guide.

Will have the Close Ties background, with his close tie being Jubei (to explain his wizard training). Could also swing Yun Mong-Un or Mountain Summit Grass if Jubei doesn't work out for whatever reason.

Pathbuilder Link with tentative build to level 12.

Definately one of the coolest aspects of this recruitment, and why I will probably go all-in putting together a dhampir for the first time.

Dhampir Sorcerer with an Undead Bloodline.
A Southbank Traditionalist for sure.

Hello there. I'm not done yet, but I'd like to announce my interest with this character.

Hello this is my level 1 build and a link to my proposed plan. All I need to do is tie up a few more details and information and I should be done regarding background.

https://pathbuilder2e.com/launch.html?build=556765

This is the eidolon build.

Is the heirloom in addition to starting money/equipment or replacing it?

Dew it. Dhampir's are inherently cooler than all other ancestries.

It will just be phoenix bloodline for now. Posting with my applicant alias.

Ho Lan ("Lan," per Tien tradition of putting the family name as the first name) is a deeply jealous individual who appears to be friends with one of the NPCs (TBD, per Close Ties). Over the years, he's altered their wardrobe and mannerisms to be like the object of his obsession, and has every intention of someday taking over their life.

I've built Lan up to Level 4, to demonstrate how he might use the Alter Ego dedication at levels 2 and 4. At some point, Lan will realize how stupid he's acting, and perhaps/hopefully use his powers for good.

He'll start off as True Neutral, and a secret follower of Fumeiyoshi, god of envy. He'll switch deities and alignments (to NG/LN/LG) at some point.

Home

Spoiler:
After showing an effort to improve the caretaker of the Daikitsu shrine Ba-Ming Ou decided to take Lynn in. Lynn and Mistress Koi are often seen around the shrine taking care of it and participating in ceremonies. (Note: A small house near the shrine?)

Religion

Spoiler:

While not particularly religious Lynn does have a special fondness for Daikitsu for the help Ba-Ming Ou provided.

Mistress Koi worships the eldest Ng as it was her initial interest in traveling that caused her to meet Lynn and discover the town. While no such temple to the eldest existed she ended up creating a temple to him at the crossroads in the middle of the town.

Relationships
Spoiler:

Haru

While initially a source of frustration for the guard he felt Lynn crossed a line when he caught her stealing fish with the strange fey creature. Angry that she would associate with a potentially harmful spirit he arrested the two. He only relented against his better judgment after spending time with the two, realizing Mistress Koi’s scattershot nature would make it hard for her to get up to any malicious activities. After seeing how much progress the two had made he called in favors to have Lynn join in the festival as a gift.

Zataku

Initially skeptical that the thief had changed her ways, her views began to soften when Lynn and Mistress Koi brought back fish to replace the ones that had been stolen. Covered in mud and sopping wet, Zataku questioned how they got the fish but was still grateful. Deciding to give the pair a chance she hired them on to help which has been a surprising boon for her.

Heirloom

Spoiler:

Lynn’s favorite “lucky coin” is one of her favorite keepsakes. While no longer engaging in criminal activities she still feels a degree of fondness for the scams she ran using the coin.

Background?

“I may steal. I may try to con people I will never knowingly put people in harm's way.

Sample build. I may go ritualist depending on events
A grodair who isn't familiar with them.

I think Im done?

Sovereign Court

I just wanted to point out how ridiculously long some character descriptions can be in 2E.

OMG maybe your character and Barnabas can have the same vampire as their father!

Grand Lodge

Whoo, you are going to have a heck of a time choosing, GM! I am going to withdraw my submission to let these fine folk have a better shot!
