That clarifies things greatly. In my mind, a cart was a 2-wheeled vehicle driven by a single horse (or able to be pulled by a person dependent on the weight). I don't mind using a wagon as long as we have the animals to ride into thicker parts of the forest when things get too close together and we can't go further.

Well if it gets bogged down, then that's what a strength score is for.

But really. It's all Helgar's fault, if you think about it. She just isn't powerful enough to beg her deity for Wind Walk.

I always laugh when the GM puts out such a low DC for seeing something and the whole party fails. It's like...really?

Did I say "Thomas and Matthew"?..... totally a typo, supposed to be Thomas and Mattie

I don't think they will notice that mistake... yes typo... it was a typo

There are still 3 other people...

Well we could say Ivar did a 'double take' of Matthew Mattie and roll again :)

Makes me hope everyone rolls low now, just for the humor

LOL, as soon as I saw the image I knew it was firefly!

So would Ivar look better in a pretty floral bonnet or Jayne's hat

Definitely a pretty floral bonnet lol.

Oh man I loved Firefly. I was fortunate to catch it after the original airing. Apparently it was aired out of order... no wonder it didn't make it. I am going to give it till tomorrow before continuing on, want to give others a chance to check in.

Yeah, the order was mixed up, so it felt a little disjointed. Sad they didn't give it a second year just to see. Really loved the show and the movie. Own both on DVD.

'Shiny' still gets used in conversations.

Sorry! I've been traveling for the past few days, I'll get a post up later tonight!

How many of you all run DM a PBP game? Currently or in the past? What is it and how is/was it?

I've not GM'd any games on PBP. Actually the last time I GM'd anything was an old-school traveller's game back in college.

Now that I've gotten to know the rules better I've thought about GMing, but I don't have the time to craft a whole game and I'm too cheap to buy AP's or Mod's.

Fighter(Lore Warden/Learned Duelist)/2

I've run a homebrew once on this forum, but when I got into my new study I didn't have enough time for it anymore to make the maps and such.

Though I am running as a sort of shadow DM for my brother's PBP campaign.
I play the additional evil plot, so that's a lot of fun.

Oher than that, I've mostly run tabletop campaigns myself.
I would prefer tabletop myself over PBP, but lately things were tight due to covid.

Aquatic Elf Female |HP: 12/15 | AC: 16 (T: 13, FF: 13) +2dodge vs Chaotic | Perc: +9 | Init: +5 | Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +3 | CMB: +12, CMD: 20 | Spd: 30ft |

I've run hundreds of small one-shots on PBP as well as some campaigns in a homebrew world. It was back in the late 90s and into the early 2010s. I had a large community in which was quite enjoyable of the games. It was not on this website.

I have collected so many modules over time that I really have enough stuff to run for a very long. I typically like to incorporate one shots/dungeon adventures into my own overall homebrew story. Change things up a bit incase people have played the adventure already.

Robert - what is a travelers game?
Nempura - what other site was it that you ran on?
Ewan - I am currently recruiting for Strange Aeons. It seems that I am getting at least one submission for an evil character. What have you done in the past to keep the wheels on the train when it comes to evil characters?

Traveller, that may not really help. It's a science fiction game using D6, started in '77.
I played back in '82, the original black box. From what I can tell, the rules, like all games, have altered some. But I haven't kept up with them.

Aquatic Elf Female |HP: 12/15 | AC: 16 (T: 13, FF: 13) +2dodge vs Chaotic | Perc: +9 | Init: +5 | Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +3 | CMB: +12, CMD: 20 | Spd: 30ft |

It was a website of hundreds of active players, sort of like here. It had a forum element to it with live chat-like updates (kind of a mix between pbp and a chat room). You could post and it would show up right away, allowing instant responses and yet create a record much like here on this forum that you could go back and review. I joined it shortly after its creation in 98'. I was one of a number of game masters on the website routinely creating content for the game. It sadly is no longer in operation.

Well most of my games which I DM-ed, players didn't start out as evil. They are either neutral or good, though if they perform an evil act, depending how evil it is I either have given them a warning that another such act might shift them towards evil or they down right shift then and there one step towards evil and they need to atone.

Usually my friends/players got scared then, as they know that will have consequences to their reputation and makes things more difficult overall.

Starting out a group of players as evil characters like Way of the Wicked or Hell's Vengeance I haven't run yet.

Though how disturbing an evil player could be in a group mostly depends on the player. I've played several evil characters myself, but all of them showed restraint for the most part. Never the murderhobo type, but would not hesitate to kill a prisoner as a warning to others. In my eyes, evil must have a plan or reason, else to play one isn't much fun for the character, the players and the DM.

So a LE or NE character could work, I'm always hesitant about a CE though.

Nempura, I need clarification, are you recommending you ride with Hank as the bait wagon and or guards while the rest of us sneak in behind you?

What do you want to do with our wagon so Ivar may join in?

Also I'm assuming Hank's wagon is far enough ahead in line that anyone in or near our wagon cannot hear you.

Aquatic Elf Female |HP: 12/15 | AC: 16 (T: 13, FF: 13) +2dodge vs Chaotic | Perc: +9 | Init: +5 | Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +3 | CMB: +12, CMD: 20 | Spd: 30ft |

So the way I see it, Hank and I ride in the lead wagon. You and those who suck at sneaking are a "family" in the back with goods, in disguise. Those capable of sneaking, such as perhaps Ewan or some of the guards, wait back a ways in the trees to see when the thieves approach us. Then they rush in. We expose that we are really warriors and meet them in the middle. I'm not looking to talk with them. The sneakers are going to keep an eye on the wagon from behind and rush up when the bad guys surround us. Make sense?

Yeah I'm ok with it, is there room in Hank's wagon for us and who is going to drive our wagon, just park it and come back?

Aquatic Elf Female |HP: 12/15 | AC: 16 (T: 13, FF: 13) +2dodge vs Chaotic | Perc: +9 | Init: +5 | Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +3 | CMB: +12, CMD: 20 | Spd: 30ft |

We'll leave most of the train behind with some guards. This is just enough to tempt them out and get a good score, but not enough to put the caravan at risk. We'll probably have to keep them very far back just to make sure they aren't attacked instead.

Cool, if Ivar weren't driving a wagon he would ride up and ask you what's going on, I'll get a post up. someone else can ask or you can come back and tell us. Or if Mr. Clint is tired of us chatting he can narrate it out :)

Sorry for my few posts these last days, work and related problems eat up much of my time at the moment. A bit of a crazy week to be honest. I will get a post up tomorrow evening, until that time feel free to bot me if needed.

I am letting my games know that starting today and until the end of October, I'm going to be on vacation. This shouldn't hinder my ability to post, but it will hinder my ability to post throughout the day (as my 23 cousins will possibly commandeer some of this time). Feel free to bot me or just wait until late night hours and I should have some posts up.

Okay. Here is an interactive map.

This is how the scene will look when the caravan goes ahead will arrive. I have Nempura on the lead wagon with Hank. Sounds like Ivar is in the back of that wagon. Where will everyone else be with their horse/wagon.

I have Helgar still driving the wagon that her and Ivar were in. Ewan, Merion, and Arren still riding their horses. Does this look good? If so, then we can move forward with the scene I am posting in the Gameplay thread.

Also, if you cannot move your token let me know. It should be set to where you can move it if you have the link.

Side note, sorry for the delay.

I can move it just fine. And the placement looks good. As a reminder, Ivar's weapon is masterwork for this encounter

I am unable to move my token.

I had thought with Nempura's description that we were either hiding in the one wagon or sneaking along through the woods with it. That's why I 'parked the wagon.' I'm ok with the set up you have, it's just not what I pictured Nempura saying in my head.

Okay, I missed this one.

Hank/Nempura driving the lead wagon. Ivar and who else in the back? You could fit 4 in total in the back of the wagon.

Those who aren't in there, are you riding along side the wagon, riding a ways back, walking/slinking/sneaking off to the side of the wagon?

If you are unable to move your token, PM me your email address and I can add you to the Google Slides layout

Oh what a fun campaign. I have played it twice with two completely different party builds AND moral compass. Very fun.

You never have to apologize for taking care of your kid. Family is always first. Hope that they test negative and all can return to normal for your family.

I'll give it until tomorrow before I bot her turn. I am going to force move her though, she would have needed to be a bit closer for that Ray spell to have hit.

Mr Clint, looking at the map, the second swordsman that attacked Ewan, where did he step to? Just looking to see Ivar's best attack opportunities.

Hey Ewen, just a thought for the next combat, Ivar has combat reflexes and a reach weapon, if you had stayed beside him, odds are they would have attacked him, either way they would have had to deal with AOO's.

The guy was the one next to Nash and all he did was a 5-foot step. No AOOs involved. I just moved the guy on the map. That was my bad. If me moving that guy changed anything please feel free to adjust as needed.

It didn't, I was just waiting to make sure Ivar didn't head to the wrong spot.

The damage on the horse causes the creature to start bucking and trying to flee. Hank is fighting the creature as it tries to move forward. It does so by 5 feet bumping into Arren, Helgar, and Nempura causing them to stumble. DC 12 Reflex or you are knocked prone. Arren, if you fail you fall down 10 feet to the grassy platform below as the three of you try and avoid the restless creature.

Before Arren, Helgar, or Nempura can do anything I need you all to roll a DC12 reflex. Failure means you fall prone. Arren, failure means you are pushed over the edge.

Dang it. That’s what I was going to tell hank to do on my turn, is turn the wagon around but I forgot to.

Well that is a comment that could be up for debate / lost in translation of a PBP writing/reading. This should prove to continue to be interesting.

So if their not bandits, and actually some sort of legal authority, they intend on hanging Ivar... might be a really short game...

Terribly sorry, I got caught up in midterms, and the homework surrounding them, that coupled with the food shortage at my college and I forgot all about posting for a few days. I'll get caught right back up, but once again, I am really very sorry to have vanished like that

Glad to have you back Arren and we understand actually studying for midterms. Not that all of us always did :)

Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson wrote:

Man oh man... I don't remember studying beyond high school. Yikes...

I was the opposite. I didn't study in high school or the first two years of college. After twenty years of real life, when I had a chance to go back to school at forty, then I studied.

Oh if I was doing it all over again now, I totally would. Now I read books and really dig in.

So good! I did this years ago to flesh out my homebrew world. It really made me develop. Best of luck on this endeavor. What are you writing?
