Hey everyone. I don't know about you but I personal love podcast. I listen to a wide array of them for my job, for hockey, and for gaming. One of the gaming ones I listen to is DM-Nastics. In the most recent episode Quick Character Questions they dug into ten questions that PCs should answer about their characters.

If you are interested in developing your character more so that you can get even more into their head check out the podcast and the questions below. If you answer them, please copy it down in your characters alias so I can give them a read.

How is their morality defined?
What drives them?
What is their ultimate aspiration?
What lines wouldn’t they cross?
What lines would they cross?
What do they fear most? What is their worst nightmare?
What are their regrets?
How do they view violence?
What would make them stop adventuring?
What is their fatal flaw?

I might take a listen.

I always found it interesting studying some archeology over the years just how little we have changed as people. A couple of the earliest writings we have are tablets of a complaint given to a manufacturer of copper about his crappy quality and how he's scamming people (possibly like this guy with the dagger in character), and a bank record-keeping tablet for transactions lol.

Apologies for not having posted the last couple days. Had a confluence of personal and work stuff that wiped everything off the table.

Yuck nothing worse than a confluence :)

We understand, RL happens and you have too deal with it. Thanks for the heads up. Hope things have smoothed out a little.

No worries Merion. As Ivar said RL happens, and if it hasn't happened yet to one of us it will soon. Thanks for the heads up, take care of what is going on.

Would we know how far away this Keep is, roughly? Is the village mentioned by the old man a day's journey? More?

He named Dulwich, which at the bottom of the map just north of the woods and south of the Salt mire, we probably wouldn't know that Valintin's folly is just south west of there :)

Looks to be about 40 miles?

So any reason we don't head to Dulwich and just ask around?

Alas, Ewan doesn't have Knowledge Geography and/or History, perhaps someone else could figure out what Albin is probably talking about.

At this point, Nempura is more concerned with his safety. He has been flashing that fancy dagger to every thief, every warrior, every scoundrel in that bar. He's not getting out alive with it, not without an escort. I think she may just put him up in her room for the night and sleep on the floor. That way, those who may or may not be after him will give up by morning. He doesn't have a choice now.

If he's sleeping in the common room, Ivar would keep an eye out for him. If you want to bring it up in game.

Sorry for the delay. Holiday weekend + the wife and my 7th wedding anniversary = a much needed weekend away for rest and recovery. We stayed in a beautiful bed and breakfast in southern Missouri that was deep in the woods on 120 acres of land that had a clear as day creek running through it. Needless to say, there was no wifi and the cell signal was weak at best. I had my stuff but not able to post, I apologize.

After being in the woods out there for a few days I really had the juices flowing for a journey through the woods in the campaign. Might have to break those out sometime soon.

Back to the regularly scheduled action!

slightly confused by the spoiler

Are you talking about my spoiler or Nempura's?

My spoiler was just to save space. Albin said he had to make a stop before meeting outside the gates. I just gave everyone a little glimpse of that section of the High City since no one has really gone there yet.

lol, I wasn't sure if I should respond since Ivar wasn't named on it :)

Oh my goodness… that is an error on my part. Ivar is with that group. I’m sorry about that.

It's cool, I figured that was the case, but it couldn't hurt to double check, Just figure I would give you a hard time

so it sounds like were taking the road. Had we decided if we were riding or hiring a wagon?

If we are hiring a wagon Ivar will walk. If we are hiring horses and traveling mounted with pack mules (same as pony) he will walk, (he can walk as fast as a loaded pony). If were traveling with a wagon caravan Ivar will walk. If we are hiring horses and traveling mounted with pack horses he will hire a horse as well.

movement

That seems like a good in game question. I don't think there was any party discussion about it.

Sort of worked it in my post. Lots of options though, part of it will depend on what is actually available to rent.

Aina did say "Things are a bit tight around here and I’m booked solid.”

Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson wrote:
Still not sure why we paid Ablin. "Valentin's Folly" is right there on the map :)

You are correct "Valentin's Folly" is on the map. But, that does not mean that your characters from the north, or as far north is Ivar is from, would know what that even means.

You paid Albin for the dagger and a story. Both of which he delivered.

He gave no details that would have given the party an idea who it was about, even with Albin saying they all perished before it was build. That was 35ish years ago in game. The Knowledge History roll that Nempura delivered was not enough to give you any hint or suggestion on a who or a where based on the details Albin gave.

Now after the fact if Ivar wants to be bitter towards Albin because he does recognize the name on the map and puts 2 & 2 together, then I am okay with that in game.

LOL, not at all, I was just being funny. My assumption is that the "Actual" map would have the towns but not the adventure sites. It would be a freighter's map, not an adventurer's one, anyway.

It was fun messing with Albin earlier. But the page has turned, the chapter ended and a new chapter begun. Ivar is nothing if not abrupt, speaking his mind and then done with it :)

Honestly, I figured Albin was fare game for Ivar to be a jerk, but I won't play him that way with player characters. I don't enjoy when it feels like the characters aren't supporting each other. But I wanted Ivar to have a stubborn streak and acting that way with Albin let me play that a little. I'm just glad Albin didn't follow him outside earlier, that would have been difficult to explain to the party.

haha, well I had to go and add a photo of him since you guys are bringing him with you. lol

All is well. I just wanted to make sure there was no confusion. And yeah... unfortunately I don't have a map without adventuring sites or whatnot...

Hey, you've given us images of people and maps, that's the gold standard on PBP.

Well yeah I give them to you for people I think are reoccurring... but then again I guess that is where I went wrong. Assuming something that the PCs will do...

Well, that kind of buggers everything. I had no idea these were so far. I wish that was common knowledge. We could have saved time. We can’t waste a week or more doing this, and even if we ride there, without the job, we wouldn’t make it in our time frame…

So do we go and send word to the lady we'll be back in a couple of weeks? Or twiddle our thumbs here for five days and see what she wants?

I think with our past experiences, it would do better to leave and focus on this quest and then if she still has a job for us when we get back, fine, if not, no harm. Nempura would be happy not to run into that creepy kid or undead again

It’s not, not common knowledge. I don’t believe anyone asked Albin and the map is there for player/character knowledge. The cities marked, especially along the main roads, would be known.

Nempura Babblebrook wrote:

I think the creepy kid is a main plot point, but not wanting to and not going to happen are two different things.

I'm good either way, head south and assume she'll wait for us, or stay put and meet up the the old guy at his home town later and he can fill us in. Helgar's and your call, you all are the ones she made the deal with.

You remember that Lady Pakkanen mentioned for you all to return to her rested in a few days.

So confused by the spoiler. Was the idea to get us to decide if we were going south or meeting with Pakkenen?

Is their a clock on what Pakkenen wants done?

Or was this to remind us that she would offer us 'support' for this endeavor?

When I looked I tried to find the newest comment the lady said about it. When there is conversations flowing between the post sometimes what you all say impacts what she would say or have do. So I believe the newest one was in the spoiler box.
I put it in there because she would not be reaching out to you, you all were to go to her. Also did it as a clarification post.

OOC as soon as the others, particular Helgar, weigh in, Merion will volunteer to send his bird (which can speak Common) to Lady Pakkanen with any request for delay/more information. So we don't need to walk back over to meet with her.

Arren's staying out of the debate for similar reasons to Ivar, however my thought is that we've spent money on the trip with Albin, and a rather substantial amount as well.

Especially since we weren't aware of any previous plans concerning Lady Pakkanen. If we had previous arrangements/ plans for adventure, Ewan might not have purchased the story from Albin.

I think that there has been a lot of info talked about ooc, but not in character.

I know the new party members, Merion Arren Ewan and Ivar know about what went down on the Sea Sprite, but has everyone been made aware about the child, the ephod, and what Nempura saw?

In character I think that the only urgency to over half the party is the dagger and the mission with Albin because they don't know the fully scoop about the child, lady Pakkanen and the ephod. Well I suppose after leaving the Temple Nempura did say she thought it was an Ephod of Braal.

I think moving forward, try to keep the game talk in character.

I believe Nempura was holding that bit of information closer to the chest as it's generally not regarded as a good thing to see visions of evil gods and crazy things. She's not skeptical, but she is not 100% certain what each vision even means herself, so she's not super open to share what she doesn't know. As situations arise that match what she saw in her vision, she might share more intimate details.

As to the quest, Nempura's opinion has just been stated and even a little taste of sharing what happened with the child. Further questions concerning this can be asked IC and she may answer.

However, GM, if the intent was that this mission with the child is dire and time-sensitive, I don't see that IC. If you do want it to be handled now, may I make a suggestion and have Merion's bird return with news of that time-sensitive nature? Because everything up until now was kind of "take your time", "relax", "get your mind clear" and come back in a few days sort of stuff, and Nempura is going to jet out of town as quickly as possible for the promise of riches otherwise. It is her flaw after all.

I am going to run this game as I run the games in person. I will let you all choose what you do. But, the being said, the world is still actively living. That will impact any choice you can make. Some for the better, some for the worse.

I only brought up what Lady Pakkanen said was because Nempura mentions that she would send word for you, but what was actually said was you should check in with her. I did not mean to hint that things were time sensitive. You were intended to relax, heal up, and clear your mind.

Thanks for more explanation, It took me a moment reading through everything a couple of times but I think I got it :)

If I ever say anything that needs more explanation do not hesitate jumping on here to the discussion for clarification. I will try my best. Hopefully things are clearer(ish). lol

I need to retcon something. I misspoke on the timeline of things. Aina is out getting the wagons together, but it has not yet been long enough to be setting off. That is my bad. I had made a bad assumption and calculation based on peoples posting or lack there of.

No worries

Cart, wagon, horse, pack animal, what do all of these things means?

This image here is what I was meaning when she was going to offer you a "cart." I might have misspoken, technically it is a wagon. Something small that can move a few people and the parties extra belongings during the travel. That way the horses wouldn't need to be bogged down with overflowing saddle bags.

The wagon would have two horses that would haul it. Beyond that you were going to receive a horse for those who were going to ride. I had said 5 because Ivar did not want to ride a horse.

The horses for the riders would be a Light Horse and are trained for a rider. Knowing the come, heel, stay tricks.

The two horses for the wagon are a Draft (Heavy) Horse that is trained to perform heavy labor. Knowing the come and work tricks.
