Not sure how many rounds it will take to start a good fire that can't be easily put out, but that is what she is attempting unless something changes. She'll do it as quickly as she can, because she wants to be out of there just as much as anyone, but also trying to do a good job of it. ... Just let me know my progress in subsequent turns or if someone breaks out and she is suddenly in immediate danger.
I would probably say it would be a move action to get all of the torches out and lined up. Standard to use a flint & steel to light one. Free action to swipe your lit torch across the heads of the others in waiting. I know you said all of your torches, but do you want to do that with all 10 torches?

Nempura Babblebrook |

GM, can you keep in mind to let me know if/when I see smoke coming up from the stairwell? I have an oil flask for Nempura's hair treatment (frizzy hair right?) and if she sees smoke, she may throw that, but not until then will she know what Zalona is doing.

Zalona |

Okay, I'll just use 8 of them in case I have to set something else on fire sometime soon. Don't need them for light because I have the light cantrip, and I figured setting several around by various things that will burn would get the place going faster.

Mr Clint |

I will give Arn this morning before continuing on with the round.
@Zalona Off to the side on the map I put on little fire tokens that will represent torches. On your turn I would like you to put the tokens where you are going to be placing the lit torch. I don't know if it is realistic to be carrying all 8 at a time, so I am going to say you could safely carry two in each hand. If you would like to try and carry more I will be doing a roll to see if you are burned by the torch while trying to juggle them.
I have replaced 1 token already next to the mass below level. That one represents where they are on the floor lit waiting for you to get the extras.

Zalona |

Okay... I'll try jumping into the details and count up my own rounds. As I asked previously, please let me know if the zombie things break out and I have to cut my plan short.

Helgar Runetamer |

Was holding off for a minute to see if she can get a response. She really wants to fall back. But leaving both other dwarves to their deaths without even hearing a word from them? That’s as scary to her as the undead.

Nempura Babblebrook |

I'm just pointing out that no one has looked for the ship like Nempura has asked yet. You might not want to rely on her perception and we might want to know where we are going before we lower the boat.

Nempura Babblebrook |

I guess what I'm getting at is, is it more reasonable a distance with the storm and craziness to row for the ship, or for land? If the land is only 200ft away and the ship is a good 1/4 mile away, we should go for land.

Mr Clint |

In character, you would see that the ship is closer to you than land. Though the waters between the two ships might be a bit rough due to the weather... the waters between the ship and land is rocky and rough.
Out of character... its roughly 100 feet between ships and roughly 200 between the Sea Sprite and land.
I had to go back through the adventure and see what it said.

Nempura Babblebrook |

Great! Good to know. I wasn't sure with the storm, as ships generally don't like to be near land during storms. I think we should probably head to the ship then. Plus if those things come after us, there will be more able bodies to fight them and speed from the ship to get away.

It’s your character. Make her as you best see her.

Zalona |

Hmm, I guess I am going to take one more level of Bard to get some of the 2nd level bonuses and get at least one BAB before I go for another non BAB level somewhere else, but still probably will branch off at some point. (Plus the favored class bonuses for elven bards are awful... at least with sorcerer it is something I might use, but will think about it more.)
Zalona level up:
Brazen Deceiver / Sound Striker Bard 2
+6 HP (half+1=4, +1 for favored class bonus)
BAB +1
Reflex +1

+1 first level: Innocence
Bardic Performance +2

Are we able to take 10 (or 20) on the appraise? If so, with assists, it should be a 17 (27) if I get 3 good assists. It would be nice to know the exact value of everything in the bag. Just a total price is fine, not a sale price, as that might fluctuate with diplomacy or charms.

I think you at least missed this one:
"Continuing to look through the chest you find a small leather case containing a ink pen and three vials of ink. You also find some important tools that a captain would need like a sextant, compass, sand hourglass, and a lead line.
There is a secondary chest within this chest that is also locked, you do find the key among the other keys. Opening it you find the ships wealth of gold, the gold that remains after returning from its journey of buying goods. Not that you are taking time now to count it, but there is 2,868 gold crowns"

Zalona |

Hmm. Unless they are worth a lot, I want the compass and the leather case with pen and ink. I also think we should probably wait to sell the tusk until we find a collector. That seems like something that would be worth a lot to the right person.
Also, I'm totally cool if someone else wants the silver dagger, but I don't think we should sell it... we should have some sort of silver weapon around just in case.

Zalona |

In terms of languages, I guess I never looked into it far enough when I was creating my character. I have the standard ones listed, but I should know three more from my int score and my point in linguistics. Can I roleplay this as one of them and start picking up what he is saying as we go... maybe it is a newer version of some language I already knew or something? If not, no worries. Just wondering.
Even if not, should I choose from standard Pathfinder languages, or are there different ones in this world?

Zalona |

Okay, I'm taking Celestial and Draconic from the list on the Elf page of things that they can take with int bonus, and then I'll take whatever they boy speaks as my point in linguistics, after I roleplay through it and learn it if possible.

Zalona |

Hmm. Okay. I'll take something else then.

Mr Clint |

I have personal problems with the linguistic skill as it is. I don't understand how at leveling up someone can put a rank in a language and they suddenly know it and are perfectly fluent in it without ever studying the language in character...
With my in person group it takes multiple ranks to learn a new language to fluently learn in.
- The first rank is as if you took a general 100 level class and you learn the basics. But, you get mixed up because you are not clear on the different variants of a language and the regional slang sayings.
- The second rank you are stronger in it, but you couldn't hold a standard flow conversation because you are missing things as they speak. But, you are good with reading the language.
- The third rank you are fluent in the language.

Nempura Babblebrook |

I always considered it the fact you've studied them a long time before. I mean, there is no reason that because you fought something, now you know more spells. You have been put into classes and learned these spells (levels 1-9) already, but now through experience, you just have more insight into them. The same goes with linguistics. As a bard, I'm sure she's heard the languages of the world. By adding a point, that is signifying that she's sat down, pieced together all the phrases, writings, and gibberish of that language she's heard over the years and finally has come to understand the "aha" moment of how it works.
I, however, would agree with you that using it to learn a language after one sitting might be extreme unless she actively is trying to learn it by sitting down and having the person write things out, explain things, and be a teacher.

Zalona |

Note that I never said I was trying to learn it in one sitting. I rolled a check because he said he wanted some... didn't expect it to be the only session or the only roll, although it would be nice to find out what result it got with the boy initially.

Helgar Runetamer |

Hey all, sorry about that. We went camping and didn't have internet or solid reception. Back to the action!
Welcome back!

Mr Clint |

Zalona is disappointed that the language lesson doesn't seem to be working. She was trying for the building blocks of language... a few nouns, and instead she was getting, strangely, articles, conjunctions, like it was a meaningless word puzzle rather than a language. Since it was clear that she wasn't going to be able to get even a simple sentence from the boy in time for it to do any good for their immediate goals, it was no longer the top priority, and she stopped pushing him. Although she still wanted to learn how to communicate with the boy, it could wait until they got through this mission.
I don't want Zalona to feel disappointed. It has only been a few hours at most, and you are speaking to someone who doesn't appear to know your language. Isn't going to be an easy task, but doable.

Mr Clint |

Nempure, Helgar, Zalona. I want to double check with you three before I put the call out for more recruits, are you all interested in continuing on? I think that we are about to a good onboard place for new party members. I want to make sure I seek the right numbers and let people know the current party makeup.

Helgar Runetamer |

Yup, I'm good putting out the call.
Also, I'll be traveling next week. Will still be here and can post on my phone. But anything with a map will be difficult to manipulate.

Mr Clint |

With our new recruitment, I won't have the people just join the tavern like I did originally. This time around I want to be more "style & need" based when picking. I would like you all to help with the party selection, also if you know of a solid PBP candidate please suggest that they join us on our fun. I would love to have any connections so that we will have a better chance of long term party makeup.

Zalona |

Actually, since you asked, I think I'll opt out and let a less redundant character take over my spot in the recruitment. Good luck with the game. It was interesting trying to figure stuff out.

Mr Clint |

I’m sorry to see you go. If you’d be interested in making something different and continuing on that would be great also. Since you’re one from the start you’d have first shot and automatically in. But I’d understand if not.
Though, would you be willing to continue on until there is a good exit for your character, along with the other botted characters?
