Sorry Arren apparently Ivar has gotten ahead of himself, once the wagon was parked he intended to eat a quick bite and get back to the wagon and keep cleaning he gear until they were done. Depending on what time the finished would determine what came after that.

Hey Mr Clint if we start getting ahead of you in our narration, don' be shy about telling us to slow down.

It's part of the whole PBP thing. I was going to post yesterday, but then it was still only a post or two so I waited. Then when I jumped on today to post I was like woah.. everyone is on. lol My postings were for whenever people heading towards those destinations. They can fit perfectly into what you all are already doing.

Toll booth - caravan to weary traveler - group goes to where they go.

I was just filling in the details about where people where heading.

Part of it's being used to AP's where it's the destination instead of the journey. As long as I remember Ivar is on a journey I should be able to resist the urge of the 'and then' in my own post.

I will post later today, I wanted to give others time to jump in and post.

Hey guys

Sorry I have been MIA since the end of last week. Friday we found out that we lost a pregnancy. My wife wasn't too far along, but this is the second one this year and its really weighing heavy on the both of us. Tomorrow morning my wife has a D&C, and need to focus on her.

I have been wanting/trying to post more but my head/heart isn't in it. I am going to take a short leave and get past the Christmas season and make sure she is good to go moving forward.

I will be back before the new year, just need a week to focus on some real life stuff. This homebrew game has been a blast and love seeing what areas you are going to focus on and what areas you want to pass on. I want to come back fully ready to engage.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

Aww. Sorry to hear that. No worries. Take your time.

So sorry to hear Mr Clint, please take all the time you need. Will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

May the prince of peace be with you and your wife as you go through the mourning process...

Really sorry to hear that. I hope that both of you take the time that you need. Wish you all the best.

Sorry to hear about that.

I was just posting to say that I'm sorry for my late absence, which is due to a positive COVID test among a family member while traveling, but your situation is far more serious.

Best wishes to both of you.

Hey thank you all for the kind words. My wife had her procedure yesterday, and everything went as planned. Rested up yesterday and felt great this morning. We are looking forward to getting away for a few days around Christmas. I am looking forward to coming back mentally refreshed. Thank you all again for hitting the pause button on the game.

I'm so sorry! I have been traveling, and I made a post to the gameplay before catching up on the discussion. I'm very glad to hear your wife is doing well, and I hope that you have a refreshing well deserved vacation.

I'll just wait to post until people play catch up and realize Nempura headed back to the wagons at the Traveler's rest with the others and asked something.

Cool.

Honestly I was a little confused with the pacing.

Mr Clint wrote:

Ivar, Ewan and Arren find themselves waking at the same time, each of them noticing the sounds of panic/fear/startled of the others waking. No one is out in the stables at this time, which you might find surprising since this is a guarded stable yard for the caravan. But, it is still dark out and possible for a guard to fall asleep.

After sometime Nempura joins the group.
It sounded like waking from the dream was the middle of the night, and that we should inspect what was going on. But then he said "after sometime Nempura joins the group" I wasn't sure how long that took
Nempura Babblebrook wrote:

...she will get fully dressed and will head down for breakfast. If she hadn't been so darned exhausted the previous day, she wouldn't want to eat, but as it is, she finds her appetite and downs the oats and honey.

With a thanks to the cook, she heads back toward the Traveler's Rest to find some of her companions near the wagon, Ivar looking quite blustered.

"What's going on?"

Although the bard's inquiry is cheerful, there is a distance in her tone--a fear.

If Nempura woke from a dream the same time everyone else did, she would arrive a fair amount of time say between a half hour and an hour after the event.

I was intending for Ivar to search the area for guards. It would take at least that long for Nempura to join us. The confusion comes with the pacing. There have been several times one of us have posted 'several actions' to move the plot along that became irrelevant because of the GM moving it at a slower pace.

Anyway Clint said there were no guards in an area that should be guarded then 'after some time' Nempura joined them. So I'm assuming that time is at least as long as it would take for her to get ready in the morning and have some breakfast and check out of her room.

I'm fine with it taking some time. Go ahead and just keep roleplaying. I'm reading along. And alternative would be that she woke up earlier if the dreams are not all tied to the same timing but just that we slept.

Loot question. Who was keeping track of the loot? Are you using a spreadsheet? I copied this Google Sheet from my Strange Aeons game that someone else set up, and I think it would be great to use for us. I set it to where we can all edit it from this link.

It has tabs for Unclaimed Items, Claimed Items, and Coins. Let's start using this as a baseline.

So I ask this because I would like to know what all you are wanting to sell off, and if there is anything specific that you guys are looking for that this shop might have.

I have a trello board keeping track of our recent goods. Other goods have been distributed to our character sheets, I believe.

So now that we've all had this dream and shared that we have, and we see helping the kid is a good thing, I think we should return to the main mission. Since we are currently on a task in protecting this wagon train as guards to the south, I think we should continue and fulfill our obligation and our word.

Instead of going to work securing the home reported by Albin, we should return to Languard, and perhaps on the way, see if we can find this bandit stronghold. If it's assailable, we can do so with permission. If not, we can return to Languard with information of its whereabouts and let them deal with it, then perhaps get a small reward that way. We then can sell our gear.

Originally I thought we shouldn't leave town because of GM's cryptic comments. But now, after we mention going back to Languard, a 'main' NPC requests to travel with us to the fortress. (if whoever eats with them comments about the offer.)

Mr Clint wrote:
... what would you think about an old gnome like myself coming and recording this little excursion? I would bring my own provisions and would make sure not to interfere with your exploration.”

As the player I don't really care either way, town or old fortress. My concern is that a lot of 'sandboxes' get more difficult the further you get from the 'point of entry' so the gnome may have been 'volunteered' to go along with the party so we would have a little extra firepower.

Ivar already voiced that he didn't care either way, whatever Nempura and Helgar feel is right. I will get a post up soon, Ivar's going to take the wagon and sell the gear. If he hears that Albion is 'running his mouth' about the old fortress to the gnome, he'll recommend going there first before anyone else figures it out and gets there before them.

Yeah, everything we have done was to help minimize secrecy, which for some reason Albin hasn't seemed to pick up on. I am of the same mind to complete the quest we set out on before others come and pick it clean...grr...That man...

As for NPC help? I am not sure. In Nempura's mind, this ancient home they are going to is sort of like the Beauty and the Beast castle, old and abandoned, but still in good condition. This is perfect opportunity to secure property for her in the region for her future. So the less people who know where it is or what it is, the better. That is why Albin is pissing her off with his running mouth. It's not just about the contents inside.

Merion is, excited by the events of yesterday, thinking of this as one would, well, a D&D adventure--exciting, well beyond his normal life, and only very secondarily dangerous. He'll go along with the party with any option, but personally is in favor of pushing on to complete Albin's quest.

a question on loot:

Mr Clint wrote:

Looking over Nash, you find several items that are useful. First thing are his weapons. He has a Masterworked Longsword and a Masterworked Kukri. He also has Banded Mail and a Buckler that was helping him deflect your attacks. And a scroll case with a piece of paper rolled up within it. And it says “Follow the river north west to the South Road, use the sticks from the mines to rid yourselves of the bridge. Don’t come back until you have a full wagon. – Grigs”

Nash’s men have the same items on them. 3 Short Swords, 3 Studded Leathers, 3 Bucklers, 3 Daggers, 3 Slings, 60 Bullets.

Arren finally is able to climb up the dirt wall with the aid of Nempura. Once she is up top, Arren sees the scene of the four fallen swordsmen and Nash laying dead. Or she would assume they were dead.

Was it three or four swordsmen, and did Ewan pick up the shortsword and longbow (+1 sr) that his opponent dropped?

Does anyone recollect anything else we need to list?

Is anyone interested in keeping any of this gear before we sell it? Ivar would be interested in the bow if Ewan picked it up.

I'm okay selling any of it but if you want to use something, go for it.

I'm alright selling it all as well

I think selling everything would be good, Ewan wouldn't use the +1 longbow I guess, he is not strong enough to properly use it. Maybe get a normal longbow instead of that, or a crossbow.

I'd say keep it, a competent bowman is a wonderful thing. I always buy adaptive longbows on all my barbarians when I can afford it, even if I've invested nothing into archery feats. :) Although admittedly, a sling works almost as well.

Here is the list of items. Let me know what the party is keeping. The prices next to them are the prices from Ultimate Equipment.

Equipment to be sold:

MW Longsword 315 GP
MW Kukri 308 GP
Banded Mail 250 GP
4x Buckler 5 GP
Composite Longbow (+1 Str) 200 GP
4x Short Swords 10 GP
3x Studded Leathers 25 GP
3x Daggers 2 GP
3x Slings -
60 Bullets 6 SP

Ivar's not keeping anything, decided the money would probably be more useful than a bow.

Any chance we can pick up a clw wand?

I don't know how everyone prefers to do a split on wealth, I'm a big fan of keeping a portion for 'group magical items' like clw wands. That way our casters aren't spending all their own money keeping us standing.

Sounds like something that could be found at the local temple.

One last thing, Does this look like it is correct as far as things go with your coinage?

Coinage:

Group Fund ?
Ivar 22 GP 6 SP 9 CP
Arren 530 GP
Merion 5 GP
Ewan 30 GP
Helgar 11 GP 9 SP
Nempura 51 GP 18 SP 5 CP

Would a diplomacy check or an appraise check have been able to sweeten the deal?
