Also, Besmara, I have a question on how feats that alter the damage types of weapons (Weapon Versatility, Snake Style, etc.) interact with swashbuckler stuff - Swashbucklers finesse (and several of the Swashbuckler Deeds) have requirements for piercing weapons.
Long story short -if I take Snake style, can I use my (now piercing) unarmed strike with Sb Finesse? Also, can piercing weapons I'm using still use Sb Finesse even when they're doing other damage types due to Weapon Versatility?
Okay, so I've done some thinking on this, and I think I've decided what I think.
As long as the base weapon is a piercing weapon, yes you can use Weapon Versatility in conjunction with your swashbuckler class features. As far as unarmed... eh... I'm going to say yes for now.I reserve the right to revoke this if it ends up being too cheesy.

Warhawk7 wrote:No, I got the 5. Well, I've played worse, and this could be fun. I'll have an alias written up and posted in a bit.Ouch, think I liked the straight 20pt buy. A 5 is just... ouch.
I definitely plan on having a Harrow deck. Harrow Born was the non-AP trait I was taking.
When I posted the GM had not corrected his error. My apologies.

GM Besmara |

You're okay with alternate racial traits, correct? Was thinking of replacing Skilled with Heart of the Sea.
Hrm, I'm thinking of rolling with the negative Wisdom score and flavor-wise asking permission for the Naive drawback? Seems like it would fit.
Yeah, alternate racial traits are open for players, with the exception of the Samsaran alternate racial trait. Also, that combo of low Wisdom and the Naive drawback sounds very appropriate and flavorful. I approve.

GM Besmara |

@GM- I may be being impatient but, in case my previous comment wasn't sufficient for a ruling:
I have an anchor that is important to my backstory that's chained to my wrist and I'm wondering if it would be alright, since it's literally attached to me, if I took the 'attached' drawback for it?
Yes, but only if it is not actually attached to you. There should be some risk of it getting lost, stolen, sundered, left behind, etc for the drawback to work.

TheWaskally |

GM Besmara, I know you have many character submissions, but if you are interested in something a little out of the ordinary, I bring you a sailor created using a third-party class (links are in the character page). I present to you, young master Mavadius Besmarason, a dangerous young man with something to prove.

GM Besmara |

So, I added some fluff -though I feel like the Bullied trait might be just a bit inaccurate flavor-wise (there's probably a difference between being bullied as a child, and standing up for the kids who were being bullied).
I'd accept a reflavor in that same bullying spirit. I mean, a fist fight is a fist fight, regardless whose side your on.

I'd have to look over the class in more detail, but I've already told one person that having any type of relation with the gods was beyond my preferred levels of cheesy from an RP perspective. I can't know how cheesy the class is mechanically as I haven't had a chance to look over it yet, so I can't comment there.
Also, where did you get your stats? I don't believe I've rolled anything for any of your aliases I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) and you are WELL over a 20pnt buy.
JDPhipps |

It seems as though we're being allowed to use a 20 point-buy if we don't like the rolled stats, is that correct? If so, I'll take some rolled stats, just to see what I end up with. This character build... kind of has room for a dump stat, so we'll see how it goes.
If I can't use the point-buy if you roll, just let me know and I'll write up my character with that instead.
EDIT: Also, while DRUIDS have a bunch of archetypes for terrains, no such things exist for Hunters. Would it be possible to finagle some sort of Aquatic Hunter archetype, or would you rather not get into that? I was thinking simply adapting the Aquatic Druid a bit to make the Hunter mesh a little bit better with life on the open sea.

Lyesmith |
So, I did some slight trait reflavoring:
'Bullied' is now listed as 'Bully Hunter'. It's mechanically identical, but works off the idea that Ilyan learned to fist-fight to protect others rather than protect himself -think the alley scene in Captain America, but with ten-year-olds. This trait would be Barnes instead of Rogers.

Appearance:
A bit grizzled for a new Halfling pirate recruit. Body covered in scars and Tufts of white facial hair growing on an otherwise bald head. Face looks to be middle-aged on going on old. Dresses in loose fitting clothes good for the heat with his chain shirt underneath a plain brown tunic atop a white pair of pants that probably came from Osirion or some other desert nation. The only accoutrements at all are the silver chain bearing the gleaming silver Skull and Crossbones of Besmara.
Background:
Polmar is old enough to remember a time when life was not nearly this joyous or simple. Polmar had grown up in occupied Andoran as a slave whose main purpose was to work in the fields as pickers. It wasn't all bad - he got to live with his entire extended family and they did get time occasionally to live as halflings do - swimming, climbing, jumping, target practice, etc. It was in those long years that Polmar learned the art of healing. As he advanced in years and grew to be relied upon by his family and friends, he discovered that being able to use herbs to break a fever or stop bleeding could be rather useful.
Polmar boasts that he was a part of the grand Revolution but to be honest, he didn't really do much. The estate he worked was freed relatively late in the war and as such Polmar may have technically joined the People's Army but he never fired single slingstone. those were exciting time, and most of the former slaves swore that they would enjoy their freedom to the fullest extent.
Polmar, however, felt directionless and quickly ended up spending himself to oblivion as he ended up in some port town where he did manual labor and drank his sorrows and pain away at night. Recently, however, Polmar began to have these strange visions when he fell asleep of Besmar, the Pirate Queen and he felt himself drawn to the sea. Quickly he began trying to ingratiate himself with any Pirate crews he could, earning his keep as a healer and deckhand. Along the way he began to discover that his visions of Besmara were growing more vivid and advanced and he suddenly found himself able to pray to her for spells. Slowly, unconsciously, he began to become a true Aspirant of Besmara. He worshipped the freedom and sense of purpose she offered to a poor former slave like himself. Her blessing made him stronger. Not some ivory tower priest, but a real life warrior following using her name as his shield. He sought to use this power to expand the reach of Piracy - to offer the life to any who might wish to live it.
For that is the true mark of a good pirate. Not just rich and free, but enterprising!
As a note, I am pretty new to the forums.

@JDPhipps I'm not going to be supporting custom classes or archetypes in this campaign. Too much work and I'm lazy. That said, 3pp is in a case by case basis, so if there's one there from another publisher you can peek at it.
And once I roll, those are your stats. No reverting to 20pnt buy. All about that gamble! So, I did some slight trait reflavoring:

@Lyesmith Keep the trait name the same, just make a note somewhere in a spoiler or something about trait fluff or something. Keep the names original on the sheet itself for easy look up!

GM Besmara |

Presenting, the fun-loving slavery smashing Halfling extraordinaire - Polmar mac Tiernan
You'll have to move all that info to your alias's profile. And where did you get your stats from? I don't recall rolling them for you, and you're over the alternate 20pnt buy.
Welcome to the forums!

Polmar Finn |

That is a 20 point buy.
Keep in mind them halfings have -2 Str, +2 Dex and Cha and that you get an extra 2 points for buying down to a 7.
But actually the only reason I even attempted point buy was that I wanted to get a submission in and didn't know if you were around.
By all means, roll me some bones!

Tieflings have +2 Dex, +2 Int, -2 Cha. And I used the ability point generator on d20pfsrd.com to make the 20-pt. generation. As for the stats themselves, they are both on the left field and in the spoiler.
Let's face it, once you said you MIGHT allow third party material, it was a crapshot if you would even allow such a character. I was inspired by the opportunity and went for it. Hell, half the fun of these post boards is making new characters for new and exciting campaigns. Sadly, I don't play too often.
GM Besmara |

@Polmar Mac Tiernan and TheWaskally Ah yes. It was late and I forgot to account for racials. Put a star or a note or some indicator by your stats with what your racial mods are if you could.
As far as godlings go TheWaskally, my answer is no to that class on premise alone.
I'll get some rolls going for the characters who requested it when I get to PC a bit later today.

Fair enough. I was thinking more that the threat would come from others grabbing at it or trying to sunder it or those sorts of things, but I see your point. I'll check and see if there's another drawback that fits or else I'll drop the sea-souled trait.
Also, I think the last recruitment he was in had higher starting wealth so I'll double check and fix that. (edit: wealth/possessions properly adjusted)

Gall the Half-Giant |

Drawbacks can be found here. Also, I have to say that I'm blown away by the backstories some of you create. It's great to see so many people so enthusiastic about being pirates! I'm sure whoever gets picked is in for a great run.

Kib-Bloom |

Yea. Like 30ish pirates ready to board a single ship.
I will just point out that the google doc list of pirates for this AP is only 10 long.
I don't know how many GM use the list, but:
here for anyone who wants to add their name if they don't get in this one.
It is the S&S tab.

GM Besmara |

Wow- seems like a lot of melee pitches...
Is anyone keeping a list of submissions at all? If so, could you post it please? (if not I may try to compile one in a little while)
I have posted a few of them. I keep an up to date list at home which I will post when I get to my PC. If you look back on the last page, there is the most recent list. It's quite comprehensive, though there have been a small handful of additions since.
